"Punky’s Diner is a Medford institution, a nostalgic ‘50s diner with red vinyl booths and giant letters screaming “EAT PIE” across the wall. Take the wall’s advice: As opposed to a more traditional flaky crust, the pies here have a crust almost like a shortbread, absolutely stuffed with fruit. Instead of sticking to a straight marionberry, Punky’s has been known to try out fun combinations, like marion key lime. If the marion Dutch is available, that is the move. Flavors rotate throughout the week, so check the restaurant’s Instagram to see what’s available any given day." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

Got lucky and got seated right away. Service was quick getting out drinks and order. Food took a while and was definitely worth the wait. My new favorite breakfast restaurant. Food portions and quality were excellent. One was the Skillet with corned beef and a side of ham, the other was a Sacramento omlet with potatoe cakes and a side of bacon. Both dishes were delicious. I think their jam is homemade. I absolutely would recommend this place.

Google
First time at Punky’s and won’t be my last. The omelette was fluffy and delicious. English muffin bread toast and homemade jam were delicious. Great service. Clearly a gem! Will go back for breakfast and to try the pie!

One of my favorite, cute little restaurants. Staff is always super friendly, food is super tasty. Today a chef even came out to check that everything was still just as good. Guess they were trying a new patty for the burger. It was massive and delicious as always. Plus, I love the sidewinder fries.

Sean Smith

Google
A perfect diner. Super impressed with my California Omelet and nice to see grits on the menu. Food is delicious and in big portions. I’m not so much a fan of the decor but it’s well lit and clean and exactly what you’d expect from a diner. Will definitely go back! The English muffin bread was amazing.

Google
If I could give more than 5 stars I would! Wonderful place! Amazing food! Excellent service! Can't wait to go back again! Very happy positive vibes! =) And don't get me started about there pies! They are soo soo good! 😋 FAMILY FRIENDLY!

Google
I know this is long winded, but it all needs to be said. Everything about this place screams "Down home cooking". And it was, from the homemade English muffin, the homemade mixed berry jelly to go on it (they seriously need to jar it up and sell it) to the harder to find than you'd think, a delicious pastrami on rye. The taste. It just was everything I wanted. And the seasoned fries were well done, crispy but not hard and burnt. Most importantly was the service. It's hard to find good friendly service. And it wasn't the "over the top check on you when your mouth is full" service. It was that "take the time to make sure everything is ok, and I'm not far if you need anything" service. "I'll take the time you need to explain and you're not a bother for asking." I will definitely be back.

Google
We had a wait to be seated. The place a 50's style diner with pleasant staff and scratch made food. Hubby had 2 huge buckwheat pancakes and finished them all. I order a 2 egg omelet as 3 eggs is too much. Yummy food. Recommended.

Jeannie Patterson

Google
A little bit of a wait. This place is most always busy. If you have never ordered a pie you really should. Home made pick up your pie in 3 days. The old fashioned atmosphere is great and service is friendly.

Lily B.

Yelp
Custom service is amazing! Tracy was an amazing server, food was good atmosphere was awesome! over all a really good place to eat :)

Scott M.

Yelp
Everything is delicious here at Punkys! The coffee is our draw to restaurants and is awesome. Today we had the corn beef hash and eggs. The best we've EVER had, honestly. Ordered a side of country gravy and it too was the best we've had in the Rogue Valley. OMG! Spooned it in our potatoes. HAPPY DANCE! Also, what Punkys does for our community and focuses on the Vets is incredible!

Kyle P.

Yelp
Good Breakfast and great service. Probably the cleanest silverware I have ever seen at a restaurant! Fluffy omelette, potatoes were also good. Food was great! Highly recommend

Sparkle H.

Yelp
YUM! Always delicious food! Always good service! Always clean and inviting! Can't go wrong @ Punky's. Just remember they're closed on Sundays.

Justin T.

Yelp
Service was great and there was no wait at 12 in the afternoon on a Saturday despite it being busy. Our waitress was really nice and attentive. Everyone in our group really liked their food. The corn beef hash with two eggs sunny side up was so good. Highly recommend their house made English muffin (which is a slice of toast) with their in house made jam. So good!

