I consider it a soft opening so far, as some of the items on the menu were not available yet (especially the combination plates). But I suspect you didn't come here for the combos. The stars of the show are the pupusas, of course.
There is a strong sense of Salvadoran national pride here, as the map of El Salvador is literally the logo of the restaurant. The Salvadoran flags adorn the interior, and the clientele seems to reflect that too. The menu is completely in Spanish. I have rudimentary Spanish linguistic skill, so I had to use Google translate for some of the items.
The pupusas were great. The bread was perfectly grilled, and the filling was gooey and rich. The salad that accompanied the pupusas was refreshing. For all dine-in patrons, you receive a crispy bowl of tortilla chips with salsa. The chips were well-toasted, and that's the way I like them.
The horchata drink was typical--not bad but it certainly didn't stand out. I did like the particulate condiment in the drink. Attentive service was a plus, but I had to wait quite a while for my simple order (two pupusas).
Overall, if you want to experience an authentic Salvadoran dining setting, look no further.
