The Five Best Restaurants for Eggplant Parmesan for Takeout and Delivery in Atlanta, Ask Eater Atlanta | Eater Atlanta

"At Provino’s I can still find Scalini’s famous eggplant parmesan; it remains really delicious, though whether it retains the dish’s old reputation for inducing labor in expectant mothers is unclear." - Beth McKibben

Google
Foods has always been good to great. I was very disappointed to learn earlier this year they no longer use olive oil but canola oil for cooking and the salad dressing. I hadn't been back since, until this visit for a friend's birthdays. Service was good but we really wanted to enjoy our conversation and seeing friends and i felt this time the server was being overly attentive. This hadn't been the case in the past. Not a bad service but definitely not my best visit to this restaurant.

Google
Garlic rolls are the shining star here! Overall, I'd give a 3.5 if I could. The service was great!! The atmosphere was comforting, if that's your style. The other dishes we ordered were honestly below average to average for us. We tried the pasta with alfredo sauce, salad, and a vegetable pasta. We felt that our main dishes lacked flavor and nothing was necessarily good or special about it. The portion sizes were very large, so the prices per portion size was reasonable. We would not dine here again unless we only came for the garlic rolls.

We came by today for a birthday. It's been years since we last came. Everything we had was delicious. I wish I had taken pictures of everything. What I did snap was their house salad, lettuce, cheese, beets, chickpeas, tomato, cucumbers, red cabbage, and mushrooms all tossed in their house italian vinaigrette. It's very refreshing and light. Also, complementary comes their garlic rolls, covered in butter and chunks of garlic. Good luck eating just one! We ordered calamari, which melted in my mouth. The breading was light and seasoned well. For my entree, I ordered the chicken francese. The chicken was so tender that I could cut it with my fork. It's lightly breaded and cooked in a lemon butter sauce. A must try. You choose a side to go with it as well. I went with fettuccine alfredo, which was recommended. The lemon from the chicken cut through the richness of the alfredo perfectly. Lastly, there was strawberry cheesecake. The piece was massive. Cheesecake is my favorite, and this was great. The strawberries were sweet, and the cheesecake was soft. Our waitress was very attentive, super friendly, patient, and answered all our questions. I wish I had remembered her name. No complaints here, and we will be back again.

Google
The food and atmosphere here are wonderful. The draw back tonight was the service. They were so short handed people were lined up out the door.

Google
One of my favorite Italian restaurants until last Friday8-8-25. The service was great, however we ordered the Lasagna with meat sauce and the next day my wife and I got very sick. The first time this has happened here. Very disappointed now I am skeptical about going back

Google
Made reservations for my mom's 88th birthday. Everyone was so nice and attentive. Everything was excellent.

Google
I honestly have no idea how this place is in business. I know it sounds harsh but this is coming from someone who is not picky when it comes to pasta at all. I love all pasta. Even mediocre pasta. I even like Ramen ok, but the shrimp scampi that I got from her was so tasteless and bland that I literally took 3 bites and couldn’t eat anymore of it. I will say that the salad and rolls were good but that’s it. Service was slow and inattentive as well. Inside is dark and outdated. My husband strongly disliked his food as well.

Vicki D.

Google
Date night. As I have loved going here it occurred to me that the food and dining experience here is out dated. Although service was good. The food arrived and was so hot with seasoning that we could not eat it. Had we been informed that red pepper is used. We would not have ordered. They don’t say anything about this on the menu. I got an over all sense that Provenos needs a change. Keeping everything as if it is still 1977 gives an old and dirty feel. We will not be back.

Yelp
Every year when it's my birthday, I always come to Provino's. Their food is great especially the Garlic Bread. I usually order the Chicken Alfredo as my entree, and it is great too. I do have one problem though. Throughout the years, I have noticed the Garlic Bread has become smaller and smaller. The taste does not change; it has always been my favorite thing to eat there. Besides the Garlic Bread getting smaller, the customer service and servers are great, and the food comes out on time and is always tasty.

Rhonda H.

