Brentwood is beyond high maintenance. And don’t be fooled by the 4 star or less reviews. If you read those reviews, they are docking this place for trivial things. The truth is, Puffy Muffin nails every aspect of a first class bakery and brunch style menu. But alas, the Brentwood egotists are gonna hate. Excellent chicken salad! Fantastic hash brown casserole! And the bakery items are top notch. So delectable. I’ve never had anything bad or disappointing here. And if it’s not up to your expectation, they always want to make it right.

5/25 Update: This is our new brunch spot on the way home from Nashville. Not out of the way and consistently delicious! I went here years ago and remembered it being good so I was excited to try this place again. The service was quick and friendly. The atmosphere is nice. I got the Reuben and it was definitely one of the best Reubens I've ever had. Everything was delicious! My partner got Steak and Biscuits and the steak was cooked perfectly! Can't wait for this to be our leaving Nashville spot. Definitely going to come back!

Good spot for lunch and breakfast. The sampler is a good place to start for a first time patron. The quiche was light and fluffy! Would order again. The biscuit and gravy were okay but both were cold so would skip the combo plate and just go for the quiche. Poppy seed bread was very good. The display of desserts looked excellent.

Had a great time for my birthday brunch! Had a delicious sandwich, soup and coffee. Tasted my wife’s quiche. All the baked good looked delicious and will be returning for tastes. Great atmosphere for formal brunches, small informal couple midweek jump in meals, grandparents taking their grandkids, or whatever you need. A great spot! Only problem is I didn’t go sooner.

Google
Located in a strip center in Brentwood, they serve breakfast and lunch. Family owned and open till 230pm midweek. Check their website for weekend hours. We seated ourselves and the server was friendly. My wife had the gluten free sausage breakfast sandwich and I had the biscuit and bacon breakfast sandwich. Both were a good portion and made fresh. Expect to pay higher than normal prices due to their Brentwood location. Menu choices are limited but they do offer plenty of To Go Meals and the food is very good.

Puffy Muffin is the best! I love their cinnamon rolls and always get one to go. Everything on their menu is fantastic and the customer service is top notch. Be sure and pick up a Puffy Muffin mug while you’re there

I saw this restaurant on an episode of Tennessee Crossroads on Npt/PBS. I had to come in and check it out, which was delicious. Bring your friends!

Google
Great atmosphere, service, and food. Our server, Derrick, was phenomenal. I really appreciate how willing they are to work with dietary allergens. My husband had the farmhouse breakfast which was very satisfying and filling. I had the breakfast egg sandwich on gluten free bread, no cheese. We had a side of home fries. Their desserts look incredible . I tried the GF peanut butter chocolate chip cookie such was okay for GF. But I have had better GF cookies. I wanted to try the GF blueberry muffin but wanted to limit the sugar intake :) luckily we came around 1:15pm on a Sunday and there wasn’t any wait!

Yelp
Puffy Muffin is a great spot for delicious breakfast. They have a large selection of food and desserts available to take home too. Located in a big shopping center, parking is easy and plentiful. I was blown away by how many options they had in their case to grab and take home. They carry a large selection of cookies, cakes, sandwiches, breads, soups, pies, quiches, and more! This is a great stop if you're looking for food or dessert to grab for later. On a Sunday morning we had an expected wait for a table. The waiting area is large and comfortable. We didn't wait longer than the quoted time. Our server was friendly and attentive. For a very busy morning everything flowed well. My breakfast was tasty. I ordered Steak & Eggs. The hash brown casserole was my favorite part. The steak was a little different than I expected, but seasoned nicely. I grabbed a lunch to enjoy the next day and really enjoyed it. It had a yummy amaretto chicken salad, lemon poppyseed bread, cranberry salad, and a pimento cheese slider. Overall, I enjoyed Puffy Muffin. I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Imagine your favorite best bakery and your favorite best breakfast/brunch/lunch diner had a baby.....hence the puffy muffin. We ordered take out and picked it up in house. The bakery counter is impressive with cookies, cakes, quiches, pies etc. Got some cc cookies which were very tasty. I had the reuben which was incredible. Others had soup and salad combos. It was a very busy local Friday so they were offering there brunch menu which looked impressive. There is a grab and go counter with a wide variety of menu choices for fast access. A large, no reservation, dine in area is available. Very highly recomended Slainte!!

