Was there on a Sunday night. The restaurant was quite full probably because it was a long weekend. The food was delicious. Everything we ate elicited high praise from the four of us at the table. We had the calamari and octopus and gazpacho as appetizers. The calamari were some of the best we’ve had in a long time, and the portion was generous. The octopus was also delicious, but the portion was lacking in size. My friends opted for the vegetarian paella, but added chorizo and chicken. I had the seafood paella with chicken and chorizo as well. Our other friend ordered the lamb. Everything was very tasty and the portions were generous. Although the service was good,it could have been elevated. When our appetizers arrived, the waiter didn’t know what went to whom. One of my friends was missing a fork and we requested one. But as the evening wore on and they cleared the table, two of us were then missing a fork. At that point, we just took some from the empty table next to us. Also, I had requested a glass of white wine when I received my paella. The waitress brought me a glass of red wine instead. She was gone so fast. I didn’t even have a chance to tell her that I had requested white wine. I flagged her down and she brought me the requested white wine . The best service we received was from the young curly haired bus boy. He was very pleasant, smiley, and professional. He should become a waiter. I had the orange cake with chocolate for dessert, but it was missing the requisite, orange zesty flavor. It was also quite cold as if it had just come out of the fridge. My friends had the Creme brûlée and they enjoyed it.

Absolutely loved our dinner at Pyrénées in Old Montreal! The atmosphere is charming and cozy, perfectly matching the historic vibe of the area. I was especially impressed with the strawberry and goat cheese salad—so fresh and full of flavor. The scallops were perfectly cooked and simply delicious. Service was outstanding—friendly, attentive, and made us feel very welcome. Highly recommend this place if you're looking for a great Spanish dining experience in the heart of the old town!

Google
Food is Spanish European. Flavour was good and portions were a good size. Drinks were tasty. Patio was dog friendly but a bit crowded.

Google
The food was so good that we were surprised that there was no other customers at the time of our visit in the afternoon. Great interior, great food, great staff. We totally demolished the first tray of baguette so we were offered a second tray. We ate too much bread because the dipping sauce was soooo good that I could not even finish half of my paella after😂.

Decided to dine here because of the great reviews, and was very pleased by everything! Very bougie resto and patio option, washroom fully equipped (with feminine hygiene products as well - highly appreciated). The food also bomb 😋 Will definitely dine here again!

Google
Good restaurant. The soup I had was fantastic!. So was the creme brulee dessert. Only the lamb dinner could have been more tender. The service was fine. Nice atmosphere too. Worth a visit, but possibly some dishes are better than others.

Google
What a wonderful culinary experience the service was excellent our waitress Alex was so attentive and helpful. We had exquisite gaspacho, paella 🥘 catalana, orange 🍊 cake with chocolate and a sangria pitcher. Everything was perfect!

Google
Went for valentines and the food is spectacular. We have the seafood platter and absolutely loved everything. They also had great specials. I will say their service is slow, which may have been since it was Valentine’s and quite busy, or possibly a cultural difference. I would love to come again!

Yelp
Charming Spanish flare with quiet music playing to allow for conversation to be held. Friendly staff - answered all questions and were personable. Carlos and Justin are top notch! The food was amazing - we started with a goat cheese salad and then had a fabulous mixture of seafood grilled to perfection . We finished with a delicious variety of desserts. Look forward to next time!

Yelp
I had the cassoulet and a glass of wine. Both were good. Service was very slow. Maybe because I was a single diner? The larger groups seem to get all the attention and a lot of clout chatting. Also not a fan of the dip they provide with the bread. I would prefer olive oil or butter.

