14 Best Spas in San Francisco | Condé Nast Traveler

"Qua is a petite but nicely appointed spa in the Mission District of San Francisco. If you're in the market for a facial or a pedicure without the big-spa atmosphere, this is a great place for it." - Elise Craig

I treat myself to a spa day every year on my birthday, but only at Qua Spa with Joey have I ever felt truly renewed. After the massage, my whole body felt lighter and more relaxed. The facial left my skin soft, fresh, and glowing—I honestly felt younger! The space is clean and cozy, and Joey is both friendly and incredibly professional. Thank you, Joey! See you again next year!

Google
My shoulders and back were in pain, and a friend recommended Qua Spa. Joey suggested a 30-minute Pain Relief Massage, and I felt so much better—no more pain! Highly recommend. Plus, the place is clean, comfortable, and has a great atmosphere.

The wrinkles on my face have improved and my daughter’s long-time struggle with acne was finally resolved through Joey’s attentive treatment. She’s incredibly skilled, kind, and most importantly—trustworthy. I always feel at ease when I come to her for treatments. I highly recommend her to anyone who cares about their skin!

Google
3rd Update 🌟 Joey was absolutely above and beyond, I realized she is an expert on facial massage, and she has been doing it for 30 years! which I haven't done before since I don't trust anyone with my face. She was very vocal of each step and explained every step, devices, and products she used. I will definitely come back, and not only that, I'll recommend her to my friends and business partners. I will promote her SPA on my social platforms and social media as well. It is also important to mention how everything was clean and maintained very well! 非常感謝 再見 2nd Update Correction: Joey introduced herself as an SPA director, reached out to me, and offered a facial treatment in order to compensate for the first experience. I do appreciate how quickly she responded and how honest she was. 1st review. I mentioned several times that I wanted a softer massage due to my back pain before even starting. The lady that did my massage ignored that and said it was supposed to hurt, in a tone like I never had a massage before. I complained several times during the session as well. Now, I am experiencing even worse back pain. Avoid this place, in my opinion.

Excellent!! Best Facial i had in a long time. Joey is extremely talented and kind. My skin was glowing and my body was relaxed. I will definitely return.

Google
I had a 60 minute massage and 60 minute oxygen facial a couple of days ago and was very disappointed. I’m not sure of the name of my therapist, but looking through the vastly differing reviews - I suspect there’s a quite significant variation in skill set. The massage was average but the facial was terrible. Poor technique where various serums and creams were just slapped on and a haphazard facial massage. My skin still feels raw and burnt to the extent that I had to go to Sephora to get a soothing and calming sheet mask today. Felt a bit pressured into giving a tip, which seems to be expected everywhere for anything in the US (I’m from Australia). The price of the service was very expensive given the quality.

Google
Probably the worst massage experience I’ve ever had. My mom and I booked 90-minute massages, but her massage only lasted 60 minutes—yet we were still charged the full 90-minute rate, a $50 difference. When we brought it up, they refused to adjust the price. To make matters worse, they pressured us for tips at the end, claiming they gave great service. I’ve had massages all over the world, and this was by far the most disappointing. Joey and Jasmine’s technique was sloppy—more like they were just rubbing lotion on and patting it in, with no real skill or pressure. Definitely not worth the time or money. You can also hear every conversations from the other rooms in your massage room making it not relaxing at all.

Google
I got a massage and facial this weekend at Qua Spa, and both were magical. Jasmine's massage left my tense shoulders and back so relaxed. I also have sensitive skin, so some treatments can be abrasive; but Joey's facial left me glowing.

Yelp
Got a massage here and was not disappointed. Joey was amazing. It's a hidden gem. The lobby was quaint. The check in process was fast. The deep tissue massage felt great. I was so relaxed by the end of the session. She was very accommodating. I would totally come back.

Yelp
Very relaxing, Joey knows what she's doing. Very pleased with the service! I got a prenatal massage and left feeling better than I have in months. Thank you!

Yelp
Yesterday, I treated myself to the Anti-Aging Collagen Firming Oxygen Facial with Joey. And O.M.G best Facial ever !! She has magic hands.second day my skin feels so smooth, firm, and rejuvenated . Cant wait to book her again.

Ramon B.

