Birdcall Flops Into the Future of Fast Food - Eater Denver

"Pupusas Paradise is highly praised for its charred pupusas, which are complemented by curtido, including cabbage slaw and various salsas. The empanadas, corn and chicken tamales, and weekend specials like carne guisada are also satisfying. The all-female kitchen staff is celebrated for their Salvadorian cuisine." - Camila Navarrette

The pupusas here are pretty good, I’m not going to say they’re the best I’ve had but they are pretty good. The waitress was nice and friendly but she did take a while giving us our check. I recommend you give this spot a try!

Google
This restaurant has the best caldo de res ever !!!!! I have never tasted better, the meat is so tender and flavorful, the vegetables are cooked to perfection, and the passion fruit drink is so delicious. The service is amazing making you feel right at home and the restaurant itself is so good with good decor and music selection. They treat you right at home here, you need to check it out. Come support Hispanic restaurant here in GVR!

A friend suggested that we try Pupusas Paradise the next time we were in Denver. So after a little sightseeing, we found the closest one to us. The staff were very friendly and greeted us right away. Our eyes were definitely bigger than our stomachs. The paradise sampler platter was delicious and filling!! We actually packed some up to take back with us to the hotel.

Google
This restaurant exceeded my expectations!!! The food tasted like home. Chicken soup with roasted chicken was less than 20.00. And the pupusas were so tasty. I definitely recommend it !!!

Yelp
We had the most fun company party here. They catered and attended to all of our needs while providing us an opportunity to have a ton of fun with their karaoke and DJing. I would highly recommend this for your company holiday party, we all got to get out of our element and it was a refreshing cultural experience for all. Now the food... phenomenal and we had their fried chicken, which should not be slept on. Of course get all the papusa flavors and the non-alcoholic fruit drinks are amazing. This is a top quality spot in GVR for a family owned, fun, and delicious experience.

Yelp
Food we was AMAZING! I will be coming back. Service was subpar probably because it was busy and there seemed to be only one server. They forgot one of our dishes so we were waiting quite some time before it came out after all the rest of our food. Inside was on the smaller side and a little crammed but we still enjoyed ourself. Have tables big enough for parties of 6 but can add more tables for bigger parties.

Yelp
Food was fantastic. Whenever someone mentions pupusas, I'm in. Ordered several different flavors and all were good but the pineapple and cheese was a stand out. Service was quick and friendly. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Wow, this place is fantastic! The food is awesome and the service was perfect. I had 2 pupusas (chorizo and pina & queso), plantains, and a coconut mojito. Wow! That was a lot of food, and delicious. You've just got to try this.
google avatar

Yelp
I ordered a tamale and some beef tacos. The tamale's texture was not too good- it was a bit mushy. I'm thinking it might be because I had it delivered. The beef in the tacos was tough. The hot sauce and salsa were pretty good though.

Brian S.

Yelp
The food was excellent and the service was just as good. It was a pretty small place but the atmosphere inside was great.

Yelp
Delicious! I've never had (or heard of) Pupusas but they are so good. We got the livers boat and the plantains and fried yucca appetizers. All were delicious!! The waitresses working there were very sweet and we overall had a great experience!

Yelp
We stopped in at the grocery store to pick up a few things for the air BnB we booked and saw this spot. Having a little while before we needed to pick up a friend at the airport and being hungry we stopped in at pupusas paradise. There's an El Salvadoran place near my home and we love pupusas so with a name like pupusa paradise we just had to stop in. We're glad we did. As much as I like the good from the place near me, Pupusa paradise absolutely blew them away with their pupusas. I wish we could get them that good near me. This place is great and well with a stop in if you're in the area. I had a margarita as well which was very good.

