We love this place. The food is delicious, the staff is so friendly and the location is convenient. As the name states, this restaurant is “grab & go”. Don’t expect to be waited on but you can ask for recommendations from the friendly owners. They are so kind and quick to make sure you leave happy. ☺️ In fact, they remembered us from our last visit about 6 months ago; they were genuinely gracious and happy to see us. Made our day as we had just stopped in after a lengthy medical treatment. This time we ordered the spicy chicken stew, gimbap, bulgogi rice bowl, and ube rice crispy treats. Everything was delicious but my favorites - the gimbap and rice crispy treats (I could eat those over and over again). 😉 We can’t wait to return next time we’re in N Austin. Truly a gem.

This little sandwich just changed my life!! I’m not sure what it was, UBE i assume but it’s delicious :) i reheated all the food at home and the kimbap is the best I’ve had in Austin. The little owners were super smiley! No doubt I’ll return for the sandwich and kimbap.

Everything was delicious and fresh! I had the beef gimbad. I can say it was so goood. To pair with it I had the Kimchi cucumber. So refreshing each bite. 10/10 would recommend. The staff were very friendly and inviting.

Everything is sooooo delicious and fresh. Love the grab and go style. The owners are SO sweet. I’ll be back often! I love all the drink options

The marinated eggs are great! Half of mine were soft-boiled, the other two were medium-boiled. I prefer the soft. The beef bulgogi bibimbap was good, sauce was good. Smart decision to keep them separate (veggies in fridge, meat in warmer). It didn’t taste right off the grill, but it was great for a warmer. The shop is cute and I love the variety of options. The staff is friendly. I’ve been back a second time this week, and I’ll keep it in my routine.

I absolutely adore this place! Every Korean dish is so beautifully prepared and bursting with flavor. Omg!! there’s even a brand new ramen machine! Pair it with the kimbap and you’ll swear you’ve been transported straight to Korea. straight vibes from Seoul! ✨🍜🍙

Stopped by purple rice around 1:30 PM and it looks like they had a busy day so there was only a few dishes left, but I was still able to get a variety of things. I talked to the owner and they do cook twice a day to replenish their stock. They mainly do this to keep their foods fresh and high-quality. I tried the bibimbap, kimbap, chicken stew, beef bone soup, and a variety of their banchan. They make everything in house, including all of the sauces. The prices are pretty reasonable too. They are located in a plaza so there’s plenty of parking. This is considered a grab and go concept, but they do have a few tables inside where you can eat as well. And especially liked bibimbap, Kimbap, and banchan.

Talk about a hidden spot. This a good place to go if you spent too much of your lunch break at the Five Below store and need something quick. When you walk in, you're greeted with a cool DIY Ramen making station if you desire. To the left you've got cold items and to the right you've got pre-made hot items to go. There were so many unique yummy items that were calling out to me - but I had to turn them down, can't get them all. I feel like maybe the time of day I was there, there were less items on the shelves than in the pictures online. But for sure was able to find something to hit the spot. I picked the beef bimbimbop which was so nice. Protein, carbs, and fresh veggies. Wham bam thank you m'am. It was nice and refreshing and I feel still healthy. The meal was nice and pure if that makes sense. It wasn't a dish full of heavy sauces or oil. Just...ingredients. They even have a couple of tables up front where you can quickly eat before you have to jet back to work - or you can just grab and go (hence their name lol ;))

Yelp
Purple Rice is our favorite! The Quality of the food, the variety, and the convenience. This is a weekly request at our house. The Owners are absolutely lovely and the food is always fresh. It's Super clean and organized- more restaurants need to meet their standard. This is a hidden gem that more people should know about. We haven't had a huge variety of Korean food so it's always lovely with the Dosirak getting to try new things! So happy Purple Rice is in Austin. If you're looking for a fresh, hot and healthy meal- you're in the right place Sorry no pictures, we ate it all.

Yelp
Been wanting to review this place. Went to their soft opening and got a ton of stuff and was so excited to try them all! Everything looked so good and we wanted to sample everything! Love how cute this place is! Love how it's so thematic purple! Love the location as well. Love how it's clean and spacious. It's near us well near to work at Domain. Across from Mighty Fine and Chipotle and right off Mopac too! So convenient. Especially for grab and go concept. We even did a little picnic outside where there are tables by the parking lot. So fun! Ok the food ahh where do I begin? Love the kimbap! One of the best I've had. Love how full they are. Everything we got tasted homemade and fresh. I bought a few for our college son and his roomie and girlfriend too. It's perfect for college kids. Easy to heat up. It's great for working people too. Grab and go! The beef rice bowls and bulgogi were all delicious. Everyone loved the spicy pork bento as well. We do favor the ube Rice Krispies lol so good! The sides were all pretty yummy as well. Just love how fresh everything is. And everything is reasonably priced as well especially since it shows they put so much love and care into each dish. And it's just so convenient. If you want a home cooked meal but don't feel like cooking that night. Hope they do well because the owners are the nicest people too! So kind and sweet. So helpful as well. Solid people and yummy Korean homey comfort food. Can't go wrong!

