My overall experience has been very positive. Public platform is very easy yo use for the most part and everything is easy to find. It is NOT cluttered up with tons of charts and all the fancy bells and whistles you might get on other platforms (which, depending on whether you are just investing or actively trading, might be something you need). So for a beginner investor it is perfect and if you want the charts there are other platforms like (Schwab -Think or Swim or TradingView Free Account) where you can basically get the charting ad all that for free. So for the all around passive investor or new investor it is probably the most friendly and intuitive of them all.
That being said, there are a number of (what I consider) basic investment tools like conditional (bracket) orders or AKA Exit Strategies (that anyone who trades even once or twice a week would need) that simply are not available on Public platform. In particular, the ability to set a "Trailing" Stop/Loss and OCO (One Cancels Other) type orders. Why they aren't available, I have no idea, but it certainly is an issue. So much so, that with certain investments, I have to basically liquidate that asset and then relocate those funds to a completely different platform. So that is something you would need to consider if you plan on trading at all. I Love the platform but just cannot for the life of me figure out why they haven't made some of the most basic investment needs (like a trailing stop/loss ) available to their customers/investors.
So, as I become a more astute investor, I find myself beginning to liquidate and move my assets elsewhere. It's unfortunate because, like I said, I really really love the platform. But business is business and I just don't have the time or the patients to keep revisiting each investment and constantly updating my stops. Hopefully someone in a leadership position at Public will eventually take note, listen to their customers and make an effort retain them rather than just letting us all go. I hope this was at least somewhat helpful. Tim H. Palm Springs, CA