Yelp
I have been here twice and both massages have been wonderful by the two therapist's. I felt so relaxed and reinvigorated. My muscles felt relaxed and the cramps that I was having , which was the reason I went in for massages is greatly reduced. I highly recommend this place. They both of their massage specialists

Yelp
I've had many facials in the past with little to no noticeable improvement, but my experience with Joey has been a total game changer! After just one session, I've seen a drastic improvement in my skin. It feels smoother, clearer, and healthier than ever before. Joey is truly the best--so knowledgeable about skin care and takes the time to explain what she's doing and why. Her recommendations are always spot on, and you can tell she genuinely cares about your skin's progress. On top of that, the entire experience is incredibly relaxing. I always leave feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. If you're looking for real results and a facial expert who knows what they're doing, I highly recommend Joey. I can't wait for my next appointment! (been there twice now ;) )

Michael B.

Yelp
I highly recommend QUA Spa. Their signature massage is the most thorough and therapeutic massage I've ever had. The staff are lovely and so is the decor. Happy to support this fine business.

Holly C.

Yelp
I just had the most amazing massage and facial. Joey cured my shoulder pain with an expert massage and my skin looks radiant from the facial. I highly recommend QUA Spa.

Estonina M.

Yelp
Very unfriendly, judgmental, cold vibe. My appointment was for 11:40am, and I came in at 11:44am. The owner was immediately frustrated and said now that you're late I only have 20 minutes with you. I felt really bad, I did not realize being 4 minutes late turned a 1 hour appointment into a 20 minute appointment. Additionally she forgot my appointment was for a facial... she thought it was for a massage.. I'm grateful she added on extra time after her being frustrated with me for being 4 minutes late and did extra skin care.. it felt great but it didn't look great the following day... I still had puss and a lot of pimples that were not extracted...also at the end she said next time come on time so I can do more. I WAS ONLY 4 minutes late! She said I had to come 10 minutes early and this was never clarified in the text messages, as shown in the image. She tried to sell me acne products and I told her I can't afford it but I'd come back in a couple of weeks . Her response was "either way it's money in my pocket". So rude! Also, she said tip isn't included and I gave you a $179 facial not the $139... I did not ask her to do this and she told me she did it after the fact which I'm grateful for but the results did not show and she was insinuating I should tip more.. like seriously lady -_- .. If you want to relax, have a good facial and quality care do not go here. I won't be going back. I still had pus the next day... redness... still now on the 3rd day... dry skin... worst experience.

Yelp
I struggled A LOT with deciding if this experience was a 3 or 4 star rating. While the massage itself was pleasant, the thin walls and sliding door made every small noise sound incredibly loud. This made it very difficult to fully relax and enjoy the experience. The price was fair and I did like that they accept Spa Finder gift cards. Again, I feel obligated to rate 3/5 because in the end, my massage was only as relaxing as the overall experience and with all the noise (I could hear someone coughing next door, customers/employees engaging in conversation, etc.) I just couldn't see myself returning.

Yelp
I was able to book a same day, last minute treatment at Qua and had a great experience with Poy! She was very sweet and skilled in many types of massage therapy. If you're looking for deep tissue/very deep tissue Poy is the person to ask for! The overall space at Qua is small, but it's cozy and calming and the staff are really kind and friendly. The rooms are clean and relaxing as well. I'll also add I found Qua via Spafinder, so they accept their gift cards and if you don't find the booking time you want online you can call to see if they have additional options. Thanks to Poy and the staff at Qua for a lovely experience!

Yelp
My friend who was visiting from Toronto booked us into Qua for an afternoon of pampering. I'll admit I was skeptical, mainly about just how relaxing spa treatments in this location could be. Happily, I was wrong - this place is an oasis despite its address! After a facial from Eva and and a massage from David I truly felt like I'd taken a vacation.

Yelp
I got the anti-acne oxygen facial with Joey today and oh my god was it worth it. My skin already looks so much better, but the experience alone makes me want to come back. Joey thinks of everything. Most facial massages during the treatment just feel nice, but I could tell she knew what she was doing hitting pressure points and moving my skin kind of in the similar motions you would do with a gua sha. During the mask (with an added LED mask) she massaged and stretched my arms, legs, scalp & neck so it was like getting a full body massage on top of my facial. Even sitting up at the end she supports your back and puts a warm towel on your shoulders to help bring you back from your near comatose state of relaxation. I cannot speak of her more highly. Go get this facial. Thank you Joey!!

Yelp
I had an incredible experience at Qua Spa - truly the best facial ever! Highly recommend to anyone seeking a fantastic facial. Joey worked wonders, and my skin looks amazing. Thank you!!

