The Best Wine Bars in Dallas | Eater Dallas

"Carissa and Kenneth Stephens brought their wine bar from Houston up to Dallas, where the couple was drawn to open a space after realizing this was the second-largest demographic to join their wine club. The two are trained as sommeliers and have a mission to make wine accessible to people of color, noting that it is a predominately white space in most places." - Courtney E. Smith

I'm always ready to support a black-owned business! They opened the doors and showed out for Juneteenth!! We absolutely loved the wine and soul food pairings they did. The wines were so much better than expected so I will be coming back soon!!

Enjoyed our experience at this new wine bar in downtown Dallas. The very elegant gold and green interior with marble creates an atmosphere perfect for dates, a classy night out with friends or just a good Instagram post. They also have a private area for members. The wine is made from grapes brought in from the west coast and blended by the owners to create their unique flavors. I really enjoyed a new cab blend they had on offer, the port like desert wine and the rose. Our bartender was very knowledgeable and we had a great time discussing flavor profiles.

My friends and I had a great time. Who knew that sparkling wine paired well with fried chicken. The only critique is that we wished the food had stayed hotter longer. The shrimp and grits needed some type of sauce. Other than that, it was a great experience. The photo ops were top tier.

Visited on a Saturday afternoon as a walk in with 2 other and we were seated at the bar for our tasting. Reservations are highly recommended to ensure your preferred time slot. Our sommelier was warm, welcoming, and passionate about the wines. There are various weekly events, wine club membership perks, and specials to fit any budget.

We came here for my sister’s bachelorette and it was such a great experience! First and foremost this business is black owned and run with such elegance and charm, I am sure to come back and return with my husband! As young black women we felt sophisticated and knowledgeable after our experience, thanks to our gracious, kind, and beautiful souled host, TeJada! I believe she also happens to be the manager of this fine establishment. My favorite was definitely the mulled wine(pictured)! It was so good that I actually ended up buying the bottle of Merlot it was made with, and to my surprise they included the spices complimentary! Definitely a 10/10 experience! I would highly recommend!

My name is Demario. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We had an amazing experience at Pur Noire! Our host Mikela was incredibly knowledgeable, welcoming, and made the entire wine tasting feel both personal and educational. The wines were exceptional each pour had its own story, and our host brought it all to life with passion and charm. It was the perfect blend of sophistication and fun. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a unique and memorable wine experience in the city. Thank you again for such a great time!

The staff was so friendly and knowledgeable. I loved the different varieties of wine they offer. The music was great. 10/10 will be back.

I will always hit the road for great food and wine. Oh, and ambiance. I had the pleasure of attending the grand opening of Pur Noire and the experience was AMAZING! The location is smart. It's on Victory Park so it's prime for strolling and vibing out. The interior is well decorated and I'm excited about the outdoor space (for late fall and winter). The members lounge is posh. I highly suggest joining the wine club to enjoy it and other special events. This is a beautiful spot. The wines are delicious and I suggest going with the grand flight wine tasting. They do offer nibbles to accompany your tasting, but it must be ordered in advance. It's best to always make a reservation in my opinion.

Yelp
Exceptional Service I had the absolute best experience at Pur Noire in Dallas, all thanks to our amazing waitress, Mikela! I'm not a big wine drinker, but Mikela's warmth, knowledge, and enthusiasm completely changed that. She went above and beyond to make sure we had a fantastic time explaining the wines, offering personalized recommendations, and making us feel truly welcomed. Her friendly attitude, attention to detail, and passion for great service made the night unforgettable. Mikela didn't just serve us she created an experience that turned me into a new customer. If anyone deserves a raise, recognition, or promotion, it's her! Pur Noire is lucky to have such a gem on their team. I'll definitely be back, and I'll be asking for Mikela!