Yelp
WOW WOW WOW! Fantastic! Homemade, fast and flavorful. We got the dinner sampler- a little bit of everything. Nothing disappointed. Parking lot. Wheelchair accessible Dual language The place is brightly colored and spacious

Yelp
I'll be honest, I had no idea what a pupusa was. I was just looking for a place to have dinner with some friends while we were traveling for a conference and I saw that this place had a lot of good reviews. Let me tell you those reviews are warranted. The restaurant is located in a shopping plaza so there is ample parking. The interior is very casual. Of course being here, I had to order the pupusas. I ordered the chorizo and asada. For those like me that didn't know what they are it's almost like stuffed naan. It was surprisingly good. Everyone seemed to really enjoy themselves. I would definitely recommend stopping by if you're in the area.

Yelp
The pupusa was delicious and the tamal was enough to fill me up before dropping off the rental car. Sat quickly and the food came out steaming. The spicy sauce is as advertised and is spicy. I stayed with the mild sauce. The price was also much cheaper than eating at the Denver airport
google avatar

Yelp
It's my first time having Salvadorian food so keep this in mind. I went in with an open mindset and no expectations. My server was great and she was on point. The general feel of the atmosphere felt very authentic. My main problem was with the food. I enjoyed the Pupusas at first but after I was halfway through with it the taste got very bland and rich. Same goes for the enchiladas. They seem to love coleslaw because that was on every single one of my dishes. I wish I would have gotten the steak or something else but you live and you learn! I'm one of those people that usually finishes their plate, but in this instance I just couldn't.
google avatar

Yelp
Wow the food was incredible, very authentic. Fresh handmade tortillas yumi... top service and a very nice clean location. 100% authentic food, will recommend it.

Yelp
Great food just the coffee sucks is too light it barely taste like coffee but service was great and delicious food

Yelp
Took an Uber from the airport to this delicious location for some pupusas. It's around 3pm and it's only me and another patron. I'm not sure why there isn't a line put the door but I'm happy because I didn't have to wait. This place is amazing!! I ordered two mixed and they are made fresh. So soft and spongy. Full of flavor. Filling. Great portion for the price. Two has me full. I loved the curtido too. It was served with a small portion so I asked for more and definitely a great decision bc I was able to savor these even more. They have two different salsas and the spicy one is just the right amount of spice. It was worth the Uber ride here for sure. Highly recommend. I like their decor too. Very hip and great music.

Yelp
The Pupusas are good but i think i need to try more from other place so I can tell the difference. They are pricey for a piece which the filling is not that much I also ordered a soup with chicken it taste good . The service is quick and the server helped us with the menu and she is friendly. Ambiance overall is ok they have a little bar. Its 11am Tuesday morning but the place is getting busy which is a good sign that people loves the place. I may still come back to try the other menu that they have.

Yelp
Good ambiance, good food, service was great. I thought it would take long because there's only one server but she was efficient and cook was fast. We ordered empanadas, tostones appetizer with beans, and a platter with various foods that include pupusas, tamales, empanadas, and maduro, it was bomb. We had a long layover and rented a car to sigh see and eat. We made a good choice.
google avatar

Kimber H.

Yelp
My first time trying El Salvadoran food and the primary item is pupusas. We went during lunch on Friday and it was reasonably busy. That's a good sign. Pupusas ordered: asada, bean, chicken, al pastor all with cheese. Pork tamal and empanadas de platano. It was meh for me, but my taste buds don't go gaga for this type of cuisine. However, my counterpart said it was delicious and will come back. 5 stars for cleanliness, service, and quality of food.
google avatar

Kara H.

Yelp
So impressed! There was a huge variety pupusas offered, with tons of flavor and a spicy and mild salsa. The cabbage was so fresh and flavorful as well, and the server didn't even bat an eye when I asked for extra. My friend got the sandwich and was impressed by the amount of meat on it. The place was quiet on a Thursday afternoon but the food was delicious. Well worth returning to if I'm ever in the area.
google avatar

