Google
My husband and I found this theater shortly after we moved here 2 years ago. We have attended several performances and have enjoyed them all. The performers are top notch and the issues they tackle are relevant and thought provocing. We plan to continue to frequent this little gem of a theater!

Google
We come to Folly Beach each October, and have enjoyed several engaging productions at this intimately sized theater during the MOJA Festival.

Great theater experience, plenty free parking!

The cast and directorial team at PURE are fantastic. We have seen dozens of shows ranging from one man comedies to ensemble cast dramas and each leaves us impressed with the talent in our community and anxious for our next show. They are a true gem in the Charleston arts scene crown and worth a visit if you are a local or just have a night or two in town!

I have had the pleasure to experience many performances at Pure Theater. Tonight I saw " If I forget"! It was unbelievably deep! Never mind how thought provoking it was in a most positive way, the acting in particular of " the old man" was incredible! Btw - the first time I ever wrote a review, but this performance truly touched me.

We saw Straight White Men last night. We have season tickets so have seen all the plays this year. All have been very good theater, but this one was my favorite. The play was funny & thought provoking. The set was spot on for the material. The cast was super. I felt as if they completely occupied their roles. A stellar way to end your season.

Google
I just saw their production of TINY BEAUTIFUL THINGS. It was truly wonderful. The acting and direction were outstanding. It definitely made my evening. I enjoyed the intimate theatre space. The seats were comfortable as well. I would highly recommend this theatre.

Google
Caught "True West" here. Outstanding performance. Great, relaxed venue. There was **PARKING**!!! Which is amazing for a downtown theater - and made the experience more relaxing. Great acting. Wonderful play selection. Go check it out.

Yelp
Beautiful space and an amazing cast and crew to boot. Can't wait to see what the next season holds for these incredible humans! Plenty of space to move about and not feel cramped. Very comfortable setting. Easy parking right next door at the MUSC lot.

Yelp
Pure Theatre is a new find for us, and we saw The Chinese Lady, which was both witty and heartbreaking. Pure moved from King St. to Cannon St. in 2019. It is an intimate spot offering true theatre experience with what most would feel a more eclectic choice of plays. I can't tell you how excited I am that we found them. They abut some of the MUSC buildings, which allows the theatre to rent spots so you can park. While the parking is free, they do have a $5.00 donation jar to help offset the cost. We happily donated because it is soooo convenient. The theatre has a small bar offering beer, wine, and gourmet popcorn choices. Thankfully no one chomped popcorn on this night. I do feel it is not necessary at a stage production. If you enjoy live theatre please add this to you list of spots to keep an eye on!

Yelp
At the Pure Theatre, simple but interesting decor, intriguing pre-show; affordable, very thoughtful marketing, etc

Yelp
Another great season in the works! Pure is an amazing theater company in a fabulous space. The stage is always transformed and the actors are beyond talented. Pure connects with their community with sponsored evening featuring items/food from neighborhood eats. They have a champagne toast night + you are able to meet the cast. The quality of the show is always PHENOMENAL and they probably have one of the best virtual watchings I have ever experienced.

Yelp
We just saw "The Roommate". Save your money! A very disturbing play about a lonely divorced woman who gets a roommate whose life on the run teaches her how to scam friends out of money, lie and use drugs and question her sexuality. The performance was slow and awkward, the storyline was unsettling and unfinished.

Yelp
Pure Theater is located on Upper King Street in the heart of the biggest growth area in Charleston. This venue houses some of the most creative and risky live theater in the city and offers services to other arts including poetry slams. The theater itself is intimate with about 300 seats and a stage build for single or duel set productions. There is a feel of urban, college and trendy post modern with the design and decor. Outside the theater is a small open lobby and bar. If you want some creative and often times emotional live theater in a venue surrounded by some great restaurants (Basil, Stars, HOM, Kingdom, 492 and more) come to Pure Theater

Yelp
Recently saw Other Desert Cities here. It was a great performance. The theatre itself was very nice. Much nicer than other black box theaters in Charleston, but I won't name names. The ticketing process was really easy and they have a mobile website which made it even easier. Tickets were a little pricy, but I was happy that they had some matinee options. Tickets are all paperless as well.

Yelp
This is a small theater but has a great location on King. I attended the Tedx Charleston talks here and had a great time. I look forward to seeing other shows here to see what they truly have to offer. Either way it is a very intimate setting for any kind of show.

Yelp
PURE is a jewel in Charleston's theater crown. What an amazing experience: PURE's stunningly talented ensemble always delivers. This black box theater on King Street in the middle of the bar and restaurant scene should be at the top of your theater dance card. Sharon Graci is a master and the season tickets are a bargain. We moved to Charleston three years ago and love theater. PURE is our favorite venue and we have experienced all of the Charleston theaters. The mark of great theater is how much you think and talk about a production. PURE has made us laugh, cry, question, challenge, empathize, and cringe. We just bought our season tickets and are counting down to the first offering. If you love theater, go!

Yelp
My absolute favorite theater in Charleston. The plays are incredibly creative and thought provoking. Each production features some of the most talented actors I have ever seen. I have seen many plays in NYC and these actors are equal to anything I have ever seen on Broadway or in Boston. BRAVO!

Greg B.

Yelp
I am visiting Charleston for work and randomly looked for s play to watch, which got me to Pure Theater. I saw Last Rites and it was amazing. Great acting, lots of tension, a few moments of humor, and I truly didn't know what to expect in the end. The theater itself is beautiful and everyone I spoke to was friendly and helpful. I'm a playwright and occasional actor in Seattle and will be back to Pure Theater every time I'm in Charleston.

Yelp
Thoroughly enjoyed the production of Sweat. As fine as any Broadway play I've seen. The acting was superb.
