Very beautiful coffee shop! I love that it’s open late. Everything I’ve tried here has been great but I think my favorite is the moroccan mint tea. And the pastry selection is delicious.

We are so lucky to have a Yemeni coffee house in Richmond! The place is spacious, clean and evocative of its Middle Eastern roots. Some unique pastries and drinks, good service and lots of laptop-friendly tables. Free parking weekends but otherwise parking may be a challenge as it's in the heart of VCU territory.

We got the brown sugar and pistachio lattes which were really good! The sabaya pastry was delicious as well. Service was prompt and attentive. There is ample seating.

Some of the best coffee and tea I have ever had plus their pastries are amazing. Most recently I had the yemeni iced coffee, pistachio latte, Sabaya pastry and honeycomb bread. Everything was top tier! The atmosphere is great as well. Upbeat music but not too loud, the employees are very nice, and the decor is beautiful. 10/10

GOOD PEOPLE OF VA: LISTEN TO ME!! This is THE best coffee, chai, pastry place you have access to. Do not take this place for granted!! There are only a few locations in the country and I was shocked to find out this one exists as I was visiting the VA area. I go 30 min out of my way in NYC to go to their Brooklyn location often because of how good it is. The coffee is so deeply rich, flavorful, and lovely. Heed my words, do yourself a favor and enjoy all of the fabulous offerings of Qahwah (and their very kind staff). The staff is also SUPER knowledgeable and can help you navigate what to order based on your preferences. They have so many amazing options so trust in the staff and they will give you the right thing - I’m obsessed with what I got here. P.S. The one in NYC is always packed - this one is a delightfully spacious and quiet space!

Google
Qahwah House has become our go-to spot for Middle Eastern coffee, drinks, and desserts. We gladly make the one-hour drive just to enjoy it. The service is consistently excellent, and the drinks are always on point. The only downside is that it can get quite busy, making it hard to find seating at times. Other than that, it’s a fantastic place worth the trip.

Google
Great cafe to get hard to find Middle Eastern pastries that are some of the best I've had, with amazing coffee The Knafeh with what i think was hazelnut and pistachio mousse was an amazing variation from what I've typically seen. Extremely rich and decadent, very good pairing with the coffee The honey topped pull apart bread was next level as well. Very soft and fluffy, with butter spread on the side to kick it up a notch. Every bite was flavorful but not overly sweet Also got the Burma and their Pistachio Dream pastries. Which were both amazing in their own right, but they had stiff competition from the above

I ordered the brown sugar latter with one shot of espresso. Honestly, the best coffee cup of the year for me. The flavor was so creamy, midly sweet, and rich with a hint of cinnamon. Can't even describe it in words. It was such a great refreshment and energy boost. I also tried the honeycomb bread. It had cream cheese in the middle and was drizzled with honey. What's not to love but not really impressive for me. Highly recommend trying the latte. The only downside is that it was very busy during the weekend. We still managed to stay for a while to work and study tho. Free wifi and charging places!

Yelp
I love seeing more and more Arab businesses open up in RVA. If you're looking for delicious and strong coffee, Qahwah House is for you. I visited with some friends earlier this year and had a blast. There is plenty of seating throughout the store (only indoor available). This spot is right by VCU. I love that they play Arabic music in the shop. The menu is very big and has a huge variety of sweets and drinks to pick from. If you're not a coffee person, they have endless tea options. The people who work here are kind. When you place your order you get a buzzer to tell you when your order is ready. My mom enjoyed speaking Arabic to the baristas. As for bathrooms, there are three single stall options. One labeled woman, another man, and another all genders. The star of the show to me are the coffee pots. You can pick from a small, medium, or large pot and then choose which specific Yemeni coffee or tea pot you'd like. There are different options with different spices or cream. It's extremely charming. You can also opt to just get a single cup of a different coffee or tea. On my first visit I remember getting a latte I really enjoyed. On this recent one with my mom, we adored a pot of Mofawar (medium roast coffee served with cardamom & cream). I'm excited to try some of their sweets on my next visit. I highly recommend this spot.

Yelp
Awesome space for hanging out or doing work. Super spacious and cozy. Chai latte was delicious. If you get the pot to share, it comes with a little candle to keep it hot. Service was fast.

Yelp
Wanted to try something different over the weekend and saw this coffee shop was open til midnight. Never been to a cafe like this but I absolutely loved it!! As soon as I walked in, I felt welcomed and immersed in the Yemeni culture. I got the pistachio latte and it was absolutely delicious!! The raspberry cake was also really good and not too sweet. I'll be bringing all my friends here whenever I'm in Richmond!

Yelp
What a spot - if I went to VCU as a student, I would be here almost everyday, I promise you. Huge cafe with plenty of seating, and coffee that is truly so delicious - I got the Qishr coffee and savored every sip, each packed with some serious flavor and just as much caffeine to keep you wired. The Honeycomb Bread is like a bundle of joy in every bite - so subtle considering it is technically just bread and cream cheese, so you don't really expect the world but man do you get it. Every piece is equitable in that every "ball" has its own filling, so not one bite is lacking. Took awhile to get everything to my table, but they were also super busy so that was foreseeable. The Richmond-specific mural was the finishing touch on an otherwise amazing cultural experience right here in our home. Wish I could be here everyday.