Yelp
Our favorite Italian place. The garlic rolls are the best. We take guests there constantly and have never had a guest that didn't love it.

Yelp
If you're looking for a traditional Italian food experience with very cool old world decor, then head out to Provino's. Plenty of seating with both intimate booths or tables and open large tables for big groups. But the amazing entrees is what brings Provino's to the top. My Shrimp and Scallops were amazing. Thick rich Alfredo cream sauce covering soft tender shrimp and scallops over a pasta. Just delicious. Other hits at the table were the Scampi Al Forno, Chicken Francese and the stuffed mushroom appetizer. All were causing moans, groans, oohs and ahhs of delight. The Spumoni and Tiramisu were equally delicious. Spumoni with the pistachio rum flavored ice cream. and Tiramisu was amazing. A sweet creamy flavor, the lady fingers were not over soaked and still had body and I like the fact that the coffee flavor was not over powering. An A plus indeed. A great place with awesome service. Perfect for dates, families or friends.

Yelp
We went for Mother's Day- we originally had picked another restaurant. Provino's had a much shorter line, making it the winner. The service was great. Ask for ROBERT. He's the waiter you want. The antipasto was good and filling. The salad was fresh. I ordered the cannelloni Del Mar; my wife got the shrimp and scallops. We traded meals. The cannelloni Del Mar was too sweet for my tastes. The bread wasn't my bag. It wasn't bad, but I'm not a huge fan of rolls. The tiramisu had an interesting presentation in a chilled sundae glass. Flavor was good but was heavy on the whipped cream. Price was not bad- pretty well in line with an average night out for dinner. Parking is great.

Yelp
My family loves this restaurant! The food is always delicious. The garlic rolls and salad are definitely better here than anywhere else! I've tried several dishes, but my go-to is the fettuccine daniello - it's soooo good! Sausage & peppers, lasagna & their daily special pastas are the other go-to's for our family. The kids' meal portions are good & our picky kids even love all the food here. The staff are always helpful and friendly. The environment is comfortable & has a cozy old world feel to it. They've got lots of booths that offer a nice amount of privacy & a more intimate feel. And - they are still giving free meals on your birthday! (We bring the kid's birth certificates on their bdays since they don't have id's yet lol) I highly recommend Provino's for a yummy Italian meal!

Yelp
We had an excellent family dinner. Savanna did a great job of serving us. Our meals were flavorful and plentiful. The ambiance is the best Italian in Canton. Highly recommended

Yelp
Amazing find in Northern Georgia for good Italian food. Very tasty and delicious. We couldn't be more pleased with the experience

Yelp
We've been coming to this location for years. Every family birthday, we always visit for the free birthday meal and I can honestly say in the 10+ years of visits, we have never once had a bad experience. Our waitress this weekend was so friendly and interacted with our toddler, which we always appreciate. She kept our drinks and rolls refilled and kept making sure our dinner was enjoyable. The chicken francese and the chicken alfredo are always my go-to items here. I was happily surprised to find that since the francese comes with a side of pasta, you can substitute that for fettuccini alfredo and receive the best of both worlds. We love the intimate seating here as well. The dimmed lights and set up of the booths really gives you a family dinner experience unlike most other restaurants in the area. We'll continue to be life long customers!

Yelp
I absolutely love this restaurant More than you know !!!! Help ME !!! Am laying down sideways, I need sleep baby 4 1/2 stars Poking my fingers at thar MF

Tracy S.

Yelp
First time I went I was not a big fan. I didn't think I'd go back but I gave it another chance and I was not disappointed. I had a special pesto shrimp that was delicious. I wish they'd add it to the menu. Ambiance was unique and cozy. Service was very good.

