Phuong Trang Opening Modern Vietnamese Spinoff - Eater San Diego

"For the first time in decades, the longstanding restaurant is taking its greatest hits on the road and opening a spinoff location just up the street on Clairemont Mesa Boulevard. First spotted by mmm-yoso, it’s called PT Eatery and will part of the same complex as the newly-opened Mikami Sushi where it replaces Pho T Cali. Debuting on Monday, November 18 and open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., it will serve a condensed menu made up of Phuong Trang’s top-selling dishes, says general manager Ikaika Patria. From banh mi to pho, vegetarian dishes, vermicelli bowls, and seafood, Patria says that every plate will be cooked in the traditional Phuong Trang style, just presented a little differently in a more contemporary manner to appeal to diners who might still be unfamiliar with Vietnamese food." - Candice Woo

PT Eatery is a casual, laid-back spot serving classic Vietnamese favorites like pho, fresh rolls, and rice plates. I ordered the house special broken rice dish, which felt like a sampler plate. It came with shredded pork, steamed egg meatloaf, ground shrimp, and rice, along with a choice of protein (pork patty, pork chop, beef, or chicken). I went with the chicken. My wife had the beef short rib pho. Both dishes were flavorful and well-prepared overall. The broth in the pho was rich, and the short rib was tender. My plate was satisfying, though the chicken was unfortunately overcooked and came out dry, and the shredded pork was a bit tough to chew. Despite that, it was still a great experience. The service was solid, and the variety on the menu makes me want to come back and try other dishes. It seems like PT Eatery has been around for quite a while and I can see why.

Very good tofu Bahn Mi! I ordered with a side of broth for the “dip” effect. Very well seasoned tofu and some fantastic pho broth.

Amazing place for a delicious Vietnamese meal!! We saw this place multiple times and finally got to try it because we had to charge our car in that parking lot. This place is surprisingly delicious. I had something I never had before, it is coconut milk rice noodles. Wow! It is tooooooo good to describe. I just suggest everyone to try it out if you like coconut. My husband had a big bone pho with adding noodles. The bone looked spectacular, and it carried a lot of meat on it. I highly recommend this place!

I am visiting from Austin & this restaurant was recommended to me. I wasn’t even hungry when friends & I got there for lunch but I ordered the lemongrass tofu dish & I was very surprised that it was likely the best tofu dish I have had in 35 yrs of being vegetarian (last 5 yrs plant based). It was crispy on the outside but soft & airy on the inside with super delicious sauce & seasoning. My dish was also generous, a heap of tofu chunks that I could make into 2 more meals. My friends also loved their egg rolls & soup dishes.

As a vietnamese person, this is one of our favorite spots to eat at! You can't go wrong with any of the dishes, but I like getting the bùn thịt nướng chả giờ (pork vermicelli noodles and egg rolls). Their fried chicken wings are the best in town, get both kinds every time. So good. The workers are nice and they have great seating, you can usually get a table right away or without a terribly long wait. One thing they did once was forget my dish that I ordered completely, but since I was eating family style it wasn't a big deal, I was just a little disappointed. Overall 10/10.

Google
We basically ordered the entire menu.... Egg rolls Ribs Chicken Wings Fried Rice Boba Tea Soup Orange Chicken My top 3 favorites would be the egg rolls, chicken wings and orange chicken! This was my first experience here and it was amazing! All the food was delicious and beautiful. And tasted good as leftovers as well. Definitely EAT HERE! 🤤

We found this 2nd location through a sign on the door of their first location wc was closed on Mondays & Tuesdays Phuong Trang Vietnamese Cuisine. A wonderful smile greeted us, as the lady server handed us the menus. I ordered the House Special Pho and my hubby got the Seafood Pho. I also ordered the Shrimp Salad Roll for an appetizers and it was tasty and well made. Our Pho arrived shortly and it was piping hot as I expected. A bit on the "salty" side but we were very hungry and continued to enjoy it. Had plenty of meats and veggies in it. I couldn't finish mine so I requested for a to-go box. This lunch was quite enjoyable, except, I had a taste for the Lumpia (eggroll) and our Server was very apologetic as supply was nil. We liked their service and will be back in another week.