Denise T.

Yelp
My friend, Suzy, brought me to Punkys and introduced me to Punky. Lovely lady along with a nice group of servers in adorable aprons. I enjoyed the seasonal pumpkin pancake special which included a HUGE serving of fluffy eggs and 3 pieces of bacon that were the just right amount of crispy. Suzy enjoyed her buckwheat gluten free pancakes with a ton of syrup. She also helped me with my eggs and bacon. I can't wait to bring my husband to try their lunch items and pie. My first experience in this quaint diner was wonderful.

Michelle N.

Yelp
I can't believe I didn't know about this place sooner considering I've been taking my dog to the groomer two doors down for 3 years. What a great place! The service was fast & efficient, which was great considering how busy they are. They can accommodate both gluten free & vegetarian diets & the food was delicious! I ordered the veggie omelet with mashed potato cakes & gluten free pancakes. The portions are really large so there are lots of leftovers or just the perfect amount to share. The atmosphere is exactly what you would expect from a nice little diner, fun & welcoming. The families story is printed on the menu. Love this place!

Clint C.

Yelp
This place is good. Great location good food quick and price point is great in this day and age. The hired help is cute in their skirts. Had the chicken fried steak great and a big rule of mine able to cut with a fork. I will be back

Suzanne Z.

Yelp
Service was excellent. Restaurant very clean. I found the food very "blah" and uninspiring. Coffee mediocre. Wow, $18 for an omelette. That's a sign of inflation!

West Coast Eats ..

Yelp
This diner is one of the best in town. Food is amazing, no matter what you get. Service has always been good to us here, and the ambiance is great with their 50's, 60's vibe.

Marcie E.

Yelp
I loved the bright and sunny atmosphere in this cute diner . The food is amazing and made with great quality ingredients. The service is friendly and the coffee always full . Breakfast all day or lunch - and the clam chowder on Fridays is amazing. And all the pies are made in house.

K P.

Yelp
Classic 50's style diner with themed barstools and deep booths. Great pie selection and tasty brunch food. Next to the movie theater in a plaza so it's chill...

Larry D P.

Yelp
Great breakfast, service was friendly and quick! wonderful 50's diner atmosphere. Full of veterans the day we went there, thanks for your service!

Lori A.

Yelp
Cleanest place you will ever eat at. The attention to detail is impeccable. Excellent food, excellent service. Highly recommend everything! These people have perfected the diner experience.

Dorothy L.

Yelp
When you are looking for the diner experience - go to Punkys! Punkys has everything you want in a classic diner with exceptionally better food. Severs we're friendly, fun, and makes you feel like family. This is yet another of Medfords gem!

Machel C.

Yelp
What a terrific place for breakfast!! The Memphis Grits are wonderful but the homemade biscuit and sausage gravy is out-of-this-world! Friendly wait staff and welcoming to our veterans, this place is a keeper.

Zach N.

Yelp
Good stuff. Straight up food that all seems made from scratch served by friendly attentive people. Fair pricing to boot. We will be back.

Karen N.

Yelp
Good food, good service. I was a little disappointed with my pie but I will probably try again

Ann L.

Yelp
Old school Diner feel. Great Breakfast! Prices are very reasonable. Recommend Chicken fried steak!

Tracy D.

Yelp
Immaculately clean! Kind staff. The owner is usually in the restaurant and enjoys talking to her customers. They offer several potato and meat options for breakfast, which is wonderful. Their pancakes are delicious, so I will be back for those. My husband ordered the meat lovers omelette and said it lacked flavor. It seemed like they made the eggs separate from the meat and seasonings so the eggs had no flavor at all.

Olivia F.

Yelp
My mom and I recently completed a very quick trip to Oregon and while we were not necessarily excited about a trip to Medford we were pleasantly surprised to stumble upon this old time diner. The food was very good diner food. My only complaint is that the eggs really tasted like they came out of a carton and were not real eggs. Also there was a family with MAGA hats.... But you get what you get and you can't get upset!

Elsa L.

