The 15 Best Breakfast Burritos In Los Angeles - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Provecho Calimex made a name for itself selling homestyle Mexican breakfast at the Mar Vista and Marina Del Rey farmers markets. Now this family-run operation has a small café, also in Mar Vista, where you’ll find their signature breakfast burritos six days a week (they’re closed on Tuesdays). Consider these flavorful behemoths the “chopped salad” of burritos: a choice of protein (we like the asada or housemade Oaxacan chorizo) is folded into a fluffy egg scramble with chiles, cheese, and tender potatoes. The icing on the cake is the trio of freshly made salsas on the side." - sylvio martins, garrett snyder

The 18 Best Mexican Restaurants On The Westside - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"We used to love eating Provecho Calimex’s hulking breakfast burritos at the Marina Del Rey Farmers Market, even if it meant spilling salsa on our shirt every time. Well, now you can sit down and enjoy this family-owned operation’s Mexican breakfasts at their Mar Vista, where you can start the day with cafe de olla, chilaquiles, and their signature burrito filled with your choice of meat. Our go to’s are the asada and housemade Oaxacan chorizo, both of which get bundled up with a perfectly cooked potato, pepper, and egg scramble." - sylvio martins, jess basser sanders, brant cox, arden shore

Provecho Calimex - Review - Culver City - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Provecho Calimex originally made a name for itself selling plates of chilaquiles and hulking breakfast burritos at the Mar Vista and Marina Del Rey farmers markets. Now this family-run operation has a small café next to a butcher shop in the west part of Culver City where you can pop in for homey Mexican breakfast dishes and a cup of cafe de olla or passionfruit-magno agua fresca. Our go-to here is the signature breakfast burrito, filled with a choice of meat (go with the asada or the housemade Oaxacan chorizo) and a perfectly cooked scramble of potatoes, chiles pepper, and tender chunks of potato, plus a trio of freshly made salsas." - Garrett Snyder

Google
This is probably one of the most delicious places my partner and I found in the Culver City/Del Rey area. The food is consistently spectacular and you can even choose barbacoa as a meat choice, which isn’t always a guarantee. The people who work here are kind and efficient, truly peaceful people that can provide an authentic LA desayuno experience. Cafe de Olla is a must have for coffee!

Google
Yum yum delish delish!! The chorizo breakfast burrito is so delish. The seasoning is so good and the tortilla is so buttery. It made my Sunday! I’d come back in a heartbeat. The agua Fresca was also amazing. Refreshing and not overly sweet. We got both the strawberry kiwi and the cucumber pineapple.

Google
Absolutely delicious! I had to try the chilaquiles con oaxacan chorizo this morning paired up with a matcha latte. Fresh flavors, nicely sized portions, and tasty ingredients. The hospitality was just as good as the food itself! I'm telling my friends and family about this place now!

Google

Google
The best breakfast burritos around! The tortillas are fresh, soft, and perfect, while the stuffing is out of this world—flavorful, well-balanced, and packed with quality ingredients. Every bite is delicious, and the portions are generous. If you love breakfast burritos, this place is a must-try!

Google
I consider myself a sort of breakfast burrito snob. I don’t want tater tots in it, I don’t want mayo or aoili, and I don’t want all the ingredients separate from each other. This is the BEST breakfast burrito I’ve had on the west side. The tortilla is fresh and chewy, the bacon is crispy, the poblano chile adds so much flavor that elevates the burrito but doesn’t over power, and the ingredients are all scrambled together to perfection. The burrito is a hefty size and wrapped well. Great salsas too! I’m so happy we tried this place and we’ll definitely be back!!

Google

Google
Amazing spot with some of the best Mexican food I have had. Provecho is a Wonderful family business and Ismael and Julian were incredibly kind and hospitable! Tortillas and burrito were top notch as well, and everything was fresh and made in house!! 100% recommendable

Yelp
Authentic Mexican Food indeed! Mexican certified I ordered the Chilaquiles with scrambled eggs and iced coffee, while my husband had the Breakfast torta with Asada and traditional Mexican coffee. The food was surprisingly light and filling, without being greasy. This cozy spot has limited seating, but the service was fast and friendly. Prices were very reasonable, almost too low considering the quality and care that goes into the food. I'll definitely be back for more!