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised to have this Italian restaurant so close to my house. I had this restaurants food twice before through a catered work event and that was pretty good too. When you walk in you get a blast of garlic but in the best possible way. It was dimly lit and much larger on the inside then it looks from the outside. We were quickly seated in a comfortable booth. The service was friendly. After we ordered she brought out salad and garlic rolls. Both were above average in my opinion. I really liked the beets and garbanzo beans. The rest of the food came out quickly. The apps of calamari and fried cheese raviolis were fantastic. There was a lot of calamari for the price. I would suggest that they serve it with a wedge or two of lemon. The marinara was really chunky. I prefer smoother but it had a good taste. My main meal of fettuccine was a large portion! I asked for some crushed red peppers to spice it up. The pasta was cooked perfectly but I did find the sauce a little bland. I would probably order it again though. Overall the meal was extremely successful. I would highly recommend it if you are in the area.

Yelp
The food was excellent. I love the staff as well. And the ambiance was just awesome. We love the paintings.

Yelp
Food, service and employees are excellent. Their salad and garlic butter bread is divine! Love that they have Spumoni ice cream too!!!!

Yelp
The food was okay, but nothing special. Service was very good, attentive and prompt. The ambience was very nice, warm and friendly.

Yelp
I went to Provino's couple times and had an amazing experience, service and food. I enjoyed my visit every time. I will definitely be back.

Gina S.

Yelp
This was my first visit to Provino's. It reminded me of Olive Garden, with all you can eat salad and garlic rolls (instead of bread sticks). The service was excellent, the food was pretty good, and the prices were reasonable. All of the entrees were a generous size. I will definitely be going back.

Jeanie S.

Yelp
Nice ambiance, wonderful service and adequate food. The veal Francese was swimming in way too much sauce, and the veal was a little too thick, making it tough...should have been able to cut it with a fork...The meat sauce for the spaghetti lacked enough actual meat! We've been coming here for years, so we might go back and just try something different...the spumoni was delicious also, and salad and garlic rolls were delicious!
google avatar

Craig G.

Yelp
My dish was terrible, but everything else was good. My wife's Cannelloni Genovese was incredibly delicious and thankfully she couldn't finish it off so I ate the remainder and left the majority of my entrée untouched. I won't order the Pasta Lover again since the sauce was so flavorless and the pasta was sitting in a lake of water that gave the dish a metallic taste. The meatball and sausage that topped it were fine. In the future I'll ask for Rosatella Sauce be substituted on my pasta. The garlic rolls were great. And the salad was a unique flavor. It contains beets, but they aren't strongly pickled. I'd normally pick them out, but since they were neutral in flavor they didn't alter my enjoyment of the salad. Service was friendly, but drink refills and service was a bit too slow.

Yelp
Canton Provino's has been my favorite Italian Restaurant for years. It never disappoints.

Yelp
Very delicious local authentic Italian restaurant! We've been a few times and it's always a favorite experience! The garlic bread and salad are wonderful but the main dishes are the best part! The staff are always very attentive and friendly and the food is always quick, hot and fresh! There is usually a wait when we go, and it's absolutely worth it.
google avatar

John G.

Yelp
My wife and I came here to enjoy a meal with our son. The restaurant was not busy, not even a wait in the lobby and because my son was not there yet, the restaurant would not seat us. I asked for a manager and I was just told that it was the policy. What? Who doesn't make an exception in this case. The restaurant could sell more alcohol or appetizers if they would just sit the party that is waiting for someone else. Why not accommodate you are in the service/ hospitality business! I will not be back and tonight they missed over $100.00 of my business for sub par food.
google avatar

Yelp
Can honestly say I found one if not the best Italian food in Atlanta!!!! (Even tho it's outside Atlanta). The food is delicious and the environment is cozy. The service is exquisite. If they would've had a full bar then that would be a done deal
google avatar

Peter B.

Yelp
My wife and I love this place! The salad and garlic rolls are to die for! Most main courses and desserts are excellent! However, stay away from anything that has the watery and tasteless meat sauce.
google avatar

Andy W.

Yelp
Very enjoyable, good food, good service in a very casual atmosphere. The salad Italian dressing is perfectly balanced. Eggplant parmesan was generous wity layers of ricotta in between. Pasta lovers was good, not exceptional though geneorous portion with delicious mushrooms. Kennesaw location is also very good, our normal haunt.

