Texas Rangers Legend Pudge Rodriguez Will Open a Pizzeria - Eater Dallas

"Legendary Texas Rangers catcher and current media personality Ivan “Pudge” Rodriguez is getting into the pizza game. Rodriguez is set to open his very first restaurant, Pudge’s Pizza, at Texas Live, the forthcoming entertainment and dining district in Arlington, reports CultureMap. The pizzeria will be located on the complex’s second floor, bringing a family-friendly dining destination to the massive complex, which will also be home to restaurants from Troy Aikman and spiky-haired Food Network personality Guy Fieri. It’s unclear exactly what type of pizza will be on offer — New York-style thin crust? Pan pies? Those weird pretzel crust pies served at Globe Life Park? — but the Hall of Famer’s endorsement is likely all it needs to succeed in Arlington, home of the Texas Rangers. “I look forward to seeing all my fans and sharing a good slice of pizza with my Rangers community at Pudge’s Pizza, come August,” Rodriguez said in a statement. Pudge’s Pizza will debut at Texas Live on August 9." - Amy McCarthy

Walk up location, although there are seats throughout Texas live. One strange note: no drink orders available. Not even sodas are offered. Seems odd you'd sell pizza but no drinks. Had to get drinks elsewhere in the complex.

We love coming to Texas, live, this is our one stop shop where we always get a delicious chicken barbecue pizza and add bacon :-) unfortunately this past experience at the Logan Paul and Mike Tyson fight was not as enjoyable as it has always been. Upon ordering the cashier immediately told me that the pizza that wanted wasn’t able to be made. . . I have ordered this exact pizza over five times at this establishment. Once I explained to her that they literally always make it. She Didn’t apologize or explain anything further rather just typed in a few things on the computer and told me my price . . . so assuming that the situation has been rectified I asked for a side of ranch which she said they had none of. 20 minutes later I come to pick up my pizza I wanted to talk to one of the pizza makers who was super sweet! as I’m trying to speak to her and attempted to give her a tip for her hard work and customer service the same African-American lady who took our order in the beginning, proceeded to physically get in between me and the worker. It was very uncomfortable and awkward. She told her something along the lines of “you can keep working” or “do you need anything else?”Something like that, I felt very bad for the lady who refused to take the tip. I began speaking to her in Spanish, which clearly made the initial woman irate. . Once I finally asked what her name was so I could properly complain she told me “if I want to tip the pizza worker I can it’s fine” I once again asked for her name after I asked for her name and she said something like. “Meachy” or “peachy”. I think it’s utterly rude how she treated me as a customer and what I assume to be her workers. Preventing them from speaking to guest and butting into conversations while giving lackluster service is insane. She does not need to be working at this location where people are trying to have an enjoyable atmosphere, maybe a remote job.

I arrived at 11:35 pm and wanted to order entire pizzas for my large group. I was told only individual pepperoni and cheese slices. I paid TRIPLE what I would have if I had been able to order the entire pizza like I intended.

Taste like a cheap pizza a 5 year old eats. Virtually no tomato sauce and taste bland as cardboard.

Came here from out of town after a ballgame. My husband went up to the window prior to closing to order a pizza and was told he could not order a pizza due to the closing time. There was a very limited selection of slices available, but he noticed some prepared pizzas on a rack behind the counter and asked if one of those could be purchased. The worker on duty(who stated she was the manager) said those were not an option. When he asked why, she didn’t have an answer. A few moments later, which would have been after the closing time noted by the “manager”, someone in our party (a female) went up to the counter to see if there were any slices still available. The same manager that my husband spoke to told her that they could make her a whole pizza because the slice she requested was not available. I approached the counter at that time to ask why another customer was given a pizza when my husband who came while the restaurant was open was denied. I stated that it seemed inappropriate and that exceptions shouldn’t be made because you would rather serve them than others. The manager was extremely rude especially when I told her she was serving someone from the same party she just denied service too. She began to raise her voice and point at me calling me the inappropriate one. She then pointed out that the other customer was nice. I told her again I didn’t not appreciate the inappropriate service and she continued to be rude. I walked away from the counter. Two minutes later the female in our party returned with not one, but pizzas given to her free of charge for her “being nice”. We were willing to pay and order on time, but apparently they give away free pizza to people they like when it’s convenient.

