Google
The food was incredible and service was amazing. We had the ying yang dumplings, honey garlic chicken wings, and sweet and sour chicken. The owner was very nice and personable. We will definitely be coming back!

Google
Pork bun sliders were melty and tender, soup dumplings juicy and delicious, and the dragon dumplings smooth and flavorful, definitely recommend!

Google
I tried their yingyang dumplings 🥟 & cilantro mushroom sui mai. It was good but didn’t completely hit the spot for me. Maybe those weren’t their best or they had an off day in the kitchen - I’d be down to try a different dumpling, the food was pretty decent 4/5

Google
Super cute family run restaurant and very authentic dumplings. Felt so nostalgic. Would highly recommend!!!

Google
I would say 3.5 stars. We had a baby two months back and so cooking at home in the beginning was tough so our friends gave us grubhub as a gift to order food from outside - genius idea! We were feeling like asian cuisine so gave Qi Dumpling a try! Between the two of us we ordered: - pot stickers - garlic noodles - minced pork with braised eggplant Pot stickers were really nice and surprisingly not soggy eventhough this is home delivery - we weren't the biggest fan of the sauce they came with though. Garlic noodles were flavorful, thick and delicious - yummy! I was really excited about the braised eggplant dish but unfortunately it was swimming in oil - major disappointment on this dish, although the pics people have taken at the restaurant itself doesn't seem to be so oily so would love to actually go there and give it another try! All in all it was good food, huge portions (we finished everything but overate) and good pricing. Their location is pretty close to everything so kudos!

Google
Nice selection of dumplings! We tried 3 of the 8 options they had on the menu. My favorite were the soup dumplings

Google
Loved the food and service. Very nice family atmosphere. Food was flavorful, fresh, and not too greaay. Szechuan noodles were so spicy and good!

Google
I ordered the Crispy Noodles Kitchen Sink Style from Uber Eats for $16. Noodles were unevenly cooked. They were burnt on one end, soft and undercooked in the middle, and hard (but not crispy) on the outside. From experience, I think that the oil the noodles were deep-fried in wasn't hot enough- so the noodles turned out hard and dry. Typically the noodles are supposed to be light and crispy to melt in your mouth and soak in the sauce from your dish, but these noodles did not do that. Also, the noodles were packed too tightly hence the slightly raw-tasting center of the noodles. Meat and vegetables were good, but overall dish is a disappointment for $16.

Yelp
I was looking for some good takeout after watching a movie at grand Lake theater, and this was the perfect find! The service was great, and when I walked in on a Saturday night, my food only took 10 minutes to prepare. I walked around the corner to Walden books, so there's plenty to do while you wait for your food if you wanna walk in. The food itself is great! I ordered the wonton dumpling soup, which was filling and tasty also feeling like a lighter soup. I also ordered the scallop and shrimp dumplings, which were delicious! They came warm and ready to eat, but also really easy to reheat as I eat part of the meal later. The person that took my order helped walk me through the menu, and her recommendations are spot on! Will be making this a regular stop

Yelp
I was in the area running errands, so I popped in for lunch. Funky, quirky place, with an interesting menu. Had the chicken and shiitake shumai and the garlic noodles with lamb, as well as a pot of chrysanthemum tea. Everything was good, but the noodles were a little too salty (albeit with a generous portion of lamb). Server was very friendly and engaging, as well as helpful. Worth a second visit, and perhaps more...

Alexa W.

Yelp
Qi never disappoints! Even 10 minutes before closing, I still get my dumplings hot and steamy and with a smile.

Donna H.

Yelp
The dumplings that our group had were so good. We shared 5 dishes and all were good. Prices quite moderate.

Yelp
A true Oakland gem. Family run, amazing food and fair prices. My favorites are the fire cracker wonton, egg rolls (handmade in house, so fresh and crispy) and my daughter loves the wonton soup. The bao bun sliders are also awesome. Fresh, soulful food. Great service, comfortable and clean. And they serve Fat Tire Ale! If you haven't tried it you have to.

