The Best Restaurants in Richmond, CA | Eater SF

"Part kebab-and-falafel house, part no-frills takeout pizza operation, Q’s Halal Pizza — the only pizza-focused spot in the local Q’s mini-chain — serves some of the best pies in Richmond, thanks in part to its kebab house–inspired topping combinations, like the fantastic Mama Mary’s (pepperoni, gyro meat, and red onion). Not in the mood for pizza? You can also get a traditional kebab or falafel plate, or chow down on a big order of some of the East Bay’s most succulent chicken wings." - Eater Staff

The Best Chicken Wings in Oakland and the East Bay | Eater SF

"Here’s a good rule of thumb: If a restaurant specializes in some non-Western take on pizza — if it serves Indian pizza or Mexican pizza, and so on — there’s a pretty good chance it also does a bang-up version of fried chicken wings. Take Q’s Halal Pizza, which serves some of the best pizza in Richmond, thanks in part to its kebab house–inspired topping combinations, like a pie with pepperoni, gyro meat, and red onions. But its succulent, well-seasoned wings are the real star, available in a spicy sauce-soaked version and, even better, one that’s just slathered with an intensely flavorful dry rub." - Janelle Bitker

I really only came out here for the world famous "Mitchell Ice cream" that was for 18 a pop. Great place with nothing but kind people that is always awalys so helpfull. I can't speak on anything else that they serve at this location, but if you're looking for the best ice cream, this is one of the spots.

I always wanted to try this place. Why did I wait so long? Halal pizza intrigued me. A pizza and ice cream shop intrigued me. The name Q intrigued me—hopefully it’s not associated with that other Q….. They have mediterranean food. So I guess they put some that on top of the pizza and YUMMM!!! Who knew lamb could be so good on pizza! I think it’s like lamb kabob. Or is it lamb kebap? Or is it gyro? But it’s gooooood! It’s a good pizza. The strength is in the topping selection. You kinda just gotta go and check it out. Limited seating. Free parking on the street. Close to freeway. Easy walk to lots of other shops and services. Super friendly service. If you eat specially prepared food like halal for Muslim or other reasons, but you love pizza, this place is for you. He said all the meet is hand cut. I didn’t check out the bathroom. I’ll go back. It’s already like my second favorite pizza around. Too bad they don’t have gluten free GF for my wife allergic to gluten. If you choose to give a thumbs-up 👍🏽 or not, I hope you found my review helpful!

Google
Best pizza, size is very big but it’s a little bit pricy!

Google
I ordered the chicken gyro today and it was full of flavor! When I walked in the owners were very welcoming and friendly. I was able to place an order for pick up during my lunch hour and it was ready by the time I got there. Will definitely be returning with friends and family.

Google
I used to always come here and the pizza was always good! Came here about a week ago and I think there’s new owner. Order the pizza I always get “halal pepperoni” there’s was barely any meat on there. I tried it and the pizza tasted weird the cheese tasted spoiled as well.

Google
Waffle fries, waffle fries, waffle fries. They were so warm and crispy. And my flafel wrap in warm pita was great! Nice crunchy flafel with veggies and spicy chutney. Really good. This place was awesome find for the area.

Google
We ordered Combo plate and chicken biryani. The customer service was very bad. (Note to the restaurant - When you bring the food to the customer please check with them if they need anything or how the food is. Care about what customers have to say, request or need anything. There was zero communication after food was brought to our table. Biggest complaint: Chicken Kabab cubes were totally uncooked. $19.99 for the combo plate is as it is expensive and if it's uncooked it's totally not worth the money. We had to throw away the Chicken. Chicken biryani rice was over cooked and watered down. It was still edible. Food was expensive. Around $39 for two small size plates(chicken biryani and combo plate) So this rating is for very bad customer service and over priced uncooked food. Will never go back there again. 😒

Google
Ordered the large combo pizza and chicken bowl. My family LOVED it. The bowl was very tasty, sauce was incredible and pizza was cooked perfectly. Pizza was much bigger than I thought it would be. Will definitely be coming back

Yelp
I've had Q's several times now. I've tried their gyro wrap as well as their pizza. The gyro was great, and with the waffle fries it's an excellent meal. But that pizza, so good. Super thin, and gets nice and crispy when tossed in the oven. I'm a fan of the Mary's pizza. Having gyro meat on a pizza is one of those combinations that makes you wonder why more places don't offer it. It's a family run joint as well, which is always preferred over chains. What seals this place as a bonafide 5 star joint is they carry Mitchell's ice cream, aka the GOAT. Now, if only they'd make a tikka masala pizza...