Google
We came here for early dinner on Sat & got seated right away. The food is decent, however most of their utensils & dipping condiments are either in the package to-go or in plastic one-time use. It's minus point to dine in at the restaurant. It makes me feel like I'm eating to-go food.

Yelp
Came here during lunchtime during a weekday. The parking outside is very easy due to it being in a large plaza. I don't think anyone will have an issue with the wait time either. The restaurant is very large and clean inside. Ordered the broken rice combo with the pork chop. I have to say, the food was absolutely delicious. I ate everything. Would highly recommend this spot in the future.

Yelp
Their fried chicken wings are a game-changer! Location: There is plenty of free parking at the restaurant, they have a parking lot in front of their restaurant. The restaurant itself is pretty big so there is plenty of seating. Food: The pho broth is good, however, I would purely go for their fried chicken wings. They are the perfect amount of crispy and juicy. I would highly recommend getting their wings. Service: Their service here is pretty standard. The food comes out fast, they sit you down fast and are very attentive to your table. Overall, I would go for their fried chicken wings.

Yelp
Is PT Eatery the best pho restaurant in this area? Yes, easily. The XL Combo Pho was much larger than other nearby places by at least a 25% margin, for slightly less cost. Now the question really is, does one really need such an enormous portion of pho? And again I would answer yes because it is delicious and I'm sure there is a list of health benefits somewhere. Plus it is extremely tasty with just the right savory light flavor. Post-hoc justifications aside, the restaurant was clean and well-maintained. I was immediately helped when I walked in and the giant bowl of pho came out within two minutes. It's a larger establishment so they have capacity to handle good size groups and busy times. While almost everybody was enjoying the pho, there were a few other dishes that looked quite tasty as well. So their other food will also fit the bill if you're looking for something else. Someone got this sizzling thing that looked amazing. Five stars and this is going to be on my regular list of lunch places near La Jolla.

Yelp
Back for my fave here #BigKnuckleBonePho and #EggRolls I really should try something else but when you know a sure thing. Friends got pork chops and chicken banh mi. We enjoyed our meal and the service was pleasant and we didn't wait too long. It was a Monday late lunch. They were preparing for a party that looks they roll their own spring rolls with steamed fish. May need to try that next. Server said it takes time to prepare and should it in.

Yelp
This is one of our family favorite spots. We took my mother in law since she was craving Asian food. My husband go to pho is Rare Steak and Brisket, which he loves. My girls and I love the Beef tenderloin and fried rice. This time we tried the Kung Pao Chicken and the Walnut shrimp. These were just ok, probably won't order them again but there are plenty items on the menu that we want to try! Service is always great and the food comes out fast. Love this local spot!

Yelp
We love this warm and clean restaurant with plentiful seating. Service here was fast and friendly. Parking is plentiful. Friendly and welcoming local ownership here. We love their special menu items such as the outstanding French dip. It's a must try. We love their authentic pho and their amazing garlic butter wings. It's consistently delicious here and a Vietnamese restaurant favorite for our family.

Yelp
Prices here are decent. I ordered a marinated steak and onions that came on a sizzling cast iron plate. A side of fried rice came with it for just under $20. They didn't over season the rice which was good as the steak was more than enough. They threw in a side of pepper which was a nice touch. Food came out relatively quick. Left with a full belly. Can't wait to go back and try some pho which they had as well.

Yelp
Love coming to this restaurant. Our go to dishes: Appetizers: -Fried eggrolls -Fried chicken wings with fish sauce Main course: -Banh hoi with charbroiled pork and rice paper wrap on the side. -Bo Loc Lac with with fried rice -Fried catfish with rice paper wrap on the side Staff are always friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere is inviting and cozy. A must try.