Yelp
Most expensive meal in Montreal. Floor to ceiling windows. CAN$9 lentil soup portion size was tiny, and the soup was not as thick as I would have liked. CAN59$ Spanish style fish and seafood parrillada came with 20 mussels, 5 shrimp, 3 clams, several pieces of white fish, along with wedges of potatoes over a ratatouille sauce with a rich tomato taste. Thought this was seafood paella, but didn't come in a pot with crusted rice. Good portion, but the seafood got cold right away. CAN34$ fish of the day was swordfish with vegetables. Delicately flaked white fish, very tender to eat, buttery melt in your mouth flavor. Too small a portion for me -would have starved. Came for Barroco, but the restaurant next door didn't open until 530pm, so we ate here, along with the group on the next door table.

Yelp
Went here on a whim. Really enjoyed the whole experience. The waiter was very kind. The bread started with tomato garlic sauce was delicious. Tried two specials, calamari steak and steak. Both cooked really nicely and the house veggies were perfection!

Yelp
This was my third or fourth time having dinner here. I'd previously visited Montreal and found this place and returned three times on that trip, including bringing a group of work colleagues because of the reasonable music volume, great musical selection, and good food. This trip I planned another work dinner for six, a smaller group, and the dinner went just as well. The food was good but not wow. Desserts were a bigger hit than the main courses but the paella was well liked and the pork cheeks were solid. The service is either good or excellent. The prices are reasonable for the quality. I'd add a star for the overall experience if the restaurant would get the license allowing patrons to bring their own bottle of wine, but I understand that this is not common in Montreal because of the provincial laws. I'll keep coming back when I am in town.

Yelp
Ok, we went into this restaurant with very high expectations. Food looked well made and the appearance was professional. As we sat down, water was offered but not delivered for 20-30 minutes. There were several occasions of visible staff confusion. Although many stopped by to help, our main waitress remained indifferent to any friendliness that me or my children showed. (Note: My kids are both older and mature) It could have been that we were not locals, took a few extra minutes to look over the menu, or maybe she had a bad day however, the feeling of un-welcomeness from her was entirely present. On another note, I wanted to give the restaurant three stars because of some staff members who were very polite, the dishes we ordered, and the atmosphere was bustling and lovely. Also, the sauce that came with the bread was super good.

Yelp
We fell into this amazing restaurant and leaving now so happy! Amazing food - service - and ambiance - all at a decent price. They really care here that you are happy.

Yelp
This is a great choice for pescatarians. It had several selections on the menu that were either fish or vegetarian, and the one I selected was excellent: mackerel with vegetables. The fish was very tasty -- though the knife they gave me was necessary. The vegetables were perfectly done and were composed of an interesting and flavorful variety in a delicious sauce. For dessert I ordered the strawberries in pink pepper sauce. This was an adventurous choice, but the peppercorns were not very hot so they added a nice crunch and a unique flavor. This dessert was not very sweet, for which I was grateful. I also ordered a mint tisane, which was nice. The honey they provided was of exceptional quality. They also provided a unique sauce for the French bread which seemed to be lightly tomato-based. I liked it a lot. The only downside to me was the acoustics - I could clearly hear everyone's conversation. But then, that can also be amusing. Watch what you say.

Yelp
Relatively easy to get a reservation here last minute. We were a group of 8. The gazpacho was fresh and the orange cake was one of the best I've had. The fish was pretty good. The service was very friendly. Overall a good dinner!

Yelp
Outstanding, Superb food, service and ambience. Loved the place. 5 minutes of walking distance from St Paul, Marriott owned hotel. Great selection of options on the high-end quality French/Mediterranean/Mexican food. We took fancy paella and salmon platter - both were prepared to the perfection and presented beautifully.

Yelp
Had dinner and wasn't overly impressed. I started with the creamy mussel soup with saffron and it was excellent. For an entree I had the seafood pasta it was incredibly underwhelming. It was very bland and under seasoned. Plus it lacked an appropriate amount of seafood. Two tiny shrimp and a small ring of calamari. Overall vibe felt very touristy.

Yelp
Amazing food, and Kevin was probably one of the best waiters I've ever had. Absolutely fantastic experience.

