The 22 Best Restaurants In Baltimore - Baltimore - The Infatuation

"Located between Downtown Baltimore and Mount Vernon, you’d be forgiven for missing the door to this intimate cocina. You have to buzz your way in to get into the small dining space that’s a little poorly lit and a little unremarkable in its decor. But the question marks stop there, because everything else is pretty impeccable. The seasonal Peruvian tasting menu features excellent courses like ceviche in tiger’s milk, or well-seasoned veal skewers served with Peruvian corn and rocoto pepper sauce. It’s one of those places where you could show up alone and take down a plate of exceptional lomo saltado, or show up with a date and have a nice chat with the chef (who comes out at the end to talk to every table), all while the service remains completely unrushed." - michele berry

Google
A very cute place with sincere food and I greatly enjoyed my visit :) It's hidden in the corner street and you'll have to find the white door and ring to get in. Great tasting menu with a reasonable price. Every dish was well thought-out and full of details. The dishes were generally on the sour side, which I greatly enjoy, but if you don't like sourness it might be too much. We also ordered chicha morada and I really liked it. The service was attentive while not disruptive. I also liked the interior decorations!

Google
The cutest little restaurant with amazing and flavorful food. This is a spot you want to come to if you don’t like to be rushed and have ample time for dinner. You should expect about three hours for the entire tasting menu, as the restaurant is set up to feel more like Sitting in an oversized kitchen, chatting with family. A place for time doesn’t exist, but food, drink, and all the flavors take over. The BYOB option is pretty great, and would absolutely recommend bringing your own Pisco so that you could enjoy a pisco sour. Would also recommend the in-house purple drink (chicha morada) it’s so unique, made with purple corn, and yet has the sweetness of juice. The hospitality is fantastic and would come back again in a moment. Would absolutely recommend a reservation, though for a weekend. Unfortunately, those without reservations had to be turned away due to the demand for this spot.

This place is everything you love about fine dining but without the pretentious atmosphere. It’s cozy and intimate, the service is quick and attentive, and the seasonal tasting menu is some of the best food I’ve ever had. This place is a hidden gem in Baltimore and if you don’t try it you are missing out. Also bring your own Pisco for the best Pisco sour you’ll ever have.

This meal was exceptional! We had the six course tasting menu and every dish was phenomenal. My personal favorites were the ceviche, the lamb, and the dessert. Each dish was layered in texture and flavor, and everything was cooked to perfection. I highly recommend!

Google
This is a small place with only 8 tables on the main floor, and a large private area in the basement. You will spend 2-3 hours here as food is served in a relaxed non-rushed manner. The food was exquisite! Perfectly complimented flavors that intertwine with each other. My favorite was the second course with the tuna. Though the skewers (first course) and the ceviche (third course) were amazing too.

Google
There was a preset menu, and it was phenomenal. It is byob, so we brought a bottle of pisco, and they used it to make us pisco sours which were yum.

I recently dined at Puerto 511, a unique Peruvian restaurant that offers none traditional menu. Instead, they present "The Experience," a preset 6-course meal that truly lives up to its name. The restaurant is relatively small and unassuming in decor, but what it lacks in flashiness, it more than makes up for in culinary excellence and service. The meal began with a veal skewer (well seasoned, but a tad overcooked for my normal preference). There was a delightful fish ceviche, a perfect balance of flavors ( Coconut milk ginger and other spices. One of my favorite dishes was the tamale, surprisingly paired with seared ahi tuna. The combination was unexpected but absolutely delicious. There was lollipop lamb chop and a shrimp dish. The highlight of the the passion fruit ice cream coffee flan dessert was definitely the passion fruit ice cream. It was very refreshing. The service was impeccable, with the servers being both friendly and attentive. One of my friends cannot eat shrimp and they gladly substitute it with a fish for one of the courses. We were asked up front if we had any allergies or dietary restrictions They paced the courses perfectly, allowing us to fully enjoy each dish without feeling rushed. Do plan to spend at least two hours dining, as this experience is meant to be savored. Overall, dining at this restaurant was a memorable experience, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique and delicious culinary adventure. Be aware, it's a BYOB restaurant.

Google
Amazing dining experience! Had a 6-course meal. The dishes were exquisite. Really good size portions and well-spaced-apart. I don’t eat shellfish and they were very accommodating and replaced it for the protein of my choice. It’s a VERY small restaurant, so make sure you have a reservation and arrive on time! Whole experience lasted about 2 hours for us.

Yelp
One of our favorite places in Balitmore (and certainly our favorite tasting menu)! I provide a full breakdown of the dishes on my Instagram @AmandaTheEpicure if you want visuals, but this spring menu is my favorite so far! I could eat 17 of those tamals and still want more. The cold potato and crab meat dish was stunning, and the ceviche is a dish we constantly reminisce on. Beautiful plating, awesome food. What more could you ask for? There are different menus and prices for weekday versus weekend. P.S.--the chef has opened a new empanada stand, Empa511 on Thames Street! I can't wait to try it

Yelp
Puerto 511 has been on my Yelp list of saved restaurants forever and I was finally able to go after a trip to Peru! The food brought me right back to Cusco and the flavors were so authentic. The food was on point and I was definitely full after the full course meal. All of the courses were fresh and well timed. The service was prompt and they explained each plate carefully. The restaurant on the first floor was small but I didn't feel that I was seated too close to the other takes and the interior was colorful!