Yelp
Food is good here but service is very bad. They will also automatically charge you 18% gratuity if you have 5 people in your party. Normally it is supposed to be 18% automatic gratuity if it is 6 ppl or more. Please be aware that you will be charged 18% if you have 5 people in your party. Sad to say that this place has really gone down hill and I won't be returning here for the following reasons: food price increase, bad service, and 18% automatic gratuity on party of 5. I will be going strictly to pho duyen mai as they have more reasonable prices and won't charge you 18% for party of 5

Yelp
Food is good. I come here for quite a while and always pretty good. Service is also good. Servers working very hard. However, I don't know if that was a manager or owner of this restaurant who was yelling at server in front of all the customers is pretty annoying. Poor server don't deserve that for whatever happened it's just embarrassing and ruin my dinner time. That manager has a temper If I were that server I would just walk out.

Yelp
Two rolls of the shrimp paste rolls for $8.50. Rolls were a good size and service was quick and easy. Plenty of parking and restaurant has ample seating.

Yelp
This is another of San Diego's best Phó restaurants. Extremely busy on weekends. Luckily, I went for lunch on Thursday and it was not very busy, mostly families. This restaurant is the second restaurant of the original, more traditional Phuông Trang. Something that I absolutely find smart here and makes this my favorite place is the utensils aren't on the table and the hoisin sauce and schriracha are in packets versus the unsanitary bottles that sit on the table along with a caddy of chopsticks and spoons; kudos for cleanliness! They had an area for large parties, decorated with beautiful simplicity for a wedding. I started with Vietnamese egg rolls, they use the glutinous rice paper which is extra crispy when fried with great texture and flavor. The filling was nice and meaty, along with a good amount of fresh leaves of romaine, mint and coriander and rice vinegar/fish sauce. Then came the meal, I had the extra large Pho and my friend had pork cutlet and broken rice. Plating was very nice, and for my Phó a large portion of garnish vegetables. If you're not very hungry get a smaller bowl of noodles; this is a lot of food. The broth is legit, it has good depth and flavor. The amount of meat and quality is appreciated. The amount of noodles was adequate and cooked properly. The pork cutlet plate was so good! Rice cooked perfect, Beautiful even char and cook on the pork and lightly seasoned, comes with a fresh vegetable garnish. A definite place to frequent with friends for really delicious Phó and Vietnamese food!

Yelp
I said I wasn't gonna come back, but here I am... like I mentioned in my last review, the tables had nothing on it. No utensils or napkins upon walking in. No sauces, nothing. They bring it out to you when you sit. For me, I just find that odd! But apparently that's becoming the norm. We pre-ordered the fried/grilled catfish for lunch. After we were all seated, the water glasses came out fast. The waitress felt like she was rushing the rest of us who were looking through the menu to order what we want. I felt so rushed, I didn't even look. In a way, I'm glad I didn't order anything because the fish was enough for all of us to share. The fish was beautifully soft and there was only one big bone throughout the fish. Therefore we were lucky that we didn't have to spit out the bones when we made our spring rolls! We were given a large amount of lettuce and herbs & veggies, and pineapple to go with it. I really enjoyed the juicy ripe pineapple with fish! I dipped mine into fish sauce but mam tom was also an option. I personally wouldn't get the fried eggrolls again. But the shaking beef was tasty. I think it they cut it into cubes rather than rectangles it would be even better. Large restaurant with ample seating.

Yelp
We came in on Monday evening in 2024... the food was good. We got the house special and a chicken pho bowl. The chicken pho was a bit dry, but my BF approved of the special. The wings were crispy and delicious! The place was clean and the food came out quickly. When you're ready to pay you take your check up to the front.

Yelp
I'm a huge fan of this eatery. It does have similarities between Phuong Trang down the road because it's the same family (cooks), but with a spin ... and a good one! Knuckle bone soup was my favorite. The portion is intimidating but I look at it like there's a lot to share. We also tried the oxtail pho and stew. All are very tasty! They're generous with vegetables but I can't stand the packets of hoisin and "sriracha". At least they have small ramekins of chili oil.
google avatar

Angel D.