Yelp
A couple of things Pur Noire did REALLY well. --I loved that their website showed you where to park in order to get redeemable parking. --The guided wine tasting was swiftly informative--I was worried the guide would spend too much time at our table. --The ambiance was warm and inviting. Everyone was super nice, and the space was fashionably decorated. My qualms with Pur Noire: --It was Live Music Night (Friday Night) and the music was obnoxiously loud. I've noticed this appears to be a trend at black owned establishments and I am unsure why. Nonetheless, the band played a little quieter when our guide shared the feedback. (btw, the feedback didn't come from us). --I wish the wine pours were a little heavier--at least 2 oz. I would've even paid more. Their tasting includes 1 oz pours of 6 wines. So $43ish for 6 oz of wine. Sheesh. I probably won't be back for the tasting, but they have a cute plush bar for walk ins. I'd come back for a glass during a happy hour!

Yelp
Wine, Vibes, and Good Company what more can a girl ask for! Beautiful establishment and beautiful people. Decided to do a tasting during Happy Hour and Pur Noire did not disappoint. If you need to unwind before heading home or a pit stop before a night out, this is your place! This will definitely be on of my weekly hangouts. Ask for Sandra, she is amazing and will take wonderful care of you!

Yelp
It was a cute vibe. Nicely decorated. For the life of me, I'm still trying to figure out why it took almost 2 hours for a tasting of 6 wines. I came here on Sunday will a girlfriend under a reservation, and we felt overlooked the entire time we were there. We had no food, so it really shouldn't have taken so long to complete a simple tasting. Usually, the way it works is you complete the tasting, and then you are impressed with a wine enough to purchase a full glass or bottle. Not the case with us, we were itching to finish so we could leave and go eat elsewhere.

Yelp
Let me give you the good, bad and UGLY. I wanted to love this spot. However, they are new and still have some kinks to work out. I did the Sunday Brunch Bites EXPERIENCE with a friend! This is something I would recommend trying. Food and wine pairings are great. Ambiance 5 STARS It is vey cute and the decor is nice. It's chic and modern. The colors are pleasant and it feels cozy inside. The bar area is very charming and the restroom was clean. I was happy and off to a great start. Food: 4 STARS The chef did his thing. He put LOVE and his whole foot into the food. The bites were so damn tasty and GOOD! Everything was well seasoned and so flavorful. Even though it was just simple bites. I had to take a star off because everything came out cold. I'm like how are you cooking it fresh and made to order, but it comes out cold. Each bite came out cold or luke warm. Please make it make sense. It was still delicious cold. The chef came out and he was pleasant. We had a chance to engage with him. Chicken, waffles, stuffed mushroom, shrimp and grits, eggs and quiche were some of the bites. All were yummy. My favorite was the stuffed mushroom. Wine 3.5 STARS Some of the wines were good and some were ok. I just think the selection is a bit limited. They didn't have any sweet wines. A place should always have one. I did enjoy the tasting overall and really liked the rose. Which was surprising because I don't like most rose wines. The Champagne/Prosecco one was nice on my palate. Service 2 STARS They were short staffed I believe. So I gave them some grace and patience. They kept apologizing for the delay and long waits between each tasting. Some of the staff wasn't knowledgeable when we asked questions. Also I would get wine and no food bite. Or a bite and no wine. They need to get it together and be a bit more organized. Each paring should have wine and food bite. So the service was a miss. Slightly a hot mess. Overall the food saved the day. I did enjoy supporting them and trying a new EXPERIENCE. I wish them success in Dallas. I don't think they chose the best location. It's like hidden and the corner seemed dead. I wish they would have chosen a better area. I will visit the Houston one to compare notes. I know that location is established. The pricing was fair for the tasting. I just didn't get what they showed in pictures. We did inquire about this. I wish them the best and I say it's worth checking out. I would go back if the chef is cooking. I could eat a BIG plate of his food. Tip: charcuterie has to be ordered 24 hours in advance. They don't serve food. If you want food do the brunch bites tasting on Sundays. Make a reservation and pay in advance. With downtown you know parking is hard.

