Best Arab American Coffee Shops in Dearborn | Eater Detroit

"The coffee shop chain sources light, medium, and dark roast beans from Yemeni farmers along with specialty blends like qishr — the dried husk of coffee cherries that are used to brew a traditional spiced tea (also known as Cascara). Yemeni coffee beans hold a unique and bold flavor — berry and woody undertones with a rich chocolate aftertaste. The Dearborn cafe is adorned with murals by local artists, and the coffee is brewed with the traditional method of grinding the beans down to a fine powder and infusing them with spices and sugar in single servings or by the kettle. The cafe also offers a variety of sweet treats, and the honeycomb pastry is not to be missed." - Courtney Burk

Ambiance: 5/5 | Food: 4.5/5 | Service: 5/5 Parking: Available Qamaria has a great ambiance that makes you want to sit back and stay a while -- warm lighting, comfy seating, and nice music in the background set the perfect vibe. The honeycomb was a standout -- crisp, sweet, and just the right texture. The tea hit the spot too, perfectly brewed and flavorful.

Nice tea shop. relaxing good ambience, and atmosphere. I enjoyed my Adani tea. had to go back and ask for more cardamom.

So, first of all, I'm the type who rarely leaves reviews. When I do though I'm thorough, & it means I was moved by my experience & I'm thorough. In this case, I found a new favorite Cafe: This was my first time visiting this cafe. I went with a friend and my well trained service dog. The moment we walked in the door the rich scent of cardamom welcomed us with an ambient atmosphere. The decor was absolutely stunning with what I believe to be Turkish decor. My friend didn't take long to decide, but I had to think a while. Everything sounded delicious! The team member at the register was very patient in this regard. After deciding he took my order. I initially asked if he could make one of the blends as an oat milk latte & he indicated it should be good, but after checking with the barista team members it turned out that one couldn't be made that way. He promptly let me know & offered an alternate recommendation. I was completely okay with that & appreciated both his honesty as he noticed the situation, & his recommendation. I ended up with a Mufawar iced latte, & chose to include sugar. I also got the pistachio Turkish tres leches. My friend got the pistachio iced latte (I think with sugar), & the rose Turkish tres leches. We agreed to each split our Turkish tres leches with each-other, so I got to try both flavors. Although there were at least two people in front of us when we arrived our drinks were prepared quite quickly, & were ready not long after we finished checking out. When they arrived it looked even better than I'd expected. We sat on one of the Turkish style couches along the wall. *(It felt wrong calling it a booth & couch doesn't feel right, so I just looked it up. If accurate, it's called a divan. Leaving my comment prior to acknowledge I just learned that.) The divan seat was very comfortable. It was soft, but also firm enough to have some support. The colors were beautiful & added into the warm ambience of the cafe. After sitting down & dividing our cakes we took a bite, & sipped our lattes. The Mufawar latte was nice and creamy with earthy notes & a rich, slightly nutty undertone almost reminiscent of a gentle chocolate. The coffee felt smooth & was noted in perfect harmony with all flavors incorporated. The sugar added what I consider the perfect level of sweetness. It was sweet enough to be noted at the level that's happy & uplifting, but not so sweet it's overwhelming or taking away from the other flavors. They really honed the flavor balance there. Additionally it tasted as if quality ingredients were used to craft it. Absolutely delicious!!! Both of the Turkish tres leches were delectable! The light cake merged in harmony with the rich milk blend adding a moisture where it almost gives the illusion of being juicy while melting in the mouth & retaining both it's form & splendor. The cream topping is a bit sweet to me, but the cake & milk blend balance it well. The pistachio flavor adds a certain gentle sweetness with a soothing yet also vibrant happy flavor. It's not overpowering & very enjoyable. I absolutely adore how they topped it with rose petals! The rose flavor was probably my favorite. I'm admittedly a bit bias there, as rose is almost always my favorite flavor in sweets. This one was made with more delicate rose flavor notes. The balance was almost that of a gentle accent, but I could still tell it was present. *For those who love rose, but prefer it more subtle, or tried it once, but it was too strong, I'd recommend trying this cake if curious. Very tasty! I definitely hope to be back one day! Looking forward to trying the other latte flavors & their teas too. I also want to try their caramel Turkish tres leches & other desserts. I will get the rose again sometime too. I adore rose flavors!!! This is my new favorite cafe! Best coffee I've had yet, beautiful presentation, wonderful atmosphere, & great service! To the Cafe: Keep doing what you're doing here! From what I've seen you're doing an amazing job! Thank you all, & I look forward to the next time I can visit. ✨🌟✨

