14 Best Things to Do in Abu Dhabi | Condé Nast Traveler

"As the oldest stone building in Abu Dhabi, Qasr Al Hosn is one of the city's most significant landmarks. Built at the end of the 18th century, the building's watchtower was the city's first permanent structure, presiding over trade routes. But following an 11-year renovation, it opened in a new iteration, as a cultural center, in 2018. Rotating exhibitions take place in two buildings: the Inner Fort and the newer Outer Palace, which have formerly housed ruling families, the government, and the national archive." - Jenna Scatena

Beautiful historical gem in the city. Surrounded by tall CBD business centers this old castle is gorgeous. We visited early October, it was 35C hot day. Rooms in the castle do not have aircons. Come prepared, grab a fan or smth to keep you cool. Ticket should be purchased in the building next door House of Artisans. Note - they DON’t take cash! House of Artisans is also a great spot to visit.

Nice little tourist attraction downtown. Included in the price was the exhibition at the House of Artisans next door, which was nice too. Should take anyone around 25 mins to enjoy all this place has to offer.

We visited it on Tuesday at the beginning of August around 4 pm and it was empty, quiet but we're not able to see everything as it was too hot. There is no AC and all rooms are open, so better to visit it in winter. Though the museum is beautiful, it's fortress, authentic atmosphere, many historical facts are described on the boards, some audio but a little boring and overrated especially for summer time without AC.

Qasr Al Hosn is a surprisingly well-maintained historic fortress that offers a rich and immersive experience into the history and cultural heritage of Abu Dhabi. The site beautifully blends the old with the new, featuring restored rooms, audiovisual materials, and a modern section where visitors can take their time to read, listen, and learn about the emirate's development and the legacy of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. It provides a detailed timeline of Abu Dhabi’s growth year by year, starting from the early days of the original Qasr Al Hosn, the first palace and fortress built in the area. The entrance fee of 30 AED is well worth it, especially considering the informative and well-curated exhibits. During my visit, it wasn’t too crowded, which made the experience even more enjoyable and relaxing. Tickets were easy to obtain, and overall, it’s a must-visit destination for anyone interested in the historical and cultural evolution of Abu Dhabi.

While it’s an interesting place from a historical perspective (it was after all the home of the ruling family), there’s honestly not much to see on the inside. The way it’s curated is more conceptual and artistic rather than historic. Lots of propagandizing. If you’re not reading the mountains of text, you could easily see everything here within 20 minutes.

Surprisingly well maintained historic fortress with rooms, audio visual materials, modern section where you can take your time, read, listen, learn about historic development of Abu Dhabi and Sheikh Zaeyd bin Sultan al Nahyans legacy. If you want to learn about history of Abu Dhabi, the developments by each year, see the first Qasr Al Hosn, which is historically first palace/fortress there, you are in the right place. Ticket was 30AED, worth the visit

Interesting heritage site in the middle of Abu Dhabi. You can spend hours to explore Abu Dhabi culture in the eẽposition building or pay extra 35 Aed to access to the museum inside the old fort. Dont forget to try the beautiful cafe next to small lake 😍👌

You need to pay 35 AED for entry. Worthwhile to understand the history and culture of Abu Dhabi. Several cultural attractions are around this White Fort Known as Qasr Al Hosn. During Ramadan, in the evenings at the time of sunset- the time of breaking Ramadan Fasting , a short ceremonial single Cannon fire takes place to mark the Iftaar time. Good to watch this. Be 5 minutes before sunset time.