Yelp
This place is usually packed with patrons on the weekends, but the wait is not bad unless you come with a crowd. This is a sister shop to Phuong Trang, receiving some of their overflow patrons who don't want to wait in line over there. The menu is not the same but many of the most popular items can be found at both spots. This location has a more modern, decorated look and has more Asian fusion food like stir fries. Sadly, while the taste is up to par, the last few times I've eaten here I am so darn thirsty that I wonder if someone is being a little too heavy-handed with the MSG.
google avatar

Yelp
A lot of people come here because it fits a lot of people. The food's alright, but it's the space that's great. Also, they recommended me the beef tenderloin, but I thought it was just okay.
google avatar

Nick S.

Yelp
I used to be a regular at PT Eatery, mainly for their amazing garlic butter wings and beef rib pho. However, lately, I've noticed a decline in the quality of the pho - it's become rather mediocre, and the beef rib was tough to chew. It's a minor annoyance, but all the hoisin and sriracha sauces are now in packets, which takes extra time to squeeze out. I suppose it's a clever way for the owners to portion out the sauces, but it's not the most convenient for customers. On the bright side, the wings are still delicious, but I'll be passing on the beef rib pho from now on.

Yelp
For two people, there wasn't a wait when we got there at around 12 PM on a Saturday. The inside of the restaurant was classy. I recommend getting a large if you're hungry. This place hooks it up with meat which most Vietnamese places do not!Excited to come here again and try their other items! Bun Rieu - 8.5/10 Hue - 8/10

Yelp
My wife and I went there for the first time Saturday night and we loved the storefront in first approaching the eatery. Upon entering the decor is ulta modern and vibrant and it was very busy but the eatery is huge so you really dont feel it at all. The food was a ten and we have never seen such a diverse menu at a Vietnamese place. We ordered the garlic and butter chicken wings, the house special broken rice with pork and a shrimp dish and the food was delicious. Their is room in the parking lot and they have many TESLA chargers there. We wanted to congratulate the owners, Kayla and Michael for this great eatery and we will be regular customers and will spread the word to family and friends. Continued success and see you soon!

Yelp
I had came here on a Friday afternoon to gather for lunch. There was no lines and we were seated immediately. To my surprise the restaurant was quite packed. Food all came out quickly and we were in and out within 1 hour. I had ordered the Bun Bo Hue, it was not the most authentic but the flavor was there. My coworkers had ordered the beef bone pho and all enjoyed it a lot. Overall I would come back to this spot as it is a quick and easy spot for lunch.

Yelp
Sister restaurant to Phuong Trang on Convoy. Smaller menu, but still tastes great. They have the classic Pho, Rice and noodle dishes, and my favorite Rice paper wraps. Food cooked and served the same as sister site. Minus 1 star, as service is slow sometimes when they are packed they are customers. Phuong Trang can handle the crowd, but this place struggles sometimes. We did notice today one of the main waiters from Phuong Trang was here. And service was quick and it was fairly busy. Good step in the right direction. Great place to eat. We'll be back. Yum!

Yelp
One of my favorite places to take people for Vietnamese food when they're in town. I'm a long time visitor of their OG restaurant, Phương Trang. I love the location of PT eatery A LOT better though. Closer to the freeway, lots of parking (including Tesla superchargers!), and other nearby food places if you somehow didn't eat enough at PT eatery. I always get the following items that NEVER disappoints: -Roasted Catfish (great for a big group of 6 or so people to share) so so good with the rice paper and all the veggies! I get sad when my husband says NO when there's only the two of us. Pro tip, it takes a bit to cook, so call it in about 30 mins prior so you can have it ready for your table. -Butter chicken wings. These can't be healthy for me but they are so flippin' good!!!! The wings are so crunchy with a little sweetness to them -Shrimp papaya salad (Goi Tom) - such a great helping with great flavors in a salad. I love the crispy Shrimp chips that give it a great crunch. Everything I've ordered here has always been great Vietnamese food. It's not fancy but still a great place to take people with great food!
google avatar

Trang L.