Yelp
Wanted to update my review since it's been 3 yrs. This place is under new ownership and it's still amazing. None of the items I ate tasted any different than they did with the previous owners 3 yrs ago--which was a pleasant surprise. They are a very hard working small business that has also incorporated Mitchell's ice cream on the other half of the restaurant. So glad I don't need to go to SF and stand in that line when there's no line here for the same ice cream. Overall, I highly recommend you check them out and my favorite thing to get is the Lamb/Beef Mixed Quesadilla.

Yelp
Absolutely disgusting ! I have had a pizza here many years ago and it was good. Tonight it was horrible . 1 hour delivery for a cold, raw dough/crust flavorless mess.. after trying to finish cooking it, It found the garbage can where it belongs. Thankfully, grub hub refunded my payment.
google avatar

Troy M.

Yelp
Average quality they usually mess something up. The pizza is too cardboardy even for cardboard pizza's sake.
google avatar

Yelp
Orders the chicken Tikka Masala plate and the Gyro plate.... Food was really good just the right amount of spices... in addition they have Mitchell's ice cream from San Francisco. Great service!

Yelp
Just wanted to say that Q's Halal Pizza is still amazing!!! I order on the phone and pick up. There is always street parking available right in front to park and run in. Pizza is always ready when they say it will be and service is always kind and with a smile. When I mentioned before that they have a good sized pizza I meant it! Their small is 14" (normal smalls are around 10" I think). Medium is 16", they also offer large and extra large! I got my usual - pepperoni (beef), mushroom and pineapple. Yes, pineapple. So good!! Note the pricing is slightly increased from what I see online but still worth it in my opinion! Thanks Q's Halal! See you next time!

Yelp
I'm from the El Sobrante area and was craving pizza, but I hate always going to franchise places because they never have beef pepperoni. I finally looked up a local pizza place and found Halal Pizza! The pizza is really good especially the beef pepperoni on it, definitely will be going back for pizza and to try other options they have on the menu! Only reason I gave a 4 is because I love thicker dough for the crust and they make thin crust pizza, and it's hard to find parking on the street, always full in that area when I'm there.

Phillip S.

Yelp
Excellent service , food is always hot and fresh ,portion size is on point definitely worth every penny

Maya S.

Yelp
My first time trying a chicken gyro and it was really good! I'll definitely be back for the good food and quality service. They offered my toddler a free ice cream and bottled water which I thought was very nice considering the heat lately. It made the wait for food with two kids that much easier.

Yelp
This place is open for dining in. Not super fancy place, but pretty good. I have had chicken wrap with fries. Meat was super delicious and there were only fresh veggies in the wrap. Also I really liked the fries. Come check this place out if you are looking for a good halal place.

Patricia B.

Yelp
This local treasure could become my new go-to halal place. We ordered a wide variety of entrees and everything was delicious. We especially liked the lamb, which was melt in your mouth! The Samosas were delicious and the condiments (tzatziki and green chutney) were perfectly balanced and tangy. Good sized portions and the couple running the restaurant were very kind and accommodating. I didn't try the pizza, but it looked so good! Next time I will also save room for Mitchell's ice cream (available by the scoop or half-gallon).

Fatima F.

Yelp
The food was amazing and the service was just top tier and the place overall was really clean and nice especially the owners amazing people definitely come stop by!!

Yelp
Great food! They have friendly service. A great local restaurant. Not only their pizza is good but their wraps are also great.
google avatar

Yelp
The pizza was fresh and hot and tasted pretty good! Definitely recommend giving it a try. It looks like a family owned business which means they care about providing good customer service and producing quality product. Will be back!

Yelp
I am allergic to pork and haven't had a pepperoni pizza in almost 7 years, so I was so excited to find this place. I always get the pepperoni pizza and wings. It is very good and the staff is very friendly!

Francesca H.

Yelp
Great quality of food... everything on menu is worth a try. Pick up us fast but parking sucks.

Dave P.

Yelp
I'm glad I took the food to go. The felafel and grilled chicken dishes were yummy, but the restaurant is close to the street and looks like it hasn't been attended to/improved in decades.
google avatar

Sean M.

Yelp
Service was super friendly; food came out fast and was delicious. Lots of falafel for the money!