Yelp
Good food and friendly staff. I got take out so I can't attest to the service. My take out food was amazing. They gave me utensils and napkins without me having to ask for them. They give a good amount of curtido with the pupusas. My only complaint was that my nata/crema seemed a little off so I didn't eat it. I didn't mind - not enough of an issue to cost a star! I'll be back - especially since I saw this sign...
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious breakfast! I had the spinach and cheese for one pupusa and mushroom and cheese for the other. Spinach was my favorite. Love the hot sauces. I should have just gotten the pupusas and skipped the extra egg. It was really undercooked (majority of it was still clear whites). Kind of expensive breakfast, but we will know better what to order next time.
google avatar

Yelp
First time here, super friendly service. We went with the platter for 2 people and were stuffed!!!! OMG, the masa in the tamals are so fluffy!!!! It was all tasty and this platter comes with apps, 3 pupusas and dessert, also tried the passion fruit and hibiscus agua Fresca. Really nice lunch! We couldn't even finish it, but that's ok.

Kelly T.

Yelp
Delicious! First time here and everything was great. Generous portions. We had two kinds of pupusas, empanadas, and plantain chips and couldn't even finish everything (two people). Friendly service. Looking forward to trying the Lakewood location too which is closer to us.
google avatar

Yelp
Huge fan of this place! Delicious, authentic pupusas, plantains, juices, and salsas. I want to come back and try their different alcoholic drinks, those have got to be good too! I also need to come back and have their típico breakfast, I miss it from back when I lived in Guatemala and El Salvador. I am so glad to have a great authentic place like this in Green Valley Ranch! I only wish they had a patio! The service is always great, even though there's usually only one or two people working. Support this local gem!
google avatar

Brenda P.

Yelp
Very good food. They offer a huge selection of pupusas, and other items as well. We have ordered many of the various pupusas, and their large sampler platter. All very good. If you are interested in a meal with lots of different textures, this is not for you. All items on the menu are fairly soft, with the exception of the cabbage slaw (which is served with every order).
google avatar

Yelp
The food is really amazing, the service is amazing. The ambiance is wonderful, staff is friendly and amazing. Definitely 10/10 recommend. Clean restaurant as well
google avatar

Michael R.

Yelp
Wonderful, delicious food served quickly in a relaxed atmosphere with excellent service and pricing. I will certainly come back next time I'm in Denver. Conveniently located near DEN hotels too!

Sean G.

Yelp
I never had a papusa before so I was excited to try - bottom line, they were great. I had one asada and one pastor. Two papusas was the perfect portion for me, though I wish they had provided more of the slaw. Salsas were great, the spicy one has a very flavorful bite to it. I would return!
google avatar

Yelp
This place was awesome and I would love to eat some Pupusas here again! It is, by far, the best Pupusa place here in Colorado! We also tried and fell in love with their Tamal and Tamal de Elote! The Salvadoran Horchata was different from the usual horchata but it was absolutely delicious! would recommend this for all Pupusa lovers and 1st time Pupusa eaters! Last but not the least, the service and cleanliness of the entire restaurant was superb! The ladies who served our meals were very welcoming and made sure that we are loving our food!
google avatar

Yelp
Found this place in Green Valley Ranch for breakfast. Tasty breakfast unlike anything I've tried before. The music takes me to a different place, as if I am on vacation traveling the world. Bright eyed service here as well. A hidden gem that won't stay that way for long...
google avatar

Eddie C.

Yelp
I came here for lunch. It's been a while since I had pupusas so I had been anticipating coming. Service was a little slow but that's usually the case at pupusa places, idk why. I got two pupusas, one revuelta and one cheese. They were delicious. I also got a tamal de frijoles and that thing was dry and salty. It was bad. The restaurant itself was nice. I would definitely eat their pupusas again but not the tamal.
google avatar

Amy D.

Yelp
Awesome awesome awesome food! Def try this place if you are in the area. You will not be disappointed. Mushroom and pork shoulder and cheese were very very good.
google avatar

Anita R.

