The Best Ice Cream Shops in Dallas and Fort Worth | Eater Dallas

"Looking for ice cream with a natural sweetness? The soft serve ice cream in this spot is sweetened with raw honey sourced from a local beekeeper and is made with local, organic Texas milk. Try its honey, butter pecan, or dark chocolate flavors, but the banana cream pie soft serve is the star of the menu. The shop sells by the cup or by the carton, and delivery is available through Favor or Uber Eats. There are also sundaes, shakes, and ice cream nachos." - Courtney E. Smith

We came here on Thursday evening, July 31st around 7pm… and there was only one person working? The gentleman looked a little flustered, but he handled the growing line without any problems, but PLEASE GIVE HIM A RAISE!!! Aside from the only one employee doing all the work, this was such a great find for us! We’re always looking for dessert shops who don’t add a bunch of added junk to make things taste good. This was such a treat for us since I am a diabetic, I can’t really enjoy many desserts since they spike my sugar levels, so I was glad that we found a place that only sweetened their ice cream with honey. I got the Honey flavor with some fresh strawberries and it just hit the spot for my little ice cream craving. My husband got the same thing a cone with some peanuts and he loved his as well. Can’t wait to be back!

Google
I got news about their closing date (August 5th). These marshmallows we’re life changing and this hibiscus drink is so refreshing. The rosemary peach and homemade ice cream cone is just perfect. I just pray they decide to come back later on.

Christopher Spivey

Google
Really good ice cream and a nice stop for dessert. The two of us shared the honey vanilla flavor. We sampled the honey lavender flavor and the lavender was way too strong so maybe don't get that lol.

Google
This place is good. Very high quality. However like I want my strawberry soft serve to taste like strawberry, not honey. Great concept, just needs to be revamped a little bit. I think the hazelnut is the best! Just flavors need to taste more like their actual flavor.

Lisa Nguyen

Google
Milk and honey is delicious. I got the parfait and my boyfriend got the banana pudding ice cream with hot fudge and caramel. The caramel is made out of honey and is delicious, my boyfriend loved it and so did I.

Google
I visited this spot with my son over the spring break. We enjoyed our time there. It was small and the service was very quick. I was grateful to have a sample of the ice cream before making an order. My son had the cookies and cream sundae and I had a brownie sundae. It was not super sweet but actually just right!

Satish Kumar

Google
Best ice cream ever! They have good Sundae’s , Cakes & Shakes ..Delicious and Fresh fruits for toppings.. Must try Parking would be a challenge!!

Sierra H

Google
A fun experience, definitely strong honey flavor in their ice cream which paired nicely with the strawberry cheesecake, but did take a little adjustment as I don’t eat a lot of honey flavored things. Just a heads up the taco sundaes are huge! Could easily be shared between two people

Yelp
We went with kids, and ordered 3kids size ice cream, assuming it will be small. Guys portions are so generous, and lady was super kind warm welcoming, atmosphere feels so good, it was right before the sunset, enjoyed the view of sunset sky, taste of honey ice cream was delicious, couldn't finish it, but definitely comes back. Don't hesitate just go and try it.
google avatar

Yelp
The strawberry shortcake ice cream is a must try rven if you have to drive there!! That's the only thing I tried. The taco is a waste of money as it doesn't add any flavor or taste difference so just get it in a cup. They could make the ambience even better.
google avatar

Nicole T.

Yelp
Quick stop after attending a cocktail class! I liked the flavor selections from here, the lavender was quite delicious. I was torn between a bunch of flavors but decided one lavender. Service was quick and nice and the vibes were bright and clean.
google avatar

Yelp
I ordered the regular honey (which is also vanilla) ice cream with bananas as a topping. It was amazing, light and refreshing. It is also sweetened with honey and you'll taste a lot of it, so it's bound to make you thirsty after you're done licking the little paper bowl clean.
google avatar

Kelly S.

