Creative drinks and cool vibe make PS a winner!
First, when you walk in to Pine and Polk, you’re greeted with a lovely shop filled with local, mostly female and minority made goods that you can’t help but take home with you (we ended up getting miss Mona’s chocolate yuzu ice cream which was fantastic). The entrance to the bar is hidden but you are brought in after checking in with the cashier in the front room.
The actual bar is very spacious, a nice shift from the usual tiny New York speakeasy. My girlfriend and I both ordered 3 cocktails, each more interestingly named than the last. They ranged from good to excellent with our favourite being the genever and sochu based “A Splendid Day”.
To go along with the drinks, they give you a free little tasting of popcorn which was very appreciated. We also ordered the fried olives and the special of the day, a pretzel with beer cheese which was extremely satisfying.
To top it all off, our bartender Melissa was a joy to be around and gave us a little extra cocktail taster at the end of the night!
Overall, we really enjoyed our time at PS and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a great cocktail bar.