Yelp
Undoubtedly some of the most flavorful food in the area! I've only ever had this type of cuisine once in the Springs and this far exceeded my flavor palate! Portions were immense I ordered two Pupusas's and with the crunchy slaw I could not finish my meal! Only negative thing was we got there on an early Sunday evening so we got our food in a timely manner but the place quickly filled up and the young waitress really did and outstanding job considering she was the only one working other than the kitchen staff, the food is so good, I'm sure word is getting out and I trust you'll only get busier maybe extra help on the weekends! I travel to the Denver area once a week and can't wait to return and try some other flavor options! Do yourself a favor and dine there so worth the drive!!

Yelp
We were on our way to the Denver Airport and wanted to find lunch. Pupusas Paradise showed up on the map. We decided to give it a try. What a wonderful way to end our trip to Colorado! All three of the pupusas we tried were excellent chorizo, pastor and Serrano. The slaw was bright and fresh and the hot sauce was excellent. Cafe con leche was piping hot and full of wonderful flavor. Our server was helpful and the restaurant was very clean. The best food we had during our visit to Colorado.
google avatar

Andrea A.

Yelp
One of the best pupusas I've had and the corn tamale was a hit! It was our first time here and within our first bite, we knew this was fire. Fairly priced and portioned, good service, and with music videos shown on the tv that I can listen to all day. Highly recommend!

Sujatha P.

Yelp
We order 6 different papusas, all were amazing! Esp liked the pina, chile & cheese & Loroca with cheese & beans! But steak, Al pastor, & chorizo were all amazing as well. Friendly, very helpful staff, spoke with me in Spanish, but also some English when I stumbled.
google avatar

Marcia W.

Yelp
We went for the first time since moving to the area. We informed our waitress of this and she was very helpful on what and how to order! We tried a little of everything and had lots of leftovers for the next day! Everything we tried was very unique! Some items we liked a lot more than others. Now we know what we like and what we want to try next time!

Yelp
Took my wife to this informal little place the other night and had a delightful meal. Having never had pupusas before, the hostess did a great job of guiding us to the Paradise Platter for two and was more than ample for the two of us and delicious. If you're looking for a fancy night out, this totally is not the place. If, however, you're a fan of pupusas, tamal, and other El Salvadorian treats, give this cute little place a shot!
google avatar

Jessica J.

Yelp
this was my first time trying pupusas, so i don't really have much to compare my experience to. regardless, i really enjoyed the pupusas i got and appreciated how well seasoned and juicy the pork was. i also enjoyed my tamarind agua fresca, although it was a bit more on the sweet side. there is a good amount of seating and it doesn't feel cramped inside. service was great as well! only downside would have to be the prices, but i don't mind paying it for every once in a while.
google avatar

Rochelle A.

Yelp
We ordered the combo, bean & cheese, asada, and al pastor pupusas, plantain empanadas, tamarindo agua Fresca, and cafe con leche. This is the first place I've seen carne asada and al pastor as an option and they we're definitely a hit. The pupusas itself was flavorful, the curtido was pickled just right, and the sauce was delicious. I ordered 2 pupusas for myself and they were extremely filling, especially the carne asada. The al pastor had a nice, sweet flavor and worked well with the curtido. I've never had anything like the plantain empanadas before and it was a perfect balance of sweet. The filling inside was not overly sweet and worked well with the fried plantain dusted with sugar. The tamarindo agua Fresca was refreshing. The cafe con leche was strong and had a nice dark roast flavor, but I think the leche created some weird film on top that didn't leave a foamy texture, rather it was like left over soggy bread inside the coffee (if you have ever dipped bread in your coffee). The texture was little off putting but the flavor was still excellent. As far as service, there was only one lady at the front of the house. She was the hostess, waitress, the server, and the busser. There was at least 6 parties inside and it took her a while to take our order and close out our tab. I don't blame her, it was just her by herself and she was excellent and friendly. She definitely needs help though especially during the lunch rush we witnessed! The ambiance was lively, Spanish music playing in the background, parties conversing and enjoying their meals. Would definitely eat here again if we're ever in Denver!
google avatar

Kelsey M.