Yelp
My family and I came here last night because I wanted to eat roasted catfish. Not a lot of Vietnamese restaurants offer this dish... Not that I know of anyways. Anywho I recommend that you call at least an hour ahead if you'll be ordering this because it can take while. The restaurant was extremely busy and even though I had called earlier - it still took about 20 to 30 minutes for the fish to come out. The fish was massive, but super good! My mom is a very picky eater sometimes... But she really liked their catfish because they did a really good job to get it super crispy, which she loved. I would definitely recommend this dish because it's super good and can probably feed up to five people. The catfish was super juicy, but the skin was crispy and just so delicious. The price is not on the menu because it depends on the market price but it cost us about $102 after tax. Definitely a great dish for maybe a celebration or birthday for sure.

Yelp
My favorite Vietnamese restaurant. Most of the time, I enjoy my experience here. I chose this place to celebrate many of my special occasions. Ordered: -Pork SkewerWrap $15.95- my favorite dish. Every time I dine here, I order the same thing. That's how much I like this dish. I ordered with anchovy sauce. Yummy! -House Brice w Chicken $13.95- fulfilling!

Yelp
Food (4/5): I've ordered a variety of items from PT Eatery, including their wings (which I highly recommend), their sandwiches, pho, bowls, and more. I've never once had a complaint about the food. It is reliable and comes in satisfying portions. Service (3/5): It's really nothing noteworthy or fantastic, but it's also something I've never had a problem with. Ambiance (5/5): Hear me out on this one. The decor is nothing fancy and probably not deserving of a 5/5, but the sheer size of the restaurant makes it possible for me to come with a big party (of 8+), which is pretty uncommon on Convoy. I appreciate their willingness to accommodate larger groups. Drinks (4/5): Refreshing drinks, and a semi-wide variety to choose from. I like their thai tea quite a bit, but it's hard to get a drink here every time since there are a lot of epic boba spots nearby.

Yelp
Got directed over here when we tried to go to their sister location, Phuong Trang over on Convoy which is temporarily closed. Food was great however THEY RAN OUT OF EGGROLLS :((( which is why they lose 1 star for that. But the pork meatball roll and extra large combo pho I got were great! We got seated really quick on a busy Sunday lunch. The place was filled too but they move quick and the service was fast and attentive; filled our waters plenty of times! The restaurant itself is huge and seems like a great place for large groups.

Randall H.

Yelp
We have come here since it opened and gave them business through COVID to help them survive. This place has went downhill fast! The staff are rude and lie when you ask for a booth! After 2 workers said a booth just needed to be cleaned off the guy with glasses lied and said all the booths were reserved for the rest of the night. When I asked to speak to the owner he said he wasn't in! The food is no longer consistent in flavor or volume. The owner needs to check in and retrain the staff as we won't be back!
google avatar

Connie P.

Yelp
What is considered good pho? I honestly don't have a good frame work for what good pho taste like, I just know if it's bad... however, I will say this is where I go for good garlic butter chicken wings. It's a dry fried batter with some tender buttery chicken meat. If you didn't come here to get this, why are you here? This is also one of the go-to-large-party restaurants my friends and I go to. Turnaround is always fast and there's almost always space. Parking is great as well (lots of spaces although a bit tight). If you need a sweet treat after your meal you can walk over to Bei Yuan for some boba in the same plaza
google avatar

Yelp
Food: awesome and flavorful We had the spare rib pho, beef rice wrap, garlic butter ribs, pork & egg roll vermicelli and beef knuckle bone pho. Everything was wonderful! Service: very friendly, knowledgeable & attentive staff Ambience: guests were seated with enough space between groups, it didn't feel crowded at all eventhough there was a huge group in a corner.

Yelp
Pho is great! The broth is on point and the noodles are silky smooth. Not a fan of Pho places that serve cold clumped noodles. The Restaurant is usually busy but never an issue for 1-2 ppl. Service is typically prompt and friendly but has sadly been on the decline. Ambience is okay, the music selection is sad and the loud radio commercials suck! The only annoyance is all sauces come in plastic packets with no cares for trash... At least you get real forks and napkins.

Leslie N.