Yelp
Yummy. The mashed potatoes cakes were good, taste was great. Would have liked them more crunchy. Went twice in 4 days, service was great. Really liked the 50's diner feel.

Shaun T.

Yelp
Love this little diner! My family usually sticks to the pancakes or waffles, but we always enjoy the food and the kind staff!

Luanne G.

Yelp
This was a find!! Tucked in right around the corner from the DMV in Medford! It is the cutest "diner" around! Everyone was beyond friendly and the food is really good! I had the grilled ham and cheese on sourdough - my go to in new places! It was everything a grilled ham and cheese should be - thin sliced ham, tons of cheese, and perfectly grilled sourdough! It didn't take any time for our food to arrive and it was all hot and yummy! Husband had a tuna melt and said it was great - no extra stuff in the tuna - just fish and mayo! He also had the Mac & cheese as his side! It must have come right out of the oven!! We will definitely be back, hopefully soon! If you go, ask for Tracy - she's fun and always on it!!

Yelp
Atmosphere: I was excited to check out Punky's Diner because it is known for its 50s and 60s atmosphere. It doesn't stand out in the way many retro diners are located in an outdoor shopping mall. When you walk in, you walk into a blast from the past with plenty of old-school memorabilia and fun stuff on the walls. You can tell it's a "regulars place" where everyone knows your name. The type of spot I want to be a regular at when I'm older. Food: The Punky's Diner menu has everything a diner typically has. Something I found fun on the Punky's Diner menu was the ingredient list that included "53 years married and counting". Other ingredients include 25 years in the food industry and "a lot of hard work". Some Punky's Diner menu items include omelets, waffles, eggs, steak and eggs (which I've found is not as common as I think it is), Texas BBQ beef sandwich, and several salads and burgers.  Like most diners, breakfast is served all day (or until when they close). They also have gluten free bread if you want or need it,  it's one of the few diners I've seen do that! Plus, Punky's Diner is well known for its pies. I didn't get pie this time around, but if I'm back, I will. I decided to order the hot turkey grinder, which came with ham, turkey, bacon, and cheddar. I also added tater tots because I can't remember the last time I had those. The meal itself was good, and I have no complaints. The bread was toasted well, and everything tasted good. I would order it again. Service: The food was ready when I got there. I ordered over the phone, and the hostess was friendly. When I arrived to pick it up, everything felt safe, and the food was ready to go. I couldn't have asked for better service. Punky's Diner Conclusion/Would I Come Back? I liked Punky's Diner in Medford, Oregon, and found it to be a great stop along the road. I definitely would love to come back and eat it in and try one of their well-known pies sometimes.

Yelp
Food is over-priced and quite mediocre. Had stopped here since We didn't want to cook and wanted breakfast (they're actually one of the few places open before 8:30am on weekends) so we decided to try this place out. The food is so bland. The meat just tastes sweet because of the bbq sauce but it tastes and feels like when you boil meat with only salt and pepper and take a bite...no added seasoning to grill it. On top of the fact that the "pastrami burger" has so little meat that the bread was all I was chewing on. I'm a total foodie, not picky with my food, but for higher prices I do expect higher quality (right? Like, isn't that how it works? You want to charge more...so you make your business have SOMETHING special) Their service was courteous, no complaints on that end!

Angelina L.

Yelp
The food is wonderful. The homemade apple butter on toasted homemade English muffin bread is absolutely delicious. The service is great. Everyone is kind, friendly and appear to love what they are doing. It doesn't matter what kind of day I'm having, the ambiance of Punkys is therapeutic. This cafe is lovingly cared for and clean.

Kandy S.

Yelp
The food is good, the price is really good, they keep it really clean. Friendly staff. Nice to see the owners today. I have tried the bread pudding, i really wanted to like it but sad to say it was not good. Asked if it could be heated, and it was still cold. It needed some kind of sauce. So i tried the apple pie hoping it would be better sad to say i make pies from my grandma pie crust recipe and my pies are better. Hate to state that. Other than that it was really good.

Cat N.