Yelp
This place is a gem. I love the outdoor dining unfortunately we had to move inside as the bees decided to dine with us. The service is awesome and they made sure were ok the whole time. The paella is superb (personally, I'd like mine charred at the bottom) seasoned well and the ingredients are plenty. The seasonal soup they had taste really good and wife enjoyed her plate, the veggies were roasted and seasoned just right. Would love to dine here again whenever I tour this place again. Las Vegas, NV

Yelp
Do yourself a favor and dine here. This is not the typical touristy restaurant as many of them in this neighborhood. It's world apart from them. The service - super good, dining experience inside and outside - really nice (we were sitting outside), the cleanliness, especially the restroom - impressive. The food....OMG, the food....amazing. Everything. We had gazpacho and butternut squash soups that were delicious, salmon for main course that was simply to die for and the dessert that was mind blowing. Cant wait to go back there!

Yelp
Very enjoyable dining experience. I do not approve of word count minimums in reviews.

Yelp
We ducked into Les Pyrenees just before a downpour of rain without knowing anything about it and are so glad we were near this restaurant particular at that time. Excellent service, warm and welcoming atmosphere and outstanding food. We asked for recommendations on food and a mid- priced wine - they did not disappoint. The standard size seafood parrillada (standard size), was beautiful, flavorful and easily filled us both. We felt the pricing was very reasonable for the quantity and quality.

Carol L.

Yelp
Loved this place for years! Disappointed this time. Braised beef cheeks were outstanding, but the rest of the meal; beef tartare, cassoulet, and Catalan Creme Brûlée were mediocre. Noisy, crowded, and played loud techno music. Our meal was at 8 pm, but we felt like we were being rushed. Not a quiet romantic dinner. Sorry, next time in Montreal, I'll try somewhere else.

Yelp
A nice surprise! We loved our meal here - I had penne pasta with mushrooms in a cream sauce and my husband had the Argentinian shrimp. We had Spanish orange cake with chocolate for dessert - divine!! Service was amazing, we felt welcomed and well taken care of. I would highly recommend this place - it looked like a lot of other great things to try on the menu!

Jill R.

Yelp
We had Christmas dinner here and it was a wonderful experience. The service was great and the food was wonderful. The French onion soup was delicious. My husband loved the smoked salmon lasagna. The holiday menu was great. We are so glad we picked here to celebrate. The restaurant was tastefully decorated for the holidays and the ambiance was lovely making conversation easy.

Yelp
We've been to Les Pyrenees a couple of times and enjoyed both visits. This most recent encounter was for a nice Monday lunch. The lunch menu is really quite good and offers up about 8 entree selections complete with your choice of soup or app and finishes with tea or coffee. They also have the full dessert menu available. Barb had the Butternut Squash soup and Veggie Quiche, both of which were excellent. I tried the quiche and found it light and fluffy with an amazing crust. I chose the bruschetta which was served with a small salad and the chicken and chorizo entree which was also a salad. Again both dishes were excellent, maybe a little too much salad in my choices but tasty. We paired everything with a nice Rioja white by the glass. Service was friendly and excellent as well. I left asking myself why we don't visit this place more often, note to self to return soon!
google avatar

Lauren B.

Yelp
Popped in for a quick lunch and loved how fast they served me my French onion soup. Sometimes when you're travelling for business alone, you're kind of an afterthought for servers. This was not the case here. My soup was wonderful and the service was so quick and friendly. Would love to return for a full dinner soon.

Yelp
We had lunch at this place the food was good just a lot bees flying around keeping us busy waving all the time not comfortable

Yelp
Nice place with friendly staff, the food was good but the slowly cooked shoulder was not what I was expecting.