Yelp
We chose Pur Noire as our couples' date night/birthday celebration location (two couples, with one person from each couple celebrating a birthday). We had a 4:30 PM Saturday reservation. It was pretty busy when we arrived, with several two-person tables and two groups. It was energetic and loud. The ambiance and decor were nice (I could see them needing a bigger location pretty soon). We paid for the grand tasting and two charcuterie cups. The grand tasting included six wines. The charcuterie was typical, with prosciutto and salami (I think--I didn't eat), grapes, strawberries, chocolates, nuts, crackers, and honey. The charcuterie was good and held us over until dinner at 7:30 PM. The wines were good, some better than others. Each person in our party found something they liked. Our wine hostess (I can't remember if this is what they are called or sommelier) was nice and seemed knowledgeable. She explained the wines, the creation of the company, and things to look for in the tastings. She gave us the right amount of time between tastings and was very friendly. We each wanted a glass of the Merlot and were told it would be cheaper to get a bottle. The bottle was $64. It was good but not worth that price to us. We've had better Merlots for half that price. But it's a matter of opinion--others may disagree. Also, we couldn't quite figure out the wine club, but to be fair, we didn't ask them to explain. None of us are true connoisseurs, but we each enjoy a good glass of wine and know enough about pairings to get by. We all enjoyed this place and would return/recommend it. It would be nice for a date night or girls' night out.

Yelp
Pur Noire was on our list of things to check out and it being a black owned winery. It was $40 for a wine tasting that included six wines. You can also order a charcuterie board 24 hours before your tasting to go with the event. We forgot to do that but our associate was so nice that she was able to accommodate us for our small party and it really did set off the wine tasting. We started off with champagne while we got ready for the wine tasting to begin. Our associate whose name I can't remember was amazing. She was so knowledgeable about all the wines and just made it a great experience. The wines with the exception of two which were a little too bitter for me were amazing. This is definitely a great spot for a date night or girls night. I will definitely be back when I'm in the area.

Yelp
Service was great and enjoyed the ambiance. Had good music playing, staff was knowledgeable about the wine which was great. Did the quarter wine flight and the wine was good! Enjoyed the ride flavor the rose wine the best out of the flight. Good for a nice date night or girls night/day.

Yelp
Came here for the first time for a wine tasting experience on Valentine's Day during black history month 2025 and this was an absolutely necessary experience for such a time! I really enjoyed learning that this place and all the wines I tasted were black owned. The charcuterie was really nice small food option to go along with our drinks and the ambiance was beautiful and just as tasteful as the whole shabang. Our server was very informative and helpful since we were late for our reservation! I really appreciated the grace period and accommodations considering our delay and life just life-ing. Highly recommend this place and the overall experience!

Yelp
My friend and I stopped by Pur Noire for Sunday Brunch bites. Our reservation was at 1 and they called us 10 mins prior to our appt & advised that the chef was late and asked us to come at 1:30 or 2. We were already in front of the building. In my opinion, the short notice was extremely unprofessional. The winery itself is gorgeous. Very chic. Very cutesy. I loved it. The music was selection was on point. Now to the brunch, the waitress served us and advised that the chef never showed up and they whipped the food up. All of it was lukewarm. It wasn't hot at all, I didn't eat any of it. I didn't feel comfortable. If the chef called in, who made the food? Idk. The wine itself was sub par. We were able to choose from three different wines for the tasting. Nothing memorable. Our server was phenomenal and extremely apologetic. It's not her fault that the chef didn't show however it was an inconvenience & it wasn't a good first impression. I don't plan to come back but I do hope that this black business succeeds.

Yelp
Amazing experience with friends! We came for a Birthday wine tasting party and TeJada hosted our awesome event! Come check out this place for a real wine tasting time!! The wine variety is delicious and thoughtful we learned about the company and owners and made us fall in love even more. The owners knew what they were doing by opening this place!!!