Yelp
This is a cute place with a great location. However, the idea is better than the execution. The signs on the wall are busy and confusing and then when you get up to order it's hard to figure out what you want bc there are no visuals up front except the toppings. The people that work there are very friendly but the whole thing moves very slow. I think it world work better for customers to order on a tablet and have the employees make the items. Would be faster and then it would be easier for the customers to see the options. I don't know if ill be back here, it wasn't amazing, but they do have some unique sounding flavor combinations and it is very cute.

Jo L.

Yelp
Not too much of a flavor variety but for the price you pay you do get a lot of ice cream. The workers were nice and the ambiance was decent but i'm not sure if i'd come back. Decent experience but i think i would go looking somewhere else first for a sweet treat before coming here.
google avatar

Teresa H.

Yelp
Cute, natural ice cream option being flavored with honey rather than pure cane sugar. It seems colder if that makes sense, maybe due to the honey? I tried egg nog ice cream with homemade granola as my topping. Not as creamy as some other ice creams but flavorful. Counter service was quick; it's a small shop so limited seating with a few outside but too chilly the day we went.
google avatar

Sania H.

Yelp
A cute ice cream shop outside of downtown Dallas. Quite pricey, and although the ice cream is only sweetened with honey, not worth the expensive price in my opinion. The sundaes were cute, but nothing tasted exceptional. Bonus points for the nicely decorated interior and unique flavors.
google avatar

Yelp
Imagine walking in on a Thursday night and waiting 15 minutes to watch the kid behind the counter incredibly slowly take his incredibly sweet time making desserts while you watch and wonder if he's gonna take your order but he never does because he's too damn busy

Rhonda D.

Yelp
Everything I tried was amazing, but the petite almond cookies are sinful. I purchased a small bag at the last minute, the cookies were instantly devoured by myself and family: the consistency is perfection, they are not too sweet with just a touch of almond.
google avatar

Ebonie Q.

Yelp
In the mood for something sweet to beat the heat and stumbled upon this gem. They offer a few simple flavors of soft serve ice cream, a choice of one topping for free, or you can purchase a premade combination. When I saw the banana pudding ice cream I knew I wanted it plain. I LOVE BANANA ICE CREAM, and it so hard to find. It was soo good. I'll defiantly be back for it. I saw a couple YELP reviews stating the honey used in the ice cream was local and the only sweetener used. Im not sure if that's true but if it is that's pretty cool. Pros: The cashier Amari was super sweet and helpful. My ice cream was delicious Cons: $5.50 plus tax is a little pricey
google avatar

Hyun P.

Yelp
This ice cream place is in a great location at mockingbird station, convenient for shoppers and movie goers to stop by. The atmosphere is lively but the ice cream just okay. I got the hibiscus tea and it was like drinking a cup of room temperature sweet syrup, so I was only able to drink half the cup, no customization on sweetness level or ice level.
google avatar

Chastity W.

Yelp
Very cute place. The workers were so sweet and accommodating. The ice cream was not my favorite. It had a bit of a sour taste, which later gave me a pretty bad stomach ache. I am not lactose intolerant by the way. I'm not sure if I would choose this place again.
google avatar

Yelp
Visited Pure Milk and Honey for dessert on a Friday night. The shop was pleasantly busy and the girl making the desserts was kind and patient. We got the s'mores sundae with the original honey ice cream. It was yummy. I just wish the toppings were mixed in better, we had topping less ice cream after finishing the top. Would be back to try the other flavors or desserts. There is seating inside the shop and there is a parking lot directly to the left of it along with street parking outside if you are lucky :)
google avatar

Rachel M.

Yelp
The ice cream is ok BUT...Came during the rain on Saturday 4/20. The floor was so slippery and they had the world's smallest door mat. My adult daughter immediately slipped and fell. My grandson slipped and fell too. The employees said nothing. They didn't ask if they were ok, didn't try to get towels to prevent more falls - nothing. TERRIBLE customer service. Will not be back. Contemplating legal action for injuries.
google avatar

Caroline N.