Yelp
Any time we visit Puerto 511 we are greeted by Jose the owner and given a warm welcome. The food here has been amazing and delicious everytime. The ceviche is always fresh. The plates are beautiful. The cadence of service is outstanding. We have had so many dishes here, it's hard to pick a favorite. We used to always come for the lomo saltado, ceviche, and paella. The tamal that Jose makes is just such a delicious bite! It's hard to split or share the dish with anyone because the flavors are just singing in your mouth! It's byob here but we love that! So excited to return again soon for another amazing Peruvian meal. We always feel like we are in Peru when dining at Puerto 511! ¡Muchas Gracias Jose!

Yelp
Incredible gem of a place in Baltimore! We went here for a group dinner for a friend's birthday. We had a few dietary restrictions in the party and they were really wonderful to work with and incredibly accommodating. The restaurant itself is very minimalist buddies conducive to great conversation and they have a large downstairs that can accommodate groups. Do note that it is BYOB so be prepared to bring your own beer, wine, or liquor. They make an incredible Pisco Sour but can also prepare Tequila, Mezcal, or other spirits the same way. At $3 each, it's a deal! The food was truly incredible and decently affordable, considering the artistry and portions. 6 courses for $69 is such a steal! The stand out dishes were definitely the ceviche and tamale. I was so stuffed by the time the fifth course came around that I had one bite and gave the rest to the table. The dessert, which featured passionfruit ice cream, was also a favorite. The only thing that could've gone better was the timing of the service. The service itself was incredibly friendly and accommodating and welcoming. However, we were there for about three hours and it just took too long between courses to get the next dish. I know they have a small kitchen, but the pacing could've been a little better. Overall, highly recommended, but make sure you budget enough time as it will be an all evening affair.

Yelp
Tucked behind a door that requires a knock for entry, Puerto 511 is putting Peruvian cuisine on the map in Baltimore! Don't let the hard to find at first entrance throw you off--once inside, you will find yourself in an intimate but vibrant environment where you truly feel as though you've arrived at a close friends home for dinner. Once seated, we were greeted by Chef Victorio himself who not only went over the menu approach but also clarified any allergies, food preferences, etc. I had called a few days in advance to request a vegetarian tasting menu, which the team was happy to accommodate. For a small corkage fee, the restaurant allows BYOB--the Malbec we brought paired beautifully with the meal. I'm not sure where to start with the menu--it was exceptional from top to bottom. The plating is a work of art with rich, eclectic colors and components placed in a manner that exudes the utmost sense of care and pride. The flavors and textures take your palate on an exciting adventure, spanning across the spectrum and making for tasting menu that dishes out surprise after surprise. The dessert was the perfect end to a memorable, and importantly, relaxing, roughly 2 hour dining experience. Thanks so much Chef Victorio and team, and congratulations on a restaurant that is sure to be on everyone's list soon!

Yelp
4.5 Because it did take 2.5 hours to go through all the courses and I was super hungry. Word to the wise, don't show up here starving. That said, everything else about Puerto 511 was impeccable. The venue is super cute, yet small, with about a total of maybe 12 2-seater tables. My friend and I were seated in a small corner out of the way. There was only the 5 course meal as a food option and we didn't bring any drinks with us. We drank copious amounts of water and the carafe was always refilled promptly. The plates, as they trickled out, were some of the most well seasoned and flavorful mix of foods and spices. The plates are small and in some cases I felt I'd have given a toe to get an extra helping (licking the plate was definitely a risk I was considering). Check out their menu online to see each course specifically, there's too much for me to try to detail it. The 5 course option is available Tu/Wed/Thurs for $55 and F/Sa there's a 6 course meal for $69 (I already have a Saturday reservation in a few weeks). Payment was easy, service was good and I'll definitely be back even if it takes longer for the food to arrive at the table. Worth it.

Yelp
I had dinner at Puerto 511 with my husband and some friends a few weeks ago, and I enjoyed the meal overall. What you should know: Puerto 511 is a Peruvian restaurant that only offers a tasting menu (5 courses for $55 Tuesday through Thursday and 6 courses for $69 Friday and Saturday). They are BYOB - we took a few bottles of wine and a bottle of Pisco (you bring the Pisco, they make you Pisco sours). What was great: The food. Everything we ate was delicious. From the menu they are currently serving, I probably enjoyed the skewers and the tamalito the most! The Pisco Sours - fantastic - we had at least two rounds. What wasn't as great (but it's still a very nice experience overall): The meal took a long time (I felt like we were there for ages), but the service was very friendly. The location is downtown, so it's convenient if you're seeing a show nearby. But it's perhaps not the best part of the city for a fancy restaurant? They seem to lock the doors and have you press a doorbell when you arrive for your reservation unless I'm really bad at opening doors. The space itself isn't the nicest space either - clean and comfortable, but more casual than most tasting menu restaurants (not necessarily a bad thing, but just a note for if you're wanting a fancy night out!). We parked in a garage that was a 5 or so minute walk away but you can also find street parking unless something is going on nearby! I really enjoy Peruvian food but I don't often get to enjoy it! So having Puerto 511 in Baltimore is a treat. The food is a treat, so if you're craving some Peruvian, check it out!