Yelp
Visited the Provecho Calimex stand at the Mar Vista Farmers' Market last weekend - I think this is now my favorite breakfast burrito in the LA area, and I've tried most of the greats! At 16.50, they're not cheap, but these are almost twice the size of others I've had in LA, and the ingredients taste very high quality. Not sure if they make their own tortillas but they came out perfectly toasted/crispy, and the fillings were cooked and seasoned perfectly - not too salty and not too dry, as some breakfast burritos can be. I also loved that I could do half/half with two different kinds of meat. The Farmers' Market parking is a bit of a pain, but I think this stand is totally worth stopping by if you're already at the market. The staff working there were kind and efficient, and our burrito was ready by the time we came back from a quick loop around the market. Strongly strongly recommend!

Yelp
Ismael was fantastic. We loved talking with him. Chorizo breakfast burrito add bacon and Cafe de Olla coffee. We live in the area and this by far the best breakfast around. They have only been around for a year. I am glad we found them!

Yelp
My boyfriend and I wanted to grab breakfast so we found this place. No one was inside when we pulled up but honestly the staff was so nice! I got the breakfast torta with chorizo and it was so bomb 10/10!!! My new favor small little neighbor breakfast spot :)

Yelp
I read about this place in an Infatuation article about the best breakfast burritos in Los Angeles. It's in my neighborhood so I decided to check it out. The breakfast burritos are $16 before taxes. With a tip it came to almost $20! The burrito was filling and pretty good, but I was expecting a bit more flavor. I was happy that they included red and green salsas with my order. I think that I will try the Chilaquiles next time.

Yelp
Really small unassuming spot that serves some Mexican food. The place feels family owned and operated. I personally am not 100% sure on the different classifications, but I would guess this place is a taqueria(?). I came in with and was greeted by friendly person and sat right away. The menu isn't large, which is great for me. But I went here specifically for the breakfast burrito. Boy was I not disappointed! I got the breakfast burrito with Oaxacan sausage. It comes with some salsa and chips. The burrito was a great size and I was definitely full. The flavors and textures were all on point. I thought it was a really good ratio of all the different ingredients. I enjoyed the green salsa since it wasn't too spicy for me and added a lot of flavor. I have a special place in my heart for small mom and pop spots like this. So this was right up my alley. It's also located right next to a small market as well just in case you need to pick up some items on the way out. The street it's on does have a lot of through traffic, but I was easily able to find street parking right around the corner where it's slightly less busy.

Yelp
Great chorizo breakfast burrito. Everything else looked good too. Ask for the extra spicy salsa

Christine O.

Yelp
The staff is friendly, and the food was authentic and super flavorful! I would go often if I lived in the area.

Yelp
Food. Service. Ambience. Check. Check. Check. This place is an absolute gem. If you're able to be lucky enough to eat here, do it. Joy took care of everything. As soon as I walked in she helped me with the menu. She helped me decide what I wanted without pushing anything on me. We settled on the barbacoa burrito. It was absolutely fire. Huge. Crispy. Crunchy. Delicious. Tender. I can't say enough honestly. Solid spot! Thanks Joy!!

Yelp
Yummmmm!! Both dishes pictured were delicious. I don't remember exactly what each of us got since this was back in Nov. but i more than recommend trying this place if you're able to! Service is quick and workers are friendly. If you're having the burrito I would say it would taste better with salsa but it was still good. Came on a Sunday and wasn't busy.

Yelp
Almost every Sunday morning I go to the Mars Vista farmers market and visit the Provecho Calimex stand for their amazing Breakfast burrito. First off, this thing is huge, it's definitely a two hander and and is delicious! I usually get it with chicken but i'm sure everything else is delicious too. The staff are super nice and the wait time to get a freshly made burrito is about 10 minutes. There can be a lot of people there, since it is a farmers market, but like any other market you just have to weave your way through. I can usually always find parking on a side street just a few blocks away. If you go to this market, definitely give this place a try!