Yelp
They were definitely not kidding about the honey part! Very small interior with not many places to sit and eat
google avatar

Dan N.

Yelp
I was in the area on a Saturday night after dinner and decided to stop by for a little dessert. Pros: -First impression, the inside is a very cute and clean looking place. I also loved that they had natural flavors and they didn't have much processed ingredients in them. The texture and consistency of the ice cream is probably the main highlight of this place. They had some unique flavors but the honey or matcha was my favorite and the prices were decent for the quality. Cons: -There wasn't too much room for outdoor eating. It would have been nice to have more room outside since it was a nice day. The recommendation: If you're a lover of soft serve then definitely check this place out.

Yelp
food: 5/5 - i was craving something sweet and it was on my way home. i usually never get ice cream, but i was feeling adventurous. i'm a huge fan of chocolate, however, i had a chocolate sample and i personally wasn't the biggest fan of it. with the help of the service, i was able to meet in the middle and got the regular sized going bananas with the honey based. it was amazing and satisfying! service: 5/5 - i'm a very indecisive person and i do take a while. the guy working was very patient with me and he offered me samples. i had the opportunity to try four different flavors and he answered all my questions thoroughly and kindly. thank you so much for your patience! ambiance: 5/5 - it's a small and cozy store with cute decor. i like vibes! it's very casual and great for a little family/friend hang out

Yelp
Had the Mama Mía. Should have stuck with small but the temptation....The amaretti cookie is a tastebud sensation. I just want to buy some of those all on their own. Love that the ice cream doesn't taste like a spoonful of sugar so you can focus on the flavor instead.
google avatar

Sally C.

Yelp
Well hubby and and I had dinner and was ready for some dessert. Ice cream was on the taste buds and because I can't have dairy we ended up at Pure Milk and Honey on my Yelp search for ice cream. What a refreshing tasty and light ice cream. I had the non-dairy Peach and Rosemary with pecans. Hubby had the strawberry shortcake sundae. He enjoyed the taste of honey and felt it was just right and not to sweet like regular ice cream. I'm glad they had a nondairy option, hope they are working on other flavors. It's located in a shopping area with other restaurants and stores. So you can have dinner close by, walk around and shop or just take a stroll while you enjoy your Pure Honey ice cream.

Yelp
Excellent. Absolutely loved Pure Milk and Honey. If you are in the area and are craving some ice cream, they are a MUST. I had opted for the Hazelnut Ice Cream with a bite of cheesecake, and the honey cake. The ice cream texture and consistency was phenomenal. Not heavy in the slightest- Pure Milk and Honey uses their namesake, Honey, to sweeten their ice creams. It's sweet, but not overly sweet. The cheesecake that I opted for a topping was delicious. You can tell they put a ton of thought into curating what toppings they will have that pairs with their ice cream. The honey cake- incredible. Probably one of mr favorite cakes that I've had EVER. I've deliberated for a while on how to explain the honey cake, and I can find no other words other than it's the perfect amount of sweetness. Absolutely loved Pure Milk and Honey. Although I live in Fort Worth, it's worth the drive.
google avatar

Darryl T.

Yelp
Service was nice, the guy behind the counter was very knowledgeable and helpful gave us samples as we had never been here. We had a couple different things. I think in the toppings they could give you a little more but overall the taste is pretty good. I appreciate what they are doing at pure milk and honey. It is pretty small inside I'd call it quaint or cozy. I'd go back , not too too pricey.

