Grocery Workers Still Face Confrontations While Enforcing Mask Mandates | Eater Portland

"When I worked at a Bethany QFC in 2020 I was told to allow a customer without a mask to use the self-checkout; managers sometimes provided service to unmasked shoppers and holiday crowding — when occupancy wasn’t effectively restricted — was one of the main reasons I quit." - Eater

This QFC is a solid neighborhood grocery store that covers most of my daily needs. The store is clean and well-organized, making it easy to find items quickly. The staff are generally friendly and helpful, which enhances the shopping experience. While some items can be a bit pricier compared to other stores, the convenience and quality often make up for it. The bakery offers fresh and tasty options, and the produce section is usually well-stocked with fresh items. Overall, it's a reliable spot for quick grocery runs.

QFC is a solid grocery store, but it definitely comes with a few trade-offs. The produce section is a real highlight — they have a great selection, and everything looks fresh and well-stocked. It's a reliable place if you're looking for quality fruits and vegetables. That said, prices across the store do feel a little on the high side compared to other grocery options nearby. Also, it seems like products are starting to disappear from shelves faster than they’re getting restocked, which can make shopping frustrating if you're looking for specific items. Overall, it's a good spot for fresh produce and quick trips, but it might not be the best choice if you're trying to stretch your grocery budget or do a full stock-up.

Well maintained store and perfectly located in the middle of the neighborhood. Staff are always nice and they bag the items purchased for us which is like going above and beyond. Kudos to the team.

I come to this QFC almost every day and often shop at the meat market. On 08/22/25 around 6:20 PM, I went to the counter and waited while the employee, Jon, was wiping down some boards in the back. I stood there for a while before saying hello, and he replied that he was busy cleaning. I completely understand the importance of cleaning, but as a customer, I expect at least to be acknowledged and helped in a timely manner. Instead, I felt ignored, which came across as rude. Customers are here to buy products, and service should be a top priority. This is not my first negative encounter with Jon—he often seems bothered by working here, sometimes closing early or showing reluctance to assist customers. If I were management, I would provide him with additional customer service training, as this behavior leaves a poor impression of the store.

Another disappointment. I have attached a photo. Today is June 5, 2025. Last night (June 4, 2025) I opened chicken with a sell by date of June 5, 2025 and the chicken was already bad and not safe for consumption. I went to QFC and spoke with a manager. They will check their refrigeration temperature, but would not offer a credit. I would have been fine with a little more consideration of the issue of buying spoiled chicken, but the response was not satisfying and not given thought and consideration. They have an entire case of this chicken in a special refrigerator right now. I would not buy it. It may or may not have been refrigerated properly for safety and sell by date. QFC self check out... Only three open self checks open. Long lines. Self check called for help when it was time to pay, and checkout supervisor checked the video to see that I scanned the mushrooms. Pretty sure they are testing new technology, but seriously?! Then, the Samsung pay did not work. I had a physical card, but testing new tech that has a negative feeling for customers is NOT the way to roll out something new. I am at QFC nearly every day shopping, and this was frustrating and uncomfortable.

Convenient, has almost everything a fred meyers does, but sheesh is it always busy. So many houses built around this small shopping complex has made it a nightmare.

I just dropped in to get a few things since I was in the neighborhood and I do not know the store. The staff helped me find my items and I was on my way. Nice people.

Store smells like barf, I ordered from the app and got charged 2x on 3 that were buy one get one free. They charged my card $80 the next day. Called in and got it reversed so that was but nice. It was an inconvenience though. Like other QFC store better.