Yelp
Great spot! We came here for a late dinner at 9:30pm They don't serve the traditional tomato bread from Catalan but they give bread with a side of garlic tomato spread which was also good. We ordered the pork cigar which was AMAZING. The best dish of the night. It was a pork wrapped in some kind of light pastry on top of a bed of vegetables. The pork had an amazing flavor as did the vegetables. We also ordered the almond based seafood stew; the Zarzuela espagnole de morue. It was really good. The broth was almondy and buttery and had a lot of garlic flavor. The seafood was fresh and great. The last thing we ordered was a special; the beef in white sauce. Don't get this! Not sure why we ordered a French-ish dish at a Catalan restaurant but it wasn't good. The beef was super undercooked and when we sent it back, it was undercooked again. The sauce was OK but nothing to die for. For drinks we had a wine and a mixed drink. My mixed drink was poorly made and all the syrup was at the bottom while the alcohol floated at the top. We probably should've ordered the sangria but I forgot! All in all, great experience. Minus 1 star for the bad beef and mixed drink, but the other two items were great and the atmosphere is great.

Yelp
I came here on my birthday with a friend since it was recommended to us by one of his colleagues and honestly it did not disappoint. It's small and cute , romantically lit room and gave off major throwback vibes from a trip to Spain. The waiters were amazing patient and nice , and walked us through the menu and the menu du jour. We had chosen the Paella without Chorizo and the Plancha seared calamari with seasonal vegetables. The food was succulent and full of flavour, you can tell that the chef(s) really enjoy cooking the food from the flavour . The desserts were good ( got the creme brûlée and the strawberry with cream and a surprise ); however the caramelization on top of the creme brûlée wasn't as crunchy as it was supposed to be but it's okay; Would go back again .

Karen S.

Yelp
The atmosphere is elegant and fun; the service was helpful and very friendly. The menu has many vegetarian options, which was one of the drawing cards for us. I ordered the soup of the day and the vegan Catalonian paella. The soup, sweet potato, was a little bland. The paella was terrific and fun for the eyes as well as the palate. My wife ordered the Catalonian seafood paella without chorizo and said it was very good. Free bread was a nice surprise, and it was warm and crusty.

Katie R.

Yelp
We stopped by for lunch. Loved the service and atmosphere. Ordered three starters: the mussel soup, the saffron risotto with chorizo, and the eggplant/zucchini/cauliflower. They were all amazing! We are definitely going back when in Montreal again.

Matthew L.

Yelp
Went for dinner. Service was fast and good, drinks were good, had the paella with seafood chicken and chorizo which was good as well.
google avatar

L G.

Yelp
We were able to walk in with good timing and we had an excellent meal. Veggie paella, traditional paella, and the desserts were lovely and decadent. Wine choices were good. Very nice service as well. We enjoyed it very much.

Dr S.

Yelp
I have a feeling their dinner might be more impressive- we got the lunch special a d it was good, just not excellent. Specifically the quiche was soggy and had no flavor. Their coffee is not that good either and I asked 4 times u til I got a refill after 35+ mins.
google avatar

Ethan T.

Yelp
Another A+ food experience in Montreal. The service was stellar and our waiter, Christophe was very accommodating, friendly, engaging and knowledgeable about gluten-free options and food allergies. The atmosphere in this restaurant was cool, modern, and chic and the music was nice. The food was amazing and over-all experience was awesome. My wife had the scallop appetizer and salad and I had one of the lunch specials that included a main entrée, soup or salad, and coffee. Really nice experience and awesome service!

Gideon M.

Yelp
Mediocre, mediocre, mediocre! It's a pretty space and the vibe is cheery ... but beware of the food. The paella was exceptionally poor. I'd wager the rice was prepared separately and then some seafood was added to garnish the dish. The mussels, shrimp, and clams were practically flavorless (not seasoned in any way and the shrimp tasted boiled, not grilled) and completely disconnected from the dish. It looked nice, but was a disjointed, sad affair. The service was pleasant, but poor. I ordered a second glass of wine and had to remind the waitress after 15 minutes: "Didn't I already bring that to you?" Nope. My daughter's shrimp and scallops were better (at least the shrimp was grilled and the scallops were well prepared), but her dish was smothered in an insipid pink sauce (a la vodka?) that added nothing to the dish. Adding insult to injury, the bill was over $200 before tip. Avoid this place if you like Spanish cuisine. It'll just upset you.
google avatar

Anthony L.

