19 Restaurants for Halal Dining Around Atlanta

"A longtime favorite for halal Bangladeshi cuisine on Buford Highway, grab a table with family and friends and share vegetable pakoras and chicken shingara, followed by plates of spicy goat haleem, quail vindaloo, lamb tandoori, and a variety of biryani. Make sure to order garlic naan and aloo porata (flat bread stuffed with mashed potatoes and spices). Order firini (rice pudding spiced with cinnamon, coconut, and cardamom) for dessert." - Eater Staff

First time to try Bangladeshi food and everything was quite tasty I must say. Our server was so nice and explained everything so well. Follow her recommendations you can’t go wrong. Our favorite was the chicken dishes that I forgot the names but see the pictures definitely worth it. Mango lassi was also real good! Glad we gave it a shot

Great place for authentic Bangladeshi food. My wife & I enjoyed Polao, Ruhi fish, Chicken Roast etc. Delicious food & great service.

We used to order Purnima every week and were in love with it. Over time, they have started putting less and less meat into the big containers with sauce. Despite this, they charge more per entree than any other Indian place in our area that all give larger portions. Attached is a picture of my butter chicken from today which I paid $20 for. My hand for scale. Typically with Indian delivery I can get 2-3 meals from it. This wasn’t even enough for one meal. Maybe a kids meal… my wife got a paneer dish and had maybe 3 or 4 cubes in it. It’s crazy! The food tastes pretty good, but the owner is straight-up ripping customers off. There are way better restaurants that cost less for more and better food. Avoid Purnima until they deserve your money - they don’t now.

Nestled in the bustling Bangladeshi community that thrives along the Buford Highway in Atlanta's suburbs, Purnima Bangladeshi Cuisine stands as a bastion of culinary excellence. The establishment's strategic location belies an ease of access that is both admirable and conducive to frequent patronage. Upon entry, one is immediately struck by the exceptional nature of the staff—an assemblage of individuals whose alacrity and professionalism are matched only by their amicability. The culinary offerings are, in a word, transcendent. Each dish is a masterstroke of gastronomic artistry, with the goat vindaloo ascending to the heights of epicurean delight. The interplay of spices and the tenderness of the meat are executed with a finesse that leaves an indelible mark on the discerning palate. In summation, Purnima Bangladeshi Cuisine is not merely a dining establishment; it is a veritable temple of taste and hospitality. I most emphatically recommend it to anyone in search of an unparalleled dining experience.

I had an outstanding dining experience! The food was superb(little spicy for me), the service was excellent, and they even offered complimentary Finni and Pakora. The Finni is a definite must-try – it's incredibly delicious. I highly recommend this place for a delightful culinary adventure of Bengali food!

We went for dinner tonight . Our server was Biddut brother . He was such a nice gentleman. I read a lot of reviews abt the food being over priced . Let me tell you it was well worth it for us. The quality and quantity was very good . Don’t read the negative reviews . You must give this place a try.

I went in today to have lunch by myself and the gentleman that was serving me was so professional, kind, and attentive with a smile on his face throughout the whole meal. I am Indian but I really don’t know much about Bangladeshi food so I asked questions and he was more than happy to answer. He made the meal as great as it was! I got an order of their goat Halim and ruhi fish curry with porotha as recommended by him. The goat halim was the BEST halim I have had in quite a while. It is not thick like Indian/pakistani but more of a soup and it was amazingly spiced. It was so good, that I ordered another bowl to-go. The porotha was delicious with the halim and fish and a great recommendation! The fish was really good too, and to my surprise, definitely tastes much better with rice rather than bread. The service was great, and this restaurant seems like they are eager to please their customers with their hospitality and delicious food. I will be back to try more dishes! I highly recommend this restaurant!

Google
Dined there this week with the wife. Server very good. Food excellent. Had two different appetizers and some sort of curry chicken and a beef dish. Also two different naan breads. Everything served piping hot right out of the hopper. Rice pudding for dessert on the house. This place is not fancy but the food and service sure are good. No alcoholic beverages served here. So bring your own beer or wine if you want that with your meal.