Yelp
Excellent Bakery and overall restaurant. We enjoyed lunch here, ordered burger w/bacon, onion ring, and bq and the other plate ordered was salmon w/asparagus. Suggest ordering the sauce for the salmon on the side as not to be smothered in it. Both were excellent. We ordered two chocolate cookies for desert and only complaint was it was cold and hard. Would have been better heated up as dessert in the restaurant. Overall experience was very good and will visit again.

Yelp
So since we've been chauffeurs for my son taking him to Lifeguard training in nashville the past two weekends we decided to grab some breakfast this weekend first before taking him for his certification tests. Breakfast should be easy but y'all never know what you're going to get...here's what we found: Ambiance; Traditional bakery style set up with a large number of tables on the opposing side which makes for an easy access and egress. We were greeted right away and since it was only 8:30 on a Saturday morning the wait was about 90 seconds. Service: Service was great / prompt and friendly and she came back regularly to top us off with water and coffee. Food: The food was quite good - it was Faturday so my son was all in for the pancake plate and a cinnamon roll with a side of eggs...he's a teenager so he can put it away! My wife ordered a bacon egg and cheese sandwich and enjoyed it as I enjoyed the two egg breakfast with extra scrambled eggs, rye toast, and bacon. Bacon was a bit on the too crispy side and the toast was very small However the taste was fresh and good. Price: Price is very high - honestly for a breakfast plate of a few pancakes -$18 is crazy as well as the two egg breakfast plate for $18...this is brentwood but come on...really? Bakery: we got a few mocha and lemon cookies (which are great) and I imagine most of what they bake there is very tasty and fresh as it all looked amazing! Summary: It's a great place - but be prepaid to pay for it more than market really bears for other similar places. If your in a pinch and on brentwood I'd say you'd be hard pressed to find something better quality wise but price wise I know you can get more for less other areas. Either way you won't be disappointed so KEEP MUNCHING!!!

Yelp
Waitress served me a burned bagel. Just didn't notice it was burned. Coffee is also not great.

Yelp
I bought my nieces graduation cake from here. Service upon entering was great. The employee brought out my cake, had me inspect it and make sure I was thoroughly satisfied before leaving. The cake itself was Devine. Rich and chocolatey, which paired perfectly with some vanilla ice cream.

Yelp
This place is definitely known for their muffins so we had to order some. We ended up ordering a lot of different ones: banana nut, blueberry, carrot, and we also got chocolate chocolate. Blueberry is my favorite. My entree for brunch was the poppy seed chicken which initially sounded really strange to me. But since they're known for it and I've never had it, I gave it a try. It's so good! I'm glad I got it because it's unique. Service was great. Super nice staff.

Yelp
I have not been here in a few years, but my memories of the bakery were happy ones. Not any more! I bought a caramel apple loaf. Yuck, the topping which i expected to be a creamy icing/topping was a gritty sugar/ butter mess I literally had to take the bread home and cut that mess off, only to find a somewhat tasteless bread, very disappointed. $14. dollars not a cheap price. Sorry not what I expected or remember about the bakery.
google avatar

Haley C.

Yelp
The bakery is great, puffy muffin kills baked goods! Don't sit down to eat though, it's over priced and ranging from average to bad for the sit down menu.
google avatar

Dan S.

Yelp
Baffling that this place doesn't have all 5 stars. Showed up at opening on Sunday and there was a line. They got people into a waiting area out of the sun as fast as possible. We were seated quickly, service was amazing and the food felt like a home cooked meal. We both got some extras with our breakfast sandwiches and the bill was less than $40.

Yelp
Came here for breakfast with a work friend and what a disappointment. Service off the bat was rude. Our waitress not friendly and disappeared for a long time. Had to flag another waitress down just to get refills on our coffees. She rolled her eyes too so guess all the staff are just miserable. Also how is a veggie omelette $20? And it sucked! Over cooked when I asked for it soft. Veggies were not fresh and just awful. Toast not even toasted. My friend got bacon, egg and cheese croissant and it was terrible. How can you mess something so simple up? Maybe if your coming here for all the high sugar treats it's better, but a typical style breakfast, just awful. Also find new waitress who actually want to work and aren't rude, unfriendly and miserable. Never coming back here! There are much better breakfast spots in the area!