This Qamaria Yemeni Coffee Co. location offers a relaxing ambiance with seating that faces a beautiful lake across the street. The sofa seating and high chairs provide a great spot to enjoy a cup of tea while taking in the view. The interior design is warm and inviting, making it a great place for a casual meetup or to get some work done. The menu has must-try items like Pistachio Cake, which is rich and flavorful, along with the soft and delicious Honeycomb Bread. The Adeni Tea is another highlight, offering a perfectly spiced and comforting drink. Recommend taking tea cups. However, the Kunafa Cheesecake and pistachio tres leches didn’t quite meet expectations. Staffs are friendly and service I quick. The restrooms are clean, and the entrance faces south. Overall, this location offers a great mix of ambiance, good food, and scenic seating. I recommend this place and will definitely return for another visit!

Google
I love your coffee; however lately your servings are a little odd, this is the serving of a Qamarian Latte to go and it feels Like a capuchino 1/3 of foam... This was not the regular servings you used to do. You made my Saturday a sad one.

Google
This place is a wonderful hidden gem. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The latte was tasty, and the meat pastry was incredible. The only reason I'm not giving a 5 star is due to the lack of organic foods. This is worth the "cheat." I look forward to my next visit

Google
This Coffee shop truly has a really chill and welcoming vibe. The workers are always nice and make you feel comfortable as soon as you walk in. The coffee is strong and flavorful, I’m a big fan of their pistachio oat milk latte and especially their signature Qamaria Latte hot and cold. They’ve also got some great snacks, like fresh samosas and sweet pastries that go great with the drinks. You need to try out their honeycomb dessert!! Whether I’m meeting up with someone or just relaxing, it’s one of my favorite spots to hang out, especially since they stay open late.

Google
It was a busy time when I went in. I ordered the honeycomb, it was great with cheese filling in each pocket and then fresh honey poured on top. The presentation is great, served on a wood board. It is setup with some nice comfortable living room style furnishings as well as some tables and even some high tops for people who want space to work and study. There is a nice patio as well to sit and relax in the nice weather. I was disappointed with the service, both men were polite but my order was forgotten. I had to wait more than ten minutes for my honeycomb. But since the guy was very apologetic.

Yelp
This will be a quick and concise review. Qamaria Coffee is the best coffee in the world. The service at each location is always impeccable. The aesthetic is uniquely Yemeni; warm with a clean line modernity. If you love coffee and kind ppl you'll love this place.

Yelp
Beautiful location. The pistachio oat milk latte was amazing!! And the samosa -- meat and the cheese were delicious
google avatar

Natasha V.

Yelp
Wonderful, tasty and unique coffee! I had the Pistachio Chai Coffee and Qamaria Coffee, both iced. The location is very easy to get to and located next to a sub shop, and there are a few other restaraunt's. Great a lot with ample room to study, read or meet with a few friends. I liked it so much I went two days in a row!
google avatar

Yelp
Their Qamaria Latte is a win every time! Love this place! Everyone who works here is always so nice. Also try their Aden tea!

Yelp
Super yummy, great service, crazy good selection, great hours, reasonable prices, super beautiful branding & decor. I will definitely become a regular!

Yelp
Just BEAUTIFUL AND EXQUISITE! The Dishes and cups and pots look like they're made for Kings and Queens! I've always wanted to a coffeehouse like this and I'm glad I finally did. I got the turkish coffee and I loved it! It's perfect for those who like a strong cup of coffee. Me personally, I'll be adding a shot of espresso in for the next time I go! And I'll definitely be dining In instead of taking it to go. I recommend dining in for the full experience and to give yourself time to look at the beautiful layout and decor! I felt extremely welcomed here and taken care of! Thank you for the food! SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL BUSINESSES! And I'm glad I made that choice and decision. DEFINITELY TRY OAMARIA YEMENI COFFEES they're traditional and everything tastes amazing! Thank you so much oamari!

Jess D.

Yelp
The coffee is great, I ordered a latte. However, they unfortunately do not have decaf.

Corina A.

Yelp
The coffees were great but OMG the food and dessert were amazing! Will definitely be coming back. I got the biscoff tres leche cake and pistachio latter and was in heaven.

Brittany W.

Yelp
Warm environment and nice selection. The baked goods were good but the pistachio latte was the headliner for us. Creamy and a little bit sweet, would definitely visit again :)
google avatar

Mona P.