Yelp
If you're looking for a 5-star, low key dining experience that feels straight out of New York City but for a fraction of the cost, Puerto 511 is the place to go. I can't recommend it enough! This small, unassuming restaurant packs a punch with big, fresh flavors. It's located on a small side street near the Bromo Arts District. The outside is painted black and you have to ring a doorbell to gain entry. Very speakeasy esque. Once inside, you'll find yourself in a dining room that seats no more than 30 people at once. A small window looks into the bustling kitchen and the walls are lined with colorful artwork. The menu is straightforward: five courses for $55 per person during the week and $65 on the weekends. I love a prix fixe menu that takes all pressure of decision making off of my shoulders. It's BYOB too so we brought a couple bottles of wine to take advantage of the small corkage fee of around $2.50 a person, plus a bottle of pisco to enjoy their famous pisco sour service for just $3 a pop. The pisco sours were absolutely divine - probably the best I've ever had. My boyfriend doesn't even like them normally but ordered quite a few rounds - they were that good! Each course came out perfect, one after the next. The standouts were the tamalito, a play on a deconstructed tamale which was the perfect bite of flavorful corn, fresh radish, and spicy sauce, and then the ceviche which consisted of fresh fish, octopus, and shrimp in a citrusy tiger's milk sauce. My only note is that if you are someone with a dietary restriction, make sure to triple check with the chef about the menu. I made a note in my reservation that I am gluten free and while my dessert was served with no churro to accommodate this, the main entree consisted of steak marinated in soy sauce which is definitely not gluten free. If you have a serious food allergy, this may not be the best place for you given the set menu. That said, I would definitely return to keep supporting Puerto 511. It's a great spot to celebrate a special occasion or even if you just want to impress someone with a unique date night.

Yelp
I went to Puerto sometime back, and I must say it was one of the most enjoyable meals I have had in a long time. I know the restaurant has been around for years, but for some reason or the other haven't been. I knew u could bring a pisco bottle and they will make pisco sours for u, I did that, damn near drank the whole bottle. The sours were a little sweet, but towards the end I told them to make it less sweet. The 5 course menu or was it four was delectable.. for $55 will go again

Yelp
Tried this place out for date night after some friends recommended it. Let's be real, this area of Baltimore is not known for its safety, but the restaurant itself has a doorbell to ring to enter. This is a foodie spot for authentic food, so even though it's not in a "trendy area" it's still worth going! It's an intimate dining room and family owned and run. It is a fixed menu that changes seasonally for $59 per person. This includes a couple starters, an entree and dessert! There was 1 server for the entire place but only about 12 tables. She was kind and as attentive as possible considering how busy she was. The restaurant is BYOB which is nice and if you bring your own liquor they will make you a pisco sour which was delicious! The food speaks for itself and is very good. Not the most insane meal I've ever had but every course was consistently good. Overall great date night experience, fun menu with tapas vibes, and definitely worth a try!

Yelp
I came here for the first time for my birthday and thoroughly enjoyed the tasting menu. I love the fact that the menu is preselected for you and you can just sit back, relax and enjoy. Every bite was DIVINE! It's a small, intimate setting with European style seating. It's BYOB and if you bring a bottle of pisco they will make you rounds of pisco sours that are delectable and strong. Great for a date night. I can't wait to come back!

Yelp
I love me a tasting menu and Baltimore should definitely have more of them! Puerto 511 is a really small restaurant down a side street where you have to ring the doorbell to be let in. I love when I don't have to make decisions for my meal, only what type of alcohol to bring (they're BYOB). Everything is Peruvian and very tasty! I was surprised so many dishes were spicy though; I wasn't expecting that. My favorite was the octopus dish (and I don't even like to eat octopus) - it was so tasty and very well balanced. The flan for dessert was just okay - I was expecting more. Overall a fun and different dining experience in Baltimore. Definitely worth the trip!

Yelp
Was in town for a conference. We unknowingly walked here from the Hilton. Listen, I'm from NYC & telling you to drive or Uber here! The neighborhood is very mixy to say the least! Additionally, I've never had to ring a door bell for a restaurant, they are OPEN. We had a GREAT experience & tasting menu for $55/pp. What an awesome deal! Also, they are BYOB. Every dish was delicious! The ceviche was bangin, lomo saltado was actually tender & not chewy, the crispy churro dessert & mix of flavors w/ the guanabana ice cream. Don't bother trying to cut the churro, lol. This really should be 4.5 stars but ya know Yelp doesn't allow for that. However, I had to drop the star because we kinda waited long at certain points. Totally understandable since I saw the staff with all hands on deck (yes, even the chef)! I'm sure they are at a point where they are busy enough to stay open but not quite to hire more staff. I get it, but can't award 5 stars when it's not completely perfect. PLEASE GO HERE ASAP! I'm so happy we decided to come to this small spot with amazing food! Take my tips about driving there & make sure you have about 2-2 1/2 hrs to dine; which I LOVE. I'm so used to being kicked out asap in NYC, it was soooo nice to have the plates come out perfectly spaced out while enjoying a good conversation! Thank you for having us!