Yelp
Very clean, friendly staff! I enjoyed my visit very much. Definitely will comeback again to work out those pesky knots!

Yelp
Absolutely amazing!!! Joey does an incredible job managing and making guests feel pampered and welcomed. The masseuses are all so good it's definitely very well priced. Recommend to anyone looking for a clean, reliable, well managed establishment as well as for athletes and those looking for stress reduction. Bravo Joey

Yelp
I had a facial and massage done here. They were very prompt on their services. Right when I arrived, they brought me into the room to get started so I didn't have to wait at all. The staff were very friendly as well and took their time on my skin. I especially enjoyed the facial massage! That was very relaxing and my face was glowing afterwards.
google avatar

Yelp
The facial was fine - micro-abrasion anti-aging. The atmosphere was terrible. You could hear the other people around you so it was hard to relax. There were wall hangings on the floor in the room. The service was 'just get the job done', nice but not high-end as they try to portray. She was fast and abrupt and didn't tell me what she was doing at each step - small but would make a difference in the experience. It was a 1h15m facial and it was less than an hour of service. My husband had an hour massage (he could hear us next door talking so never relaxed and his masseuse didn't speak English) that started same time and he came out after me. Both services with tip was $350 which seems high for the lack of quality.

Yelp
It was very difficult for me to come up with a star rating to be 100% honest. Let me preface this by saying, I would return to Qua, but I do have some complaints about my experience. Overall, my massage was good, and I would try this location again to see if I could have a better experience next time around. I booked my appointment around 1130am for the same day, at 115pm. I arrived at 110pm and no one was at the front desk, there were many signs saying to use quiet voices, so I didn't want to shout or make sounds. It took a few minutes but eventually someone came out of a room. My masseuse explained their system was down but she would be happy to still see me. I was thankful but a little weary. Overall, the massage was really good. I have one "big" complaint and 3 "small" complaints. My first complaint was that my masseuse stopped a few times to either text someone or change her personal music. This was honestly kind of annoying esp when she was massaging my left leg, she stopped at least 3 times to change a song (I assume) or to do something else. It broke me from my relaxation and just didn't feel good. It happened multiple times. My smaller complaints were: 1) Her hand massaging was great and loved the pressure. When she massaged me with her arm it felt more like she was rubbing lotion on me than anything else. She did it a lot on my back and it just felt like nothing. I'd say maybe 60% of my massage was very enjoyable, 20% was just annoying / I hated it, and the other 20% was just ok? It actually made me annoyed because she would push her elbow in, make a twisting/flicking motion, pause and not move for what felt like minutes, and then make a light and slow motion of spreading lotion on my back. This along with her not hearing me because of her airpods a few times, I was annoyed. I've had many many massages and I've never had this elbow flicking experience before 2) After my back portion of the massage, my back was cleaned with a warm towel. This was nice, but oddly, she left the wet towel on my back, then put the sheets and blanket on top of the wet towel, and then proceeded to massage my right leg. Well, that warm towel quickly became cold and now I was uncomfortably having this cold and wet towel over my back. It was really strange. Like, I get if I were getting extractions why you may do this, but no massage I've experience in the past has left a wet towel on me, assuming to leave on me for half of the massage? Once again, never had this happen in any other massage experience, what was the point of leaving the towel on my back? I asked her to take it off before she proceeded to my next leg. 3) When she started my massage, she did not reposition my leg pillow. When I flipped over to lay on my back, she did not give me a neck pillow or cover my eyes with a towel - details that honestly really do matter if you're paying $100+ per hour for a massage. Overall the woman who massaged me was really sweet and I did enjoy my massage. I debated between a 2, 3, and 4 star review. I just think I would like to try another masseuse here and see if I could have a more professional experience. The walking away to adjust music or message someone is not ok for a spa experience Last note, because their system was down, they had to take a photo of my credit card and their boss / manager charged me from somewhere else. I did it because well...what other choice did I have if I didn't have cash at that moment?...and so far no weird charges, but it was a sketch first experience. I trust they won't steal my info but still, a photo of my credit card is floating out there and that just is unnecessary

Yelp
Joey is really experienced and amazing. I had problems with my acne for a long time. She personalized my facial for me. My face felt clean and fresh after. The room is clean and comfortable. Highly recommended!