Yelp
Cute little place. Welcoming entrance and customer service. Was worried about the frosting on the pistachio cake. OMG. It's sooo fluffy, and the hint of rose water made it just heavenly. If you care for full flavor coffee: you need to try this place !
google avatar

Mohammad Ashraf A.

Yelp
Nice ambience with great pistachio latte and cakes. The service was fast. Definitely worth a try
google avatar

Aliya S.

Yelp
The atmosphere is open and cozy. The desserts are delicious and so are the drinks! Only issue I had was that the wifi system blocks too many websites so I wasn't able to work on job searches and applications there.
google avatar

Sahar R.

Yelp
My favorite Yemeni coffee shop in Michigan! The drinks are very reasonably priced and I'm so glad they don't overcharge for their service. Taste is out of this world! Service is delightful. They're so kind here and it makes it worth coming back. Good seating options if you want to come as a crowd or get some busy work done. Clean bathrooms! Tbh you can skip the dessert. Mine was a bit cold when I had it and it felt stale. I did come at the end of the day, so maybe that's why it wasn't enjoyable? But still, incredible service makes up for it.
google avatar

Nymisha A.

Yelp
Iced Pistacchio latte is amazing, my husband had iced mufawaar, he said he never thought he'll like coffee with spices but it is surprisingly good. Honeycomb sweet is not for me, it has too much honey. The cafe has plenty of seating. I saw some people working.
google avatar

Jessica W.

Yelp
first time of yemeni coffee. this cute little coffee place was my choice and i am glad i did! customer service on point! delicious coffee and love love love the smell! thank you for the experience.

Yelp
Great place. A nice change from the big S. Some unique coffee flavors and good desserts. A great atmosphere too. I will add Qamaria to my routine.

Yelp
Delicious, full bodied coffee drinks. Very nice menu. Good selection. Service was friendly and prompt. The interior was clean and pleasant. It is rare to find a coffee shop that is open on a Sunday afternoon. We will definitely be returning.
google avatar

George A.

Yelp
The decor is very tastefully laid, tea was good so was the desserts served The baristas were great at explaining the hat are the popular & flavors available to indulge in.
google avatar

Katherine C.

Yelp
Super cute cafe, perfect for studying or meeting friends. I love their matcha and coffees, would definitely recommend the pastries as well.
google avatar

Hannah C.

Yelp
This was my first time at Qamaria Coffee in Commerce and I was super impressed. The staff was nice and the menu is very easy to navigate, breaking down drinks into hot and iced, which I liked. Prices were average, about $6 for my iced latte. The inside ambiance is very comfortable and cozy. Seems like a good place to go and study. There was also an assortment of baked goods and desserts that looked very good, but I didn't try. I got a iced pistachio latte, which was delicious! I would definitely recommend this place and would go back to try some of their other offerings.

Yelp
Qamaria has quickly become our favorite coffee shop in the area and one of our favorite coffee shops in general. Beautiful and clean interior and lovely outdoor seating area so we can bring our dogs along on our coffee dates! Very pretty outside with the mosaic bistro tables and flowers. Also pretty tranquil on any average day - you forget you're at a strip mall right by M-5! Even more importantly, the coffee and pastries are absolutely delicious. My go to is the Qamaria latte with oat milk, which is so yummy in both hot and iced form. The spices that they add to the coffee add a perfect twist on the traditional latte. The honeycomb bread is also my fave. Can't get enough of the stuff and it takes everything in me not to get a second one! My fiancé is a cappuccino loyalist - he orders a cappuccino from every coffee shop we've ever been to (including all over Italy) - and he's said that Qamaria may have the best cappuccino he's ever had! The staff is friendly without being over the top and efficient. It never takes very long for them to deliver our order to our table, and the quality of our coffee/food has been consistent thus far. A+ experience all around!