Yelp
PT eatery will always be one of my favorite spots to have Vietnamese food. I love getting their chicken wings, fried rice, eggrolls, and of course pho! I've be had other things on their menu and all were just as good. This place can get busy but totally worth the wait. I used ti go to their original location Phoung Trang but they get just as busy. Depending on where I'm coming from will determine which spot I go too but both are pretty good!

Yelp
I don't like to come to restaurants near closing time but I walked into their restaurant near afraid that I was cutting it close. Their staff let us know that were still had a bunch of time and sat us down and we were able to order even so close to closing time. Their staff was friendly and just awesome. Their garlic butter chicken is a must. Their house special broken rice is to die for. They made it so well and the proportion was filling. Good food and great vibes.

Yelp
If you come here, definitely try their grilled pork patty broken rice dish! It comes with a steamed pork cake, fried shrimp patty, shredded pork, and a variety of veggies. It's always consistently good every time I have it! The flavor of the grilled pork patty is perfect and all of the additions make it that much more enjoyable! The presentation was nice and the food came quick. I really appreciated that they accepted our rushed reservation of 10 people despite knowing that they had a huge party of 35 coming in moments after us. The restaurant is fairly large, so luckily it wasn't packed when we went. It's pretty isolated from the other restaurants in the plaza, so parking isn't too hard to find!

Yelp
We came to PT Eatery as one time we went to their sister restaurant Phuong Trang and they were closed and they redirected us here. Since we enjoy Phuong Truong so much it made sense to try PT eatery as well. Feeling peckish I personally got appetizers that I could just eat as finger food - the deep fried pork ribs and the deep fried tofu. Both were just so crispy and great! The ribs were only slightly sweet like I like it and the tofu used a crispy rice flour it seems that I love rather than the only slightly crispy fried tofu you get elsewhere. Others in the group enjoyed their food as well and we all marveled at the huge beef patella that one in our group ordered as a side. If you're feeling like a side a caveman would turn to for sustenance don't be shy!

Yelp
Other than this place always taking a long time to seat the guests the food is amazing! Been here 2x and when arriving have to stand there for a while until someone acknowledges my presence. Same with the groups that came behind me just standing there. Once seated the ordering process is quick and food comes out in a timely manner. Their Pho is equally as good as my favorite place Pho Hoa on El Cajon blvd. Their broth isn't greasy, it has an awesome flavor which I can identify all of the individual ingredients and ample portions of beef. Their bun rieu was delicious, the chicken and BBQ pork meatball rolls were also delicious. But their Pho stands out and that Fred Flintstone's Brontosaurus sized rib (knuckle) is amazing! For sure will be back.

Yelp
First of all, I appreciate that they're open on Thanksgiving day. We called one day before to order a crispy grilled fish to pick up on Thanksgiving day. We asked if we could come and pick up the food in the morning, and they said yes. When we came to pick up the food, no food was ready. We waited for more than 30 minutes and still didn't get the food yet. They had my phone number, which I would expect them to call us if they were behind rather than sitting and waiting for more than 30 minutes and did not know when our food was ready. I never experienced this type of situation before, which makes me so disappointed!

Yelp
Went here twice and did not have a good experience both times. Service here is terrible and the food is mediocre. The first time we came here, our half of our entree came out (the meat) and the rice took 15 minutes after. We kept asking the server for rice to eat with our food and by the time it came out our food was cold. - Do not get this BBH or pho here, they use the same broth and very citrusy - Do not get their fried catfish here - I called in a few days before and asked explicitly for a small/medium fish and they were adamant about upcharging and bringing the biggest fish out so they can charge more - The filet mignon steak bites was the best thing I had there