Yelp
Perfect in every way. Puerto 511 is a wonderful dining experience. Each dish is better than the last, and the service is attentive, and thankfully European style slow so one can enjoy their meal. This is without a doubt a top 2 restaurant in Baltimore.

Yelp
Puerto 511 is arguably in my top three favorite restaurants in town and must be protected at all costs. I hadn''t been here since before the pandemic and was pleased to find that they converted to a five-course prix fixe menu that resolved my old complaint about the spot--gorgeous, delicious, but torturously small portions. No more. You get everything you pay for and more! The spot is intimate and warm with service that makes you feel like you reserved the entire restaurant. The standouts were the anticucho with perfectly seared veal leading a symphony of flavors. Who knew Peruvian corn was that amazing? For any vegetarians, you'll be pleased to know that everything is freshly made and thus can be modified to accommodate you. I will enthusiastically return to try their fall menu!

Yelp
As soon as we arrived we were greeted by the owner and made us feel welcome. It's was a great place for a date night with my wife. The food...was SPECTACULAR! The fact that it's a set menu gives us enough time between dishes to enjoy the food and not be in a rush eating them. I wanted to order a second round of the menu, it was that good. Will definitely come back at least once a month!

Yelp
Came in on a Saturday night for date night for the 6 course menu, and for $69, this is a steal! The place is small and requires you to ring a doorbell to be let in. The staff is kind and attentive, and the chef comes and checks on you several times! A few little negatives to point out, but shouldn't necessarily deter you from going: We found a hair in one of our dishes, and it was incredibly hot in the restaurant - the overhead AC was set to 75, but the kitchen was also open and several dishes were grilled, leaving the place uncomfortably hot. For drink, it's BYOB, but we ended up getting a signature of there chicha morada, a Peruvian drink made of purple corn. It was incredible, I wish I could buy it by the gallon! The meal started with complementary plaintains and a sauce (unsure what it was) and the pre-set menu started with Anticucho which was delicious. We loved the Peruvian corn with it, it was huge! Next, my favorite dish, Causa escabechada, the shrimp was grilled to perfection and the mashed potatoes were perfect! The tamal de quinoa was also incredible, this was my fiancés favorite! The tuna was seared to perfection. The ceviche de rocoto was next - I typically wouldn't choose to order ceviche, but I actually really enjoyed this dish. For the last savory course, we got Cordero and beet salad. I enjoyed the beet salad a lot, but the lamb chop was sitting in a sauce that I didn't enjoy at all, again, not sure what it was. I actually ended up whipping the sauce off the lamb chop so that I could actually eat it. Finally, dessert was phenomenal, Dulce Final, the ice cream on the dish was actually perfection and I can't stop thinking about it! The chocolate mousse was also one of the better that I've ever had. Baltimore is pretty limited in its options of fine dining tasting menus, but this is a great option that any foodie in the area should try!

Yelp
I've been wanting to try Puerto 511 for years, but I dine alone fairly often and it didn't seem like a great option for that so I waited until I had an interested friend to join me. I stand corrected, having now been and taken in the atmosphere and service-also, there was a solo diner ahead of me and she did just fine. The service was excellent and the server, the same woman who I had spoken to on the phone, was so lovely and gracious. She took just as much care to communicate with us in person as she did on the phone enduring my broken Spanglish! I like that they were attentive to dietary restrictions and allergies, and my only wish is that since they serve only the prix fixe menu now, that they update their online menu accordingly more regularly, so that folks know if they're able to eat what is being served and don't have to ask for substitutions which aren't welcome (understandably, given the model). We looked forward to the lomo saltado, for instance, but that wasn't on the actual menu being served, just on their website. Having said that, we had such a lovely experience. As other reviewers stated, be prepared to be there for over two hours, likely at least two and a half. We loved the pace, enjoyed each dish very much and when my friend realized she should have mentioned her pregnancy (or inability to consume undercooked foods) at the outset, our server was so friendly and willing to figure out how to accommodate us, and indeed did so with no complaints. The portions were appropriate and I found them to be perfectly sized for the number of courses. I really can't say enough how lovely I found her manner, particularly given how busy she was. There were about 4-5 other parties dining at the same time as us in the small upstairs dining area, all having arrived at slightly different times, therefore on different schedules as far as the courses went. I will definitely return, maybe even by myself, and am so glad to have finally tried this spot. I wish I'd taken more photos of my food, as everything was plated beautifully and tasted great. The tuna was my favorite, and coming from someone who is not typically a fan, that's a high compliment.

Yelp
Spectacular experience. Every dishes was wonderful. We will definitely come back again.

Yelp
We went on a Saturday night and had the pre fix meal. It was absolutely fabulous. The chef and owner came out to welcome us and explain the meal which was a very nice touch. The restaurant is byob so we brought some pisco and they made us delicious pisco sours for $3.50 each. We also brought wine and they opened it for a small charge. The pre fixe was 6 courses, each absolutely delicious. For $69 per person it's really quite reasonable for what you get. It's hard to pick favorites but I think the ahi tuna and lamb chop were probably the best. We all loved this experience and will be back for sure!