Yelp
It's a solid 3.5 stars. We ordered the steak special & seafood paella. It wasn't as tasty as we expected but it was passable. The steak was decent but it really wasn't anything spectacular. The restaurant accommodates family with kids and that's the reason we went. Our servers were nice.

Yelp
One of my favorite spots in Montréal. A little taste of Spain and southern France. The " parrillada del mar " is a must try !

Ula T.

Yelp
Must experience. In a popular section but not your typical tourist experience. Wait staff was amazing - happy to help with food and wine choices; overall fun team. The restaurant was very accommodating when we wanted to add two people to an already big reservation; they just said "you'll be a bit tight" which was perfectly fine and very nice given that every other restaurant gave us an issue. The food - omg the food!! - gazpacho was delicious; the paella amazing; cassoulet was off the hook! For a party of 11 (including 3 kids), everyone raves about what they ate and I'm sure we ate the whole menu. Must go, we def will again when traveling.
google avatar

Tamara H.

Yelp
I came here as part of an invite. The service was fantastic and the vibes were cool. I tried some tapas, including Spanish omelette, cod fritters, and chorizo stuffed dates. Pretty yummy! My fave bite of the night was the ceviche (amazing), along with the slow-cooked lamb main. Unfortunately, the star of the night - the paella - had some overcooked seafood, probably because of the huge quantity they made for the special night. The presentation of the paella was a showstopper for sure, and the flavour of the saffron rice mixing in with the seafood was decadent. We ended the night with 2 dessert choices, one featuring strawberries and pink peppercorns, while the other was an orange gateau. To be honest, I disliked both desserts, with the gateau being bland, while the pink peppercorns were so obnoxious, they left a bad taste in my mouth! I had a wonderful time with great service and presentation but the food was just not for me... The restaurant itself is located in the Old Port and perfect for date night since it's trendy but not too fancy.

Yelp
This place is the bomb! Why? Because... 1. Staff are SUPER friendly - shoutout to Jeremy (our French waiter) 2. Location is right in the heart of old town Montreal 3. Food is delicious My colleagues and I dropped into the restaurant around 7:30pm with no reservation and they took us right in. The menu has a good variety, including their daily special menu. Service was on point too. We started off with a bottle of wine, a starter and then our entrees. The wait staff provided the wrong entree for one of my colleague but within seconds placed in the correct order. He even gave us extra wine to top off our glass (holla!). In the end we decided to order the chocolate cake dessert. It originally comes with whipped cream but again, our waiter came to our rescue and happily swapped the whipped cream with vanilla ice cream when we asked. The best surprise was the dessert drinks he gave each of us! I cannot express how awesome the service was. Jeremy not only provided excellent service but went above and beyond by taking a boomerang of us (with multiple tries). Such a great experience to kick off my trip!
google avatar

David F.

Yelp
Cozy spot with a charming staff and creative, delicious dishes. Wife and I shared a paella feast for our main. Look at that picture! It was loaded with so much top quality seafood, we could barely finish it. Perfect balance of flavors. One minor suggestion to the manager - while the background music is not loud, electronic beat music isn't the right genre for your ambiance.

David L.

Yelp
We were quickly looking at the menu posted outside, and the maître d' came out to answer any questions. This was March and it was cold and windy out. We decided to give Les Pyrénées a try and were not disappointed. Excellent meal, wine, ambiance, and last but not least, service. Walleye was on the menu and it was exceptional and beautifully presented with tasty and colorful veggies. The paella was full of fresh seafood. A memorable meal in a wonderful part of Montréal.

A K.