Grace A.

Yelp
Daughter recommended this place and no regrets. We ordered Sizzling rice soup with chicken, Pork belly sliders, Big Boss fried rice, lettuce wrap, salt & pepper fish, Cilantro mushroom chicken siu mai and Eggplant and crispy tofu. Sooo yunmy most specially the Pork belly sliders.

Yelp
The dumplings are the bomb. Noodles pretty good too. Everything we've had from this place has been great.

Jake L.

Yelp
I have zero complaints about the food here. More than solid Chinese and dumplings. I got a salad one day -- mistake, my bad -- and sent it back and they took it off the bill. The wonton soup is superior; I also love the people who have served me there, it seemed family-owned, and like they really care about the customer liking the food and experience. Eggplant, pork Szechuan noodles.... Never had something I didn't like (except that salad, but it wasn't lettuce season anyway$!)

Tiff A.

Yelp
Solid takeout! Good price for the amount of meat and veggie you get which is quite rare actually. Garlic noodles with chicken 3.5/5 - love the fat noodles. Good flavor but not garlicky enough, also more like lo mein flavor than garlic noodle flavor. chicken a touch on the drier side. Topped with cilantro and green onions. Comes with some long string beans mixed in. Mongolian beef 4/5 - really good flavor, good chunks of meat. Solid. Basil garlic fried rice 4/5 - good flavor, really like the finely diced veggies. Egg is well cooked. Beef was good. Rice was a touch on the softer side, when I typically prefer a firmer/drier cook on my fried rice I asked for the noodles and rice to be made spicy which they did, but not spicy enough for me, will ask for extra extra spicy next time :P

Yelp
I've been to a million Chinese restaurants like this one. Nothing too unique about QI other than the service was great. The server was helpful with the menu and we didn't feel like we were being rushed to place our order. Sometimes good food and great service is all you need. BB

Isabella B.

Yelp
The wonton soup is so good! Lots of fresh cabbage. Also the firecracker wontons are so yummy.

Steve D.

Yelp
I've been getting takeout from this restaurant for over a month now. I visit a family in the Oakland Lake Merritt area, and the elderly Mom said she likes this place. Also, GrubHub gives me a $10 discount on selected pickups, so why not order takeout? So far, the highlights of my orders have been the Mongolian Beef and Garlic Beef Chow Mein. Also, numerous Dumpling orders. Everyone had an opinion on the food, but here's my take: Mongolian Beef, Grade(5/5): This is the best Mongolian Beef ever! And Mongolian Beef is one of my favorite chinese dishes. This dish had a creamy gravy, with thinly sliced beef. It had just the right heat, and went well with rice. Served with onions and red chilis. Garlic Beef Chow Mein, Grade (3/5): It was just OK. Not alot of spicy garlic flavor. Maybe it's like this as to not overpower an entree. Dumplings, Grade(4/5): I ordered the Potstickers, Cilantro Mushroom Chicken Sui Mai, and Dragon Dumplings. I liked heavy potstickers, and tasty Sui Mai. But the Dragon Dumplings, I won't order again. Yes, it's supposed to have a seafood flavor....but a little too fishy. It was least liked dumpling. So, the overall opinion is the food is great here! And I will return!

Yelp
Just left this restaurant & though I am beyond full, I am excited to go back already. Service was amazing. Super friendly, made recommendations for next time based off what was ordered this time, brought some of THE BEST apricots from their backyard (I've never had one so juicy with such amazing flavor & the perfect sweetness, I know they're not on the menu but I hope you get to try one!) at the end of our visit. The food... I don't know where to begin. I was shocked at how much came out, I thought portions were going to be smaller. We ordered the Ying Yang & Green Dumplings as well as the Soy Glazed Pork Belly Sliders & the Basil Garlic Potato Bites, & everything was beyond delicious. I would order the potatoes again with a group but be aware the dish is large. The green goddess dip that came with it paired unexpectedly well. I couldn't get enough of the Ying Yang Dumplings & was sad I couldn't finish them at the table. The Green Dumplings with their sauce were very earthy in a sweet way, so good. The sliders... wow. I think they might've been my favorite bite, surprisingly. Walked away with another meal's worth of food. All in all, it was a wonderful experience & I cannot wait to go back & try more, possibly off the entree section next time.