Yelp
Lots of variety to choose from - perfect breakfast the All American - eggs bacon homemade bread county potatoes! Took pie to go because I was stuffed! Great diner comfy atmosphere excellent waitstaff and cook - super reasonably priced!

Patrick D.

Yelp
Waitstaff friendly and polite. Food was delicious and place was extremely clean. Prices were reasonable and well worth the quality. I'll definitely be back to this 50/60's themed restaurant

LeRoy T.

Yelp
The service & food were very good. We had breakfast. The cafe was very clean and atmosphere was bright and cheerful. It is centrally located in the middle of Medford. I liked the support & photos they have and give to our men & women who have served in our armed forces.

Jesse H.

Yelp
In an industry that depends heavily on the pre-made foods of Sysco & US Foods, it is nice to know that you still have places like Punkys. I've been here quite a few times, but have never posted a review. What I appreciate every time I come in, is that everything is made frome scratch. From the corned beef to the biscuits, apple butter, jam, potatoes O'Brian. Top that with the service actually being genuine & not someone tip hunting & you got the perfect place for breakfast or lunch. The only critique I would have, is that I wish my potatoes were a little crispier. Other than that, Fantastic job as always

Jan T.

Yelp
Can't imagine why all the 5-star reviews for this place unless people have eaten so much fast food they've lost their tastebuds. The place was filled with old people who seemed to like the attention of waitresses there and to heck with the quality of food. $17 for the Sacramento omelet with undercooked mushrooms and green pepper, a little onion, a teaspoon of cheese, brown avocado slices on top, and lots of eggs cooked hard and dry. I'm thinking they used liquid eggs because there's no hint of real eggs. Potatoes are a strange, soft mixture, maybe with some cream cheese in them, then fried like potato patties. OK, but not great. Biscuit looked good, but dry with almost like a cornmeal texture. Asked for jam. This was a takeout order and no jam included. A piece of strawberry rhubarb pie at $7 for the smallest piece of pie I've seen, almost all crust, very little filling. And wait for it!! It had no sugar!! Picture rhubarb without sugar. I had wanted banana cream pie, which would seem to be a basic at a place known for their pies, but not available yesterday. Neither was cherry although it was listed on the board. The price of $24 for the omelet and miniature piece of pie was ridiculous. By the way, Punky's would have made $56 on that pie at 8 pieces cut out of an 8-inch pie, at $7 per slice. Talk about price gouging. I'm going back to sushi. It's funny how people think it's expensive, but the quality at Bonsai on Barnett is always perfect, always fresh. And you can get two California rolls for $15, more than enough food. Best of all, they never forget anything in a takeout order. Asian restaurants are always the best for takeout and American restaurants are the worst. Kind of like cars. Our 22-year-old Honda Accord, made in Japan, is still like new. Too bad, Punky's. We wanted to like you.

Daniel R.

Yelp
Just a great place for breakfast! Service has always been great and the food is outstanding. Everything from the ham steak to sausage patties has been delicious, even the eggs seem better than I've tasted before. I always get a biscuit that tastes homemade. Lunch I could take or leave but the pies have always been good.

James V.

Yelp
A favorite of locals. Delicious menu items you will not find at other restaurants. Best coconut cream pie I've ever eaten. Punky and her staff are always friendly and welcoming. She hosts military & law enforcement veterans for breakfast regularly. Love this place. Jim VanSant

Susan P.

Yelp
The lovely couple who owns the restaurant are here working alongside their staff. The restaurant is immaculately clean and the food is amazing. I had a California omelet, the eggs are fluffy and perfect, and the red potatoes were delicious. Service was quick and friendly. Could not have been a better breakfast!

Suezette N.

Yelp
We got here and was asked if we could be helped by this kind woman named Renee... she asked how many, and was glad to seat all 12 of us and the baby. Then we were greeted by Punky while we waited to be seated by Renee. Sasha & Ariana were great servers, always making sure we had steamy coffee and creamers. They gave exceptional customer service!!! I mean ALL of them... I recommend anyone to eat there. Thanks Team Punky!!!

Sandy H.

