Decent, but the food at Psito could use more seasoning - Review - Atlanta - The Infatuation

"Sure, Psito is the best spot in Summerhill to grab gyros, but that’s because it’s the only place in the neighborhood serving them. The small order counter hasn’t changed much from its Hot Dog Pete days beyond a new coat of paint. The breezy patio is still the main attraction here, but now, that's more so because the food doesn't do much to steal that spotlight. If you are here, opt for the pita sandwich with shredded braised lamb. The meat drips with juices, and there's a subtle sweetness that meshes well with the juicy tomatoes. Skip the bland chicken that’s so dry it’s borderline jerky. Rice bowls suffer from a lack of seasoning too, so order the creamy tzatziki spread and use it liberally to give your bowl a boost. While we'd prefer to taste proteins with a few more herbs or at the very least, salt, Psito is still adequate for a quick lunch in a pinch. And you can end the meal with a cup of frozen yogurt that they make in-house. Food Rundown Chicken Sandwich The pita isn’t as fluffy as we’d like it to be, but it’s the best part of the gyro (that should tell you something). The chicken is dryer than a neglected house plant, but it's workable when drenched in tzatziki. photo credit: Juli Horsford Lamb Sandwich This is the same sandwich as above, but we like it with the lamb, which adds a nice sweetness that meshes well with the tomatoes and onions. It’s incredibly juicy so grab extra napkins, but don't get too hyped—it's still just an OK option. photo credit: Juli Horsford Psito Bowl Somehow this bowl manages to have nine ingredients that combine to form zero flavors. Load up on the salty olives and tangy pickled red onions because the freekeh tabbouleh base and egg halves don’t bring anything to the table. Greek Fries There’s really nothing Greek about these, but the fries themselves are crispy and good. They come with some parsley and parmesan, which seems like a missed opportunity to utilize feta instead." - Juli Horsford

Google
Psito is a great lunch choice if you want something quick and fresh in Summerhill. The Greek-leaning menu has several interesting options but I went for the Psito bowl which looked nutritionally dense. It didn’t change my life but it was good! I recommend getting a side of their tzatziki which was quite good with a thick, satisfying texture in addition to the dressing that comes with. Overall, service was excellent and fast. The place was cute and clean. I’d eat there again.

We’ve eaten at Psito four times, once dine in and 3 times we’ve picked up take out. We absolutely love the food, it’s so fresh, tasty, and a really nice healthy affordable option. I love Greek food and they just get it right. You have to try the lamb hummus, a nice tender piece of lamb over creamy hummus and pickled red onion. I usually get the Psito bowl with chicken suvlaki, I really love the freekah tabboulah. I haven’t tried the Greek olive oil and sea salt frozen yogurt yet but the last time we were there someone else was raving about it. All this to say- give Psito a try, I really think you’ll enjoy it!

Google
10 out of 10 would recommend! The food is so good, it’s real fast, the people are kind, and it’s a cool space. I’m hooked on the Chicken Pita. The Blue Durango iced tea is great as well! You can even grab a beer and sit on the patio. It was so good I forgot to take a pic before eating everything.

Google
we were so excited to try this psito out since it’s a new spot for the neighborhood but was met with extreme let down. first the pita bread is paper thin! which causes everything to fall apart and is unmanageable to eat. the braised lamb is shredded lamb that didn’t taste fresh at all! more like low quality meat shredded and covered in sauce! way too many onions on the outside with zero lettuce. the fries are nothing of greek fries i have seen at my multi visit to various greek restaurants. my wife’s chicken pita had dry large chunks on unseasoned chicken in it as well. what a let down we were sad with this experience. hopefully they can fix these menu items. we paid good money to receive low quality food

Google
Psito is hands down the best restaurant in Summerhill. The pitas are soft and fluffy and the meat is so tender, they use real fresh herbs, the sides are fresh and authentic and the frozen yogurt OH MY GOD it’s incredible and I can’t believe I just found out about it. Light years better than Big Frosty, I mean not even close. It’s flavorful, creamy, rich, and with olive oil + sea salt it’s another experience all together. I really hope this place succeeds - it’s my new favorite!