Yelp
With plenty of seating and room for plugging in devices, Qahwah house seems to be a great place to study or get some work done. Coming here was like taking a walk down memory lane for me-- the cafe is located in the same space as the old Virginia Book Company-- I remember coming here to pick up books and supplies back in college, and it was nice to see how beautifully Qahwah has utilized the space. I ordered the pistachio latte with oat milk, and I was pleasantly surprised by the depth of flavor and quality of the drink. Will definitely be coming back if I'm in the area!

Yelp
One of the few places that open late (till midnight - 2025). They had a wide selection of coffee and teas. They serve flavorful coffee or tea in pots. It's a great atmosphere for a sitting down to chat or to do work

Yelp
Delish coffee!! I went twice in one day because of how addicting the pistachio latte was. Went around 7am and it was very quiet inside and clean. - went again around 5pm and it was busier but still a ton of seating. The art work on the walls are cool too! Kinda pricey but worth it.

Yelp
Qawah House is a spacious coffee shop located near VCU specializing in Yemeni coffee and oh my goodness was the coffee good. The inside was stunning with beautiful lighting, colorful murals and pretty florals. There was ample seating and enough space between tables to not feel cramped. The menu is extensive and there is a variety of drinks for every person to enjoy. From refreshers to teas to coffees, I almost wanted to try everything. We ended up trying an iced caramel latte, an iced pistachio latte with oat milk and the honeycomb pull apart bread. They were all delicious but the pistachio latte was my favorite it was creamy with the perfect amount of sweetness. It had a very natural pistachio taste and didn't skew artificial at all. They also offer an array of pastries! There is a list of the names of all the pastries with a brief description of what to expect at the cash register which was a lovely accessible touch. The cashier was kind and took her time in explaining different drinks to us. Overall, Qawah House is a must visit if you're into coffee or are looking for a quiet place to relax with a good beverage or enjoy some company.

Yelp
Cool place in Richmond serving teas and coffee. Very hot! Nice desserts! Quiet and quaint.

Yelp
Stopped by here for coffee and a pastry for breakfast. I ordered a hot pistachio latte. I've never had anything like it! It was creamy and nutty. So good. I also got the khaliat alnahl. It was good but was a little disappointed because it didn't taste as fresh as I thought it would be. Overall the cafe is really nice and spacious with a cozy vibe.

Yelp
Wonderful place. Fantastic coffee and wonderfully made pastries. There are lots of beautiful murals/pictures inside, which I would have pictured but you should just come see for yourself. The consideration of the presentation when you eat in adds so much to the vibes. Come in with a friend, Order a pot of coffee to share, and hang out for a while, wonder chills vibes to spend time in.

Yelp
firstly, this was on 9/25 Thursday at night around 8pm. This was my very first time trying this place and I heard so many good stuff about it that I just had to go, my cousin who is Muslim as well recommended it to me so we both went together when we get to order some gap tooth worker asked what we want and I said "can I get the strawberry matcha please" and he said "what flavor?" so in my head im like oh maybe he didn't hear me right or the way I said it was wrong so I just ask him what flavors do you have and he point to the menu that's far as hell like if the damn menu wasn't literally next to him... like who points without even saying "so these are the flavors etc.." anyways me cousin ordered hers as well and the worker kept giving attitude and no customer service and whatever I was like the drinks can't be ass right just cause of the customer service right? WRONGGGG when I tell y'all the matcha I had was so bad it's the worst matcha I've tasted in Richmond and im a lover for matcha (so far at lotte market "tours les jours" BEST ONE if you reading this try that place it's more authentic) anyways my cousin ordered a dragonfruit frappe and y'all it did not look like the picture on display it was a really diabolical hot pink drink.. and she's been there a couple time so she was disappointed with everything atp. We got a affogato too and y'all that picture I took was how we got it, it looks so damn poor and like if someone was already eating it. We sat there and they put everything to go, the worker didn't even ask if it was to go or for here. Like damn just say we don't want you here. Worst part of all the workers that night were all men and there was a woman across from where me and my cousin were sitting and we hear a man say "hey" and everyone looks back at the workers since it came from there and one of them is pointing at the lady across from us who was alone sitting and enjoying her drink and she's like "me?" (Me and my cousin were in the middle of everything) and the worker was like "yeah come over here" and so she went over and we can hear him say "do you have a boyfriend? Because I want to talk to you " and she's like "yes I do I can't" and he's like "what you like (guessing ethnicity) Mexicans?" and she's like "I like Hispanics" anyways she goes back to her seat and packs everything and leaves. Im sorry but I've heard a lot of stories about Muslim men and that's haram... anyways to sum it up don't go here worst experience and drinks I've ever tasted I literally don't know how this place has 4.5 stars when their workers who make drinks and take orders don't understand what customer service is. OMG I forgot to mention my cousin and I stomachs were killing us after we left we didn't even finish the drinks and threw them away. Don't know what their health procedures are but they need to get them checked. Worker who served us and made our drinks chinga tu madre culero

