Public Eat & Drink is nestled just a few minutes' walk from the vibrant Mass MoCA museum in North Adams. This industrial chic restaurant is a delightful culinary gem that encapsulates the essence of comfort food with a modern twist. The ambiance strikes a perfect balance between rustic charm and contemporary style, featuring an array of talented local art that enhances the industrial aesthetic and creates a warm, inviting atmosphere. The menu boasts a range of American cuisine classics, but what sets this restaurant apart is their innovative approach. The standout dish for me was undoubtedly the fennel sausage mussels, which were hands down the best I've ever had. The combination of flavors was nothing short of spectacular, elevating a traditional favorite into an extraordinary dining experience. To complement my meal, I indulged in their crafted cocktails, each one meticulously prepared and bursting with unexpected flavor. The pineapple rice pudding, served as a delightful surprise, wrapped up my meal beautifully. Its unexpected twist was a highlight, showcasing the chef’s creativity and commitment to making comfort food exciting. The service was equally impressive; the staff were friendly, attentive, and exhibited a thorough knowledge of both the menu and the local area. Their passion for the food and the community was evident in every interaction. Overall, this restaurant is a must-visit for anyone in the North Adams area. With its deliciously creative cuisine, enjoyable ambiance, and top-notch service, it effortlessly combines the best of industrial style with culinary excellence.

Public is one of our favorite local restaurants. Their menu changes seasonally so there’s often something new. Great salads and burgers, better tacos and tuna nachos. Inventive cocktails and good wine list.

Usually I prefer not choosing American food restaurant, but this one really impressed me with their food taste and quality. Definitely a must go if you are around. Their food just tastes wonderful, and service is pretty nice as well.

As two friends who enjoy good food we were excited to try this place before a concert on Friday night. Based on the high rating of Google reviews we had high hopes. Although nothing about our experience was terrible it definitely didn't leave us planning to return. The bartender was not very friendly, she seemed like she didn't really enjoy people and didn't make any effort to connect with any guests that we saw, and certainly not us. She did ensure our waters were full which we appreciated and our food came out quickly which was nice. I got the fish & chips and my friend got the falafel. My fish & chips had a weird texture, the batter just slipped off the fish and it had a strong pickle taste which wasn't mentioned on the menu; I assume it was brined in pickle juice, as someone who doesn't like pickles I found it overpowering. The tartar sauce had nice flavors and I could tell it was homemade. My friend said her falafel had a very odd texture, it was completely smooth, and normally falafel isn't smooth, she ate a few bites but wasn't a fan. We had planned to try dessert but with our disappointing meals we decided to forgo it. Perhaps we were there on an off night, but our experience certainly left something to be desired.

My favorite local restaurant. I visit at least 1-2x month. Love their beyond burger, falafel, flatbreads. They had an elote flatbread I hope they bring back seasonally. Whatever their salmon w. grains and veggies dish is, it's worth treating yourself. Drinks are great. Atmosphere is elevated casual. They always feature a local artist's paintings on the walls for sale.

Had a great first experience here. Even though it was very busy, the staff was attentive and we didn’t wait long for our food. The food was absolutely delicious. Will come again!

Worst experience in north Adams - orders steak frite - got steak and mashed potatoes . Mussels smelled like farts - fish and chips was the smallest portion of fish ive ever seen. - service was mediocre despite being one of three tables. Will never go again.

Don't Waste Your Money on Their "Wine" Skip the bottles at this place. If you must order by the glass, taste it first – they're selling garbage and hoping you won't notice. I recently celebrated at this spot and got ripped off. Ordered what they claimed was Zweigelt (a fantastic Austrian red) for $60, but received some bizarre, warm, fizzy red mess that should've been served chilled. When I pointed out this wasn't Zweigelt the bartender said it was "good and drinkable." We were stuck with an expensive bottle of what was essentially warm carbonated vinegar masquerading as wine. Save yourself the disappointment and your wallet the damage. While they have responded saying they offered a different bottle they absolutely did not, when we said it was undrinkable they said the wine was good and drinkable, so we ordered and paid for 2 glasses of something else, in addition to paying for the undrinkable bottle of red wine. we left 2 full glasses of the bad wine on the bar and were given a half bottle to take home which we threw out. While they say it is a staff and crowd favorite that can also be served warm, if it was actually anyone's favorite they would have served it chilled which is what the maker recommends, as I found out later when I looked up the wine to see why it was nothing like a typical zweigelt. It was an austrian sparkling red made from a zweigelt grape served warm. somewhat like serving a sparkling shiraz warm and advertising it as a syrah.
