"Run by fourth-generation owners, this 70-plus-year-old family business is usually full of regulars. The dining room is plainly furnished, but customers don’t come for the ambiance, but the authentic Jiangzhe classics such as pork trotter aspic, drunken chicken and stir-fried swamp eel. Steamed-to-order xiao long bao boast thin, translucent skin and soupy pork filling. The take-out counter offers quick service for those on the go." - Michelin Inspector

We had dinner here when we stayed in Taichung for one night. We didn’t make a booking but they were able to fit us in. Great service and well-prepared and delicious food. The main store is currently being refurbished but they have moved the restaurant next door temporarily. Booking is recommended and don’t forget to bring enough cash when you dine in.

Saw it on the Michelin Guide and went to try but was Dissapointed by the taste.Maybe its personal or something else. Go there early because theres a long line waiting to try. Staff was patient and service is good. Price wise was pretty okay given the amount of food we tried. Taste wise was pretty mediocre. Fried rice was warm and does not taste like it was fresh. Sweet and sour pork was just okay and doughy. Xiao Long bao was nice but i prefered the crab roe version. They only accept cash so prepare some proabbly 2k taiwan money.

Have high expectation of this place. And the best dish, personally, was their chili oil with black bean. :).(had to buy it home cos it was really yum). 2nd best dish was the rib and 3rd was the filling of their red bean bun. I think the problem is there dough made of sourdough that left a bit of raw flour taste, (both for xiao long Bao and bun). Staffs were very nice. And u need to make reservation.

First of all, you need to make a reservation before visiting this place. The food overall is delicious but on the pricier side. The steamed dumplings are particularly noteworthy, with a delicious soup inside. I especially enjoyed the sweet and sour pork, which was very tender. Surprisingly, I also liked the pig kidney; it wasn't too gamey and had a chewy, fresh texture.

Not sure how it was able to achieve 4 years Michelin. The quality of food was truly disappointing. We ordered the pork chop fried rice and rose bun. Pork chop was poorly fried with a lot of fat to meat ratio. The rice had a lot of burnt wok that was mixed with it. It really pales in comparison to Din Tai Fung when we expected it to be of similar or better quality. Rose bun was super sweet, you can literally taste the sugar plus they added some syrup. For the price not worth it at all. Won’t come again. Best dish was the tea.

Superb experience! We couldn’t made reservation via google so we try our luck as we have limited time in Taichung. After understanding our situation, the counter lady allowed us in even though they are closing at 2pm. They served us patiently and recommended their signature dishes ( delicious except the pork rib fried rice where pork rib is soft not our favourite, the sea cucumber is a must-try) and allowed us to enjoy our meal without rushing us. Thumbs up for their great service 👍👍👍

Reservation is must as it gets really crowded at peak dinner hours. Very tasty authentic Shanghainese food. Glad we made it here. Portion seemed slight small for the price. But quality made up for it.

Very good services and high quality food! We missed our trip to Feng Chia Night Market and need to have a quick dinner before we leave Taichung on our scheduled HSR. Chanced upon this restaurant but we did not make any reservations. Thankfully, the staff did not reject us, and helped to provide seats for us. Food was served very quickly and quality was very good too! Our night in Taichung ended on a very good note thanks to this restaurant. Highly recommend this restaurant! 10/10!