Yelp
Located in the same plaza as Lolita, across the street from 99 ranch. Parking isn't too bad. I've heard mix reviews here from friends. No condiments on the tables, you have to ask for what you want: i.e. chili paste, chili oil, fish sauce, etc. This place is definitely a lot more newer and modern, even has young Americanized Asians taking orders and serving us. They do not serve the exact same foods as the original Phuong Trang on convoy and seem to run out of certain things towards the end of the night. We usually get the sweet & sour fish soup but they don't have that here. The 7 course beef isn't a package on the menu, but each beef can be ordered and sold separately. They still have their whole fried fish which is nice on certain occasions. Love the, make your own fried fish springs rolls and 7 course beef. We tried the vermicelli noodles, bun rieu, broken rice, and half fried chicken w/ fried rice. All the different types of meat we got was very well seasoned and very good tasting! The grilled pork Pattie's that came with the broken rice and vermicelli was were delicious. Service was a bit slow. Our waters were never refilled. Some other not so good things was the broken rice was over cooked (smooshy), bun rieu soup was bland, vermicelli noodles felt like they just came out of the fridge. Other than that, restaurant is decent. I definitely prefer the original Phuong Trang though, but this one opens later.

Yelp
They have THE BEST fried tofu!! It has a thick and super crispy, addictive coating. We've had it many times, since trying it for the first time a couple years ago. Just go with the regular Fried Salted Tofu and don't bother with the Lemongrass or Kung Pao. While they're flavorful, the addition of the sauces makes them not as crispy. The pho is also solid, as well as the wings and fried ribs. Service can be spotty, but I recently read an article in Eater, that Asian places with 3 stars are usually better and more authentic, and the reason they get 3 stars is because people are dissatisfied with the service. I would definitely have to agree with that in the case of the PT Eatery's service. But don't let that deter you! This is the kind of place you want to eat at again and again, even if it does take awhile for your server.

Yelp
It was ok. Bummed out it didn't have specific items I love at phuong trang, but it worked out. Still same quality as Phuong Trang

Yelp
This place is decent but i haven't found my favorite dish here yet. Their pho is missing something so it's not my go-to spot, but a place I like to meet a friend at. I like that it's not busy and it's clean. I think next time I'll try the beef dish. I was exploring the menu and tried one of their "specialties" but I wasn't a fan of of the broken rice. Their fried chicken is good or was it chicken wings? It's been while since.

Yelp
Sister restaurant to the original Phung Trang. Very good Vietnamese spot in San Diego. The wings never disappoint especially when you ask for extra garlic! Spring rolls and egg rolls are always a 10 but the filet mignon on the hot plate had absolutely zero flavor. It's super busy so please be prepared to wait a little. Price point was on point for what you get.

Yelp
We've been here a handful of times and we always get their beef tenderloin and baby back ribs. I swear I feel like I'm in a Pavlov experiment when I'm here because every time I hear that tender meat sizzling on that hot plate as the server brings it to my table, it's like music to my ears and my mouth starts watering. Their pork ribs are just as delectable. Lightly battered and fried to a delicate crisp, tossed in garlic butter, s&p and just a little bit of sugar to balance all the savory flavors. Utterly delicious.

Yelp
They were pretty nice and were patient. My friend is kinda slow at ordering haha. But it was good pho and a very fair amount. The meat was like 5/10, pho itself 8/10, noodles 8/10, restaurant 8/10. Would of been nice to have some mint, or some kind of flavor like mint and lemon in the water. Ya know just so it stands out. I've had the black bean fish that was also very good but a little more pricey.

Yelp
This is one of our favorite PHO' in our area. When ever our son craves for soup, this is the first place we go to. The place is clean and bright. The food portion was just about right. The price is okay, it's affordable. The service was very fast. Our food and order always come out fast.

Yelp
PT EATERY IS GREAT! My husband got the rice dish with charred beef he thoroughly enjoyed it! He has a sesame allergy and the staff made special sauces for him and was careful to steer him away from foods that would be unsafe for him like the marinated steak. I had the rare steak pho with extra meat and noodles which was brought out in a separate bowl (my husband consumed much of that) and we also got the vegetarian egg rolls that came with the most amazing sweet tangy sauce. Everything was under 50 dollars. The staff is kind and the vibes in the restaurant are great! DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND EAT AT THIS GREAT PLACE!

Yelp
This is my go to spot locally for Pho in the Kearny Mesa area. Large location with plenty of seating, and friendly service. Highly recommend