Yelp
I have been to Puerto 511 twice. Both times I had an upscaled meal that shows the owners/chef care about the food they put out. The main restaurant area is small but they also have a downstairs area which is spacious and has a fire place. We went on a Thursday and did the 5 course tasting menu. It was nice, we messaged them and said we were pescatarian and they altered the menu for us no issue. We thought we might leave hungry. Nope. The menu was perfect and left us so happy to return in the future. The place was BYOB and they took care of holding our wine and bringing it to the table. I would recommend anyone to try this place. One of the best meals in Baltimore.
google avatar

Yelp
Make the reservation online. Show up on the dot because it's one of those places that will stay locked until it's your time to dine. This is a byob place so bring a nice wine you enjoy OR (and) get your Pisco from Urban Cellar Spirits around the corner. The Pisco sours are fluffy and refreshing. They will chill a wine for you if you need it. Every course was delicious, perfectly portioned, and paired with the alcohol you bring. The ceviche and tamale were my favorite courses. I do not usually like tamales, but I do now. It's a small and intimate place with nice art on the walls. The service was friendly and polite. This was a great experience and reasonably priced. I want to come again to try their seasonal menu.
google avatar

Taylor D.

Yelp
Tried the chefs tasting menu, my favorites were the lamb chops and the potato with octopus. The food and the presentation was phenomenal. The menu was well thought out and they let us bring pisco and they made us pisco sours, SO good.
google avatar

Desiree R.

Yelp
I can't express how lucky I feel to have found this restaurant. They have a set menu so it gives you the opportunity to try multiple different dishes. Everything is plated so beautifully. You can tell that the flavors and the platting are super intentional. It's BYOB , which I failed to realize until I got there. The kitchen was kind enough to make us a pisco sour. But the restaurant does recommend that you bring your own Peruvian Pisco so that they can prepare you a delicious Pisco sour. The staff is super attentive in the restaurant as simple but beautiful. It's definitely an intimate setting in smaller in size.
google avatar

Jess L.

Yelp
I would give 6 stars if I could. Puerto 511 is Baltimore dining at its best - make your reservation now! Almost a speakeasy, it's down a small side street with a tiny sign on the door. It's small inside but has larger tables in the basement. It's small tapas style dishes - the menu changes but we loved everything we had. Each dish is carefully and artfully crafted. Beautiful and delicious, this was an incredible experience. Pro tip: bring your own bottle of Pisco, they Pisco sours are phenomenal! Never had anything like that in Baltimore. Puerto would be a great spot to celebrate any occasion. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
I love Puerto 511. My husband and I would come here often when we lived in Baltimore. I visited again when I was recently in the area. It was just as good as I remember. The food is delicious and the service was excellent. Be prepared for the meal to take a few hours.

Yelp
Excellent meal at this limited seating Peruvian based restaurant. They switched to a fixed meal this summer and it is well worth the cost. It's 5 courses plus it's a BYOB (3.50 pp charge) so you bring the wine you want or if you bring pisco they will make you a pisco sour. I am allergic to octopus so knowing there was a fixed menu that usually had a ceviche (the standout for which they used to have several choices on their old ala carte menu) I called and left a message and not only was there no octopus in mine, nothing that evening had that on any plate. Very accommodating. The small plates were all extremely delicious from the savory meat or fish to the flavorful sauces to the unique use of veggies (the deconstructed tamale was amazing). Reservations are a must! Enjoy

Yelp
Cyndy's Bottom Line: Peruvian cuisine, yes please! *Reservations on Yelp *A rotating seasonal tasting menu *BYOB *Street parking or recommend car service *Parking lot nearby *Allow approximately 2.5 hrs dining time This is what we ate from the Fall 2023 menu: *Starter -Crispy plaintain chips with dip. -Light, crispy, not oily just scrumptious with a yummy dip. *1. Anticucho Grilled Skewers of Veal marinated in aji panka, garlic, cumin, oregano, grill potato, Peruvian corn, rocoto sauce. -Perfectly cooked to a medium rare. Very tender and well seasoned. Accompanied rocoto sauce adds a slow peppery heat and enhances the flavor profile to the grilled veal. *2. Tamal de Quinoa Quinoa tamal, ahi tuna, passion fruit glazed, pineapple chalaquita and microgreens. -Delightfully delicious! Love the creative use of quinoa for tamal which makes for a good velvety texture. The ahi tuna is seared to perfection with the citrusy notes of the chalaquita. The chalaquita is bursting with flavor of freshly minced onions, spices and bright citrus. Delish! *3. Pulpo en su Causa Grill octopus Peruvian potato, yellow pepper, botija sauce, avocado and Chimichurri. -A perfectly grilled octopus very tender and succulent on top of a creamy mashed Peruvian potato. Loved the flavor botija olive sauce. Do not leave it behind. *4. Ceviche Amazonico Fresh fish, coconut Tiger milk, caramelized sweet potato. Chocio, cancha, cilantro. -A generous amount of freshly cut pieces of white fish marinated in the robust citrus flavor of the coconut tiger milk. The corn and sweet potato add sweetness and texture. Delish! *5. Cordero and beet salad New Zealand lamp Chop, rustic potato, Qapchi serrano 'from my mother fresh cheese, mix green beet salad and balsamic reduction. -A perfectly cooked lamb chop. Delicious and fresh beet salad. *6. Dulce Final Peruvian Flan Anise tulips and strawberries. -A sweet end to a wonderful meal. The Peruvian flan has a great texture and composed well with the strawberries and chocolate. -Highly recommend. The high caliber and execution of each Peruvian dish and the top quality of fresh ingredients is of a Michelin level restaurant. Thank you Chef Victorio for an excellent introduction to Peruvian cuisine. -Friendly attentive service.