Yelp
Exotic decoration and friendly staff. Their tea comes with a set of interesting tools of which they have a small candle to keep your tea warm. It is a cozy and quiet place to work. They have plenty of standard outlets and some USB-A/USB-C ports as well. Will come back to try more food/drinks for sure. - Ambiance 10/10 - Cleanliness 10/10 - Barista 8/10 - Working Vibe 10/10 - Internet 8/10 - Noise 8/10 - Coffee 7/10 - Tea quality 8/10 - Tea variety 8/10 - Pastries quality ?/10 - Pastries variety ?/10

Yelp
This cafe has been on our list for a long time. We have been visiting this particular location for a couple decades because it has been many different coffee shops starting with Coffee Caribou, and we enjoy this spot for coffee. We were excited to try this since it is so different from the surrounding shops. We ordered the Mufawaar hot coffee, iced Qamaria latte, and some soft date biscuits. I thoroughly enjoyed the biscuits and iced latte. The cookies had a great taste, and they were only basically $1.5 each (2 for $3). The iced latte had some great spice ,the coffee was good, and had the right amount of sweetness. I did not love the hot coffee. For my taste it did not have enough cream or enough sweetness. You could taste the earthiness of the spice, but it was not something I would order again. I would come back and try something else. Their other desserts looked amazing. I would love to come back for more of those. The individuals working here seemed very kind and knowledgeable. It was very busy, so this place is popular. It was hard to get a seat but we found one. We will be back.

Torrie C.

Yelp
Love this place! Tried the pistachio coffee and it's the most unique and underrated coffee I've had! With the desserts, they're amazing, the honeycomb and the biscoff cheesecake are definitely some favorites! On another note, the staff so are welcoming and kind! Recommend to go!

Monika Z.

Yelp
BOMB pistachio latte, truly the best one I've ever had. The pistachio rose cake was superb. Can't find coffee like this around the area, never mind other states. The place was very cute and tapped into the culture-- which I love!
google avatar

Theresa G.

Yelp
I dreamed about this place for the year we were away. It's part of the reason (OK, maybe a HUGE part of the reason) we can back to visit the Michigan area. If you haven't tried this coffee, you are in for a treat! Come in with cleared expectations, this coffee is so different from anything you've ever had. The spices in the coffee are phenomenal. The staff is kind, the decor is great. Lots of authentic yummy pastries. I recommend the honeycomb and the mufawaar coffee for first timers. Don't come in here for a blueberry muffin and a drip coffee - come in for the full experience. Get a kettle (such a fun thing!) and try something new.
google avatar

Tim C.

Yelp
My first time here and now I'll never be able to drink "plain" coffee again. But seriously, this place does an amazing job of bringing the unique flavors of authentic Middle Eastern coffees to an area where people's palettes have been sheltered by Starbucks and Speedway. Delicious coffees with hints of spices like cardamom, ginger, and others, each in different combinations. Because you're unfamiliar, there's no need to worry about what to try. The barista's here are super helpful and know exactly what to recommend. The menu is also easy to read and highlights what's popular. Contrary to popular belief, the first cup of coffee was brewed in Yemen -- not Seattle. Time to try something new. There are several different seating options, both inside and out. Whether sitting alone or with one or two others, or with/without a laptop, there are several different comfortable seating configurations to accommodate. I applaud this owner and hope it's successful. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
google avatar

Leslie C.

Yelp
Great new coffee place. I love the spices in the Qamaria latte. Way better than plain American lattes. The inside is so clean and bright. Very comfortable. Great place to chill and think. Has outdoor seating too
google avatar

Ariana S.

Yelp
One of my favorite coffee shops in Metro Detroit. Qamaria has everything you didn't know you needed. Honeycomb is amazing. Their Pistachio cake is to die for. You can't leave here without it. Their signature Qamaria latte has the perfect blend of honey and cardamom. The inside is super spacious, there is tons of seating up in the front all the at to the very back. They have wide open windows with lots of natural light which makes it a great place to catch up with people or to sit and study. Love the vibes here great music, great decor. This location is a little better than the one on S. Commerce just because of the space and location but equally as good in quality. This is definitely one of our favorites and it will be yours too when you go
google avatar

Pete S.

Yelp
OMG this place is fabulous! Wonderful coffee and pastries and a warm atmosphere. Very romantic!

Katy S.

Yelp
Love this place. i study here all the time. the cheese honeycomb is very good. i always get matcha or iced coffee.
google avatar

Joe J.

Yelp
Great service, which they bring to your table - whether outside or indoors. The atmosphere is modern, yet comfortable and cozy. The coffee was rich and incredibly flavorful. The variety was wide, but was narrow enough to make a choice on the fly; not overwhelming. It's a great place to taste another culture with unique additions to their drinks that you won't find at Starbucks. I'm very satisfied and will be returning. I would recommend this place to anybody looking for a place to meet with friends, adventurous types and coffee aficionados. You won't be disappointed.
google avatar

Carrie S.

Yelp
Best pistachio latte I've ever had and the vibe is fantastic. May be my new favorite coffee shop!