Google
Update-Psito Bowl is still King. The salads are amazing. I devoured em. 2nd time visit. So healthy and delicious. Great seating, price, service & parking. I was looking for the UPS store and saw this small place. Parked in back labeled spaces for office +retail. People were staring at the window so I wanted to go check out the menu. It didn’t seem like they had much but their menu is very simple and organized in a way that there’s plenty enough for lunch here . Great job on the menu design and menu selection. I’d call this; small and mighty. I eat a salad five days a week for lunch or at least three days. They have lamb and chicken also. If I was working in the area, I would definitely stop by here a couple times a week. Very affordable lunch. Great colors and great ingredients without all the mess. Clean place with adequate seating, clean restroom-adequately stocked, good lunch vibes. Big menu display inside and printouts so it’s easy to select. A young lady helped me well and maybe a manager stepped in to explain Frekkah Tabbouleh. The guy did a wonderful job explaining it and made me want to try the Psito Bowl. The ancient grain has a charcoal smoke flavor, which is great. All of the staff should definitely be trained to explain this as I’m sure it’ll be asked. I ordered the lamb hummus with pita bread, butterbeans and the Psito Bowl featuring-Frekkah Tabbouleh with no meat flesh. Asked for vinaigrette also. It’s Lemony Goodness. Very unique, love it. Spilled it in the car, lol. Love the paper products which shows an understanding for how plastics leak into our food. Great job. Food came out fast-no major wait. The butter beans had great flavor with a little twang that I’m sure was used since meat isn’t used. Fair portion for the price. Not quite southern but good enough for sure. Maybe an 8.8 out of 10. The lamb hummus was quite tasty. I had to look at my receipt because it doesn’t look like hummus. I get scared of dairy when I see thin whitish cream. I’m just confused because it’s not what I expect from hummus. Great flavor on the lamb and nice sauce with red onion pickled, which is unique But hummus is usually thicker. This one’s hard to rate. Maybe I’d try the lamb on something else, I did see a picture of it on the sandwich, I was trying to avoid bread. The pita bread taste very authentic, rich flavor, and great portion for the price. Impressed with this bread. You can dip it in the vinaigrette or scoop up items from your salad. PSITO BOWL-I can see why they hang their hat on this. It’s a little different from a salad because of its chew, but it is technically a salad just not with leafy green lettuce-they do have that here and I hear is pretty good. I tore it up. Didn’t wanna share but I did, lol. Very efficient little color place. Highly recommend! 5-Star today-the Hummus threw me off a bit-maybe a heads up on what to expect.

Google
Reviews based on portion sizes are unfair to any new restaurant. The food is incredible and the meats they use taste amazing. I’ve had the beef, pork and chicken. The Psito bowl comes with avocado and egg making it a great healthy meal. Lima beans have a ton of flavor. Everything I’ve tried has been delicious!

The prior hot dog joint has finally been replaced with delicious Greek food! Not a lot of seating inside but there’s a beautiful outdoor space shared with Hero Donuts. It’s quick service dining where you order at the counter, they give you a number and they bring food out to you. They have a small menu that consists of hummus, sandwiches, bowls and the best part, frozen yogurt. Their servings of salad is huge! They fill it to the brim. I ordered mine with beef souvlaki and while it had good flavor, some of the pieces were too chewy and overcooked. This is a warning that their sandwiches are very small in size. The pita is not much bigger than the palm of your hand so you may need to order sides with it, or two sandwiches. I did not get to try their frozen yogurt but I will come back and try them.

Yelp
Incredible all around! I've eaten here at least five times now and will keep returning. The beef souvlaki is my go to - soft chewy fluffy pita with perfectly cooked meat and fresh herbs, plus they have fresh and authentic sides and INCREDIBLE frozen yogurt that puts Big Softie to shame!! I hope this place catches on and stays in business forever.

Yelp
This is a great addition to the Summerhill neighborhood. It's a quick service with a few tables inside but I always dine outdoors. I've been here a few times and it appears they have changed their menu again. Sides used to be included if you order a sandwich but now sides are a la carte. I got the chicken souvlaki sandwich with a side of Greek potatoes. They gave me a number and brought my food out to me. The sandwiches seem to be bigger portions now too. It was filled with chicken and veggies and tzatziki. The chicken was grilled and had a nice char but a tad too dry. It helped that the sandwich was loaded with sauce. The Greek potatoes were very lemony but needed a little bit of salt or garlic to balance out the sour. It's a good portion for quick easy lunch. Will be coming back here again soon.