Yelp
Seems like a solid place and super convenient if you work in the area for a quick bite. I grabbed some chicken dosirak ($14) after a gym session so I could have lunch the next day and it was pretty tasty! This is a grab and go spot and they've got some decent options. It was a bit slim pickings when I went late last night but still managed to get some goodies. If you're a vegetarian/vegan, I'm sorry to say I didn't see much you could eat here. It is a bit pricier than what you'd get from a grocery store but you are paying for ready to eat goods. They had some samples for their ube Rice Krispies and Korean tuna pasta salad. The tuna pasta salad was tasty and would be great for a lighter lunch with some crackers or a bag of Korean chips. The cashier was friendly and the place was clean! I think this is a nice addition to the Austin area.

Yelp
Clean, fresh and organized! Tried kimbap, radish kimchi and Tteok-bokki - all three items were super yummy.

Yelp
A lovely local mom and pop store to pop in and get my Korean comfort eats like I'm going to a family friend's place when I'm in the area! I love the bento assortment and the banchan sides that are readily available for purchase and consumption! The purple rice in our hot warm rice bowls were tasty, and the spicy pork bento was delicious. I also really loved the pickled beets - and look forward to trying the kimbap next time. Friendly faces and even friendlier service, look for the samples of the Rice Krispies, and pick up a box next time! The taro and pumpkin spice were offered in store and we left with a good deal of food! A few tables are also available inside if you want to dine in for an easy place to eat! Yay!

Yelp
So glad to hear of another Korean restaurant opening in Austin and it was a fair bit closer to me than any of its competitors. I showed up today as part of their soft open and have to say that I'm tentatively impressed. It's primarily grab-n-go as you can tell from the photos, a lot of warmers with pre-made soups and dosiraks, which are like Korean lunch bentos, and a cooler with drinks and and takeaway soups. Everything was in a purple and white color scheme which made me think kawaii and they even had merch ready. In the immediate center was a little dessert table with samples of their Ube rice krispie treat and their Pumpkin Spice rice krispie treat, both of which were tasty, but they came in a tray and not individually wrapped. Behind that were a couple of different stations with induction burners but that was closed off. I ended up getting their ready made yukgaejang and their brisket doenjang and two little dishes of the eponymous rice. I liked the yukgaejang bettter, it was clean but still had that heartiness. The owner came by and chatted a little bit, she was just as kawaii as her store. She explained the stations are for cooking demos and classes but she didn't want to do that on the first day since she was so nervous. She definitely fit the vibe of the place: warm, friendly and open. She came back with a couple of small banchans when I decided to use one of their two tables to stay and eat. Glad they're here!

Yelp
White rice? Jasmin rice? No. PURPLE RICE is where it's at!! This spot is fantastic! The concept of grab and go Korean dishes is amazing and convenient. So many side options as well to go with your main dish and of course my all time fav, JOLLYPONG! The options are limitless and can rotate from what I remember the owner saying. We randomly came here during some shopping in the area on their opening day and we did get here a little later in the day so most of the options had run out but that was no issue as we still got to try some really great options. Their side options are plenty and you may go crazy picking them from the fridges. The staff was super friendly and the owner seemed just as excited for it as we were. I'll definitely be back to try the bibimbap and other options but man, so glad to have this concept in our city. Very spacious to eat there as well if you're not in a rush to go and the layout is easy to navigate through as well even if it were to be crowded. I highly recommend Purple rice! 5/5

Yelp
The website said they were closed but the ordering was open, so I gave them a call to check. The man who answered was super nice and was surprised to hear it said they were closed. (He got the site updated quickly so the hours should be correct now) The food was really good and he was also super nice when we were there picking it up. I will definitely be back!

Yelp
I really enjoyed this Korean grab and go restaurant! The owners were extremely welcoming and gave us some Rice Krispie ube and pumpkin spice treats to go with our meals.. there are hot and cold stations where you choose- I got a traditional bibimbap from the hot section where they posted a nice note saying remember to get the cold veggies from the cold container. I assembled all my dishes in the restaurant and ate it while chatting with the owners. There were tables inside and out to sit and eat or take yours home. They were still in their soft opening stage- can't wait to come back and see what else has been added! Great experience and nice couple running it!