Yelp
We are not from Dallas area and the mapping isnt super clear-so I called from the parking lot(around the corner) and the person who answered could only tell me they were across from another store... being not from there-that didnt help so we just parked and walked around till we found it. The menu is TV screens on the wall-not super clear but after asking-we were pointed that way. Place was empty when we came. Once i got over the sticker shock-I was committed since I had promised my girls. We got 2 regular cones and a regular cup. We all decided on chocolate I expected a rich dark chocolate but got a smooth medium to milk chocolate. My coconut sprinkles were 'off' i cant explain it but they were dryer than they should have been-i REALLY like my coconut and have had it in pretty much all iterations including straight off the tree. It was 'fine' but not what I expected for $7/each. and yeah-$21 for 2 kids and a grownup-never again. Id rather spend $21 at walmrt for Talenti and get 4 full pints. The toasted waffle cone my kids got was thick, crunchy, and carmelized by toasting-it was REALLY REALLY good and the reason for 2 stars instead of 1.

Yelp
I've been a long-time regular (3+ yrs now) at Pure Milk & Honey and it never disappoints! It's a cute little ice-cream shop tucked in the plaza behind the Mockingbird station. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, so you can sit and enjoy their delicious treats. The quality and taste of their ice-creams have been consistently top notch. A big reason that keeps me coming back here is their use of natural ingredients, and pure honey to sweeten their ice cream. I'm watching my sugar-level and can enjoy this without guilt. The honey lavender, and chocolate are my favorites. They're also pretty good with coming up with really unique flavors, inspired by the season. Overall, it's a 10/10 for me!

Yelp
Really good soft serve, inhaled my personal choice of honey with banana, strawberries, chocolate chips and honeycomb in maybe 5 minutes! The nice guy working didn't even laugh at me when I forgot what ube was and asked what "you-bee" was haha my friend however did not hold back haha good place for a dessert snack - yum!

Tosca O.

Yelp
I'm a little puzzled by all the positive reviews. Both my husband's and my ice cream had an aftertaste, especially the cookies and cream. The toppings I paid for were just a tiny sprinkle compared to the generous portion of ice cream. They disappeared after just three bites. I wish I had taken a photo, but my camera was acting up. They were quite busy and had only one employee working, which must have been very stressful for her. I wouldn't go back. Honestly, I feel like the ice cream from the grocery store is a thousand times better.
google avatar

Mercedes H.

Yelp
Nice concept: soft serve ice cream with a choice of natural flavors and toppings. The flavors were a little limited.
google avatar

Rachel R.

Yelp
Delicious ice cream that doesn't upset my stomach. I love the honey enhanced vanilla with the rich chocolate. Love this place and will be back
google avatar

Brianna O.

Yelp
Super cute, clean and minimalist storefront with really good soft serve ice cream made with local honey! The flavors are few - there were three options when we went and the blueberry earl grey one was not our favorite, but several topping options. We got the chocolate explosion and the s'mores sundaes. The toasted marshmallow was SO good! Like seriously, so good! It did seem like the ice cream was softer than normal, ours was already melting before we could get both of our ice creams and to our seat... so that was messy, but also, it's ice cream.

Michaeline W.

Yelp
Great spot to get ice cream if you're in the area! Service was great and I was able to try a small cup full of the flavors I was interested in. Quite a few table seating indoors and a couple outdoors (there's also benches around mockingbird station). I came on a Saturday afternoon and it wasn't too busy. UBee & honey with cookie dough are an awesome flavor combo. My only complaint is that it melts REALLY fast. Like only a couple minutes later it melted so much and the wind blew some of it on my clothes lol (no biggie). I would love to try the matcha next time. If you like soft serve style and interesting or unique flavors, give this place a try!
google avatar

Madison P.

Yelp
I won a giveaway on Instagram for a "Bee Mine Valentine Ice Cream Cake" from pure milk and honey and it was so amazing! I had been wanting to try this shop for the longest time- so I love that this gave me the perfect reason to do so! The owner was so sweet and nice, and inside the shop was very clean and cute. The cake was made with their honey ice cream, which tasted exactly like pure honey- so natural! And chocolate ice cream, berries, house made jam, with a cupcake bite, and delicious dark chocolate raspberry truffles...This cake tasted so delicious, and the flavors went together so perfectly. I can just tell everything from here would be made with such quality and flavor. Definitely recommend!
google avatar

Amy W.