Yelp
Incredible finding. The service and food are TOP NOTCH. I came for a birthday dinner and couldn't have asked for a better place. The chef does everything: from greating to cook to serve. Then he was able to attend requests, which I was surprised for a set menu. There aren't stars enough that justifies how good this restaurant is. And the price is more than fair. Everyone working at this restaurant foes above and beyond and they deliver great customer service and amazing food. Thank you guys for a spectacular evening.

Yelp
I have no words for this place. It will change the way you think about food forever. My husband and I did the 6 course meal as a graduation celebration. The place is small but very elegant. The chef himself comes out and greets you as well as checks on you throughout each course as well. We started off with chicha morada, it's a very strong Peruvian drink. It's definitely an acquired taste, but it grows on you over time. They give you a big pitcher, and for 2 people it was enough for the entire dinner. The first course was grilled veal skewers. High quality food for being a meat based dish. They very you a small portion of Peruvian corn and potato, both were very savory and tied well with the skewers. But this was not the best of the 6 courses. The second course was shrimp tamale. Both my husband and I have never had any type of tamale before, so we went into this blindly. The sweet chili sauce that came with the tamale was perfect. It had the perfect balance of sweet and spicy, but out of all 6 courses, this dish was our least favorite. It was still really good, but other dishes were much better. The third course was grilled octopus. I never in my life had octopus like the one this chef served. Unlike typical octopus which becomes chewy when you cook it, this dissolved in your mouth. It was served with a Peruvian potato, pepper, and avocado. You couldn't tell the differences between the texture of octopus and the avocado, it was that smooth and soft. Out of the 6 courses, this was our favorite dish. We have never had something so flavorful and smooth before in the form of seafood. The fourth course was fresh fish with coconut tiger milk and grilled pineapple. When you see this dish, you will be confused because of the ingredients. It seems like a weird combination that shouldn't go together. But boy is that thought wrong. When you eat this, it's so refreshing and zesty. It has the perfect amount of acidity and savoriness. Out of the 6 courses, this dish was our second favorite. The fifth course was New York style steak. After the cultural experience you got with this meal, the steak was really good but underwhelming. Out of the 6 courses, this came in last for us. Not because it wasn't good, but there was so many other better dishes that were served. Lastly, my favorite part, the dessert. This was a Peruvian sampler with quinoa and dulce de leche. There was Peruvian ice cream with berries as well. My one complaint would be that none of these dishes were big enough, I always wanted more after each dish, especially dessert. We couldn't even add the dessert with the ranking of the other courses. Overall, really great experience! It has a chill yet elegant vibe. Make sure you make a reservation, or you won't be able to get a table, they get busy fast!!

Yelp
It was an amazing experience, the chef was really nice and also the service was awesome. The whole menu was very well designed and you can taste a little bit of my Peru, the portions are small but it's because there are 6 courses. My favorite from this season was the lamb pachamanca that even though I haven't try that before it worked perfectly. I totally recommend this restaurant.

Yelp
Puerto 511 is a small, but mighty restaurant bursting with Peruvian flavor. We came on a Saturday night for my SO's birthday and got their delicious tasting menu (the only offering they have on Saturdays). I was a little nervous about how the vegetarian tasting would turn outgiven my preconception of meat/fish-heavy Peruvian food, but they really knocked it out of the park for his vegetarian tasting and my non-vegetarian tasting! As others have noted, the pisco sour service they have is really fun - if you bring your own pisco and they will transform it into a delicious cocktail. Beyond this, they are BYOB for wine, beer, etc. as well! The pacing of the meal itself was quite leisurely (and sometimes a little slow), but overall we had a great time. One small note is that the parking lot they recommend that you park in can sometimes get full and it is $15 for the evening and not $6 as listed on their website.