Yelp
I ordered food through Uber Eats, and it arrived in terrible condition. A whole box of chicken wings was soaked in the soup from a different item! The delivery driver claimed it wasn't their fault and blamed the restaurant for not packing it properly.

Jdobkin22 ..

Yelp
Absolutely g-r-e-a-t dumplings. I had mine mostly in an excellent wor wonton soup. But other items are good too, Luke the garlic green beans & the firecracker wontons!

Kelly L.

Yelp
Came here for dinner and everything was delicious! Ordered 4 dishes: green beans, Szechuan pork noodles, hot and sour soup with added wontons and the ying yang dumplings. Good portions and pricing, very friendly service. Definitely come support this place! They opened for dine in back in October 2022 and before was takeout only. Will definitely be back!

Lylah S.

Yelp
Great food. Ordered takeout. I like the sizzling rice soup. Hostess was very nice. Would come again.

Frank T.

Yelp
I wish I had come here before I did. This place is legit. We had the wonton soup which is a large portion with 8 humongous wontons. the broths is light and had chopped napa cabbage and cilantro so the flavor was subtle but good. The wontons were packed with pork. It was sooo good. We also had the rice noodle salad with shrimp. The shrimp were large and very tender. Cooked just right with a very light batter. The dressing was light with a slight vinegary taste and very refreshing. I had to have the twice fried pork belly. The order size is generous and full of sliced pork belly. It was served with sliced carrots, cabbage, water chestnuts, thai peppers and slices of jalapeño peppers with seeds in a hoisin based sauce. It was really good. If you eat the peppers you get lots of heat. We ordered wine. And Issac was nice enough to let us know that the bottle had been opened the night before and gave us a chance to reject the wine and he'd open up a new bottle. We didn't reject the bottle, but the gesture was really classy. We're definitely returning.

Erika V.

Yelp
I ordered the wonton soup a couple times now through Grubhub because I am sick with Covid. It has been a lifesaver. So good and super packed with veggies and wontons. I can't wait to be able to come in and have a sit down dinner with my husband. Thank you Qi Dumpling Lounge for nursing me back to health with your soup.

Jude D.

Yelp
I've walked past this place so many times and finally decided to try it. I had the garlic noodles, spicy and with chicken. It was delicious, with freshly cooked jalapeño and Thai chilis. A bit on the greasy side, but that's how I like my garlic noodles. Would definitely come back to try more dishes!

Yelp
This came up on Yelp (of course, right?) and decided to give it a try. There's a parking lot in the rear if you can't find any spots along Grand Ave. Nice interior upon entering. Sat down and my friend and I were given menus. We decided to try a little bit of everything to give us a good idea of their food and whatnot. Went with the Xiao Long Bao (soup dumplings), Fire Cracker Pork Won Tons, Pork Belly Bun Sliders and the Szechuan Pork Noodles. The food came out one by one, which worked out. Soup dumplings had nice texture to them. Stuck to the paper and caused some dumplings to leak out some of the soup when trying to put one onto your spoon or plate. The inside was a bit bland. The Fire Cracker Pork Won Tons were good. Flavorful and a nice bite. The Pork Belly Bun Sliders were probably my favorite thing that we ordered. The pork belly tasted a bit overcooked and was a bit tough to bite into. The buns it came with were nice and soft nonetheless. I went ahead and skipped adding the hoisin on the side. Could have used a little spice maybe? The Szechuan Pork Noodles had a nice bite to them and a decent spice. Enjoyed this for the most part. Overall, the service was great. Super nice. The food was okay. Nothing that wow'd me necessarily.

