Philly’s Newest Wawa Has an Opening Date | Eater Philly

"Per Curbed Philly, I'm aware that a 'historic, one-of-a-kind' Wawa is planned for the Independence Mall area and will go into the Public Ledger Building at 6th and Chestnut, with more details to be released soon." - Rachel Vigoda

Given the Era in which this historic building was created, I expected more luxury in the apartment conversion of thus firmer office building. However, it's nice but builder basic. Could have used some designer touches. Lax front desk security -- often not staffed and I got right in behind a tenant. No staff overseeing lobby, despite a desk. Hard to call as voice-mail said "transferring to concierge" and disconnected after several unanswered rings. Three times. Many stairs to main entrance; "handicapped entrance" is through back courtyard delivery entrance. Entire first floor seemed wheelchair friendly. Nice, casual community room, small gym, business computers with good background for FaceTime. Aside from entire first floor be8ng unstained and unsupervised, it's a well-located, historic building with reasonably priced apartments and nice community spaces. I think the hidden leading office should be relocated to main entrance area to back up the often (or always) absent "concietge"/security.

This SoSuite took so many cheap corners with outfitting the rooms I can't even count them all. No water pressure, water temp scalding or freezing, room temp inconsistent despite heater running constantly, back pain from too-soft mattress. It was clean, so we stayed, but we won't book it again.

The new Wawa across from Independence Hall is huge and well stocked. It's set up great to accommodate large tour groups. There are cushioned chairs for weary walkers. The food ordering tablets are well away from the food bar and so is the tableware. There are plenty of bathrooms. All looks clean and inviting. It's really nice.

Lobby staff on the afternoon of December 8th was incredibly rude to our wedding party as we tried to make our way to the reception. Communicated poorly with the Downtown Club upstairs and started yelling at everyone as we were trying to figure out where to go.

Wanted to see what the hype was about with the largest Wawa. It is not what I was expecting. I thought it was going to be so much more but it's just a regular Wawa just in a big space. The store was very clean but the bathrooms(which you need a passcode to get into) were not very clean. I thought they were going to have fresh donuts and stuff all day but I went around 4:30pm and they only had a limited selection and weren't making anymore. I guess I was just expecting more. But if you are in the area it's worth a trip!

Still working on the 7th floor bathroom. How long does it take really? At least throw up a box of tissues or something. Really not cool to have to run down. Flight of stairs just to blow my nose. LAME. Doorman/woman is always very nice. Front doors are AWFUL, I always walk into them when I'm leaving because they open that weird 3/4 way.

I went to see if the Welfare office is open to consumers. The security guard was nice, and came to the doors that were locked on 8th Street, to say it wasn't open. Luckily my benefits came through from my online PA Compass application, because the only way you can get someone on the phone is if you call right at 8am, and that's not always possible.

The Public Ledger Building in Philadelphia is a beacon of history and architectural beauty! Nestled at 6th and Chestnut Streets, this grand structure was designed by Horace Trumbauer in the Georgian Revival-style. It’s a treasure trove of stories, once housing the city’s most widely read paper from 1836 to 1942. Today, it’s a vibrant hub of luxury residences, offices, and even a flagship store. Imagine living in a place where every corner whispers tales of the past—truly a gem in the heart of Philly!