Yelp
I don't want to offend Bangladeshi or Indian people, but you've got to try this place if you like or are interested in Indian food. Their cuisine seems familiar to my ignorant experience, and everything I tried was fantastic. Great food, great service, friendly staff, and I will come back again.

Yelp
Lovely first experience at Purnima. I had the vegetable shingara to start. The filling was very mild. Pastry exterior was delicious and of course the chutneys complement the app perfectly. They are very similar to samosas I've had at other spots. I chose the chana begoon as my main. They only have three spice levels. I ordered hot and it delivered. The spice was very evident but didn't overwhelm the other flavors. I love the eggplant and chickpea combo texture-wise. The aromatics rly come through in this dish. I've never had a garlic naan I didn't like. The naan here is lovely and flaky (not stretchy like some I've had previously). It's buttery and almost had a subtle sweetness that I found very pleasant. Our server was kind and patient. My friends and I talked for hours and never felt rushed or hovered over. I'll definitely be back.

Yelp
I LOVE them and been coming for YEARS. I love everything about them. This is my comfort food. My craving food, the place I go to celebrate. We have to save them! I just found out they are CLOSED til further notice. This is a community favorite! Purnima Bangladeshi cannot close. Let's spread the word to help them reopen!

Yelp
I cannot say enough wonderful things about this restaurant- the service was amazing, the food was so delicious I have dreamed out it and looked for recipes (I don't live in the area and now want this all the time!), and the overall experience was delightful! I went with my daughter and a friend of hers. We shared garlic naan which was a huge portion. She had the chicken tandoori, her friend had the lam coconut and the soup, and I had the lamb saag poneer which was extraordinary! We also shared the chicken tikka naan which was good, but the garlic naan was better.

Yelp
Restaurant is closed until further notice. I went by there today, and there was a notice on the door.

Yelp
The food here is delicious. Everything I have eaten here tastes like liquid gold. I highly recommend the lamb korma. The mango lassi is also divine! I also recommend dining in. The service is amazing, staff is friendly and helpful, they will adjust the spice level of dishes if you need and they will make recommendations. The restaurant is pretty but usually relatively quiet- I think a lot of people do takeout but I cannot emphasize enough the quality of service here! It is absolutely worth going and dining in. I can't explain the atmosphere but it kind of seems like the type of place that would be in a James Bond movie? Sort of mysterious? I don't know how else to put it. I mean that in a good way!

Yelp
I had high hopes for this place as it was recommended to me by someone. The chicken tikka masala was much sweeter than previous places I have had it. The flavor was off from the typical savory flavor I'm used to when ordering tikka masala. The samosa appetizer was great and the garlic naan was ok. Service was good but the ambiance of the actual restaurant was unusual in my opinion.

Yelp
I really like this place. I love the service, the little added touches and of course the food. Tonight we had chicken shingara, chicken tikka, and the wings. All were excellent! Hubby got a mulligatawny soup which I said no to bc I haven't really liked it in the past. With his bowl the waiter brought 2 small silver bowls and spoons (ex of little touches) and since he brought them hubby gave me a taste. Wow!!! Besides wow I'll just say that we ordered one to go it was so good! I'll drive across town just for that. Go to this place. FYI Not sure if you can bring your own but there is no alcohol served here. Oh! They also served a complimentary dessert which was lovely and a nice treat and the perfect way to round out the meal.

Yelp
Service: 5/5. Both waiters were attentive to our requests. Thank you for suggesting Chicken Tikka (It becomes one of my favorite dishes) Food: 4/5 -Garlic Naan (5/5): There's nothing to complain about Naan. It was soft and a little bit sweet (possibly because of garlic flavor). Perfect to eat with almost all dishes. Definitely choose one of naans if it is your first time here. ~$5.00 - Chicken Tikka Moshol la (4/5): It was a little too sweet for me. It would be better if we chose spicy (but my bf cannot eat spicy ). Chicken was tender and flavorful (not dry at all ). Look similar to butter chicken. ~16.00 - Lamb Tondoori (4/5): Lamb was dry (two of pieces are hard like rock) but still tasty. ~$18.00 - Rice and sauce: I liked the green sauce better than the red sauce (I don't know what they are called ). Overall experience (10/10): It was our first time trying Bangladesh food and we were surprised how delicious the foods were. Thank you. I'll be back with my family and friends.