Yelp
I have been eating at Provino's restaurant for nearly 40 years (Roswell & Canton) & it has always been wonderful!! The food is delicious, the salad, and rolls are amazing!! The wait staff is typically very knowledgeable about the menu & attentive to our table. The restaurant has a rustic, Italian-feel, nice enough for a date night, yet also family-friendly.

Ava L.

Yelp
i tried to place a take out order after going to my son's game, they stop taking orders at 9:30, I called at 9:31, and Lauren turned me down. I begged for an exception, but by this time it was 9:32. i get rules are rules, but really? You could not make an exception for 2 minutes? I will never dine there, I will start believing the reviews.

Yelp
We used to eat at the Provino's near the Mall of Georgia when we lived near there. Our whole family liked it. After we moved away a few years ago, we rarely get to dine at a Provino's as they have no locations near us. We were on a Sunday outing to Gibbs Gardens and finished just before lunchtime. I had scouted venues ahead of time, and this place was less than 25 minutes away. We pulled off I-575 and located the restaurant within a mile, set back in a large plaza. There were not a lot of customers when we arrived (probably right after they opened for lunch), so we temporarily had a whole room to ourselves. Some other people did come in before we left, but I assume there was a post-church lunch rush at some point. Service was good. We ordered some of the dishes we used to get, and they were still quite good. I enjoyed the spinach tortellini. They also serve a bowl of salad as well as garlic rolls (with dipping butter). Everyone was quite happy with the meal and we had some leftovers for lunch the next day also. Were I in this area again, I'd gladly go back.

Kayle H.

Yelp
I went here like two years ago and wasn't a big fan but recently went back and I absolutely loved it. Our server was so nice and we split the chicken and sausage penne pasta, very tasty and the portion sizes were perfect. 10/10 would go again

Yelp
Provino's is a family favorite. Their food over the years is consistently very good. We have always had great service there. It has a nice family feel or you can have a smaller sitting area for a more intimate or romantic dinner with your significant other. The dinner rolls they bring you before and during dinner or swimming in butter and chunks of garlic, so good. They bring a traditional salad that you can toss with their own house dressing, and it is very good as well. And they do have a broad range of offerings on their menu from traditional pastas to seafood to chicken and even veal if that is your thing. I highly recommend this restaurant and hope you enjoy it as much as our family does. And if you go on your birthday and show them your ID or license, you can get a free dinner on your birthday. One of the few places it still does things like this.

Isabelle H.

Yelp
I want to start by saying that my husband and I absolutely LOVE Provinos and that my family has continuously gone to this chain since it was just "Marco's". Before it ever was sold and split into Provinos and Scalinis. In light of this I do have to share an experience that was out of the realm of any experience that I've ever had here. My husband and I recently moved to the area and were ecstatic to see that there was still a Provinos close enough for us to go to. It has been my pregnancy craving for the last 2 months! (Lol). We had been at least 3 times to this Canton location with no issues- great food! Tonight we invited my sister and brother-in-law to join us and were excited to all eat together. My sister got a later start driving and was 15 minutes away when my husband and I walked in to get a table. We were planning to go ahead and order a few appetizers so that we could get started (we were starving). The hostess greeted us and when I told her it was a table for 4; she asked me where the rest of our party was. I responded that they were about 15 minutes away and before just walking away, she told me she would seat us when they arrived. 3 tables of families left while we waited and the restaurant was not busy at all. No one came in while we waited. If this is their policy; okay. I understand. I was trying to be patient, but my husband was worried about me because I was getting incredibly hungry and it makes me sick if I don't eat quickly enough after getting hungry (thanks pregnancy!). He walked up to the stand to ask if we could be seated a little bit faster so that we could order food and the hostess instead asked where the rest of our party was once again. I said about 5 minutes away and we were then told by the hostess and another worker at the front that we would not be allowed to be seated and they could not let us order appetizers.... Interesting. One kind worker did offer to bring me a tea at the front thankfully and we continued to wait. When my sister showed up; I was sharing with her what had happened to us and was upset by the fact that we literally were not allowed to eat because she hadn't arrived yet. As I did this; the hostess called to us and just said "you can follow me" without being anywhere near. I told her we were thinking and would be just a minute to which she immediately went to the other 4 standing around the counter and started gossiping and my whole party could hear. My sister took over and told them we would pay for the tea, but would be leaving. We were going to walk to the next door down to go to Outback. It was genuinely unfortunate as I love this restaurant, but will gladly drive back to the Kennesaw location from now on. Very uncomfortable. Again; if this is the policy, then I understand. I just don't agree with it and won't support it after going to the chain for over 15 years. It's hard to imagine not wanting to seat guests so that they can start purchasing things.