Yelp
So good! I had an excellent experience with halal pizza at another juke joint in Berkeley and when we had a pizza craving one Friday night, my guy and I opted to try this place to see if the common denominator to bomb pizza is the halal life. This was one of the smartest decisions we've made since getting a dog. It was that good. So we ordered a half pep, half cheese pie that seemed somewhat pricey but hey, ya get what you pay for... Mostly. Add this to the list of times I've been glad I spent a few extra bucks to have quality put first. Plus, the pizza was a little larger than I expected, which made up for the price. But don't worry, that pizza being somewhat massive didn't prevent us from chowing 'til we met cardboard. Oh, and they've got more than pizza, too. Wraps and whatnot. I might try one next time, but to be honest I'll probably be tempted by the tantalizing taste of a big ol' halal slice.

Rich F.

Yelp
Friendly enough. Food was fine. Better than Falafel Hut in San Rafael, but a step down for Babalous in Walnut Creek.
google avatar

Verenice B.

Yelp
Kinda wish their pizza wasn't so HUGE, sooo much food and the pizza is on the pricey end, but you do get a lot if pizza for like $26 I highly recommend their lamb gyro pizza! The flavor is So good, I had it twice the first month I had it. Got a wrap once also, didn't love it. I stick to the pizza. Might try some wings one time, but always pizza :)

Erhan K.

Yelp
Me and my family been together, pizza is delicious and friendly place. They need to pay attention for more clean tables and restroom area
google avatar

Kevin W.

Yelp
This is my favorite pizza spot and I always stop by when I'm in the area. Super thankful they are open during the pandemic and I love supporting our local small businesses. I get the combo pizza everytime i'm here and their portions are huge. I was hesitant at first to try lamb on pizza, but now I'm hooked on it. Funny story, I brought home a large pizza to share with all my cousins and they thought the lamb was just a tasty sausage, didn't know what it really was. Ingredients are fresh and pizza is always mouth watering. Haven't had their gyros or other dishes yet, but i'll get it in the future and post an update
google avatar

Rubén S.

Yelp
Really good pizza. Excellent service. Owner is really nice. I had the combo pizza with lamb and it was tasty. Wound go back to try other stuff on the menu.
google avatar

Savannah P.

Yelp
The food here is very good. The parking is dicey, but the food is worth it. If you like left of center pizza, this is your place. They have things on pizzas that you don't normally see and it's actually very tasty.

Mohammed D.

Yelp
This restaurant is a hidden gem! It's not so famous and well known as other Halal restaurants in the Bay Area. Anyways I was driving past and was hungry, so I checked HFSAA's website to see if any restaurants in Richmond area are certified and found this restaurant, (I only go to certified restaurants) so I went there and Boy I was in a for a surprise. The Pizza was phenomenal!! The pizza was phenomenal! Make sure you go try it!!! They have many other items also plus they are not as expensive as other places while giving good quality food at the same time! I really appreciate them being HFSAA, as I only go to those restaurants certified by HFSAA! Thanks

Yelp
Came in at 7:30, they said they were closed even though they don't actually close at 8... but we were still able order some gyros. Two chicken gyro meals included side of either waffle cut fries or salad and a drink. Extra $4 for combo/meal, so $12 each meal. The gyros were tasty. It was fresh and smelled delicious! I like the acidity from their green sauce. Too bad we didn't get any white sauce since we had to order to go. Overall, I was pleased and I'll be coming back to try their other menu options. However, just wished they stayed true to their hours.

Yelp
Let me start by saying that when I first walked in I was welcomed by the owner it's a family owned restaurant and they definitely don't make you feel like a customer but more like a family friend. We ordered a LG veggie pizza and it was by far the best pizza cheesy and thin crust was nice and golden it's was just perfect ! Also we ordered a chicken Philly sandwich and some samosas a mango lassi and everything was spot on I was very impressed with the quality of the food this is a gem I will be going back to definitely a great place to come with friends and enjoy some great food !
google avatar

Pam N.

Yelp
I used the Order Pickup option and prepaid online. So, I just had to walk in, give my name and walk out with a piping hot pie. There's limited seating so expect to take it to your car. I got a small Combo pizza ($24 with tax) that typically consists of lamb gyro, pepperoni, tomatoes, mushrooms, onions and bell peppers. I nixed the bell pepper in the bud because bell peppers are obnoxious and they dominate the flavor profile in any dish they are found in. No thanks pepper. A small pizza could definitely feed 3 hungry people. It was much larger than I thought it would be and felt I got a great deal. Crisp thin crust that's a bit more stable than Mod pizza crusts (I can't stand their wimpy crusts). Generous helping of toppings that were scattered to the edge of the pie. I wish it had more of a thicker crust edge, but I am a carb pig. Will definitely return to pick up pizza on the way home.