Yelp
Psito is a great lunch spot that's reasonably priced with good food. They have plenty to pick from and it's easy to order online.

Yelp
This lil gem in downtown summerhill is an absolute must! As someone that works in the service industry this place is all about incredible customer service. Tamika the manager took such good care of us the past two times we came in. The food portions are big for the price and by the end of your meal I highly recommend getting the baklava frozen yogurt it is to die for! We will be back

Yelp
Very good service, convenient and great food! Healthy lunch option when you need something to go.

Yelp
We were a little wary of initial reviews but after visiting, I can confidently say that Psito will be a new favorite! The patio is super cute and is perfect for eating outside. We both ordered the psito bowl with chicken, and Greek fries to share. The bowl is super fresh and I felt really good after having it. Lots of veggies, avocado, chickpeas, protein for a small extra charge, grains. Plus the dressing that comes with it is amazing. I think it's a preserved lemon dressing? I would buy it if I could! Fries were solid too. Didn't feel too greasy. My fiancé and I frequent the Cava across the street quite often, but I think Psito will be our new go-to! The food is so much fresher, we're supporting a small business, and it's a similar price point! Definitely recommend.

Yelp
So nice to have a quick, delicious and healthy option! Everything we ordered was yummy, so you can't go wrong. Always get points from me for a fountain Diet Coke. Great covered outdoor patio and plenty of parking in the lot down the street. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
I tried Psito for lunch today because I wanted something different and I'm so glad I did! I got the veggie souvlaki pita and the Freekeh Tabouleh. Both were excellent! The vegetables for my pita were grilled when I ordered them...over an open flame. The tabouleh is made with chewy grains and a bright, lemony dressing that had real lemons in it. But the fresh, pillowy pita bread alone is reason enough to go there. Altogether it's absolutely addictive! I may go back tonight for dinner

Yelp
Fresh and flavorful! Great outdoor seating. Staff is always friendly and hand-deliver your order. A fun spot I keep coming back to!

Yelp
While I dearly miss Hot Dog Pete's and their amazing chicken tenders, the Psito menu is a fantastic replacement. I do not understand why there isn't a line out of the door here every night. Psito has become my "don't feel like cooking tonight" place to go because the food is simple, fresh and delicious, and its one of the best values in town. The hummus has a beautiful creamy texture and the right amount of tahini flavor. With lamb, peppers and pickled onions added, it's a meal unto itself. The souvlakis are all fantastic. The real standout though is the roast chicken. For $20 you get a whole bird with perfectly crispy skin and moist tender meat. So good. I may never roast a chicken at home again. Make sure you get gravy, just don't tell your cardiologist. Every side is a fantastic interpretation of classic Greek dishes. The tabbouleh is an herby delight and the lima beans are an amazing surprise. Either wine on the menu pairs perfectly with the food, but the white is a great dry, minerally compliment to most of the dishes. Save room for the frozen yogurt. Oh. My. God. Or, just come here to satisfy that soft serve craving Instead of waiting in the looooong line at Big Softie (well deserved as it is) and try any of the Frozen yogurt toppings. Sweet, tangy, rich, smooth, delicious. Psito is a hidden gem in the treasure pile of Georgia Ave. establishments.

Yelp
I ordered the beef pita and Greek salad to go. Both were delicious! I was looking for a local gyro but their pitas give everyone a run for their money. Chunks of perfectly grilled beef was amazing. They have beer on tap and a great outdoor seating area. Free parking in back.

Yelp
this was so mid... especially comparing to Nick's nearby or Cava even in terms of Mediterranean. got a chicken wrap, side of potatoes, and side of hummus with pita. the pita was so undercooked I didn't even eat the hummus with it and got a different pita to use. potatoes had a lemon sauce on them that is SO salty. chicken was overcooked and chewy and had big chopped raw tomato and white onion as the toppings. super disappointing, especially since there was an actual good restaurant there before called Hot Dog Pete's.