Maya N.

Yelp
Wonderful family owned business and kind staff- the food is absolutely delicious and 100% worth trying if you haven't already! I recommend this place to everyone and is one of my top go-to restaurants for a meal that I know will not disappoint. Great spot with great food.

Nicole S.

Yelp
We've been coming to Qi since they opened. As of two weeks ago, they were still takeout only. We can't wait until this place reopens for dine in because as good as the dumplings are, they're even better when they first come out. Being a dumpling house and a dumpling lover, I wish there were more options. They have six dumplings to choose from that range from $10-12. They also serve soups, appetizers/tapas, veggies, rice dishes, and noodles. OUR FAVORITES: *Ying Yang Dumplings - These pork and chive dumplings are delicious and served with a jalapeno soy sauce for dipping. For to-go orders, be sure to ask for extra because the containers are tiny. *Big Boss Fried Rice - I LOVE their fried rice because it not only includes fried rice but also glass noodles. *Soy Glazed Pork Belly Sliders - The pork belly was marinated and cooked perfectly. The baos were so nice and fluffy! THINGS TO KNOW: *Credit cards are accepted *Street parking *Vegetarian options are available *Beer and wine available

Yelp
Qi Dumpling Lounge is where Bangkok Palace was. interior space may be similar. no indoor seating now. outside space available when permitted. offerings: tapas, dumplings, soups, salads & greens, specials, noodles, desserts, fried rice, beverages. eats: tomato beef chow mein (13) -not the cantonese version, noodles not pan fried, looks like spaghetti (boiled, thick & round). -tomato beef flavoring is similar to cantonese sauce, nice tender beef slices with fresh tomatos & tomato flavored sauce.

Mark M.

Yelp
My wife and I came here before seeing a movie at the Grand Lake Theater. There was only one table seated with a few people, they seem to be mainly doing takeout. For inside seating they are still practicing social distancing, vaccine checks and masks when walking through the restaurant. Fine by us. For food we got three dishes. Shanghai Soup Dumplings are little bao served with a vinegar sauce. These were light and fluffy. Not too filling but tasty. We also got Soy Glazed Pork Belly sliders. These were little sandwiches you fill yourself with crispy and scrumptious Pork Belly and pickled cucumbers. The bun was soft and pillowy which was a good contrast to the pork. We also got Garlic Noodles with added shrimp. This was my favorite dish we got. We are garlic lovers and there was plenty of that, the noodles were thick and chewy in a good way, there were green beans, scallions and then the added shrimp was a good meaty contrast. After finishing all our food we wanted one more dish. The waiter (who possibly is the owner as well?) suggested potstickers which were fresh made. They came out blazing hot. We didn't care for the dipping sauce it came with but otherwise it was another awesome dish. Definitely the best Potsticker I've had. Overall all fours dishes we had were 5/5. I could have eaten all of them by myself they were so good.

Eva S.

Yelp
Delicious food and excellent service. Loved the dragon dumplings, salt and pepper shrimp and dry braised string beans. I'll definitely be back.

Mindy L.

Yelp
The Green Dumplings are AMAZING. Best veg dumplings I've ever had and can't recommend enough.

Nicole C.

Yelp
Wow, straight up horrible tasteless salt and pepper wings. Just look at the photo, I had these wings years ago and they were atleast decent. Total waste of $14. The guy who was working there was very unfriendly when I went to pick up the order, I barely said a word and he was just a total JERK! Just quit if you hate your job!

Mister M.

Yelp
Great dumplings! The shrimp and scallop dumplings were my favorites, but the Green Dragon spinach and mushroom dumplings were a close second. The chicken and pork "ying yang" dumplings were also fantastic. The staff were friendly and quick. Prices were reasonable. Portions were generous. I like this place a lot, and look forward to returning. They do have beer and wine available, which was omitted from the third party online menu I found, which I was happy to see. The cold Tsingtao beer was a perfect complement to the meal.

