I hate this place. I've been here before & not really enjoyed myself nor the food, but haven't bothered to write a review, but today was the icing on the cake.
Today, we had 8 kids/young teens with us. We needed to kill time in the area, so opted to come here & let the kids bowl for an hour. The girls at the front desk were nice, but didn't quite give all info when we were questioning for pricing purposes. My kids had on sandals as this was impromptu. So while I only had to pay $15 for my 3 kids to bowl, I wound up being forced to spend another $21 for socks, as they cost $7 per pair and they don't have any "lender" nylon style ones. Okay, my fault for not asking that specific question. I had moved on.
When we had reserved the lanes, we were told, "you'll order all your food and drinks from the bar area". Okay. We did that. But 2 of the kids needed a water refill, aged 12 & 14. I showed them exactly where I had stood to order and told them to just go up there & ask for a water refill, as I was helping some of the younger kids with bowling & the lanes are on a strict time limit. The girls came back saying they were told they can't go to the bar to order anything. I didn't think that sounded right, so I went up there to inquire. I approached the male bartender who had told them this... "Hi, they were told they can't ask for water?" "This is a bar. They can't be here." "Okay, so where do they order water at then?" "Ask your server." "We don't have a server. We were told we had to place all orders at the bar." "They can't be at a bar." "They were only asking for water." "It is illegal for them to order anything from the bar." At this point, he had gotten loud, his tone had become rude, and he promptly turned & walked away. Let me add that when we had ordered our food, they had the children's menus behind the bar, which seems odd if they can't have kids ordering anything, not even a simple free water refill from there.
I googled this question out of curiosity later on & found that there "is no law preventing a restaurant from serving water to a minor, even in a bar area" which is what I had suspected. In fact, about 10 minutes later, when I needed a refill on my water, I went to the bar (to someone other than the rude male bartender - I wish I had gotten his name) and was asked to wait until they had finished fulfilling the orders from the servers. The servers had their own separate line. After waiting for quite a while (just standing there), my party had packed up & were leaving because the time on the lanes had ended & others needed to use it. So I wound up never getting the refill simply because we were never given a server.
To top all of that off, their food is absolutely horrendous here. Like I said, I've been here before & I have never ordered anything that I've actually even somewhat enjoyed. I don't recall what I've tried in the past, but today it was the "legit" nachos & pretzel bites. The nachos were horrible. Who the hell puts cauliflower on nachos, first of all. Even picking that mushy mess off, there was some weird tasting sauce alllll over them. This was not a cheese sauce (or at least it didn't taste like it). And I paid $5 more to add about 3 small chunks of carnitas to it, which was an absolute ripoff. My friends who are not picky at all didn't even like or finish their nachos. They also pile the large chips so high on the smallest of plates that it's impossible to get a single chip with everything on it or without something else falling off your plate. There's also nowhere to set your plate down to eat if the place is busy & you don't have a table (bowling lanes). So you have to sort of balance it in one hand or on your lap if you've found a seat. The pretzel bites were bland & the cheese sauce that they came with had a very odd flavor (not good).
Our overall experience today was it. We spent over $100 for an hour of misery. I'm never coming back here & warn others - especially with kids. When we had arrived, the pace was virtually empty. By the time our hour was up, it was packed.