Yelp
My family and I love Puffy Muffin! We no experience with their food but the desserts are AMAZING. Their poppy seed muffin, strawberry cake with cream cheese icing with REAL strawberries & chocolate cake is heavenly. Every time I go I'm greeted with warm smile. It's always crazy, busy but it's just a testament to how good they are. Go try it!!!

Yelp
We had a delicious breakfast! Our server was very kind and attentive. The food is scrumptious, and their bakery is AMAZING! I highly recommend the french toast, biscuits & gravy, and the home fries! They even gave me a free cupcake since it was my birthday.

Jenn W.

Yelp
Sunday brunch was delicious! The service was quick. Quiche of the day was very good. Sandwiches were very filling & the fries were crispy. I would come back!

Yelp
Loved Puffy Muffin and worth a visit. You can dine in or carry out. They have lots of bakery treats. The dine in menu with lots of tasty options for breakfast and lunch. I had the tea sampler with pimento cheese, tuna and chicken salad served with Brussels sprouts, cranberry salad and poppy seed bread. It was plated beautifully and delicious. The chicken salad had the grapes which I liked best. I tasted the quiche and chicken tortilla soup. The quiche was fresh and served hot and the soup was good. The dining area is spacious and bright. The service was excellent. Despite it being a crowd, we did not wait long at all. The food was served quickly. The kitchen closed at 2:30pm. I recommend Puffy Muffin and will visit again.

David M.

Yelp
Wasnt that impressed. Over priced location but food was average at best. Service was decent but not paying restaurants for service alone

Yelp
Came in for a solo lunch and to order my mom's birthday cake. The service was wonderful. The food was delicious. I ordered the turkey Ruben on wheat with potatoes, and it was so good. You have to try the fruit tea. It's so good that I take a gallon home with me. The birthday cake was a hit as well. I loved the strawberry cake. The restaurant does get a little busy, so plan on a little wait if you come during lunchtime.

Lauren J.

Yelp
Great service, delicious cake (chocolate with chocolate ganache). Will always order my cakes here!!

Yelp
Why this place has only 3.5 stars is beyond me. We have been to puffy on several occasion but I did not review it. It's time. Let's break it down. Atmosphere: 4 stars Very nice casual dinning experience. The combination of the bakery and restaurant is well done. Clean and open. Service: 3 stars Ok. I'll admit it. On this occasion service seemed slow. When we ordered my wife's was wrong and when they took it back, it took way to long for it to get back to the table. The waitress was attentive and pleasant but just not at the table enough. Like I said, they are short on staff so that may be a temporary Sunday thing. Food: 5 stars For the type of restaurant this is, their food is fresh and tasty. I had the blt and my wife the chicken salad plate. No complaints. It was outstanding. Value 4 Stars Our meal was $34 which for a fresh, sit down establishment that's not bad these days. If you are looking for a good alternative to the mundane and want to try something different, give it a shot. While you are at it, definitely browse the bakery area. I would bet money you won't walk away empty handed.

Yelp
Oh to be the recipient of whatever they have left at the end of the day, but it's usually nothing. Everything is incredible, including German chocolate cake. I've ordered catered breakfasts and lunches and each person was quite pleased.
google avatar

Kelly S.

Yelp
Puffy Muffin made a beautiful custom cake for me. It came out exactly as ordered, and the pricing was fair. It is always a little busy in here, and the woman helping me seemed a little overwhelmed and frantic, but she was very kind regardless. The bakery is adorable - so many yummy-looking treats.
google avatar

Yelp
Puffy Muffin restaurant was delish!! Food was great . Atmosphere is super cozy. People who work there ate awesome and friendly which is very important to me. I had blackened salmon with quinoa and it was soo good, I highly recommend it. Very efficient when it comes to getting seated as well. I will definitely continue coming to puffy Muffin.