Yelp
One of our favorite Bangladeshi restaurants for dine in or takeout. Friendly staff and great service. If you like it hot then this is the place to go! As they can make the heat level to your liking! Their chili pepper naan was spicy !! Great flavorful food. The Beef Halim with four different kinds of lentils and shredded beef was so delish!

Yelp
There are restaurants you visit where you have a great dining experience - the food is excellent, and the customer service and ambiance are on point. Then there are restaurants you go to where you are completely blown away by how tasty the food is, how the staff treats you as if you are family, and you go back there the next day to make sure that your first day's experience wasn't an anomaly. Purnima is that place. A smallish restaurant in an unassuming strip mall, Purnima offers some of the best Bangladeshi dishes I have had outside of Bangladesh. To top that, their customer service alone is worthy of a five-star Yelp review. While visiting Atlanta, my family and I went there one night and came away so impressed that we decided to go back there the next day. All the dishes we tried over those 2 meals - Chicken Roast, Beef Tehari (special), Beef Mezbaan (special), Morog Polao (chicken with rice), Saag Paneer, Chicken Tikka Masala, Paratha, Garlic Naan, Vegetable Pakora, Firni (rice pudding), and the tea were so good that I could eat them everyday (my doctor would not recommend this). The chicken roast will change your life, and the beef tehari is as good as the best teharis I had in Old Dhaka. Do call ahead for the specials because they change daily. While the food is amazing, it is only second to the level of care we received from this restaurant's staff. Mr. Asad is the Manager here, and he is so caring and hands on that I initially mistook him for the owner. His support staff is just as kind and competent. If you are a Desi, or if you have ever visited a Desi friend's home, you will know what I mean here - the staff at Purnima will treat you like you are visiting their home. They will engage with you at a personal level. They will engage with your shy child, remember them the next day, and then give them a little extra dessert. I will consider going back to Atlanta just so I can experience a meal (or 10) at Purnima. The place is this good and the staff is that caring. If you are ever in the area, do give this local business a try - they will love you for it, and you can thank me later.

Yelp
Such great service!! Karim was our server and he took great care of us. Food was good as well! Probably the best naan bread I've had.

Yelp
We've been here before the pandemic and we liked it then as well as we like it now. We arrived this time right at opening, 11 am or so, and there wasn't anyone there yet. We ordered WAY too much food that was absolutely amazing but then I got a call that my car in the shop was finished so we had to eat and go, unfortunately. The chicken 65 is the best I've ever had, the vegetable shingara ( think of a great samosa type thing if you're familiar with them) was amazing, lamb vindaloo was perfect and the channa/eggplant dish was amazing as well. They also were very sweet and gave us a serving of the best rice pudding I've ever had. We can't wait to go back! The food and hospitality were fantastic!

Yelp
Came in tonight for a quick meal before a show having never been before. The staff was enormously helpful in getting us in and out quickly. The owner came out to speak with us when our entrees arrived and was incredibly charming and pleasant. My girlfriend (not much of an Indian eater) had been planning to skip the meal but was lured in by the smell and neither of us was disappointed. The korma was excellent, and I suspect blood will be shed deciding who gets the leftover beef halim. I would recommend to anyone, and I hope I'll be back soon!

Yelp
My friend David recommend that we dine here for a Sunday dinner. It's directly on Buford Highway in Chamblee near the PDK airport. Parking was easy however the lot is shared with other businesses and there was trash blowing around the pavement as well as trash stuck in the bushes and landscaping. The restaurant is super charming and I loved the decor. We had a booth that was spacious. Free standing tables are available in the center of the dining area for larger groups. We love Bangladeshi food and we found the menu to have plenty of options for carnivores as well as pescatarian and vegan patrons. Service was friendly however some staff are a little difficult to understand with minor language barriers so we pointed at the specific menu items that we wanted and it all worked out. They serve complimentary bottled water. A nice touch but I personally would prefer that they install a quality water filter and serve tap water in order to stop single serve plastic waste. All of the food was outstanding. The assortment of naan breads were hot and fresh. My Chana Moshala vegetarian chickpeas in sauce were amazing. David said that his chicken tikka was equally delicious. The pakora appetizers were filled with flavorful potatoes and spices and the tamarind and mint sauces were excellent. Prices are a great value for the quality and quantity. Our check was brought to our table with authentic tamarind candy from Bangladesh. They were delicious! We highly recommend this place!!