Yelp
Sadly, we tasted the black sesame - I didn't really taste the sesame. We ordered the pumpkin and I didn't really taste the flavor either. About $5 for a small tasteless ice cream...not for me thanks.
google avatar

Adriana A.

Yelp
the only soft serve place i've found that only uses honey as a sweetener! it's delicious and they have great flavors. great service and location.
google avatar

Edlyn V.

Yelp
Very welcoming environment, we were greeted as soon as we walked in. The spot is cute and small. I love their idea of having everything sweetened with honey, nice touch. The soft serve however is not much different than your a average. They definitely pile on high your cups which is a great touch! We had the monthly special! Tasty, but not AMAZING.
google avatar

Amanda H.

Yelp
Light, sweet soft serve and very generous portions. The original honey flavor was perfect
google avatar

Lindsey C.

Yelp
I got the campfire sundae which has honey ice cream topped with a graham cracker, dark chocolate chips, homemade chocolate fudge sauce, and a homemade torched marshmallow. Personally, it was way too sweet for me mainly because of all the chocolate chips, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. The toasted marshmallow was my favorite part of the sundae. I also tried the cherry iced tea; it wasn't overly sweet and you could really taste the cherry flavor, which was nice. The server was super nice and helpful and this place has such a cute interior, so you can definitely get some nice pictures.
google avatar

Leanne G.

Yelp
Delicious frozen yogurt! All made with honey that is locally sourced in South Dallas. The server was very knowledgeable about their products and helpful in explaining the different sundaes and other options. He also expertly and quickly prepared our order. The shop is very clean - tables had been recently wiped and were socially distanced. We ate outside at distanced tables. The only down-side is the limited number of flavor options - available when we went were chocolate, honey, lavender earl grey and a non-dairy dark chocolate option. These were good, but some other options would be great!
google avatar

Bryant S.

Yelp
Tried a banana shake. I can say the service was excellent, and I could chew real banana within the shake. A nice atmosphere as well.
google avatar

Elaine M.

Yelp
Awesome place to grab ice cream!! Definitely grab a back to school sundae! It rocks and takes away all the virtual school woes from the week, lol. They actually had an option for my diabetic, lactose intolerant spouse who usually never gets a chance to have any ice cream. There are actually two non dairy options dark chocolate and pink rose lemonade. They also have kids cup which is perfect for my petite 10 yo and she got strawberry topping and was in heaven. My teen got coffee (I know, stunt your growth!) with dark chocolate chips. She was pretty happy about that. I'll be back to enjoy some of the other sundae flavors! The ice cream is super creamy and holds it shape quite well!
google avatar

Laura P.

Yelp
Delicious and unique soft serve ice cream creations meticulously assembled in a very cute shop at Mockingbird Station await you here! COVID precautions are strongly followed here, with customers required to wear Kal masks, a limit of 5 customers in the store at a time, social distancing markers in the floor, and both cashless & contactless payment. Staff are masked and wear gloves, are separated from customers by a partition. There are 3 tables inside, each one more than 6 ft from the other tables. There is also seating outside. We felt very safe here. We have had a hot August in NTX - and it's great to have a cold ice cream break to end the weekend. I had the Chocolate Explosion with Coffee soft serve, and it was both beautiful and delicious. The brownie bite was very rich and the perfect size. Sarah had Midsummer Night's dream: honey soft serve with fresh raspberries, raspberry sauce, slivered almonds and a chocolate macaron. She added a perfect bite of real honeycomb, which dripped and oozed fresh honey down the sundae, before disappearing in a delicious bite. I will get this next time we come :) My other daughter had the cookies and cream sundae, which is honey ice cream with a homemade Oreo cookie and chocolate cookie crumbs. A delicious mash up of cool smooth soft serve and crunchy cookie crumbs made for a refreshing treat. My husband ordered a honey shake with chocolate chips. He really enjoyed it - and the honey favor was evident. We also picked up a pint of the Chocolate Hazlenut soft serve from the cooler to enjoy at home later this week :) In all, a delightful and unique ice cream experience that we can't wait to share with our friends. 5 sweet stars, honey!
google avatar

Havah S.

