I must have passed by here atleast 4-5 times, witnessing the insane lines that accumulate. I was very intrigued prior to it's opening as they are the first local bubble tea place. However, for those that are unfamiliar with bubble tea, do not mistake this location for the more common ones that you may have heard of, because their products are quite unique.
I decided to come here after work with my S/O, around 6pm on a Wednesday night, in hopes that the line would not be so bad. Plus it was pouring rain. Upon arrival, there were 6 people ahead of us, standing outside, as they limit the store to 6 people inside at a time. Even with the rain, people were still lining up, and unfortunately it took us about 25 minutes before being able to physically walk into the store. A worker did come out to apologize and explain that each drink takes about 2-3 minutes to be made. Although I do feel that this is the same amount of time it takes for typical bubble tea drinks at other locations, so they may want to consider different preparation system.
This spot is more of a fusion between typical Taiwanese bubble tea with Indian tea flavors. They offer items such as Chai, Falooda, and more. While there are some of the typical milk based flavors such as taro and brown sugar, or fruit teas like passion fruit, they have a whole section of kulfi milk tea flavors which is very different.
I decided to try their Mango Kulfi Milk Tea with boba and my S/O chose his typical passion fruit green tea with boba. We were pre-warned however that due to the way their boba is prepared (cooked in brown sugar), it comes out hot, thus warming the drink up. So for cold drinks, especially the fruit based ones, more ice is recommended or perhaps not getting boba at all.
I thought this was pretty silly as I normally ask for less ice since it ends up taking up so much space in the cup, thus less drink. While the boba were tastier than I have normally had them due to the way they are prepared, I think they should consider an alternative. To perhaps cool them down before serving.
The prices are pretty steep. I'm being as honest as possible. Typical bubble tea places charge between $3.50-$4.50 for a small, and $5-6 for a large. My small Mango Kulfi Milk Tea was worth $7.50 and my S/O's small Passionfruit green tea was $5.00. Since we had waited so long and in the rain, the worker gave us a discount of $3 off of our order which was very kind.
I liked the Mango Kulfi Milk tea. It was different and tasted almost like a mango lassi. The con was that the boba melted down the kulfi quickly and I feel that the drink got watered down. The Passionfruit green tea was fine, nothing crazy.
Overall I liked my drink. I can't say it was amazing, nor would I want to spend all that time on line again. I'm happy I tried it, but I probably wouldn't return until the craze dies down. I do still love the Taiwanese bubble tea much more.
