On what will be likely our final visit here since we move our recent KU graduate daughter back to Colorado this weekend, this visit was good, but not great. Busy on a Saturday night, we were seated a bit before our scheduled reservation time, but we waited a long time to be greeted once we sat. Waitress attentiveness was much better after the initial wait, however.
My daughter and I each had a beer, although hers was technically the spiked root beer she prefers. I went with my regular judges plate with sausage and two orders of ribs. What I got was one order of ribs and one order of brisket. No worries though, as I received another order of ribs to go with the brisket. Looking back, kind of glad not all ribs received came from the same rack, as the replacement ribs were MUCH better than the first two on the plate. Too bad that two were near the end of the rack and a lot more fat than succulent meat. Sausage was good as always. For our final visit, I splurged on the Mac and cheese, which I never get. Glad I did, as it was the highlight of the meal. Side veggies are still delicious too. Yeah, because I'm eating real healthy with this meal. Oy.
My daughter got her regular brisket plate with burnt ends, which had been amazing on our last visit a few months ago. Unfortunately, not so spectacular on this visit. Good, but not great. She was underwhelmed with the brisket as well, which I actually thought was pretty decent. She agreed the Mac and cheese was the star of the show.
Had this been our first visit, we likely would've tried some of the other joints next time around, and I probably would've given it three stars. However, as our go-to in the KC area after so many great visits, their previous reputation gets it up to four for me. Until we potentially meet again down the road, Q39!
