This spot is hands-down one of the best new restaurants to hit the neighborhood in a long time. The food is phenomenal—the mushroom pizza alone is something I could eat every day. Their frozen margaritas have quickly become my favorite; they’re easily the best around. Beyond the food and drinks, the atmosphere is effortlessly casual and laid-back, with a great vibe that makes you want to just relax and hang out. My friend and I even had the chance to chat with one of the owners, and we couldn’t be prouder of what they’ve created. This place is an incredible addition to the neighborhood—I can already tell it’s going to be my go-to hangout at least once a week.

Protest Pizza just opened in the Dupont area, right off 17th on P Street (under DC Vegan). I’m in love with this place already. First and foremost, the pizza is delicious! The crust is nice and chewy and just enough crispy. I had their version of the meat lovers, the BBQ Chicken, and tried the mushroom slice and they were all exceptional. I like that there are ample toppings, so I didn’t feel cheated at all. For their opening week-ish, slices are $5. They’ll settle their menu/ pricing soon and honestly, I’ll pay a few extra dollars for the quality. I don’t have them, but they do offer vegan and gluten free options! The space itself is very cute. I like that it’s well-lit without feeling institutional. Also, the space is nicely laid out with a good amount of seating for the space, including a little outdoor patio. They have two single stall restrooms in the back, which is awesome. As far as the bar and drinks, they carry a lot of canned beverages, including Coke products and selection of craft beers. They also have quite a few liquors. Lastly, the staff is really friendly and makes the experience special. I appreciate their attention to customers, patience with questions, and definitely belief in their products. I’m coming back here for sure!

Excellent new pizza spot. We tried the Green Line, Buffalo Chicken, and the Aloha. All three slices had perfect flavor combinations, and the crust was soooo so fluffy. Size-wise: they are smaller than Andy’s but on par with Stellina. They have a full bar, beer, non-alcoholics, and regular seltzers. We love everything about Protest Pizza, from the name to the vibe to the location. Edit: the new Community Garden pizza is delicious.

Really solid and consistent New York style slice shop. Style is to the book. They have only been open a few weeks now, and straight out of the gate they are better than any of the slice shops in Dupont, Logan, and U Street.

Delicious pizza! The toppings are fresh, the sauce is flavorful and the gluten free crust was so good! Here’s the gluten free pizza! They also have regular pizza by the slice and the kids loved the margherita so much that they went back for more. Super cute decor and friendly, upbeat staff makes it a fun spot.

This place feels like home. From truly heartfelt New York style pizza to a very wide selection of drinks and spectacular service, Protest Pizza is a safe space in the D.C. bubble. This place feels part museum, part night club, part late-night munchies that does not quit. Get yourself a slice (I highly recommend the sit-in!)

This is a new pizza joint in Dupont. The pizza is solid and tasty. The crust and undercarriage is great. I got the Meatsa pie and it does not disappoint. Flavor profile is good - from sauce to the toppings - savory and rich without being overly salty and leaving you fee bloated. Definitely will be back for more! I give Protest Pizza four stars because NO ONE gets five stars..thats just crazy talk.

Great new NY style pizza spot in DuPont. Loved the mumbo pizza and garden pizza! I also recommend the yuzu sparkling lemonade drink! Will def stop by here again and again for a late night slice 😋

HYGGE: Really friendly staff who clearly take a lot of pride & joy in their food & their space. That kind of authenticity is infectious & inviting. I was drawn in by the disco lights, clean, eclectic, yet warm & cozy interior. unfortunately I had eaten just before I passed by but I wanted to get a look at the menu and see if there was anything I wanted to take home for the next day. They said soft serve and I had to investigate- they really sold me with the free sample. this also was more of an Italian ice style but it was still very flavorful. And their selection of toppings was also eclectic & well curated- how many Fro-Yo places have marshmallow fluff, fresh mango, raspberries, black& blueberries, gummy bears, coconut crunch, and sunflower butter drizzle (and many more)? I got a swirl of açai and tart yogurt. VERY fruit forward and real tasting- a good 5oz cup portion for $5.5 . Also their pizzas look beautiful I thought I was full until I saw them ;-) you know they are representing DC when they have a fantastic MUMBO sauce pizza oh yeah. Really nice thin crust good chunks of the chicken and pepperoncini (banana peppers) really great balance of flavors. I got extra mumbo sauce on mine. I

Good on the owners for picking an alliterative name. Protest Pizza is quite easy to remember and appealing to DC residents. Can we also talk about the bar menu - front AND back??? You could easily just come here to drink and have a pizza box load to choose from. You also have the option to take some cans home too. Now, the pizza. Pick by the slice or whole 16-inch pies. I had a slice of the Green Line, a pesto and vegetable combination pizza. Warmed and crisped just right, it was something I did not expect to enjoy so much. I will strongly consider it next time along with a meat pizza. Protest Pizza has a big casual vibe and is LGBTQ+-friendly! Sit at the long bar or grab a table and they make you feel welcome. I found it after attending a fun community event nearby. My heart and my stomach were full.