Yelp
Great food and wonderful service. Prices are cheaper that like Elmers but to me food was better. Have been there 3 times bin maybe 5 weeks. Just love it

Robby S.

Yelp
Got the special of the day, corned beef breakfast burrito - super fresh & I slathered it in gravy!

Mark M.

Yelp
I stopped by with my wife for breakfast. We stood and waited for almost 15 minutes. No one acknowledged us. I watched two tables leave. The front house staff started to bus these tables, then stopped and had some kind of huddle in the back corner of the restaurant. I observed the kitchen and multiple plates are just sitting, for minutes. The last time I tried to eat here was over a year ago. We were ignored then as well. Not sure about the food as we have never been seated. I gave them a second chance today and they showed me again who they are.

Brandon G.

Yelp
Punkys Diner is a gem. We stopped at this place on a whim and we were so pleasantly surprised food was great and service amazing. The hamburger and fries were just fantastic. The best fries I've ever had hands down and the burger had an incredible charbroiled flavor. Will be stopping here again when I am in the area again.

Tony U.

Yelp
Open 4 years ago, Punky's is definitely the best breakfast diner option in Medford. Named after the owner's wife's nickname, Punky's is a kid friendly, family friendly diner that offers lots of American Style lunch and breakfast dishes and an assortment of pies that are out of the world sinful and made from scratch. Coffee is classic donuthouse coffee style that hits the spot but not super strong but excellent even if you sip it black. Service is good and I can vouch for the eggs, bacon, cherry-apple pie and old fashioned waffles which had this hungry traveler's stomach feeling warm and fuzzy. I also appreciated the cleanliness of the place except for an annoying, uninvited housefly that made a loud invasive buzzy presence. Vibe is very Mel's Drive-in-esque and there's even a few photos of Arthur Fonzarelli on the walls scattered about. Would definitely return here for breakfast again at this friendly, family-run establishment.

Terri H.

Yelp
I love going to small breakfast spots especially since I travel for work it's the closest thing to having a home cooked meal . I went in this morning and was greeted with smiles and friendly waitresses.a win already ! I ordered the California omelette filled with bacon cheese and tomatoes with red potatoes and toast with homemade jam . It was absolutely delicious a first in a while without and over cooked rubber omelette . The service was good all the way to the end . The waitresses were all friendly and chatted with the customers and made sure my coffee stayed full . I will definately come back when I'm in town again !

R M.

Yelp
My second visit here; the first was several years ago. I ordered the Sacramento omelet with various veggies, potato cakes and sourdough toast. The omelet was cooked just right but the finely chopped veggies were a bit oily. The potato cakes (mashed potatoes) were nicely toasted and the toast did taste like sourdough. The service was friendly and efficient.

Alma H.

Yelp
This is our first time here and found it to be quite delicious. Such a classic diner feel with awesome service. We will definitely come back again.

Pema S.

Yelp
Fresh food delivered by expert staff., The menu is 50's and quite varied. Very fun. Always tasty. My only complaint is the coffee which is bitter no matter how much cream and sugar you put in it. Does it sit around too long? Pies are great!!! But you want a cuppa coffee it. That's why only 4 stars. Based on more than 3 visits.

Harry B.

Yelp
I've eaten here frequently over a couple years and am upping them to four stars -- they deserve it. Clean restaurant, friendly service and pretty tasty food. I get my "grits fix" on here with a like-minded friend. Their omelettes are my favourite item on the menu.

Heather C.

Yelp
Lovely waitstaff who remember your name and have the cutest aprons which the owner sees herself. We enjoy the food here along with brite and cherry pies in season of course

Michelle R.

Yelp
This was my first time eating at Punkys. The mac n cheese is awful, it doesn't look like mac n cheese should. :-( I'm from the south, we do tend to take our mac n cheese serious, if you are craving it don't order it here. The coconut pie was excellent though!!!

Jay R.

Yelp
I was so excited to see a diner that was actually open! The staff were friendly and the owners are an adorable elderly couple. They were taking safety precautions for sanitation, in order to be able to be open. The place is cute! Very like any 60s themed diner. I had the biscuits and gravy and it was delicious!