Yelp
My partner and I came here really excited about the place. It seemed very nice, clean and relaxing. It would've earned our business had it not been for one of the "therapists" named Ploy. We each asked for a 60 minute Swedish massage but, unfortunately, I ended up having Ploy as my masseuse. Before she even began massaging me, she said that if I want more pressure I must upgrade to deep tissue. I was a little confused.. Like who says that before even starting. But it became clear to me that she was trying to UPSELL!! She became upset that I wouldn't upgrade so she proceeded to just rub oil on my back and applied no pressure at all. She was intentionally giving me the worst service possible as payback for refusing to upgrade. I don't mind paying good money for good service but I'm not gonna let someone hussle me like that. So I asked her to end the massage early and I told her why I don't wish to continue. She got really angry and started SHOUTING and saying "Don't tell me how to do my f....ing job." I asked her calmly not to raise her voice at a customer and then she screamed "I'll TALK TO YOU HOWEVER I WANT." She then went on screaming and shouting profanity. At one point she even said that "YOU'RE BODY IS SO BEAT." I found it hilarious to hear those words coming out of her mouth... but I didn't wish to engage with her at her level. As a business owner and a massage enthusiast, it only takes one employee like PLOY to ruin a business's reputation. I feel sorry for such a great place having a terrible employee like her. Her coworker even offered me an apology and free session but I won't be going back as long as PLOY still works there.

Yuli C.

Yelp
I had a great experience! Joey is amazing. She's very patient and took good care of my skin. I can see the difference after the oxygen facial. She also did a good job massaging my arms and legs. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Nottt the best experience I've ever had. I got the Groupon for the one hour Swedish and this up charged me $10 to change that to a deep tissue. That's a first. My Masseuse was 5 minutes late so the massage started 15 minutes late which made me late for my meeting. The room was freezing, the face hole in the table wAs so tiny I felt super constricted. My masseuse kept going on about how my body was so tight that I needed more time, instead of time managing better. For example, she spent about 20 minutes in the over-cover prep instead of just a few. Her nails were sort of sharp too so that was distracting and not pleasant. I kept having to remind her to work my lower back which is the only thing I really circled on the chart before the massage. Then in the middle of the massage she tried to upsell me again and stepped out of the room to ask how much 15 minutes was from the receptionist, and then kept reminding me I have to do longer massages next time. Elaine added five minutes of extra time as a gesture for being late (and reminded me twice), which was sweet and overall a nice lady, but not exactly a fulfilling, enjoyable or relaxing massage. The venue itself was very clean; I walked in at someone was vacuuming which really should be done before opening hours. I enjoyed cucumber water, tea and treats beforehand, but the receptionist didn't even ask me if I enjoyed the massage after, and I was shocked that she didn't comp the extra $10 or give me a discount for the tardiness. Overall most likely won't return. Didn't walk out with the feeling that the masseuse "got me", or that the customer service was superb. I'm sure other would enjoy a simpler massage there but I needed real work done on my lower back because of my bulging disc induced chronic pain.

Yelp
You get a lot more than what you bargain for. I was my first time at Qua. I saw it had good reviews and decided to give it a go. I had the pleasure of getting reflexology services by David. My boyfriend received the Qua Signature massage from Madeline. We were absolutely blown away by the quality and care from David and Madeline. The only thing is I wish it were more private. My boyfriend could hear the conversation I was having with David about foot reflexology and it made it harder for him to concentrate on his massage. But other than that, it was a great experience. Would come again.

Jane W.

Yelp
Massage with Ploy was wonderful. Deep tissue, very strong and addressed the areas I requested. Very calm and beatiful space, and parking in the same building. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Joey at Qua Spa was amazing! I got a facial done here and I'm leaving with my skin glowing. Couldn't recommend this place more!

Yelp
GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! Literally the WORSE spa I've ever been to!! Didn't know I could meet someone who could f*ck up a massage but yet I did. I had a massage and it felt as if she was basically moisturizing my skin. Like oh hey friend ur back is ashy let me get that or like a friend putting sunscreen on my back.... No type of pressure felt .. aint sh*t get massaged. She kept fidgeting around with the lotion dispenser shit like she did not prep the room & see how much lotion/oil she had...it was just BAD ! At least she kept her mask on? :/ Now onto the facial, this was my first facial & the lady was giving me white hippie anti-masker she was like oh I'm vaccinated & was not gonna wear her mask. Any who, I had the oxygen facial ... she was telling me how it's a lil scam and she just puts air on my face & how I should upgrade to microdermabrasion which is better and yadda yadda so I did for an extra $40 ! I honestly don't know what this lady was doing to my face but it took so damn long and wasn't enjoyable. I was stressed!! ;( So that's how a spa day turned into me leaving more stressed than when I walked in & I was out of $260 for bullsh*t service. Thank you for coming to my TED talk !
google avatar

Jessica M.

