PS at Pine & Polk

Behind the hidden walls of Pine and Polk is one of NYC best kept secrets. Enter through a secret door and be transported back in time to the 'Roaring 20's' speakeasy where hushed whispers, dim lighting, create the perfect romantic escape. A visit to PS (Pacific Standard) sets the ambience. The secret password allows passage through this door and gives you access to their inspired menu of small plates, charcuterie boards and craft cocktails. Service is first class and the staff are willing to share which menu items are their favorites. We were lucky to meet Alyssa, the owner who entertained and delighted us with conversations about how the idea grew into a reality. I wish them continued success.

We’ve been to many cocktail bars all over the world. Typically by the second round we would have at least one subpar cocktail. Here, we tried almost half the menu and everything was amazing. We had such a great time trying different cocktails as well as conversing with Karissa, in a beautifully designed space that this has become one of our favorite cocktail bars in the world. Highly, highly recommend!

This place is incredible! The vibe, service, and drinks were all phenomenal. We tried nearly half the menu and each drink was fantastic, truly some of the best and most unique cocktails I’ve ever had. Can’t recommend this place enough!!!

Run don’t walk. This place is amazing. No detail has been left to chance. Karissa is phenomenal, as is the decor, owner, and service in general. I can’t say enough good things. The drinks are quite literally unparalleled. The service is wonderful. The space is beautiful. This is it folks. I hate to share a place I love so much, but they deserve every recognition.

Creative drinks and cool vibe make PS a winner! First, when you walk in to Pine and Polk, you’re greeted with a lovely shop filled with local, mostly female and minority made goods that you can’t help but take home with you (we ended up getting miss Mona’s chocolate yuzu ice cream which was fantastic). The entrance to the bar is hidden but you are brought in after checking in with the cashier in the front room. The actual bar is very spacious, a nice shift from the usual tiny New York speakeasy. My girlfriend and I both ordered 3 cocktails, each more interestingly named than the last. They ranged from good to excellent with our favourite being the genever and sochu based “A Splendid Day”. To go along with the drinks, they give you a free little tasting of popcorn which was very appreciated. We also ordered the fried olives and the special of the day, a pretzel with beer cheese which was extremely satisfying. To top it all off, our bartender Melissa was a joy to be around and gave us a little extra cocktail taster at the end of the night! Overall, we really enjoyed our time at PS and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a great cocktail bar.