Yelp
Had a great time celebrating a friend's birthday here. The ambience was very chic and mellow. The choices of wines seemed of good quality. The staff was well informed on the wines and gave great intros for what we were drinking. They also delve into how the owners of the bar came to be. I ordered the small charcuterie plate with the three wine sample reservation. I called ahead to see if the small would be enough, and they were very friendly and informative on what would work. I would visit again.

Yelp
Ayanna fix my wine!!!! The expierence was beyond amazing and the customer service was spectacular. They are bringing a Upscale vibe to the black community where everyone is welcomed.

Yelp
Let's talk about the BEST new tasting room in Dallas! Yes, (cue Etta James) AT LAST, Pur Noire Urban Wineries Dallas is open in Victory Park!! As an extra treat, owners Kenneth and Carissa Stephens were in town so we got to catch up on the latest new developments (#ErionWines.) TeJada Kennedy started us off with Pur Noire's Pinot Gris Elevation, a bright and crisp delight. Next we tasted the Tempranillo Rosè Euphoria, which has long been one of my favorites. Then Carissa stopped by to let us try Erion's Sauvignon Blanc and Rosè, which are so smooth and easy to drink. These are the bottles you keep in the fridge because you want a glass of wine on a Tuesday afternoon or to share with a friend who stops by on the weekend. Each varietal is unique and it would be impossible to pick a favorite. To finish out our adventure, Carissa shared both the Erion and Pur Noire Merlots with us. The Erion has the rich Merlot taste you'd expect, but with a lighter feel that can still be enjoyed with a meal. The Pur Noire Merlot was the perfect ending to a wonderful visit. It has the full flavor that engulfs every taste bud and leaves it begging for more. This is the wine I hoard in my wine fridge and bring out on special occasions. Whether you're a sophisticated wine aficionado or are simply wine curious, the amazing staff at Pur Noire has the experience and expertise to help you find your perfect match in this gorgeous place. If you're in Houston be sure to visit the original Pur Noire Urban Wineries location Downtown on Milam. Want more Pur Noire at home?? Join the Wine Club!! The extra perks are well worth it and you will have access to wines that may not be available to everyone else. And you'll have more reasons to visit the tasting room to try your complimentary monthly pour! I could go on and on, but now I'm thirsty for another glass of wine!

Yelp
Just left Pur Noire. I came with high hopes, but was disappointed with the wine flight selections and lack of flexibility to add a wine variety or substitute a wine variety. The first wine selection, Pur Elevation which is a pinot gris, had a good aroma but tasted like water. I asked to substitute with the Sauvignon Blanc, which I normally drink, but they said no. I asked to buy a glass to try it and they said no, because I have to be a member to buy a glass on Sunday. I felt like I was back in Jim Crow days. Needless to stay, the service was disappointing. I live to patronize our businesses, but this was ridiculous. Why would I want to be a member when the first impression was like this? I'm a wine connoisseur and I've never had this experience at a winery or wine bar.

Yelp
What a beautiful establishment.. The wine and the service are top tier. Mikela was great, she was knowledgeable about the wine list and we had a lot of fun with her as our server. We'll definitely be back.. 10 out of 10!

Angela H.

Yelp
The service was amazing! It was my first time here and I really enjoyed the atmosphere as well as meeting new people! I will definitely be back!

Brittany B.

Yelp
Keyana is very knowledgeable of the wine selection and I throughly enjoyed her service. The place is decorated nicely ... very simple, very chic, very demure! I would definitely recommend this wine tasting for a good girls night out.

Ladonna J.

Yelp
This was my first time trying it in Dallas and the wine and atmosphere was nice. I am giving it a 4 as they should have some food choices that you can order while you are there, they should also automatically serve crackers or something to help clean your pellet between tastings and they were not very accommodating to a change in our reservation from wine only to include the brunch that Sunday. When I first made the reservation I was not aware of the option for the brunch so we called ahead of time to see if we could upgrade. The chef said it was OK as he had enough food, however the hostess said no. So why would you not accommodate us if the Chef okayed it. That was not good customer service.