Yelp
Took a trip to NashVegas and found this local bakery. Had no idea it was also a restaurant filled with so many choices. My family and I headed straight to the enormous bakery case that curved around the lovely eatery. My eyes were dancing at all of the wonderful treats and goodies! We picked up oatmeal raisin cookies, beautiful molasses cookies, huge bigger than a child's hand cinnamon rolls, almond horns, poppyseed muffins, and a fruit tart. On the way home from our trip we began to indulge in the delicious heavenly creations. We definitely hit the jackpot. I had part of the molasses cookie and almond horn. So tasty and yummy. I liked that the cookies were not overly sweet and sugary. Will be back to this lovely local bakery and restaurant if I am in the Nashville area anytime soon.

Yelp
Service is good. Our eggs were overcooked and the sausage on my sandwich was undercooked and pink. The muffin was good. I wouldn't go back.

Bradley N.

Yelp
Usually, I enjoy eating at the Puffy Muffin. Today, however, after waiting 30 minutes to be seated when ordering, our server notified me that the French Dip and All burgers were not available..... This is at 12:00 noon on a Wednesday... They could at the Very Least notify customer's when taking their name for the waiting list.

Tim I.

Yelp
The food quality and service is always excellent! They serve some old-school pastries and lunch items you just can't find anymore. Always a great value for the price .
google avatar

Laura G.

Yelp
The Puffy Muffin is a bakery and a restaurant. I only visited the bakery and was impressed by their presentation and professionalism. It took me a minute to decide what I wanted because the display cases were filled with tons of options. They had numerous cakes, cookies, pies and other fresh baked items that looked very tempting. In the end I purchased molasses cookies. It was a great choice....The baker nailed the old fashioned flavor and created perfection.

Yelp
Let me start by saying it was really busy so lots of folks like it. But I prefer an older more laid back - family or diner environment (like beacon light tea room). Or country boy - before it closed. Or loveless. People and Service were nice. A little slow but it was packed so that's ok. Eggs were a bit done. Home fries were just sliced potato fries - I like either hash browns or something with a bite. If you like moist muffins- you will like theirs. Again- just not my style.

Dee D.

Yelp
I have never had their food, but their baked goods are awesome! My family and I often purchase cakes and pies from them for special occasions and holidays.
google avatar

Carrie C.

Yelp
I've been here several times on our way out of town and have always had a good meal. The wait staff has always been super nice too. Today I had the Turkey Reuben and a cup of the daily special soup which was Broccoli Cheddar. The Reuben was perfection. The Broccoli Cheddar was not very good. I ordered it at about 10:45am and honestly don't think it was done cooking. It was a bit watery and zero cheddar flavor or was there any sign of cheese. Still a fairly good flavor. That being said everything else O've ever ordered has been really good. Plenty of grab and go items as well...salads, soups, sandwiches, and even dinners to grab and go. Beautiful pastry's, cookies, cakes and pies. Total bill with tip $23 (included a glass of tea).

Yelp
Very lovely family run bakery, restaurant, and tea room. We got a cake from the case for my son's first birthday and they were able to have someone hand write a birthday message for him on it. They did a great job, it just got a little smudged on the way home, so a taller box would be my only suggestion. The cake was still amazing. Every pastry or cake or muffin we have tried has been delicious. We also went for brunch last week and the food was delicious and the service was excellent. It is also extremely family friendly, I have enjoyed bringing my children here.
google avatar

Kevin L.

Yelp
One of my favorite places! I passed by this store countless times to shop the pet supply store next door. I thought this to be some dainty pastry place until we walked in one day. Mmmm!!! The smell of all those delicious sweet treats and some savory goods as well... I now shop here way more than I should! Their salads are delicious and they are top quality. I cannot adequately describe the treat you're in for by eating here. The staff is also amazingly helpful and nice.

