"Located just off the main high street, this modern restaurant has a comforting neighbourhood feel – and the service is equally relaxed. Fresh seafood from Cornwall and Scotland is combined with good quality locally sourced ingredients to produce interesting, original dishes with effective contrasts of flavour and texture. The lunch menu represents great value." - Michelin Inspector

We reached a whole new level of indulgence tonight… what an incredible menu! The food was absolutely out of this world. While the ambiance could have been a bit more intimate, the music was great and the overall vibe was inviting and relaxed, not the least bit stuffy. The service team was warm and attentive, though a bit more confidence and finesse in presenting the new menu would elevate the experience even further. A little extra polish from the bartender (particularly around the wine pairings) would also bring it up to the level of a true Michelin experience. That said, everything else was divine. The meal was utterly glorious, and we’ll definitely be back!

We had an amazing meal in lovely surroundings with great service. Yes the taster menu is expensive but it's worth every penny. Truly wonderful flavour and presentation.

We visited this restaurant on Thursday evening. Overall, the food quality was decent , not impressive, but not disappointing either. The menu choices were quite limited. We ordered the stone bass and the Cornish cod. I want to share a reminder for anyone visiting: there was a fish bone about 3-4 cm long in the stone bass, and it injured my friend while eating. I immediately showed the bone to the staff, but they simply took it away quickly without offering any apology or even asking if my friend was okay. It felt as if nothing had happened. I understand that stone bass naturally has bones, I would expect the chef to have the skills to remove them properly, or at the very least, for the staff to warn diners to be careful when serving the dish. When something like this does happen, the minimum I would expect is some concern for the customer’s safety and a simple apology. We did not complain or act rudely at all. We just felt disappointed by the lack of empathy and professionalism in their response. I hope anyone visiting in the future will be careful while eating, and I also hope the restaurant will take diners’ safety and dining experience more seriously.

Great experience, highly recommend a visit. Around £100 per person with wine. Front of house were great, explaining each meal and the service was amazing.

An absolute amazement for tastebuds ! The menu has limited choices in order to provide the best quality of ingredients, the most amazing combinations of tastes, and arrangements on plates looking fabulous. I totally recommend it! The atmosphere is a bit religious, as Purslane is obviously a favourite for couples who speak quietly. Note as a slight minus that service is charged on top as a gratuity that does not seem as discretional as it says, as it is added to the bill. Given the price of the courses, 12% turn out to be a nice sum for waitering a small number of tables. I think I would prefer to give an extra to the kitchen, as it is where the magic happens. But let it not deter you from experiencing a festival of flavours !

Went for the 7 course tasting with wine pairing - and the food was incredible. They accommodated us with a pescetarian tasting menu - switched the meat course for another fish course, which was much appreciated. The wines paired beautifully and you got to experience a lot from different countries. The ‘snacks’ were basically another course and the breads were fresh and warm. Really reasonable for a tasting menu of such high quality! Would definitely recommend!

Lovely little restaurant, really enjoyable experience. Really well presented food in a relaxed but smart environment. Some really tasty 'snacks from the kitchen' prior to the main event. Minor criticism there could have been a bit more fish in the mains and the flavour could have been a bit more intense.

Yelp
Delicious dinner (tasting menu) and frankly the best I have had in Cheltenham. The tasting menu cost £60, with an added £38 per person for wine pairings. This is what me and my hubs had. The dinner started with a bread course - 3 types of bread. Butter was good, just the right amount of saltiness. Also served with taramasalata, which tasted like a cross between roe and smoked salmon. The sourdough was my fave of the breads. Moving on to the amuse bouche - a really large serving! This was trout sashimi and was super delicious. I think it also had beets and another vegetable served with it. The next 2 courses were also seafood - halibut and lobster. The halibut had this really good cucumber sorbet served with it - maybe just a tad to much for the serving, but it was tasty either way. The lobster - I forgot to take a picture it was so good! The final main course was lamb. Normally, I don't really like lamb all that much, but I really liked this dish. The lamb wasn't too gamey in either the steak style or brisket style lamb. There was also sweetbreads served on the side which was perfectly fried. On to the desserts - there was a cheesecake, a chocolate dish, and petit fours to finish. These were all good, but I honestly would have preferred one more savory dish and one less sweet one. Wine pairings were on point for all the dishes. Standout for me was the British wine that was served with the trout I think? The pours were all very generous as well. Overall, great service, great food, great little restaurant. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Was really surprised to find a good restaurant around the area as we mostly passed chain restaurants. The staff were really nice and the environment very comfortable. Now onto the food. It all tasted so nice, we had the sea bass and chicken and for dessert chocolate mousse with ice cream. The ice cream was quite a unique taste so we asked what it was and even the ice cream was actually homemade! The menu deal was quite reasonable price for around £18 for 3 courses. Overall this was a really nice surprise and a restaurant with some amazing food.