Nancy G.

Yelp
My all time favorite Italian restaurant. Everything they serve is just absolutely amazing!! If you have out of town guest I recommend PROVINO,S Your guest will be totally impressed at the quality of the service, food, ambiance and prices. Very reasonably priced and just incredible. It's my entire family's go to place for birthdays or any celebration. Are we "regulars ". Oh yes and you won't find anything on the menu that is not completely wonderful.

Marty A.

Yelp
I have enjoyed Provinos for over 30 years at various locations in Atlanta metro area. This location in Canton is outstanding in every way food, staff and the setting - I highly recommend it. Their garlic rolls are phenomenal their never ending salad bowl as everything that a salad lover will enjoy. Marty

Yelp
We went out for my birthday and everything was fine until we got the food. Everyone in the party's food was good except for one. My mom got shrimp parmesan it was visibly burnt. But she was still served it. She waited around to see if the waitress "Kinze or Kelsey " would come back so she could tell her that it wasn't good but she didn't come back until we were all done eating. My mom still told her that it was so tuff that she could eat it. The waitress said that it was because the shrimp didn't cook well in the oven and they had to double cook it. She did ask my mom if she could make her something else. But by this point we all where done eating and didn't want to have to wait for something else. My father was upset by the double cooked comments so he asked to speak to manager. A man named Charles came to the table and said he was manager and he had personally cooked my mom meal and their was nothing wrong with it. My dad said that he felt like we should be compensated for my mom's meal since she didn't eat. He got a attitude and snatched up the ticket and left. While we where waiting on him to come back the waitress came back to table and started arguing with us about the meal and saying the manager said we told him she wouldn't do anything for us. I was completely taken back by the way she treated us. She said that she hears comments like this all the time and we just wanted a free meal. Needless to say we will no longer be going back to the Provinos in Canton it has really gone down hill and after many year of going there I have never been treated as badly as I was this last visit.

Shane M.

Yelp
Still one of my favorite restaurants for 20 plus years! Always blessed with good meals and service. Family of 5 go once a week
google avatar

Julie B.

Yelp
My family celebrated my birthday here last night. We visit every month and as always, the food was delicious! They used impeccable precautions for COVID while still allowing a very comfortable and intimate ambiance. I absolutely love the Chicken Francese and those garlic rolls! What makes this visit so exceptional was how they took such great care of my granddaughter and her mother. My granddaughter has severe food allergies (dairy, egg, soy, peanut, etc). Dan and his staff took such excellent care of them. We greatly appreciate it! Thank you! Highly recommend!

George C.

Yelp
Great all around experience! Food, pace, service, and ambience! I will return. That is it!

Turner G.

Yelp
Food was bad and soggy and served in a pool of sauce that makes the skin on the chicken soggy, don't even have the ability to melt the garlic and butter together just throw minced garlic on top and ambiance is dull and outdated. Service was fine nothing crazy wouldn't recommend
google avatar

Michael B.

Yelp
Provino's is good, but I wouldn't say great. We came here on several occasions for birthdays since they give you a free meal for your birthday. Although their pasta and other dishes I've had have just been ok; the garlic knots here were really good. Service is friendly here, but a little on the slow side. It's hard to get drink refills when they get busy; maybe they are a little short staffed. Also the kitchen sometimes takes a while to get your food out to you.
google avatar

Sherry K.

Yelp
Had a salad and the beet was almost mushy--- I was violently sick all evening- I still am. The foods tasted a but bland.... Never dreamed how sick I would get. The only other meal I had was breakfast with my husband at home and we ate the same thing.
google avatar

Julie F.