Yelp
I think I'm missing something. My friends happened to order it on some delivery app the same night we dined in. (They did field a lot of delivery pickups during our visit.) All of my other trusty Yelp friends seems to enjoy it. Our visit came on the recommendation of my SIL. Maybe I lack knowledge for what differentiates Bengal cuisine against Indian cuisine? And maybe that's why it didn't hit for me. The menu is very recognizable if you're familiar with Indian food. But don't let that be your measuring stick. The flavors were less interesting to me. Perhaps leaning on the sweet side. I went with the mixed tandoori platter. The portion was small and pricey (imo) for what was served. Perhaps my water bottle was already factored into the pricing? Service. I lean heavily on the experience. It felt as though we were being served by someone brand new. I notice little things like when a server doesn't remember orders. I used to serve tables and wasn't allowed a notepad at the table. My fork, as I sat at the table, was not clean even though the table had been set. It all just lacked warmth for me. If I give it a next time, it'll probably be a delivery app thing when I'm lounging at our friends' place.

Yelp
the best food and service i've had in Atlanta by far amazing food, service and homey ambiance will be returning!!

Yelp
3.5 stars! As soon as you walk in, you're welcomed with the aromas of all the different spices used in the dishes. There are booths and a large family style table for seating. Everyone was super nice. My husband and I shared quite a few things: the entrees all come with a bottled water and rice to share - Mixed naan ($4.99): naan bread baked in Tandoori oven with fresh chopped onion, minced garlic and cilantro. All the ingredients were on the inside of the naan which I thought was interesting. It was a bit thicker than I thought it would be. - Garlic naan ($3.99): topped with fresh minced garlic and cilantro. Preferred this over the mixed naan. - Mint chutney ($1.99): chopped fresh mint leaves, cilantro, fresh lime juice, and green chili. Blended with yogurt. VERY good. I was dipping my naan in this and adding it to my rice and other entrees. So addicting! - Mango lassi ($4): a bit saltier than I thought it would be, it's my first time trying this so not sure how it's supposed to taste! - Beef Vindaloo ($15.99): prepared with cubed potatoes in a spicy turmeric sauce with a touch of fresh lemon juice-vinegar mix. I thought this was excellent. Savory and well balanced. I think I could turn up the spiciness next time - Chicken shaag ponir ($14.99): prepared with chopped spinach in a light cream sauce with cubed cheese. We got this at a spice level of spicy (mild, medium, spicy, very spicy) and it wasn't spicy at all! It was actually really sweet (a bit too sweet for my personal palette). I think they tend to go a little sweeter on dishes like the shaag ponir and the butter chicken. The vindaloo and mint chutney are excellent, will have to try the tandoori next.

Yelp
Wow, another awesome find from Yelp! After indulging in some goodies from Curry Up Now recently in Alpharetta, I was craving more Indian food but wanted something a little closer to me. I found this place with excellent ratings and decided to put in a GrubHub order. I have never tried Bangladeshi cuisine before and have only limited experiences with Indian food, so I was looking forward to it. I stuck with some items that looked familiar to me: I tried the mixed naan, vegetable shingara (basically samosas but with a thinner crust according to Google), Shaag Ponir (similar to Palak Paneer but apparently any kind of greens can be used whereas Palak is just spinach inside and this is also creamed), and my order came with the usual sauces you'd find with samosas and basmati rice on the side. I ordered extra tamarind chutney as it's usually a favorite of mine. Everything was so comforting and delicious! I love creamed spinach as it is, but with the Indian style spices and paneer, the Shaag Ponir dish was extra tasty! The mixed naan was excellent as well with a good amount of cheese, onion, garlic, and seasoning. The taste reminded me slightly of Korean veggie/onion pancakes but with thicker, softer texture and the added cheese of course. The shingara tasted very much like samosas with the slight difference in crust - another great choice! I had no issues ordering through GrubHub or picking up, the service team was super friendly and remembered to ask if I needed plates or utensils, portions were generous, prices were reasonable, and food was definitely five stars. I can't wait to order from them again soon and encourage you to do so too if you haven't yet.