Yelp
The food is amazing! Everything I tried has been fresh and delicious! The Pancakes are also too die for fresh whipped cream and fluffy pancakes every time! I tried the breakfast torta and it hit so close to home. So happy I found this small little gem oh and you can't forget the cafe de olla is soo addicting!! Here's what the chilaquiles look like! Delicious!

Yelp
Fist time here. Got the chorizo breakfast burrito with egg whites. It was delicious, very flavorful, and tasty Algo fot the cafe de olla latte, it was also very very delicious. Will be coming back.

Yelp
Easily the best breakfast I've had this year. I split a chilaquiles and breakfast burrito with my boyfriend. 10/10

Yelp
This is a hidden gem of a spot. Inside is small and cozy and the food is . Excellent breakfast burritos, house made salsa, and the nicest wait staff.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try this place for a while and today's the day! They were super friendly and the food was delicious!

Yelp
A great little Westside spot for breakfast/breakfast burritos. The ingredients are always fresh. Their salsa compliments the burritos well, and the breakfast burrito meat/potato/cheese mix is spot on. Employees are always friendly and diligent in making sure they provide service.

Yelp
So for my cousins birthday I was treated to lunch/dinner to a menu taste test of this new restaurant her neighbors just opened up. The ambiance may not catch your eye once you step inside you feel so welcomed and right at home. The food is really good. The quesadillas, tacos and Torta and burrito were well prepared. The chef really knows his way around the grill. Each dish we scarfed down so fast because of how delicious it was. I definitely will be picking dinner or lunch to go on from here. I recommend you add this place to your list of mom and pop restaurants in Culver City that are serving great Tex Mex food. PS: Right next door there is a grocery store owned by the restaurant if you need to pick up any last minute groceries home.

Kai X.

Yelp
I got the asada breakfast burrito and it was amazing!! Service was good as well. Would come back

Yelp
Culver City is flooded with tons of places to eat, this place is tucked alongside the Don Felix meat market. It's an all menu, but I went with the Huevos Rancheros- green sauce and carne asada. Got a cup of coffee freshly brewed. Pretty fantastic- not spicy but great flavors. Great service- food came out pretty quick. Only downside is it's pretty small inside, so if you plan on coming with more than four- you'll definitely be lapping it!

Yelp
What an incredible find! The quality of food here is absolutely fantastic. Easily the best breakfast I've had in ages. We tried the huevos rancheros, the enfrijolades, and the pancakes - all insanely delicious and the presentation was really nice too. They have a variety of coffees and the matcha latte was fantastic. The restaurant is small and while not fancy, it had a great vibe. I'm already looking forward to going back. This place is definitely a find!

Yelp
Provecho Calimex is an absolute GEM. I drove by one day and smelled delicious BBQ and I looked over and the owner was working the grill. I promised myself I would stop by and I am so glad I did. Ismael the owner, who started at many of the local farmers markets, had just opened. I asked him for a recommendation and he told me he was gonna cook up something special. He gave me a plate of the most delicious tacos I've had in my LIFE. I follow the whole Taco Madness contest every year, and this place needs to enter because these are some of the most delicious tacos I've had in SoCal. I got a delicious chicken, carne asada, carnitas, and barbacoa plate of tacos along with chips. I ordered rice and beans on the side. The whole thing came out to about $15 which is super reasonable. You can tell that this food is made with love and Ismael is passionate about his food. I'm really rooting for Provecho Calimex and I've since become a regular customer. They also do a killer breakfast. If you want a real authentic Mexican breakfast, this is the spot. I've also seen they are experimenting with delicious lattes and drinks for the am crowd. So happy to have my new favorite Mexican spot just down the street!

Yelp
What a amazing restaurant, great food, amazing service, and the ambiance makes you feel like your home. With times like this the pricing and quality of the food was what really surprised us. I highly recommend trying this restaurant hands down.