Riema A.

Yelp
Delicious coffee and desserts with a great authentic Arab inspired interior. The honeycomb is one of the best things I've ever eaten. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
google avatar

Linda D.

Yelp
Our first time here at Qamaria. This place is very beautiful and cozy inside with a nice fireplace, perfect for enjoying your coffee and pastries. Speaking of pastries! Wow! We had the Honeycomb and filo pastries, both drizzled with honey and yummy beyond belief! Generous portions that are ideal for sharing. We both had the Mufawaar coffee, made with cardamom and cream. It is freshly prepared, piping hot and flavorful. This is a gem of a place, so glad we tried it!

Wallace E.

Yelp
Met a friend there ... Had One of the best desserts I've had in years.... Nice atmosphere and service

Mariah C.

Yelp
Ambiance is amazing especially in the winter u get that study by the fire with a hot coffee vibe I have yet to try the in store coffee dining sets for dine in but even take out everything is packaged correctly, desserts are too delicious lol coffee perfect not too strong. Guy working cashier and coffees is super nice as well. definitely recommendation to people who like this.
google avatar

Baian T.

Yelp
Perfect blend of ethnic flavors infused in coffee and tea to produce an experience rooted in authenticity On a hot summer day we stopped in and got iced drinks We stuck with the starred menu items given our inexperience with the menu (Iced Aden + Iced Qamaria) We were extremely pleased with the drinks and loved the peanut bar as it paired nicely We will definitely come back and will definitely recommend to friends
google avatar

Nicole R.

Yelp
Very delicious Yemeni latte! The prices are a bit high but for the delicious taste totally worth it. I like how there is some seating inside and outside but I usually take my drink to go. The people working here are also super nice and friendly, I would definitely visit again. Great addition to the area!

Krista C.

Yelp
I used to love this place , but the new staff need more training on how to make the drinks. the chai is weak and bad tasting, the cups are filled 2/3 only . I keep trying to be patient, but I probably won't go back anymore at the point.

Hadi S.

Yelp
Interesting establishment and I would highly recommend it especially against larger chain coffee shops like starbucks. They do many drinks that you would also be able to get at typical/american cafes as well as arabic style tea. I would say that the service is usually good but at my last trip it seemed like the two baristas were new and unfamiliar with the menu which would be okay but they made me feel uncomfortable while ordering because of this. The men that have been working there for a while are good the two girls weren't necessarily bad but you could tell they were new. I like the vibe but there is limited seating and minimal individual seating for doing work or just going out solo; the place is clean and well kept.
google avatar

Peter S.

Yelp
The Qamaria Latte has good flavor, especially since it has cardamom and cinnamon. The iced version was also not bad, but I think this latte is meant to be consumed hot. The honeycomb was pretty good, but a bit heavy - you might want to share it with others. Overall a good experience :) the place had nice aesthetics too!
google avatar

Tatiana M.

Yelp
Beautiful place, very clean, fantastic customer service, and a beautifully made cappuccino. I would say great for meeting with friends or just reading a book and relaxing.
google avatar

Eliane L.

Yelp
My husband and tried to have a coffee in this place for few times, but it was impossible. All tables were used for students , and it impossible to us sitting and have some coffee and food. So we did buy anything if we cannot stay in the place! The cafeterias should to limit the time for students stay using the tables. Others kind of clients would like to enjoy the place too! Disappointed!
google avatar

Jamie L.

Yelp
Yum! This place is so darn cute and it's a great spot for coffee and maybe a treat. I love the flavor cardamom adds! I tried the pistachio cake and can't wait to go try more.
google avatar

Vivien P.

Yelp
I went back to actually try their tea and sit and sip. And wow, they had tres leches cake that day, which complimented the Aden tea so so perfectly. We loved sitting in the Yemeni-styled seating. There was perfect music playing and perfect lighting.

Brian ..

Yelp
Definitely s different coffee taste and style. I enjoy new experiences and for an adventurous coffee I recommend Qamaria. Different than the typical coffee taste.

Monica J.

Yelp
I love this place. Everyone who works here is very friendly, the drinks are great, and the baked goods are a special treat. I go out of my way to come here every time I'm on this side of town, which is happening more frequently... due to this place.
google avatar

Rachel S.

Yelp
I love this place so much! It truly is the only local coffee shop in the area that is worth while. Their coffee is so wonderful! My favorite is the Qamaria latte! So creamy and delicious!