Yelp
Been getting pizzas here for years. Seems like it's run by new people now. Ordered a pizza an hour ago and I'm still here.. waiting... still no pizza. *Update* I got my pizza an hour late. Tasted good.
google avatar

Yelp
I love this place great price for a huge pizza !! My partner enjoys the gyro with so amazing flavors packed in it ! thank you !

Ronald C.

Yelp
This place had good food but I do t understand why half the items that they sell don't appear on their munu board or online.
google avatar

Yelp
Honestly, my fav restaurant atm. Honest, clean food and people! Sean said "I don't want to give the jelabi because it's a few days old" and I've been a big fan since! Their beef pepperoni pizza is quality beef Delivery: ordered directly and received delivery in a timely manner. I'd rather support local this way than to continue to deal with mess-ups from the delivery apps

Yelp
Opah! I've been craving LAMB gyro for a week now! For some reason lamb gyro is hard to find. Guess not many Greeks in Bay Area??? I had to go to a Halal place to grab a decent lamb gyro! But I'm not complaining... it was freaking delish! I ordered on line (Grubhub) It was ready when I finally found a spot on San Pablo. My only complaint was it was cold when I got home with take out order. That could have been partially due to my taking 10 min to park da whip. Quick easy and friendly service. Let's talk about the gyro.... not the thin long strips of pre fab meat some folks offer. The meat was cubed in 1 inch pieces, and they pilled it high. The yogurt sauce was a smooth, lemony, creamy cool accompaniment to the briny spicy lamb along with cube strips of tomato and cucumber for some crunch. Also had some red onion, lettuce with parsley as well. It amalgamated into a powerful combo packed in a fluffy pita and rolled over and wrapped in foil. Fantastic! It's close to Ikaros that used to be on Wisconsin Ave in Georgetown (DC). A buddy and I would grab those and bike ride along C&O canal to the Mall, and chow down drawing very jealous stares. Similar construction and flavah. I think they toasted the pita prior tho. The fries were cut crisscross waffle style. A bit soggy and cold, again from my late arrival I'm sure. But the order was HUGE and packed potato-e goodness. So if you are craving a gyro with lots of flavor, rivaling anything you can find in the Bay, East coast or Greece for that matter... Head to Richmond... in dah hood... and pray for parking car-ma Stin ygeiá sas!

Yelp
Q's Halal Pizza: A hidden gem in Richmond. One of the best halal pizza and gyro spots in the bay that has lots of variety. My personal favorite is the Mama Mary's pizza, which comes with lamb gyro, pepperoni, and red onions. The value and size of the pizza is excellent given the affordable pricing. I'm also a major fan of the quesadilla, which has a nice Desi twist to it. Located down the street from Masjid-al-Rahman in Richmond, I visit this place pretty often and have tried many of their items, which almost never disappoint. The restaurant management is very friendly and have always been open to customer suggestions for improving the experience. Oh and did I forget to mention that they're HFSAA Certified? I'd highly recommend if you're near the area and are looking for an unforgettable experience.

Yelp
A few days ago, I asked my Boo Bear to get 2 baklava from Qs. He entered and they thought he was at the wrong place and wanted to sneaker shoe store next door. I guess he didn't seem like their typical customer. Well, they were further surprised that he asked for baklava because it wasn't on the menu, but they had a secret stash and sold him two stating, "You have to come back for a pizza." Fast forward to Memorial Day, we ordered the largest medium pizza ever. It was the size and price of an extra large at Round Table. Don't be deterred by the price and think it's a lot for a medium because it is well worth it. We ordered Mama Mary's [thin crust pizza with lamb gyro, beef pepporini, and red onion]. I would have liked a tad bit more sauce, but I like that they keep the integrity of the thin crust by conservatively saucing. Delicious! This is a hole-in-the-wall take out restaurant. Street parking is available, best after 5pm, but during the day it is hard to find. They also sell gyro wraps and bowls, which we hope to try next.
google avatar

Mariana D.

Yelp
Convo pizza is a must For $21 you can purchase a small pizza "16 which would be an X-large at round tables or mountain mikes for about $32 Unbelievable deal The pizza had about 16 slices + extremely cheesy- awesome tomato sauce and gyro lamb !!! I mean it tastes like sausage but it's lamb!!! Annnd I asked if they can make 1/4 of the pizza cheese ( mort places only do 1/2 and 1/2) I'm never going back to round tables ever !
google avatar

Atif J.