Yelp
From the outside there isn't much going on. A plain entrance claiming the name 'Puffy Muffin' in what might as well be Times New Roman font. However, upon walking in the building the inside gives a much different ambience. I was floored by the liveliness of the dining area and aroma spilling from the bakery. Immediately, I was reminded of 'Cafe du Monde'. We were seated after a short wait and the service was similar to that of a NASCAR pit crew. Our waitress (stickers on her notepad) was fixing issues before they even arose. At one point I even believe the owner, or possibly another customer dressed in Sunday attire, offered to refill my colleagues Coke. The menu had everything and more, which I felt could have been reduced. During our brunch we ate pancakes, spinach dip, steak, eggs and chicken tenders. A wild combo. The girls loved the ginger tea, a specialty to the restaurant (I would recommend removing the recipe from the wall). By the end of the meal, I was five pounds heavier. As if that wasn't enough, y'all tempted me with those snickerdoodle's as I was walking out the door. Hot guys eat snickerdoodle's. In review, I would recommend improving your outdoor patio area to sit customers. The name also was a throw off to an "out-of-towner" such as myself, however, I understand y'all are a staple for the Brentwood community. I could envision this being in a stand alone building. For the love of everything good, PLEASE reopen the high top seating for customers. Finally, I would love to share with you my mimosa recipe..... 8.1/10

Yelp
The Taco Salad is a great lunch but the cookies and treats are what make the place amazing. They've provided for many baby showers, birthdays, and graduation parties over the years for our family.
google avatar

Kelley B.

Yelp
Puffy muffin has been around for what seems like forever and for some reason I've yet to rate it. I rarely have eaten inside but I have gotten many a tasty cookie from them. They are set up for dining inside but also have quick grab and go items as well as a bakery counter. The cookies are great and I have had tried a custom cake as well which was very good. The food they serve doesn't look like much but is packed with flavor. Most recently I had the daily quiche with the cranberry salad and was very happy with my choice. I'd recommend the food here and the workers are nice. It can get pretty busy though so this is a place you want to go to during the down times if possible.

Ashley B.

Yelp
Very cute place to get a casual brunch. Every one is very friendly. Food was good southern comfort food. I will be back to try the bakery
google avatar

Kelsey B.

Yelp
Are you interested in awful breakfast service? Look no further than Puffy Muffin! Four of us went here for a late breakfast on a Saturday. We ordered 4 meals (all at the same time) yet only 3 meals were brought out. We asked the runner if our fourth meal was coming out soon and she said she would need to check with our server. After 20 minutes, our server re-emerges and unapologetically says the fourth order was never put in. Another 10 minutes goes by. Finally, the fourth order comes out, but it's missing a biscuit and the breakfast potatoes. Other service downside - The entire time we were there, our water cups were not refilled once. This is a major pet peeve of mine. The only reason I'm giving Puffy Muffin 3 stars instead of 2 is due to their tasty french toast. It was the only redeeming part of the meal.

Yelp
The food was delicious!! I had a chicken salad sandwich and the cookies were chiefs kiss too!! The employees were super sweet and friendly. The atmosphere is delightful and I wish I lived closer so I could frequent more. I would have loved to sit down and try more from the menu. I did a grab and go at the fridge but still delicious and I can't wait to make a trip back to see other options in the future!!
google avatar

Yelp
Gluten free breakfast in Brentwood! This institution has so many gluten free options, from French toast to omelets to quiche. We got the French toast and the omelet with bacon, cheese, onion, and spinach, and we were not disappointed. Be sure to get here early on the weekends, as they fill up quickly for Sunday brunch! Also, make sure to save room for some desserts that you see in the large glass cases.
google avatar

Tiffany C.

Yelp
Puffy Muffin is a must-visit lunch spot if you're in the Brentwood area. As if their massive bakery case full of homemade breads, cookies and pastries wasn't enough - they have a huge lunch and dinner menu full of good ole' Southern delights. When I'm not getting their famous Chicken Salad, I usually order the Taco Salad - complete with their own house-made tortilla shell. Go ahead and save the waiter a trip, order extra of their original Southwest Ranch -trust me, you'll eat it all. Their Fruit Tea is a perfect blend of tea with fruit and ginger and just sweet enough. Make sure to grab a Mocha Crinkle cookie to go on your way out.