Yelp
A small, delicate, modern-vibe Peruvian restaurant hidden in a residential neighborhood. Reservation only, no walk-ins. The restaurant operates on a chef's menu system with 5-6 dishes depending on season. BYOB with minor service charge, 20% gratuity for parties of 6 or more. While the website suggests the tasting experience lasts about 1.5-2 hours, our dinner lasted a full 2.5 hours (7:50pm entry, 10:20pm exit). There could be significant gap time between dishes, up to 20-30 minutes. At one time the chef chatted with the table next to ours for about 10-15 minutes, not sure if that contributed to excessive time. Anyway, make sure you have plenty of time to spend. Review of food and beverage items Complimentary fried plantain: freshly fried, hot and crispy, a bit on the salty side. Chicha morada juice (purple coin, pineapple, cinnamon, sugar, lime): very refreshing drink, complex and fruity flavor, a hint of cinnamon residual taste, suitable for summer night. Antichucho (grilled veal): heavily marinated, salty and gamey, a bit too salty on its own, but went very well with the rich sauce. Grilled potato was very nice. Causa escabechada (grilled shrimp): Seasoning was much more pleasant than the previous dish. Shrimps tasted fresh, bouncy, briny but not too salty. Love the multifaceted texture created by combination of avocado, crispy sweet potato, and mashed Peruvian potato. Tamal de Quinoa (tamal with ahi tuna): good idea to have some ceviche-ish thick sauce before the Ceviche dish. Fine grinded quinoa, not coarse at all, passion fruit glaze and pineapple chalaquita adding a refreshing fruity aroma to the bland quinoa. Ahi tuna a bit overdone for my taste. Ceviche de Rocoto (Ceviche dish): star of the night. Zesty rocoto "Tiger's milk" sauce, lemony and mildly spicy, sweet potato offsetting the sourness of the sauce, fish tasted fresh. Love what they had done to the grilled octopus: many other ceviche restaurants just dice or even chop into big chunks, but they carefully sliced them into thin layers, very bouncy and easy to enjoy. Cordero and beet salad (lamb chop and beat salad): salad tasted nice, fresh veggies, pleasant balsamic flavor, beets had delicate sweet taste, not grassy at all. The lamb chop was grilled nicely, tender and juicy, but needs a bit more seasoning. Dulce Final (ice cream and chocolate mousse): Guanabana ice cream tasted nice, had very subtle floral and honey taste. Chocolate mousse was nicely made, light, fluffy, packed with dark chocolate flavor. A nice end note to the dinner. Overall: 4-4.5 stars. For the sake of Yelp score display, I opted to display 4 stars to emphasize the fact that we spent much longer than expected in the place, and seasoning of dishes need more consistency. Still, most dishes are delicately designed, plating and flavor are solid, and we would love to see the place brought up a level with some improvements.

Yelp
The best restaurant we went to in Baltimore 10000%. Absolutely delicious from start to finish. The price is shocking for the quality and portion you get. Left perfect satisfied! The ceviche is the BEST one I've ever had and the grilled shrimp with mashed potato was heaven. I will think about that dish for the rest of my life! Sadly didn't get pictures of it all but highly recommend. You wouldn't think so from the outside but I agree with another comment - this place deserves a Michelin star!

Yelp
Wow. This place has the feel of a hole in the wall mom-and-pop shop with the aesthetics of a bougie, classy, modern fine dining establishment. A Peruvian friend suggested this as THE go to restaurant for upscale Peruvian and I was not disappointed. The restaurant only has a couple tables upstairs but there's a lower level with more seating. Presentation and service were phenomenal. The chef came out to greet us and see if everything was okay. The prix fixe menu was amazing! If it were socially appropriate, I would've licked my plates clean. The pisco sours were only a couple bucks and were perfect. My favorites were the veal and steak but the several people at the table were declaring the octopus dish the best they ever had. I'm also a fan of the maiz scattered throughout the dishes.

Yelp
Date night to celebrate my husband's birthday and so glad we chose this restaurant! It was a prix fixe 6 courses menu for $69 and it was an amazing dining experience ! Starting with the Anticucho, perfectly seasoned & grilled, tender with just a hint of chewiness. Almost took us back to our travels in Peru. Next course was the Ahi Tuna, fresh tasting , prepared exactly medium rare and the chutney with it complemented it very well. So delish ! Third course was the grilled Octopus. This was my favorite ! It had nice charred edges, tender & with a juicy middle, soooo good! The chimichurri made it even better! The creamy Peruvian mashed potato gave the dish a hearty finish. The next dish was ceviche, my husband's fave. The shrimps and fish were delightfully refreshing, light & the aromatics in the Tiger milk wonderfully balanced the dish. It was superb ! There were also those yummy roasted Peruvian corn - I wanted more of those Our last entree was grilled steak. It was our least favorite, mainly because this one paled among all the other dishes. It also had a hint of sweetness to it which we didn't like. The dessert was the a delectable piece of chocolate hazelnut cake topped with passion fruit ice cream. It was scrumptious !! The kiwicha pops gave it an added dimension which was like a party for my taste buds! Despite the loud 6 top next to us, we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. They don't have a liquor license so we brought wine with us , they charge a fee of $3.50 per person and if you bring your own Pisco, they will make you Pisco sour. Authentic Peruvian Cuisine with meticulous preparation and presentation. This was dining at it's best !

Yelp
Still amazing. Every time, Chef Jose Victorio prepares perfect food that nourishes the soul with every bite. The pisco service is awesome by the way. Stop by the spirits store around the corner and grab a bottle of pisco before your dinner reservation. Pairs perfectly with the menu.

Yelp
I bought Jalea tonight and the amount of food was not enough for the cost of the dish $23 plus. There should be a regulation that not allowed this Restaurants to give less food than the one to advertise. which is call "false advertising".

Yelp
Amazing!!! I came here with my boyfriend for their Tuesday set menu and we were both so amazed but the food. Everything had so much flavor and the portion sizing was perfect. Plating was beautiful! Perfect atmosphere for a dinner date night or for friends! Will definitely be coming again!!