Such great, warm and friendly service. Authentic home-style Mexican food with a familiar ambiance. Fresh, good quality ingredients either great local farmers market finds. Small seating area with great music

Yelp
Tried this place because the food looked good in the pictures and I am glad I did, the breakfast burrito was delicious and the ingredients were fresh and a lot better than most other Mexican restaurants. You can tell they take pride in what they're serving you. The service wash great and the host was very friendly. I will definitely be coming back here to try the rest of their food. If you're in the area and are looking for good food I recommend you give them a shot you will not be disappointed.

Gisselle S.

Yelp
On my list of Hidden Gems! Stop by and check them out , very friendly and fast service!

Yelp
A neat breakfast/lunch spot nestled in vicinity of Santa Monica. Came here for breakfast and ordered chilaquiles with red sauce and chorizo, as well as Mexican hot cocoa. Their chilaquiles ring in at a strong 8.73, not to overshadow the Mexican cocoa's strong score of 9.24. Fantastic food and magnificent vibes to come along with it. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Very delicious Mexican food and coffee! I got the quesadilla with carne asada, one carne asada taco, along with an iced latte. The latte was excellent, professional barista style! The food came out quick and was also very tasty! I will definitely be back!

Yelp
Love the charm, the welcoming staff and the awesome food. The burritos are legit (and very fairly priced)!

deborah S.

Yelp
It's been less than a week since my first time here and I am already back. I am incredibly picky about my breakfast burritos and this might be my favorite one in the city! Griddled tortilla! Flavorful and fluffy eggs and potatoes, also has onions and peppers. Devoured!!!! Also, tried the French toast based on the owner's grandma, homey and simple (not that super custard style) and had the huevos rancheros but added carne asada. Really excellent!!!! We also got the shaken espresso with added hazelnut syrup and wow so so good.
google avatar

Janis B.

Yelp
What a great find! The barbacoa quesadilla was outstanding and the breakfast burrito was equally delicious. Can't wait to go back!
google avatar

Maricela S.

Yelp
My new favorite dish "Enfrijoladas". Not just any enfrijolada but more like a quesadilla fused with an enfrijolada topped with fried eggs and dressed in their homemade green salsa. It is delicious. I didn't like it, I loved it.

James K.

Yelp
Ordered a classic carne asada burrito to test this place out and was a bit disappointed. The meat was dry like it was leftovers from the day before. Overall burrito lacked flavor. The salsa that it came with was really small and watery. This place is an extension of a small liquor store/market and share the same space. I'd expect more for a $20 burrito.
google avatar

Alice H.

Yelp
Super delicious breakfast burrito!!! They're really friendly and fast. Looking forward to coming back.

Tatiana C.

Yelp
Best chilaquiles I've ever had that wasn't my Tia's. Green chilaquiles with chicken. This place is gem

A R C.

Yelp
We got their food yesterday. We loved all the food we tried: tacos, quesadilla, huevos rancheros. All the ingredients are fresh. The homemade salsas were very tasty. I am not a big fan of beans but their bean sauce was so good! We even put them on the tacos and finished the bean sauce. The restaurant is not that big, but it's cute inside and the owner and server were very kind. We would like to come back here every week!

Jennifer V.

Yelp
The food was amazing, I would recommend it highly. Service was quick and attentive. Authentic Mexican breakfast food.

Ashley L.

Yelp
Finally found an excellent breakfast burrito on the west side. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality. I got the Oaxacan chorizo and it was bomb. Service was great, fast and friendly. It took about 10 minutes to get my freshly made burritos. It came with some chips and salsa(green and red). You can call your order ahead which is what I'll do next time. The inside is pretty small with only a few tables. Definitely worth checking out!

Brian D.

Yelp
Very good, really quick, and the nicest service. definitely worth it. We had the tacos, chilaquile, and Huevos Rancheros. All good

Paige F.

Yelp
Fabulous place! Their matcha latte and breakfast burrito are delicious!!!! And I'm picky with matcha :). Ishmael was very great and helpful when we couldn't decide what to get. Inside is also very clean. Great place!!!

Jimny M.

Yelp
The food at Provecho Calimex is delicious, some of the best Mexican food west of the 405.