Yelp
My onion soup gets a 5/5 My desert- profiteroles- get a 4/5. The ice cream used was not great- not sure what ice cream they use but should have used a better one. My vegeterian paella gets a 1/5. This is where the chef really messed up and messed up HUGE. Im shocked that a chef at a restuarant like this does not know how to handle vegetables. Besides the peas used, my brocolli was almost raw and a massive chunk of it was placed in the paella. The tomatoes were stewed- the rice was under salted and under spiced. This was as bland as it could be. Shame! There were 5 of us of which mine and another persons dishes were not good. Highly overpriced for what it is- Avoid it if you can!
google avatar

Vidisha V.

Yelp
This is a fab place! Jeremy our server was the best. Loved the food, service, wine, dessert everything here. We ordered Paella, seafood pasta, lamb shank ( awesome)! They got me the wrong pasta and were so apologetic about it! Got us free wine..! Extra drinks..! Got me the pasta I had ordered in 10 mins! Love this place, must visit when are in a mood for Spanish + French foood!
google avatar

Jj C.

Yelp
This place has some great dishes and some not so great. The fish soup and onion soup were fabulous but my salmon had zero taste. No spices, blah. Kind of surprised for a Catalan place. They do veggies well and their service is great. Give them a try. Maybe they were having an off night.
google avatar

Ani J.

Yelp
I decided to try this restaurant as they have a few vegetarian options. Its located on Rue St Paul, which is the oldest street in Montreal. The restaurant is well decorated and as we were going through the menu, the waitress came out and welcomed us in. The service was good and attentive. I decided to try one of their vegetarian burgers (picture attached). It was ok. I should have tried the couscous I feel. The burger was a bit bland for my taste. But I like the fact that there are other vegetarian options to try, and not just one that vegetarians are stuck with. If you are a vegetarian, definitely try out this place. I wasnt too pleased with what I ordered, but I am sure the other entrees would be better.
google avatar

Jim H.

Yelp
Fantastic meal. Duck was on point and the sides more than held to it's standard. Quebec cheese plate was a delight. The strength of Les Pyrannes is it's staff. So very welcoming from start-to-finish.
google avatar

Christina T.

Yelp
I came in... wanting dessert. The waitress gladly handed me the dessert menu and I ordered the plate with 4 kinds of cheese which were fantastic! She added slices of bread to go along with my cheeses and I had the best desserts - I left a generous tip afterward. Definitely, I will go back to get other things from the menu.
google avatar

Karen H.

Yelp
The menu outside caught my attention of whether I was going to eat dinner here. French/Spanish style food. Soon as we entered and was seated the experience was off to a great start. The staff was more than friendly. Appetizer was the butternut squash soup which was a generous portion. The 12 hour Braised Lamb with spinach topped with almonds was the choice. The presentation of the plate suited the tenderness of the lamb and was exquisite. I loved it! Montreal is a city of great restaurants and I live in the middle of it. Feeling quite satisfied I finished the evening with a cappuccino per usual. This is a definite return to explore other dishes!

Rebecca R.

Yelp
Just Amazing! The service, the food, the ambience, it was all just perfect. The wait staff was so warm and friendly and brought out everything in a timely manner. Great for date night or a family meal. It's in a wonderful scenic area of Old Montreal. We had the paella and pasta and both of our dishes were to die for. 100% recommend!!!
google avatar

Wang Q.

Yelp
We just passed by the restaurant and walked in when seeing the photo of paella served in this restaurant. Food is excellent and so is the service. The wine waiter recommended went well with the course we ordered. We ordered Chorizo and Shrimp Risotto and Paella, with 2 wine on top and the dessert of day, which is a almond and cherry cake. Will definitely come here again!

Yelp
Party of 7. I made the reservation based on reviews... I really wanted to like this restaurant, and I like many things about it, but some of the food the eve we ate there was hit or miss. Decor an A, Deserts an A+, Charcuterie a B+ (albeit small plate)...now for some of the dishes: Cassoulet a D (what a shame, shallow pan and dry, we had 2 at our table so it wasn't just mine), All our various steaks a B, well seasoned but meat was fatty and stringy, not great cuts for the price. So, it's up to you, it could have been the night we were there...
