The way I see things, there are two levels of coffee shops I enjoy going to: those that are comfy and, while the coffee is average, serve as a nice third space in the community where I can go to get out of the house and hang out. Then there are those where the coffee is bomb, where Portland coffee lives up to its name -- strangely these are usually ever so slightly less comfy to hang out in, with the decor focused on hipness rather than comfort. Form over function, you might say.
Push X Pull is one of the latter spaces. Beautiful, trendy decor (love the turquoise motif), slightly uncomfortable chairs and benches. But oh the coffee... the coffee is in that upper echelon that gives Portland the reputation it deserves as Coffee City USA.
Every drink I've had has been great, and well prepared by the skilled baristas. Latte art is on point, people. They source and roast their own beans, which are naturally dried. I'm not sure how that affects the flavor, I'm not an expert ok? But it's good. And bougie. Food-wise they have a nice little menu of fresh pressed waffles and breakfast sandwiches on bolo bread; can't go wrong either way. There's also an interesting list of special/seasonal drinks which are all fun to try. My only complaint is here, because in the 2ish years I've been coming to PxP that list has never changed! Minus 1/2 an imaginary star...
Overall, this is a trendy coffee shop and roaster whose espresso drinks are in Portland's top tier.
