Was in the area, late lunch and decided to order a single to-go pizza. The nice thing about Pupatella is, for carryout, it's a quick, no hassle in-and-out - lots of lot parking. I dig that and frankly it's a consideration when I want to do takeout.
I had had pizza from here once previously, recently (see my prev review) and really liked it. It reminded me a bit of Andy's without having to drive to Tyson's or Fairfax. Both Pupatella and Andy's serve Neapolitan NY style pizza with the foldable crust consistency, not the thick crusts of Domino's or Papa John's but not a crispy thin crust.
The pies come in 1 size - 11" - they're cut into quarters which makes sense especially since the slices are foldable.
As I said in my previous review, they don't skimp on toppings (see my pics) which is a nice touch.
This time, I wanted to try something different so opted for the Ham (Prosciutto) and Mushroom - not cheap - $15.50. (The other pies I tried the last time - the Prosciutto Arugula ($17.50), Margherita ($16.50) and the Caivano ($18.75) - were even more expensive than this one.)
(Btw, an Andy's whole pie (18") is way cheaper and a way better deal - $22 for cheese, $25.50 for their standard pies including Margherita and Pepp.)
The pie transported home decently, no complaints - see my pic and vid (!). Get it home before it condensates and gets wilty a bit inside the box if it sits too long in there. Cure for that? Don't nuke it to reheat - always pop slices in a toaster oven or oven (I crank it up to like 450 for 5 mins) to "crisp it up" - good as new. :)
Enjoyed the Ham & Mushroom a lot. I actually ate the whole pie and I didn't feel like I over-stuffed myself afterwards. I enjoyed the freshness of the pie dough and ingredients - kudos Pupatella. I've decided this will be my new go-to over Domino's or P-John's when I have the occasional hankerin' for pizza. (Another pie favorite if you ever go to Matchbox is their Fig & Prosciutto pizza - SO GOOD. Perhaps, Pupatella you might consider adding this amazing flavor combo to your repertoire hint hint - ?)
If I'm craving me a decent pizza, I'll sprint over to Pupatella for carryout (way closer for me than Andy's). The wait time is reasonable (service is pleasant and friendly btw!), quick in and out right off Wiehle, and with carryout, I avoid paying the exorbitant delivery tack-ons which would make this 11" pie wayyyy overpriced.
P.S. I would consider eat-in too in the future - the place inside was surprisingly impressive (I had old Pizza Hut vibes on the brain but it's nothing like old Pizza Hut vibes lol) - nicely decorated, clean, cozy, nicely lit, and comfortable. Full service.