Yelp
Their ice cream is pure, simple, and delicious. The flavors really shine through. All the ingredients are all-natural and locally sourced, and the ice cream is made on site. They don't add artificial sweeteners, they only sweeten with honey. The prices are good and the cup sizes are good as well. I love that the kids sized cup is 3.75 and actually kid's sized. Will definitely be back again with my whole family.
google avatar

Carol C.

Yelp
High quality and delicious ice cream! I tried the cookies and cream sundae and loved it. They also have a bunch of seasonal offerings and other fun sundae combinations!
google avatar

Asiah C.

Yelp
I tried the Strawberry Cheesecake which had delicious homemade cheesecake and strawberry jam. There was cheesecake mixed throughout which I loved. My friend had the Camp Fire which was like a frozen smore. This one is honey ice cream topped with a graham cracker, dark chocolate chips, homemade chocolate fudge sauce and a homemade torched marshmallow. I wish it had more torched marshmellow because it was so good. Other than the toppings, it was plain honey ice cream. What's un-bee-lievable is that the soft serve is truly super soft. It's sweetened with just the right amount of quality honey. The milk is from a certified organic dairy farm and honey is from a local certified bee farm. Also, non-dairy options are available!

Mark D.

Yelp
Not a fan. Why? Flavor and serving. 1st flavor. When the pistachio was put in my mouth, the predominant flavor was cold following up by a hint of pistachio. I wasn't to be smoother with fewer ice crystals. 2nd serving. I ordered a medium with banana and their made hot fudge sauce. Did I like the hot fudge? I'm not sure because there was so little of it, tasting was a challenge. How little? Maybe 1/3 of a teaspoon at most. Bottom line: A. I don't care if the ice cream is sweetened with honey if the texture and flavor is subpar. B. To put angle hair size strip of chocolate is cheap and inadequate. This ice cream fan has no need to return.
google avatar

Shawna B.

Yelp
Lots of options to choose from!! It was our first time in and we ordered the chocolate explosion. Super rich and flavorful. Will definitely be back to try out some of the other flavors.
google avatar

Min Seung K.

Yelp
Generous portions, clean atmosphere and great service. Their honey soft serve is amazing and I love their house made waffle cones.
google avatar

Sherene Joyce F.

Yelp
Fantastic Service. The staff that was there was very informative about the ice cream. I really love how it is made with natural ingredients. Ube Swirl: I ordered the ube swirl. Ube is purple yam known as a dessert in the Philippines and is added to pastries/dessert. I actually think the taste closely resembles the actual ube I have had with my Filipino food. It was good and even won my boyfriend's taste buds. :) I will be coming back for more. Also, we did take home a Bailey's Ice Cream and it was good!!! The store does sell pint ice cream. ;)
google avatar

Cecile D.

Yelp
Update: the owner replied and I respect her talking to the employee about it! Even replied to my comment which is a great sign of a business! Five staaars
google avatar

Tin P.

Yelp
Quick, efficient customer service. Very clean, bright area and I love all the options they have! Very unique in the sense that you can really Taste the honey in their ice cream! They also have points of ice cream available for purchase. I recommend it. A GOOD TIME
google avatar

Brigitte K.

Yelp
Sweet soft serve in Mockingbird Station. This ice cream shop was cute and the ice cream is good. There's honey, matcha, non dairy chocolate, chocolate and vanilla flavors. Lots of toppings to choose from, all the nuts and fruit. And the banana bread is tasty. I'm all about supporting asian owned businesses! They also torch their marshmallows and it tastes awesome. Good location for a quick sugar craving fix!