Quick service and great pizza! I got two pizzas by the slice-- the ally and the green line. They heat up the slices after you order, then you can get them to go or eat them fresh in their cute space. The crust was super crispy and light, which I prefer. I enjoyed the freshness of the roasted peppers and pesto on the green line, while the ally was a little richer. Both were great- don't think I can pick a favorite! Will definitely be back.

I've lived in the neighborhood for a few years now, and I'm so excited to finally have a late-night food option that's not McDonald's or Yum's. I love the concept behind Protest Pizza and the that it's LGBTQ+-owned! The artwork inside is awesome and features Leigh Mosley, a photographer who spent decades documenting LGBTQ+ liberation and activism. I stopped in for dinner and grabbed a couple of slices which were great! Straight out of the oven, crispy crust, and melty toppings. The Good Trouble (pepperoni, bacon, hot honey, and jalapeños) and the Buffalo Chicken pizzas were both yummy. The staff were friendly on my visit. Will definitely be a regular spot for me.

Came in at peak dinner rush and the joint was jumping! Everyone inside genuinely seemed happy to be there. The staff were so welcoming and offered the best recommendation of the pickle fries. I will be returning probably weekly for them. They are perfect - super thin pickles spears, with the crackliest & crunchiest coating, salty throughout (shout out to pickles, we love you) and served with house made ranch. I'm usually not a ranch girl but I could eat this ranch on everything. You gotta dip your crust in it. The mumbo slice was good and satisfying but there are so many other slices that caught my eye for next time. They have plenty of cool drinks (non-alc and alc), a hot cocoa bar and FROYO. They answered my prayers for froyo in DC. They have tart and açaí with topping options like fruit, granola, honey, and most importantly Oreos. I think this spot will become a go-to for me, perfect for late night or a casual meal. Pretty affordable too!

You guys ... The vibe is awesome, the bartender (Jay) is wonderful, and the owners (Rick and Randy) are incredible people. Wait. I didn't even mention the pizza! It's better than Andy's. Mushroom za ftw. Their froyo is awesome too. Feeling super grateful to have this place in the hood! Really amazing people and great za!

GREAT pizza by the slice! I had a pepperoni mushroom olive pepper slice that was one of the best I ever had! Plus I appreciated the political edge - picked up some excellent swag. I'm definitely going back to worship Lord Za.

Most importantly, the pizza was amazing. Hot, delicious flavor on the toppings and cheese, and I loved the crust. The pepperoni was particularly good. On food alone I will be coming back regularly. I visited late night. I love that they're open til 2 on Fri/Sat. The shop was playing good music, and the staff were super friendly. In a nutshell, the vibe was great. Way better than you get in the jumbo slice shops that are usually open around the city late night (and to be clear, the slices are filling, but this is not a jumbo slice shop - and I love Protest Pizza for that). Love that this shop is in the neighborhood!

Fantastic slices. Really friendly staff. Great layout with outdoor seating. This place is really awesome. I got two vegan mushroom slices after picking up catering nearby. OMG, really really delicious. I am already planning another visit for another slice or three. Forget the thanksgiving turkey, set it free and stuff me with some more slices please, and you should also do the same. Check it out!

A++ from start to finish. There's a *great* choice of by-the-slice options, all delivered to your seat at the bar or a table (or for take out) on a perfectly crisp thinner crust served piping hot. Whole pies are also available for dine-in or take out. Both times I've been there the food has been terrific and the bar was well-stocked (including Republic Restoratives, owned and led by local women, located in NE DC! [great bourbon!]) and a wide selection of bottled brews and other beverages. The bartenders are friendly and the owners are usually around since they're *just* getting up and started. It's SO great to have a top drawer, comfy LGBTQ-owned slice shop -- and not your run of the mill slice shop -- in the neighborhood! Definitely going back!!

We've been looking forward to Protest Pizza opening, and it didn't disappoint! The pizza and the vibes were both good! It's nice to have a by-the-slice place in the neighborhood.

I like the buildout. Pizza is not that great. Service experience is like dealing with a snarly bartender. I wanted to like the place and support a community business.....but no can do here.