Yelp
Delicious food and great attentive service! The waitress helped us pick out what to get since it was our first time in and the goat halim she recommended was amazing! The restaurant may appear to be pretty empty when you walk in, but have no fear, we noticed a ton of takeout orders being picked up. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
Vegetable pakora, chicken tikka masala, butter chicken and garlic naan are other worldly. Rice pudding is divine.

Yelp
Excellent Bangladeshi food. Well prepared, subtle without flaming spices. Good service, too.

Yelp
Just ordered takeout from Purnima and all I can say is WOW. This was the most delicious Bangladeshi I've had in so long, we couldn't stop mm mm mming. We got the lamb vindaloo and the lamb tikka and both were literally amazing, with the lamb tikka being my personal fave. The vindaloo was still incredible but keep in mind it is very spicy, so not for the faint of heat. The restaurant delivered the food themselves and the driver was so kind with the handoff. They gave us complimentary naan and rice pudding which were also very delicious. Adding this to our fave restaurants rotation and hoping we can dine in one of these days for the full experience!

Yelp
High quality, exquisite, and a delightful dining experience. We really like this place and consider it one of our favorites for all things 'Indian / South Asian / Bangladeshi' Ordered - Goat Curry (5/5). Amazing. The curry is not oily, has the right amount of heat, and goes well with that basmati rice - Lamb Biryani (5/5). Tasty and packs a 1, 2 punch. It is definitely spicy so be prepared for that - Samosas (4/5). Remembered it to be good We can't wait to explore more of the menu ~

Nikki C.

Yelp
Lamb Vindaloo is delicious. Food and service is consistently great. This is my go to spot for a quick dinner or take out.

Yelp
I really dig this spot I've been coming here for close to 5 years now. I think Purnima has the most tender goat out there I'm not sure what the secret is but it's been incredible in all the curry's I've ordered as well as the biryani. On this particular visit I got the goat curry, garlic naan and chicken tikka mashola. I had asked for medium heat on the goat curry and as always it was delivered. The chicken tikka was a bit sweet but still delicious. The garlic naan was fresh flavorful and delicious. The one thing that kind of irks me about this spot is that they do bottle waters instead of tap. I think my first time here I had asked for tap and they said they don't have tap lol. I haven't asked since but from a sustainability perspective I wish curbed the single use plastic. This is in the same shopping plaza as pho 24. It's convenient if you're in the Buckhead, Brookhaven, Chamblee, doraville, etc parts of town. It's also available on Uber and door dash.
google avatar

Erin S.

Yelp
This review is for takeout only. Staff is wearing masks. They are allowing dine-in, but socially distanced. We got: - Chicken Shingara ($4.50 for 2): very good, fried and crispy - Chicken Korma ($14.95): not very much flavor, chicken was kind of dry; wouldn't get again - Ponir Tikka Moshol-la ($14.95): very good, lots of flavor - Naan ($2.50): good Overall, it was pretty good, but in my opinion, there is better Bangladeshi in the area.
google avatar

Stephanie G.

Yelp
This restaurant is tucked away on Buford Highway (located in the same complex as Pho 24) and boy was I glad to have found it! I wanted to try something new besides our typical Vietnamese and Chinese food runs in Chamblee. We were greeted by a staff who ended up taking our order. He was very friendly and checked in on us often. They provide bottled water that is included with your meal instead is providing tap water. We ordered the Chicken 65 - marinated really well and deep fried to perfection; thought I thought it was kind of pricey since it was a small serving but good for 2 to share, chapati - my first time trying because I try to eat whole wheat foods and it was basically like a toasted tortilla that I used to scoop up my Chana begoon. Their chana begoon was so good and was super filling and filled with chickpeas, it had a slight spice but it was tolerable and delicious nonetheless. We also ordered the lamb biriyani and the lamb itself was packed with flavor and tender. I personally am not a fan of basmati rice so I didn't eat much of it but our overall experience here was awesome. They even gave us cute tamarind candies at the end and it was a perfect ending to a great meal.