Yelp
One of my favorite halal pizza joints in the bay. The pizza is always bigger than the size you pay for. It is always thin. And always crispy. Pictured here is a medium that is 1/2 mama mary and 1/2 combination. It tastes like homemade desi pizza aka pija. Maybe that's why its so good? Workers r friendly and recently they have expanded to include the place next door. Must visit!
google avatar

Rizam N.

Yelp
Here's the thing I loved coming here before and the pizza and everything else was phenomenal but here's the thing. Apparently the ownership of the shop changed and with it so did the quality of food. It's quite apparent to see they lack the skill it takes to run a good business. Now I may be premature here as there may be room for improvement but from this one encounter with the new owners but for the time being I am more than disconcerted over this establishment giving supbar food. Now I gave an extra star only as I used to like coming here but after this terrible experience I'm afraid I will have to find a new halal spot to enjoy tastes qualified to meet my palate.

Moiz Q.

Yelp
Love the food, have been coming here for years. Quality is top tier, never gets old. My favorite pizza combo is pepperoni, olives, and jalapeños! You've got to try it. I literally have nothing to complain about. If I had one request, it would be for the prices to come down a bit. Every time I come it feels like it gets a bit more expensive but whenever I take one bite of the food I forget about cost
google avatar

Mayalyn L.

Yelp
I have tried the chicken plate, hummus, and Philly sandwich and my fav was the sandwich. I go for the plate when I want a healthier option. The food has a lot of flavor and is very fresh. Would recommend trying if you haven't yet.
google avatar

Yelp
was a old time customer since they had the shoe store next door & now with the remodel & new food options. i definitely enjoy coming in! Eid Mubarak!

Yelp
Great pizza!! I got the mama Mary and can't wait to have it again! The owners are also so hardworking and nice

Yelp
I was coaching at a basketball tournament at Salesian, and had a couple hours in between. Did a quick search on Yelp and lucked out in finding Q's. Looking for the place and then a spot to park, it's a little bit sketchy of a neighborhood. But that's where some of the best restaurants are situated. When I got there, the owner and his daughter were working. I told them it was my first time and what would they recommend. The daughter recommended the chicken gyro, the dad recommended the beef/lamb gyro, so I went with that. I told them I wanted to see if it was really 5 stars, if it was, I would review them and if not, I wouldn't, because I don't wanna be the guy that ruins their perfect rating lol. Well to my pleasant surprise, I was able to confirm it was a legit 5 stars. Very high quality ingredients, fresh, attention to detail in the preparation and presentation. Even the waffle fries were really good, which was an afterthought while ordering. I told them I've traveled the world, had Mediterranean food in Greece, Turkey, Halal food In NY, LA and SF. Their food is right there for authenticity, and deserve to be recognized. To top it off, the people are so warm, genuine and friendly. You can tell they have real character and are in the business because they want to make people happy. That's what it should be all about, but sadly,'only a few really get that. I'm excited to try their pizza and wings next time, and other items on their menu. It was so good in fact, that I actually even asked the owner about franchise opportunities... so there you have it.

Yelp
Always a solid reasonably priced meal. We like the lamb gyro as a wrap or a salad. The falafel wrap and plate a very good. Tonight we had their mango lassi for the first time (I think it is new) and it was a good lassi. If you order a wrap as a meal, you'll get waffle cut seasoned fries and a can of soda. The food is always plentiful and fresh. A meal will fill up someone with a hearty appetite. The service is friendly. They recently expanded into the space next door so there are plenty of tables if you want to dine in. The pizza is not my favorite. I prefer a thin crust east coast style which this is not. The crust isn't thick, but it isn't thin either. The upside is that it won't go soggy. If that is your style of pizza, they'll make a nice pie for you. I like to order take-out in person and pick up a few things at Rincon, the Mexican grocery next door while my food is prepared.

Yelp
We ordered a supreme pizza. The entire family had fight to make it to the restroom after eating it, it ran straight through us.

Bob H.

Yelp
Excellent food, very nice people. Pizza and rest of menu is fresh and well prepared. Love their falafel!

Yelp
Ordered a Large Extra cheese with 1/2 Pepperoni and OMG. The Large is a beast of a pizza(20 inches). This is how it should be done. I liked the sauce, it was on the sweeter side but not overly, and the crust was in between normal and thin. Great flavor and crunch. I really wish this place delivered. I love mom n pop stores like this. No more Round table or pizza hut for me.
