Punchbowl Inn

We popped in for food. We had a delicious meal here. My wife had a chicken burger, which was lovely and tender. I had wood pigeon with black pudding. It’s a starter, but I had it as a main. the service was great too; attentive and lovely- thank you for looking after us Hope.

We have booked our big christmas gather with Friends before at the fabulous Punchbowl so we had a good idea of the quality of food and service but it far out shone our expectations with the new chef and wonderful staff who juggled 29 covers plus a full house if other bookings at lunch time. |The starters were divine the mains beautiful.. never had a roast like it !!! the puddings totally scrumptious.|Johnny the manager was totally calm throughout as extra bookings turned up not listed and some folks cancelled last minute !! |Cannot praise the man highly enough …or Gary and the beautiful young women that served and cooked for us !! What a team !! |Next year were going to take the large dining room and have the place totally to ourselves !! Its so wonderful to have a go to for meals that go that extra mile it gets a 10/10 every time !!!👍🙏🙏🙏❤️

Review for the restaurant. I recommend it! We were made feel welcomed. They found us a table, even close to finishing srrving food. Sitting near fire wasca bliss after a cold and windy walk. All 4 of us enjoyed our starters and mains were above average. Plenty of parking. Toilet lights need a fix though -flicking, might cause a problem to someone sensitive.

Great little spot with unbelievable value for money. The food’s simple but really tasty — the chicken schnitzel was my favourite. It’s got a lovely, cosy old cottage feel, good service, and they’re super dog friendly. We liked it so much we went for dinner three nights in a row.

Needed a place to stay overnight to break up my journey to Edinburgh. This was a fabulous find! Punchbowl staff were amazing, very accommodating and helpful, I was running later than expected as had a nightmare with the M6 at Birmingham end. My dinner was amazing, all the food that came out looked so good!! Just everything about this place is great and I definitely want to come back next year and have more time to explore this beautiful area more xx

Went with a group to complete few wainwrights, fell into this little gem for some food on the way home and spontaneously decided to stay the night. They were so accommodating and friendly we couldn’t have asked for better service ! The food was also a good bonus :)

My second visit here for a few nights on the strength of a brief visit a couple of years ago Beautiful village location near the Lowther river and estate with a cracking pub serving excellent food and drinks Room was very nice only had a minor problem with the hot water and heating which was soon sorted 😁 Staff and service were great friendly people who were very helpful Will definitely be going back

The food was outstanding ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. So tasty. Freshly cooked. The staff are very friendly and efficient. We had a thoroughly good evening