Yelp
Ordered food delivery. Arrived an hour late, no communication from the restaurant, would not recommend!

Yelp
I've never had Bangladeshi food before, so this review is more of a comparison to what I expected for Indian cuisine. I placed a to-go order and the food was ready really quickly. What I liked most was the mango lassi and potato samosa. I can't handle spicy food so I can't comment on the vindaloo but my bf enjoyed it. I was really disappointed with the chicken tikka masala. The sauce was way too sweet, kind of reminiscent of Chinese sweet and sour sauce. You can see the artificial looking color in the photo. We also had the spinach paneer which was not the best I'd ever had but still tasty. So all in all id have to rate this a 3. Will probably try other Indian options in the area next time.
google avatar

Yasmine C.

Yelp
Tried Purnima for the first time the other night and can't recommend it enough! I got the lamb tikka masala and I'm already craving it all over again. The sauce was so delicious and the lamb was wonderful. Service was amazing, we got take out but the restaurant itself delivered and they added a complimentary rice pudding. Thank you, Purnima! The rice pudding was absolutely delicious.

Kathy S.

Yelp
Amazing food but even more amazing service. We had a couple appetizers - chicken 65, vegetable pakoras- delicious! We shared entrees too so we could try more. We had butter chicken, chicken korma and chicken biryani. Spice level is good- medium has a good bit of heat! Bottled water is delivered to the table immediately. I tried the chai too- yum! Garlic naan is hot and crisp. Service, again, I will say is impeccable! Several staff people checked on us and helped to make sure our meal was perfect. Don't be turned off by the empty dining room- we watched lots of take out going- but I encourage you to eat in! You'll be waited on like long lost family.

Yelp
I have to admit that I am unable to tolerate spices with red pepper as the base. That being said it's difficult to find a restaurant that will cater to my issue. That's where Purnima comes into the picture as one of the few restaurants that can meet my needs and those who love a super spicy dish. We have visited multiple times and they consistently turn out great food. The service is also amazing which adds to the enjoyment of eating at Purnima. PS my wife and I are plant based eaters and they also check that box for those interested in plant based or vegan food.

Yelp
I've been to Purnima a few times already but I haven't had it in quite a while until today. I ordered for pick up through a food delivery app and the process was very efficient. They pack the food very nicely so that it doesn't spill in the car. I ordered chicken tikka masala, goat curry, shaag bhaji, and goat biriyani (all medium spice level). I would say the spice level was just right for the average person. The food had very nice flavor. Chicken tikka masala is on the sweeter side but I kind of like it that way. The only thing I will critique is that the goat in general is boney and you don't get a lot of meat. There are few seating areas at this establishment so ordering take out is a great option.

Yelp
We just got takeout but the food was all delicious. Tried the chicken biryani and it was flavorful. Garlic naan was packed with sooo much garlic and flavor (some places just sprinkle it on). I'm OBSESSED with the cheese naan here, it's so fluffy and the cheese is so well-incorporated.

Yelp
I was so excited to eat here tonight. Never any issues in the past. However tonight as soon as I opened my shrimp tikka masala, there was a hair in it! Right on top. I don't know if they don't wear gloves or hair nets back there but it was so disgusting that I threw away everything else too just in case there were more hairs. Absolutely not. It ruined my appetite and experience. I don't know if I can ever come here again and not be reminded of the hair in my food

Yelp
Some of the best tasting food I've ever had has been from this restaurant. The staff are always very nice, and the food is delicious!! I recommend the goat korma, it's hearty and fragrant. I love that they're open so late, i come after work or a fun night out and it's always yummy.

Yelp
Great food, even better customer service. Really enjoyed our waiter Karem. Great dining experience!