Yelp
Really wanted to like this place but it's not in any way what I'd seek out or recommend when thinking about a place to enjoy coffee. It's extremely, extremely loud even when there aren't many people inside due to the loud music they play combined with the open / empty layout. The murals and general decor is all cool but it's definitely more so a colder feel than a cozy setup. We did not enjoy the coffee at all. Employee specifically mentioned the pistachio latte as not sweet, but it was so incredibly sweet that you cannot even taste the coffee. Were not fans of the mofawar either. Ultimately, Qawah would be much better described as a louder place for a sweet treat rather than a quiet coffee shop to relax and / or get work done. It's also hard to justify supporting a chain when there are so many great coffee oriented small businesses throughout RVA, though that's a different topic and doesn't affect the review.

Yelp
Came here to meet a friend and can't wait to return. This place is super spacious which is hard to come by at coffee shops in Richmond. We shared a pot of chai tea and each got a dessert. My carrot cake was perfection and was a great pairing for our tea. I will be back.

Yelp
OMG I have a favorite new coffee house. Close to the VCU campus on Franklin, this cute restaurant has plenty of seating, and a charming atmosphere. Having never been here, the menu and cashier were both quite helpful. We ordered a few pastries and I got a Yemeni Latte. It was so rich and complex and the spinach and cheese pastry was so excellent! Everything was absolutely perfect so I have zero complaints. Definitely will be back as often as I can.

Yelp
New coffee shop in the middle of the Vcu area. It's a Yemenite coffee shop with the coffee is having yummy spices like cardamom cinnamon and thinks that just warm your soul very comfortable space with lots of chairs and they have interesting pastries finally, a coffee shop or open up early in the morning And late night for those people looking for a place to study!

Yelp
New fav coffee spot. Their affogato is what dreams are made of, their pistachio latte was perfect, and their treats are delicious. Get the honeycomb bread and the flat pastry with the cheese in the middle. The space is cute with plenty of seating. Atmosphere is really fun and they've done a great job of transforming the bookstore. Our coffees were ready super fast.

Yelp
Always love going here for a good matcha! Girl at the register looked very tired but she gave me the best matcha I've had! I got the Lavender Matcha 10/10

Yelp
A lovely late-night Middle Eastern coffee shop, the ambiance was very inviting and warm. The desserts left a bit to be desired as they were quite dry, but the coffee was great.

Yelp
New coffee shop in VCU area. The place is clean, and have lots of seating space. We ordered Yemeni teas, coffee and the pastries. All of them are delicious, flavorful. Definitely worth visiting if you're in the area!!

Yelp
Yum Yemeni coffee. Literally everything (food, service, vibes) was amazing. I highly recommend the pistachio latte and honeycomb bread (Khaliat Al Nahl).

Yelp
This new coffee shop has reached the top of my list for my all time favorite coffee shop in richmond! The ambiance is very welcoming and warm with beautiful decor. The service is friendly and fast with all the drinks made very beautifully. The pastries are amazing and the pistachio milk cake is my favorite as it tastes similar to a tres leches. The coffee is strong and caffeinated but is sweet with wonderful flavors. They present the drinks and pastries very nicely and are very instagram worthy. I am going to be craving this place once I go back to california! 10/10 amazing place and a great spot to try out with friends :)

Yelp
I've been waiting to try Qahwah House for years. It didn't disappoint. I enjoyed the Adeni Chai with the honey bread with the cheese in it. Freshly made and tasty. The Pistachio cheesecake with kunafa was perfect. Not overly sweet.

Sally D.

Yelp
Love love love the pistachio latte. I have to stop myself from going almost everyday. Their pastries are amazing too especially the pistachio milk cake. My gf got the caramel latte & said it was great. Another friend of mine got the brown sugar shaken espresso & she loved it as well. Overall I'd recommend to anyone.

John S.

Yelp
Legitimate Turkish coffee house A true coffee cafe experience with their seating. I live out of state and working an event at VCU. Staff made a great recommendation each day. One of my favorite coffee houses in the United States.

Mina S.

Yelp
The drinks are significantly overpriced and lack quality. Additionally, the staff is rude and shows little regard for their customers.

Jonathan L.

Yelp
Very diverse menu for drinks including coffee and non coffee options, as well as many pastries and it's all presented beautifully.

Liam C.

Yelp
I got a ginger tea, and the spinach feta pastry. The tea was solid and the pastry blew me away. Everyone was extremely kind and helpful, felt very welcome. Plenty of seating for doing work, a meeting, or a date.

Lulu A.

Yelp
Everything is high quality, and my coffee is always made right. I recommend their Americanos and Iced brown sugar shaken espresso for coffee, and for the pastries I recommend their feta and spinach. The cafe is always spotless, the location is perfect because it's in VCU's campus. and the baristas are always friendly.