Yelp
Super convenient and quick place to grab a simple Korean meal! Think a convenience store where you can grab what you want off the walls... now make it Korean, and make it fresh. That's what Purple Rice is. They have a wall of drinks, deserts, veggies, boxes, and rolls all super easily laid out for you to grab. I'll deff be back!

Yelp
I am so happy that we have a great Korean grab and go up North. I came on a Saturday afternoon and the store was empty surprisingly. It was super clean and I appreciated the organization and layout. There was a great selection of items and I was a huge fan of the banchan options. The Korean braised potatoes and potato salad were delicious!! And the tofu pockets were also yummy and I loved that there were different flavor options. On my way out the nice store owner offered me same les of their ube rice Krispy treat and let me take a box home for free. I will definitely be coming back here!

Yelp
My husband brought me back food from here. He brought me Beef bibimbap and pork kimbap. Both were very tasty and they also seemed fresh. The pork ended up being a lot of food so I felt like the value of the meal was pretty good.

Yelp
Great new place to grab Korean doshirak that's perfect for a meal on the go or takeaway to eat at home~ they also have a lot of traditional side dishes and goodies to complement your meal. I tried their spicy pork and chicken doshirak and they were delicious! Purple rice that's included in the meals is an ancient heirloom rice that has a lot more health benefits like antioxidants and protein. It's beautiful to look and just as delicious as regular rice that's even better for you~

Emmeline Z.

Yelp
Really great Korean food for a great price! Had the tbeokki which had great flavor, some heat but not overwhelming. Also had the beef gimbap, perfectly balanced flavors. The ube rice krispy has some fun different kinds of pieces inside, and a mild sweetness! Definitely will come back again

Yelp
This is the spoooooot. Such a convenient and affordable way to get food on the go. The inside is beautiful with a small seating area if you did want to eat there, and everything is organized with a pretty fair variety of foods. I'm vegan and they did have some tofu options, japchae, and these AMAZING sweet and savory potatoes that I 1000% recommend. The people working there were also so kind and helpful since it was my first time. Ontop of that, prices were of great value- about $8 for a large japchae bowl. And $5 for an extra side of their sweet and savory potatoes. I will absolutely be returning here and will tell as many people as I can about this space.

Yelp
Everything was tasty and at an affordable price. We got the salmon bowl and the purple rice and rice pudding. My toddler loved the purple rice. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
Ube rice crispy treats?! Take my money!!! Big assortment of Korean snacks, drinks and ready to go food items. Plus service with a smile :) :)

Kim N.

Yelp
Everything there is delicious. I went twice within 2 weeks. I had tried both fish and beef bimbap and they were both very good.

Yelp
I live in LA and was visiting my family in Austin when I stumbled across Purple Rice. I was surprised by how authentic the food was. I got the Beef Bibimbap, Doshirak, and Pork Gimbap, and I could tell it was made with good ingredients. This is a great service for those who don't have time to cook but want a healthy and satisfying meal. Support this small family-owned business!

Yelp
I come here all the time with my boyfriend. We love Korean food and we're really excited to get a new grab and go restaurant in our area since we work from home. We came to try Purple Rice in the first few days they opened and were not disappointed. The setup is clean and new, with a really cool grocery area, cold area for banchan, kimchis, and broths and a hot isle for bibimbaps, hot egg soups (YUM), dosiraks, and other hot offerings like spicy brisket soups and tteokbokki. Number one, the food is seriously good. I am slowly making my way to try every dish that they offer lol. My favorites so far are the bibimbap of course, and the yukjaejang soup (spicy brisket stew). Soooo good. I also am a huge pickle and kimchi fan so I am always trying their assortment of house kimchis and banchan. If you're into Korean food, or just tasty food in general, Purple Rice is a very easy spot to become a regular at. The staff are always so kind and they are happy to assist with anything you need as a customer. The food feels nutritious and healthy and you can even get some yummy desserts here too. Definitely worth coming by here to check it out!

Yelp
I haven't left a review in a while, but I feel like this place deserves my praise. My daughter and I went in last night to grab dinner and it did not disappoint. She said it was the best bulgogi she's ever had. I had the tofu bibimbap and it was super tasty! Not only was the food good, the owner was super nice. My daughter is already asking when we can go back!

Yelp
Have been searching for a place like this since moving to Austin from California. Food is excellent, easy to pick up, only place in Austin with purple rice. Highly recommend

Jason M.

Yelp
Definitely going back to Purple Rice! The meals are made fresh and cooked daily. It's perfect for when you're on the go but still want something homemade and nutritious or just lazy like me and want an easy in and out to take back home. I had the Bulgogi Dosirak with Ube Rice Crispy and it was delicious! I'm excited to try the other dishes as they looked good too. Highly recommend checking it out!