Yelp
I have been wanting to try the Puffy Muffin for years! Finally had a chance to stop by while taking my parents to a nearby doctor appointment. This place is super busy - at 11:30 on a Friday it was packed to the brim with ladies of all ages. We had about a 30 minute wait, which was doable. Waitstaff were busy, but attentive. I would give the food four stars, it was not anything special, seemed to be more basic diner type food rather than any special creations, or different sandwich options, but it came out hot and tasted good so overall it was enjoyable. The bakery items looked fabulous, but I didn't try any so other than visual appeal I cannot say they are worth the high prices I noticed. Not sure I would return to the Puffy Muffin for a meal, just because it didn't really stand out as exemplary in options or taste, but I may pop back in to try their baked goods. Best to get her early, or plan to linger for awhile.

Yelp
This is a cute cafe in Brentwood outside Nashville. They have brunch food but mostly pastries. They have cookies, cupcakes, cakes, pies, and of course muffins. When we arrived, it was super busy. There was a line to be seated. I however went to the side to look at the pastry section. They also have a "to go" section with some salads and sandwiches in pastiche so you can be on your way. The staff was very friendly, they took care of each customer completely and made us feel important even though they were busy. I do think they need a little more staff due to the long line for a small cafe. They also have an outdoor area. The cookies were very good and the cupcakes and muffins are also good. The atmosphere is good and everyone seemed nice. It is priced at a normal price.
google avatar

Laura S.

Yelp
I stopped here for brunch after being recommended by a local friend. I chose to order the quiche of the day (spinach), fresh fruit and a biscuit, along with a cup of decaf coffee. I also got the Poppyseed Chicken Casserole entree to-go for my husband. The quality of the food was top notch. The biscuit was perfectly cooked and dense, the quiche was warm and flavorful and the fruit was fresh and crisp. Service was very fast. My husband loved his entree too. I would definitely return!
google avatar

Tom W.

Yelp
Super meh. Just not it. Bacon super salty. Eggs tasted like a greasy pan and they were poached. Over priced for what you get. Maple syrup was bland some how. Service was good.
google avatar

Diane A.

Yelp
The Christmas cookies this year were so bad that we ended up throwing them all away. I have been buying cookies from the puffy muffin for at least a dozen plus years. What a disappointment, this is not even considering the cost! We bought several of the frosted holiday sugar cookies and a dozen gingerbread men and they had zero taste. Not sure what happened this year!
google avatar

Karley F.

Yelp
Ordered a vegan vanilla cake with vegan buttercream for my sisters birthday and it was perfect!! It tasted just as good if not better than a regular cake. I sent Puffy Muffin a photo of what I wanted and it was literally spot on. I was so impressed! Vegan cake was a little pricier than normal cakes but honestly it was so worth it. Thanks!!
google avatar

Alexis M.

Yelp
I'm not impressed and I usually look at yelp reviews before coming anywhere but my coworkers wanted to come here. Ultimately the worst part is the service. It was so slow to get our tickets and even other tables around us had the same issue. I saw a customer visible upset and telling the manager about the service. I ordered a hot spiced tea and it was so sweet that I could not finish it. The flavor was similar to apple pie but definitely syrupy in quality. I ordered a potato soup as an appetizer. The soup has minimal potatoes but was filled with carrots, corn, cilantro and bacon and topped with a lot of cheese. The flavors were muddled due to there being so many competing. I ordered the hot ham with sweet potato fries. The hot ham and turkey were on English muffins and topped with pimento cheese. The amount of pimento cheese was too much and made it difficult to eat. It was salty and lacked any depth of flavor. Some peppers, onions, well anything.

Yelp
I went there this morning to pick up an order.i walked in and walked towards the white gentleman that was behind the counter ad I got vloser to him he walked away and didn't help me at all but there was a lady that was further away thT was by the register that asked me did I need help and I responded yes and she came and helped me with my order meanwhile the gentleman that walked away watched the entire transaction and after I paid the lady that helped me and I moved away from the counter he came back and began twiddling his thumbs

Yelp
I haven't eaten at the puffy muffin in over a year (it's delicious, great soup) so this review is for a cake that my mom was gifted for her birthday. It's a pumpkin spice cake with cream cheese frosting and it has got to be one of the best cakes I've ever had. It's so moist without being too wet like pumpkin desserts can be and the frosting is fantastic. I never would have thought to get a cake from here but RUN don't walk to get your cakes!!