Jackie N.

Yelp
This place is perfect for our kids. When my son comes here he eats a whole order of dragon dumplings on his own. This is family owned restaurant and their dumplings and noodles are I would encourage everyone to order the dragon dumpling and the veggie potsticker. This is probably the best potsticker wrapping texture I have had. It is a must!

Valerie C.

Yelp
Had amazing house made dessert from the manager, it was incredible!! Highly recommend to go to this place, the dessert is a hidden menu, make sure you ask the sever about it!!

Kyla D.

Yelp
This place is great! I loved the veggie pot stickers (perfectly crispy and not at all bland like some veggie pot stickers), the green beans, and the Sichuan pork noodles. Everything was fresh, lovingly prepared, and full of flavor. We also had some of the warmest and good-natured service I've had in a long time. I can't believe it took me so long to come here and I can't wait to come back!

Saloni M.

Yelp
Excellent service!!! Super nice people. I came in to dine in and forgot I had to be somewhere. The person working quickly prepared my check, switched my order for to go, and packed it so it would not get soggy! Seriously nicest people! Also everything is hella fresh tasting. I have never had a veggie dumpling with more spinach - so yum. And the onion pancakes are flaky and crispy!!

Alexander C.

Yelp
The pork buns, fried beef, and firecracker dumplings were truly the MVP. HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend this place!

Odie O.

Yelp
Green dumplings are great comes with a sweet sauce too yum tomato beef crispy chow mein is my favorite so perfect so yummy! soup dumplings are ok priced cheap service is excellent i like the dark decor place is clean overall as well

Chiara J.

Yelp
My partner and I were actually on our way to grab sushi when we stopped into Qi. A rainy Saturday afternoon so it was pretty empty but we were SUPER hungry so that worked for us. The hostess got us seated really quickly and took our drink orders (they were out of a few wines unfortunately). We ended up ordering the coconut shrimp, dragon dumplings, pork belly sliders, and ginger lamb. Everything was delicious and so fresh! My favorite was definitely the dragon dumplings. Something about that kick of wasabi is really top tier! My only complaint was table size and lack of wine available, but I'm sure the food would be equally as delicious in takeout form. Maybe we'll try that next time.

Gretchen Z.

Yelp
Excellent food, great service, cute restaurant with plenty of space for a large party.

Velonda H.

Yelp
Qi Dumpling lounge is a gem everything is delicious the service is great very kind crew working there I love the hot and sour soup I never had it with black vinegar it took it to a whole other level of deliciousness, and of course the dumplings are so flavorful I love the red vinegar for dipping again never had that before. Can't wait to try more!

Raisin B.

Yelp
We went to check out Qi after a long day of errands and being out in the cold. Had the Salt and Pepper fish, so many orders of soup dumplings, and a few beers. It was perfect. It's a non-fussy place but attentive service. A real gem on Grand

John L.

Yelp
I love Dim Sum, and one of my favorite things to eat are Soup Dumplings and Potstickers. I order these everywhere, and use them as a barometer for quality. Decent place, good location, not good service... Let's get on to the food... We ordered the Su Mai, Soup Dumplings, Potstickers, Green Onion Pancake, and string beans. They were all good; nothing outstanding, but good... They were all fresh made, the Su Mai were some of the better ones in Oakland. The Soup Dumplings and Potstickers could have used more aromatics (ginger, garlic) in the filling and were a bit bland. The string beans were very good, and the pancake was nice too. I have eaten Soup Dumplings all over the place, and they are usually served with Black Vinegar and shredded ginger. I asked for these, and my server acted like I insulted him. I informed that is how they are usually served, and asked for those items. He continued to justify why he did not serve them that way, although acknowledging that is how they should be served. He refused to try and get those items for me even after 3 attempts. My server acted like he had forgotten he was in the service industry, continued to convince me that I did not need those items, and made no attempt to get them for me. After talking to him, I found out he was the owner. Wow! I could not believe he would be unhelpful. So service here is bad... the owner is too wrapped up in his own ego, and places that can't accommodate a customer's simple request like this should shut their doors; or get better servers... Therefore I am docking 1+ star... The decor was simple, and contemporary. A nice simple setting, more open than the typical Chinese restaurant. It was clean, and so were the bathrooms... The parking could be an issue as it's location is right on Grand, but we walked there... I may try it again, but honestly my interaction with the owner makes me reticent. Be warned!

