It's very beautiful and it's an enormous park. The areas around the entrances get very busy and crowded but luckily you can start going up the mountain and the crowds thin out a bit. Still plenty of people up there but not shoulder to shoulder like near the entrances. There's plenty of bathrooms and cafes but not many restaurants. I went during the autumn when the Japanese maples turn bright red. They are everywhere and very pretty. The "hiking trails" on the map are actually just a series of boardwalks and stairs. There is no real natural areas here like you'd find in a park in the western world. The views from the top of the mountain aren't particularly beautiful though. In the summer and the winter it is much less crowded.