Yelp
We used to love this place. But recently we have ordered to go three times and asked for our dishes mild. Called and checked that would be mild. Our kids don't eat spicy food. And all three times it came spicy. They used to get this right but now it seems they can't. Maybe it's a new chef that has a different view of what is mild. Either way I think we have to give up and find a new place.

Yelp
Excellent food and service! So glad they are open for lunch on the weekends! Recommend a halim (stew) to start and follow with any curry or entree. Everything is flavorful without being salty. Bottled water is free and brought to the table without asking. Enjoy! Oh - tablecloths make it fairly upscale.

Yelp
By far the best Bangladeshi food in Atlanta! I am there every week! The shrimp shag ponir, vegetable biriyani, garlic naan is to die for

Yelp
Unfortunately, I'm not a great cook like my mom and the only time I have had Bengali food since I moved to Atlanta years ago is when I am back home in the Midwest. Thankfully, I found Purnima! The Chicken Tikka Moshol-la is rich in flavor, and the goat curry is soft and flavorful. I am also a fan of the customer service here. I highly recommend this place!

Yelp
I am a regular customer of this restaurant. I ordered food for "dine in". I was given a styrofoam, coffee cup for my cold beverage. I asked the waiter for a glass for my beverage and he acted like he did not know what I was talking about. He told me he did not know what I was talking about. I pointed to another table with drinking glasses and I said a glass and he did not respond appropriately. I asked a second time for a glass and he did not give me a glass. He was very rude and unprofessional. This was the older waiter and not the younger waiter. Be prepared when you visit Purnima that you will get good food but poor service. However, on another occasion, I ordered "to go" food and I was given very rotten cauliflower. It was sour and very rancid. When they prepared the dish, the rotten cauliflower was used and it should have been thrown away. I called them and let them know and I was given another cauliflower dish at my next visit. It is disappointing to know that this good restaurant has bad service with rude staff.

Yelp
The type of cuisine served here is Bengali, which, if you're unfamiliar, is like any other Indian cuisine, but not in the same way you might think. It's something that you'd have to try to really understand the flavors. Traditional Bangladeshi fare is served at this family-run eatery with a brightly-painted interior. Located not far from CDC Chamblee campus. This restaurant is 25 minutes travel from Lindbergh station (Marta Bus 39). Parking is free in front of the restaurant. The restaurant is located in a small plaza, next to Pho 24. 7 booths on the walls and two tables in the middle with 14 seats. Dim lighting and cozy atmosphere, good music and small TV's with Indian music videos playing. Loved the Haleem with Parota and Morog Polao rice. The Daal and Fish Curry were excellent. Curry had a little mix of sweet and spicy flavor and it was very delicious. The dessert Firni was very good, but Lalmohon was okay too. I like the sweet doughballs warmer. All of their entrees come with rice, but you'll have to order Naan bread on the side. Chicken was moist and very well seasoned. The spiced iced tea was delicious. I would suggest one thing and that is they should put more goat in their Goat Haleem recipe but still it is very good. I absolutely love the food here and the service is excellent. Portions are generous and the Environment is clean and nice. Everyone is very well spoken and helpful. Staff is wearing masks. They are allowing dine-in, but socially distanced is maintained. I recommend everyone to broaden their taste palette and try different dishes from here. I'm definitely coming back soon.

Yelp
I'm a huge fan of the service here. They are so friendly, welcoming and sweet. I don't think you'll get better service anywhere else. He treats every customer as if they're a guest his own home. I did find the chicken tikka to be extremely sweet. I don't mind a little sweetness. I was just a bit too much. We got a flavored naan -which we did not enjoy very much but the regular naan-was delicious. The vegetarian dishes were a little bland. A little water down for our taste. The inside is very clean. The samosas were delicious. Overall, it's a wonderful experience because he is very nice and the service is great. The food however in my opinion, is very average. Maybe we got the wrong thing because I hear there biryani is great and we didn't get that. I'll probably give it another try later in!

Yelp
A restaurant to try a very authentic Bangladeshi cuisine. The Pomfret fish is a must try! I second the Goat Halim and Chicken Roast. Will definitely go back again!