I was in town visiting with friends for the BSimone show… we wanted to explore Dallas before leaving and heading back home and we came to Texas Live Saturday … best fun I’ve had in a while. What top it off was the sweetest young lady name Michelle we met at Pudges, her service was top tier and the food was even more amazing. Will definitely come back if I’m ever in DFW area.

Yelp
Pizza place on the 2nd Floor of Texas Live. It was busy when we went but they did their best to get it out in a timely manner. Pizza was delicious. It's not a full restaurant so you have to find a seat at a table in the area. If you're craving pizza prior to a Rangers game this is your spot!

Yelp
The pizza was delicious before the rangers game. We got the Munson. It was crisp on the outside soft on the inside.

Yelp
Online it says these people close at 1 am but you go there at 11:30 on a Friday and they say they're closed. Asked an employee at 10 what time they close. She said I have no idea. Wtf kinda establishment is this.

Yelp
Most likely it's an employee , but TIM started messaging me through YELP and harassing me about my review . Was unaware I couldn't have my own opinion. Will be taking this farther up . Thank you .

Yelp
My guess is Pudge is just gettin' a check here. Dropped in here to grab a slice of pizza hoping to get a positive and instead it really didn't help the situation. They had some cheese and pepperoni slices so I ordered a pepperoni for $4. Grabbed my slice and walked next door to grab a beer and eat. Not sure what to say other than I really expected it to be better than it was. What I got was a smallish slice of pizza, with what tasted like cheap cheese and bland, almost tasteless pepperoni. I realize a lot of pizza places are going this route, but I'd think that a place with this visibility and name, would at least be a couple notches above. I sure wasn't expecting great pizza, but a slice that had some taste and value should have been a given. When did so many places start using such sad tasting pepperoni? I'd say it was small step above any of the national places on TV that deliver, but not much more. The size, the taste...to me not worth the $4, even considering the venue. Maybe it's because I think Texas Live is really nice, I expect more of the places within it to be better. Is that wrong? I'll give it another try sometime, but currently...I just don't know. They have limited Thur-Sun evening hours and then game day hours only as I can tell.

Yelp
Sober: Terrible Pizza Drunk: Not Terrible Pizza The dough tastes like it's from the frozen food aisle. This place has the advantage of a great location otherwise it would be out of business.

Yelp
Some delicious pizza that will leave you wanting for coming back for more. Best place in Texas live to grab a quick bite.

Yelp
The pizza wasn't bad. The waitress Kayla was awesome and friendly. The nachos were a hit with the hubby.

Yelp
Good luck with the idiots working there. Order a slice of cheese pizza. Told it will take 10 minutes. That's fine, stand to the side. 20 minutes later I see guy who i ordered from selling and handing out slices of cheese on the spot. I ask if he's got the cheese ready and he says "no, just pepperoni". I question him selling to others and he says "have you got your pizza yet?" I inform him all we ordered was a slice of cheese. Goes and brings back this fine last slice sitting in the warmer. HOF catcher prob doesn't want his name associated with such incompetence. You've had almost a month to work out the kinks, no excuses.

Yelp
It was really great pie. I loved the crust. It was crispy and the pizza had a great flavor. Don't remember the name of what I got, but it had pulled chicken and BBQ sauce. Every tasty. I could do without the onions on it tho. I need to try the other pizzas they have too. Lip smackin' good time! Like Arnold says...I'll be back!

Yelp
Worse Pizza place ever. They had about 10 people working but no one could get our order right. We ordered two Pizzas. 30 minutes went by and they weren't ready and said they forgot so they said they would make it right away. My wife went back 10 minutes later and they said they didn't make them still and actually forgot AGAIN. So this time they offered us a couple slices to hold us over because we have 3 kids. When they were finally called our order they only made 1 pizza and said they didn't make the 2nd. My mind was blown and they asked if we wanted the 2nd Pizza. My wife was so over it and told them not to worry about it. So moral of the story we waited about 1hr and only got 1 of our Pizzas. So many other options at Texas Live and I'm really bummed we went with this place. Oh and the Pizza wasn't that good either.

Yelp
Probably the worst pizza I've ever had. No crunch. Soft crust. Service was good. The staff was friendly. Pizza might have been good if I was drunk. When you're spoiled with nizza pizza off Lamar by Kroger, you're standards for pizza are a little higher than most.