Yelp
I don't understand how this 5-course Peruvian tasting menu is only $45 on weekdays. I think it's so cool that Chef Victorio was not only the first to greet us, he was behind the kitchen and even serving/introducing each course. This guy's the man, he did it all. Also, if you bring in your own bottle of Pisco, staff will use that to serve you their house Pisco sours for $2.50 a glass Each drink was topped with a perfectly frothy eggwhite foam, each sip was herbal/sweet/tart. These are dangerous. The plantain chips were a crunchy lil appetizer. The creamy, garlic-y dipping sauce stood out, was so good that I was dipping the veal from the first course into it. 1: Anticucho Though a little salty and not as tender as I expected, the veal was well seasoned and full of garlic and cumin flavor. Peruvian corn was interesting, it was featured in most of the courses. Each kernel was fat, about 3x the size of an average American kernel. They had a chewy, waxy consistency. Been thinkin bout it and I think Peruvian corn is the first food I've tasted that reminds me of water. 2: Causa Escabechada This was my favorite course, no doubt. The shrimp was tender, sauce was savory and acidic, smashed potato underneath it all that was kinda tamale shaped was a soft, almost creamy base. Avocado, onion, and the yogurt-y pink and garlic-y yellow sauces assisted with big flavor in this little dish. 3. Ceviche Ahumado This ceviche was a close second for me. I was hoping Rocoto tiger milk was milk from an actual tiger, but it's a citrus based marinade for the fish and shrimp. Wasn't disappointed. Onion-y, limey, and surprisingly crunchy from the corn nuts. Delicious and refreshing. 4. Lomito Saltado del Puerto Like the veal from course 1, this was a little salty for me, but at the same time this was my friend's favorite dish so it's definitely subjective. The beef, mushrooms, tomatoes, potatoes, and onions soaked up the soy sauce well. Really tasty. 5. Chocolucuma I licked the plate. The chocolate cake was dark n rich, the berry jam tasted homemade, and I've never had Lucuma flavored anything until this ice cream. Lucuma's a fruit native to the Andean valleys of South America, it was custardy and slightly tangy. A perfect dessert. Don't sleep on the beautifully purple Peruvian drink Chicha Morada, tasted like pineapple and cinnamon. This spot feels like one of Baltimore's hidden gems. An incredible experience at ridiculous value and a great introduction to Peruvian food. Shoutout Chef Victorio.

Yelp
Everything we ate was spectacular. We all loved each dish. If I lived in Baltimore, I'd go frequently. The Prix Fixe meal was a great price. You bring your own bottle if you want alcohol. The non-alcoholic pisco sours were lovely to drink. Don't be put off by the locked door. Just ring the doorbell, and they will let you in right away.

Yelp
Amazing food. Hidden gem. So glad my wife found this place. One of the best meals I've ever had.

Yelp
This was the only restaurant we ate at in Baltimore, and it blew us away. What an incredible prix fixe meal, for only $69 per person! There wasn't a single dish we didn't love, and we left with our stomachs almost bursting. Plus, it's BYOB. Highly recommend getting a bottle of wine from Urban Cellars a couple blocks away. The corkage fee is $2.50 per person. They also have pisco sour service ($2/drink) if you bring your own bottle of pisco, which we'll probably try next time. Now, for the food... Zeroth course: plantain chips-- delicious! Actual first course: grilled veal skewers-- incredibly cooked and well-marinated. Well balanced by the corn and potato. Peruvian corn is the best! Second course: crab with potato-- the flavors in this one were hearty but fresh. Crab tasted incredible, and I loved the different sauces on the plate. Third course: ahi tuna tamal-- this was a deconstructed tamale and our favorite course of the night. All the diverse tastes and textures melded together perfectly. Fourth course: ceviche-- this was delicious (amazing seafood) but probably our least favorite out of the bunch due to the lack of different flavor profiles. Cutting the acidity with the sweet potato was a fantastic idea though. Fifth course: lamb chops-- yum! Meat cooked perfectly, and the sauces paired well. Hearty and definitely hit the spot. Sixth course: Peruvian ice cream with brownie and quinoa flan-- super interesting textures in the flan! And ice cream is always a great addition to any dessert. Thank you Puerto 511! We will be back again someday. Looking forward to a new creative menu the next time we visit. :)

Yelp
Amazing meal! The grilled shrimp, the octopus, the steak, the ceviche, the veal, everything was so good! The restaurant was small and very intimate and our server was great. This place is totally a hidden gem, and the perfect spot for a romantic date night!

Yelp
Very delicious, cozy environment, and get set coursed menu to work through. For those who drink alcohol, it's BYOB

Yelp
This was one of the best dinners I've had in a while!! My expectations were exceeded. Tips: definitely make a reservation a few days in advance, the place is tiny but I really enjoyed the atmosphere. Also it's BYOB, and if you bring a bottle of Pisco they'll mix you Pisco sours in the back for a small fee. I know the menu changes frequently, ours was amazing, so flavorful, the meats were cooked perfectly and the service was great, they allowed ample time between courses to digest a bit (not a place to go to if you're in a rush). Just come here!!

Yelp
This place was on my radar for so long. Unfortunately I put it off for way too long. This is one of the best places I've ever eaten. Period. The octopus dish was the closest I've ever been to having a religious experience. My partner had his with the ceviche. My friend had hers with the shrimp. It's an experience if one dish makes you want to cry because it's so good, but Puerto 511 did it for each of us in different courses. This meal was beautifully coursed. Wonderfully spaced and thoughtfully planned. Each dish was enough to fully experience the tastes but weren't unnecessarily extravagant. It was intimate. It was delicious. It was kind. It was humble. It was everything you could ask for.