Rachel M.

Yelp
My family and I just watched a food show about dumplings and of course we had to get some for dinner. I knew just the spot that served good quality dumplings with no msg. The menu had so many things but we honed in on a variety of dumplings (green - spinach and mushroom, dragon- seafood, and chicken and mushroom sui Mai), the dry braised spicy green beans and the garlic shrimp rice noodle salad special. It was the perfect amount of food to leave the 4 of us satisfied. Everything was delicious! I especially liked the noodle salad and the fresh homemade taste of the dumplings. Service was very attentive and the ambiance was pleasant. The bill was around $15 per person, which is normally a bit higher if we were to get dim sum but this was definitely higher quality. Will definitely be back!

Nicky H.

Yelp
This place is so good! I got some shumai and other things but their service was sooo quick and the workers were very nice as well I got greeted and seated as soon as I walked in, my food came fast hot and ready to eat the quality was really top tier! The ambiance of the place was relaxing and laid back and not too bright inside either. I will definitely be back!!

Angela S.

Yelp
Pork n chive dumplings are so nasty. Don't waste ur time or hard earned money. Dumplings tasted like toilet water was used.

Larry L.

Yelp
Take out only until September 1, per sign in restaurant! Weird, because tables are vividly set.

Jenn W.

Yelp
Noticed this new(er) spot while running errands on Grand. Only done takeout a few times but each time was solid. I grew up eating homemade dumplings/potstickers (in Taiwan) so I'm not easily impressed witt just any old dumpling place! I give this spot my stamp of approval + like. Also have had various noodles and fried rice dishes here and it's all good.

Kelly M.

Yelp
I've since eaten their food and it's good. The decor still is not great so to-go is all I've done, and pricing seems a bit high, though that is the bay.

Mary S.

Yelp
Decided to grab a quick bite after we shopped at IKEA and found this place, it looked pretty good. We ordered pork soup dumplings (were not great) we only had 3 of them, Hawaiian fried rice (nothing special, but was the best part of our order), and grab Rangoon (there was no crab, only cream cheese). We were not very happy with our order. The customer services wasn't great either, the person who took our order was a bit rude and didn't provide any napkins, soy sauce, or cutlery. Not the best experience, will not be back.

Michelle L.

Yelp
Came here to order takeout on a late Saturday afternoon and was pleasantly surprised! I ordered an order of the dragon dumplings and yin yang dumplings and salt and pepper chicken wings. The dumplings came with 10 each and both came with special soy sauce (jalapeño soy sauce, chili soy sauce). My favorite of the 2 are the yin yang dumplings because I personally love chives in dumplings but the dragon dumplings were good too. The salt and pepper chicken wings on the other hand were just mediocre. The oder came with two paper bowls and forks which was nice considering we could eat outside if we wanted to. Overall would recommend if you're in the Oakland area and craving dumplings but not to die for.

Bernadette R.

Yelp
Tried this place for the first time and I'd highly recommend. We called for pickup and it was very organized. We ordered: Firecracker Pork Wontons Ying Yang Dumplings Potstickers Mongolian Beef All of the dumplings were so juicy and the jalapeño soy sauce was delicious! The Mongolian beef was some of the most tender I've ever had and would absolutely order again!