Yelp
Pupusas here are really good! Made fresh but worth the wait. Minus stars because of the bad service like other people have said. I walked in to make a take out order and waited behind a Spanish speaking woman. When our food came I was given no words just my take out container - no bag, no napkins or utensils. The Spanish speaking woman sitting across me received her food in a take out bag and I could see napkins and utensils in there.... I don't know if it's because I'm black or not Spanish but it was rude. Not sure I'd come back here even though the food is good.
google avatar

Les D.

Yelp
The food and service was very good. The mixed fruit drink was so yummy. The amount of food is over the top.
google avatar

Stephanie R.

Yelp
Loved this place! The food is like your in your abuela kitchen waiting on her to finish cooking. The food is made from scratch and you don't find too many places like that anymore. They do need to change the time in their website from 9am to 10am.
google avatar

Karen S.

Yelp
Delicious food for a healthy snack, lunch, or dinner. Pupusas are the perfect meal for gluten intolerant eaters too. And they have so many vegetarian options! I love the tangy curtido (cabbage salad) that comes with the pupusas. I'm very happy to have this restaurant in the area. Thank you!
google avatar

Larry T.

Yelp
If you're in the Denver/Aurora area this is a must visit. I am a Salvadorian food connoisseur and this is by far the best I've ever had. I live in Miami, Florida and we have over 30 Salvi restaurants to choose from. I also had the pleasure of meeting one of the owners Sara and she was a delight to speak to. I will go out on a limb and suggest a Tamal de Pollo or Puerco along with a Pupusa de Chicharrón y Queso. After that you are free to order whatever else. YOU CANNOT GO WRONG! Enjoy and safe travels.

Jocelyn C.

Yelp
We had a super early flight and by the time we picked up our car, we were hungry for some brunch. I found Pupusas Paradise on Yelp - great reviews and it was close. Our selections were chicken/beans/cheese pupusas, rice, and tamales. The pupusas were devoured and we took the rest to go. Food and ambience were awesome, but our server could use a little more pep!

Yelp
I have been wanting to try out this newer restaurant for forever, and I decided today was the day. Upon walking in I was greeted with upbeat music, the light chatter of guests, beautiful vibrant art, and a kind employee that asked me what I wanted to order. She knew her way around the menu, when I asked her to give me a moment to decide what I wanted she pointed out the Pupusa portion of the menu which is what I came there for anyways. After I ordered to go she let me know that they were going to start working on my order immediately, which was much appreciated. The vibe and art is not the only awesome part to this restaurant, but the greenery scattered around the building adds a touch of freshness to the aura. I kick myself for not coming sooner. The food is PHENOMENAL! I ordered the Chorizo and cheese, Chicken and cheese, and Al Pastor and cheese Pupusas. They came with an orange colored sauce and pickled vegetables. The orange sauce was mild in nature with a tomato flavor to start and then a sweetness following behind it; I appreciated how light the sauce was. The pickled vegetables were cabbage, carrots, and jalapeños. Altogether with the Pupusas, sauce, and vegetables it created a beautiful blend in my mouth. The Pupusas were seasoned exceptionally well, the sauce brought the zest then slight hint of sweet, and the vegetables brought the acidity. I will definitely be back here more! They are affordable, the service is good, and the food is even better. This is a must go to recommendation!!

Yelp
Soon as you walk in you can tell here the food was going to be authentic. It was and it was amazing! I had the large platter with 3 pupusas (shrimp, beef, pork) I like shrimp the best. Everything on platter tasted great! The Salvadoran horchata had a slight kick but it was good. The waitress did a good job of explaining what everything was and how it's customarily eaten. Can't wait to go back!

Armie A.

Yelp
My first time tasting el Salvadoran food..: Wow... tasty and freshly prepared, steaming hot when it was served. I and husband shared the paradise plate that more than enough for 2 people. Service was great, we went early on Sunday morning and just us there. We were accompanied by Latin music which was great. I highly recommend for sure.