Yelp
As always this restaurant is always my go to for Italian food. Nothing else compares to the food served here. I have been eating here for years and never fails me. It's hard to say which dishes are better than others, every time I order different dishes each time.
google avatar

Macy T.

Yelp
I'm a regular here for birthdays for myself and family as it's free on your birthday up to $14.95. I highly recommend the spinach tortellini Alfredo and really everything else on the menu. All pasta dishes come with garlic rolls and house salad. The service is friendly and the atmosphere is nice. They have a bar or sit down area. You can also order Togo. One of my favorite restaurants.
google avatar

Nickolas H.

Yelp
Very good selection of food and drinks! Will definitely be back in the future! Lasagna is definitely a good go to item on the menu.
google avatar

Gordon S.

Yelp
Not too much can be said about this restaurant. Of course, in Canton, that gives it a 5 star rating. Veal- blah Pasta-gummy Wine-I want it out of the box on the left, please.

Paul T.

Yelp
Apparently they are not hurting for business. We have a birthday girl in the house. We wanted to spend $150+ on a to go order and add in a free order of pasta (for the birthday girl -- we had the driver's license to prove that today was her birthday) and they opted to decline their birthday offer of a free meal, because we didn't feel comfortable dining in. We've been Provino's and Scalini's customers for decades. No longer.
google avatar

Jennifer D.

Yelp
We had a group of 15 for mother in laws birthday. We called the week before and the manager was so nice and said he would have a table in the back for us. We were sat within 3 minutes of arrival at 5 pm on a Saturday afternoon. Immediately after our server Stephanie asked us if we were ready for drinks or if we were waiting on the rest of our party. She continued to be attentive and friendly all night. Excellent service. The garlic rolls were abundant and delicious. The salad was so good. The addition of beets and chick peas really sets it apart. My shrimp al forno was excellent and huge! My mother in law is Italian so she's picky about Italian food. Her eggplant was fantastic. Our entire table was pleased with their meals, wine, etc...even low carb or low fat diets were accommodated by the staff. We will make this our permanent location for family gatherings.

Tara T.

Yelp
Our waiter really didn't know the menu. but most important, I told him it was my birthday and gave him my driver license as he asked. I thought I would enjoy one of their specialty pasta dishes and dessert for free as stated on their website. The waiter gave me my bill and it included the pasta dinner and he only gave me the dessert for free. This is very poor service. and then I had to ask/remind him to give me back my DL. THE GARLIC TOLLS WERE WHOTE NOT A HINT OF being OVEN BAKED. I was nice. I didn't say anything. didn't want to cause a seen in my bday. BUT I CAN SEE NOW WHY YOUR RATINGS ARE SO LOW!

Norma S.

Yelp
We visited here for a birthday dinner which was free. The waitress was exceptional, food was ample & delicious and the noise level was low so we could actually talk! Their menu also has a great selection! It was an enjoyable time and we plan to eat here often with friends.

Keith B.

Yelp
The place wasn't very busy last night (Tuesday), but the staff apparently didn't have time to clean the table or the floor for our 8 person group. There was trash (napkins, straw wrappers and lemon quarters) on the floor from the previous patrons as well as a liquid on one of the 4 tables. We even commented to the hostess expecting someone to come back and finish cleaning the area. When the waitress came by we asked for the table to be wiped off. The food was ok. Rolls were hard as a rock even after soaking in butter. We've been to this restaurant at least once a month for the last 10 years and it seems they just don't care anymore.

Sabrina M.

Yelp
Tonight we decided to come into Provinos in Canton, we haven't been since we moved to Blue Ridge, and we were in the area. The food was amazing as always, and the service was pretty good. The one thing I want to make a note of was that our waiter was often seen up at the bar area massaging and scratching the back of another waitress. It's not something I want to see while I'm eating dinner, but I was essentially forced to considering our table was in eyesight of the bar. Other than the slight unprofessionalism, everything was great as always.