Yelp
Massage was great - I believe it was by Dave or David.... Facial was almost the worst I have ever received. No steam. (First was when I was deployed in Iraq) No extractions. Shit products. I get facials on a regular basis and every single person has always talked through everything they have done. Felt rushed and a waste of "their time". Cellophane and a towel on my face during a facial and serum is not worth $100. I didn't come for the 30 minute shit massage on my neck either. Don't waste your time on facials here.

Yelp
I tell you guys this is an Amazing spa experience i ever had in this location. All I can say right now is WOW. The atmosphere was incredible. You walk into the lobby and it's Bright, Clean and Smells Amazing . They are super friendly and attentive, from the moment I walked in she greeted me with a smile and held the perfect amount of interaction. They suggested me "ALL ABOUT FACE" facial, I cannot tell you how thrilled I am with the end result. My skin felt great and glowing. My husband also had their "QUA SIGNATURE MASSAGE". It was really good and relaxing. These guys know what they are doing. Just give it a try. If you're looking for a High end spa, This is the place for you high end experience with affordable pricing

Ricci W.

Yelp
Such a good service, the massage therapist was delightful, yet firm with her treatment . The facial I received was also top-tier, had all of the newest equipment great place to relax and reset.
google avatar

Alyssa J.

Yelp
The receptionist was a bit frazzled- she did confess she was filling in. We did not receive a tour of the facilities, instead we went right into our rooms. My deep tissue was good, I asked her to focus on my shoulder, which she did. One thing to note, this facility does NOT have a shower, so unfortunately I had to get back on the airplane in all my oily glory. Plus that they have easy to navigate online booking.
google avatar

Ravit B.

Yelp
I like to try different nail salons around the city and this one got so many great reviews I decided to give it a shot.. The place is clean, and very welcoming by the staff, however, it seems this place specializes more in massages and not so in mani pedi. The 45 min signature manicure was not that incredible. Unfortunately I didn't feel she did a very good job (doesn't seem like the nail polish was applied in a good, even way). I normally go to places where I pay $15 and get much more and a far better result than the $30 this had cost... *Just an update, the nail polish started peeling 2 days after.

Kristina P.

Yelp
I had a really great deep tissue massage. The Qua was able to accommodate us last minute and were really friendly and professional. I definitely recommend getting a massage here!

Sophia G.

Yelp
At this price point I had been expecting a spa experience. It's not that. While the massage and facials were good and the people who work there are lovely, the space feels somewhere in between a nail salon and nice hotel spa. As it was my first time there, I arrived early to relax and ended up waiting outside with a locked door and no one at reception. It did not feel safe as there was a homeless man literally watching me and circling around. I would not pay this much money for this experience again.
google avatar

D B.

Yelp
The team at Qua have gone above and beyond to make a little oasis on Mission, and very specifially during this time to make me feel comfortable. I walked inside and was promptly greeted. I was early so had a little wait in a nice seating area behind reception. My therapist greeted me and showed me to a room, she was wearing a mask and face shield to protect both of us, I can only imagine how warm that was during my facial. The service was wonderful, facial and extended facial massage and a complimentary brow tidy (which I was overdue for). I walked out about 90 minutes later feeling thoroughly pampered and relaxed and definitely glowing. I made my next appointment, a facial and massage package, in a month, I am looking forward to the spa package. Thank you for such a wonderful experience.
google avatar

Patricia Z.

Yelp
My friend and I bought a Groupon to get deep tissue massage here. Upon arrival, I was given a sheet to fill out my medical history as well as a picture of a human outline to indicate which areas I wanted to focus on in my massage. I was in desperate need of some relaxation, and I enjoyed my experience. The lady who worked on me spent a fair amount of time on the knots in my back and neck. Walked out feeling like a new person :)

Yelp
I've been to Qua for massages a few times with Frances. She was absolutely incredible and I recommended both her specifically and Qua to friends looking for a massage. I had purchased a 60 minute Swedish massage through Groupon in February before COVID shut everything down. Unfortunately, the coupon expired in June but they were nice enough to let me apply it once the spa opened back up given the circumstances. I called to book a 1 hour massage with Frances and was told that they had an entirely new staff now that they were open. I was hesitant, but promised that both new masseuses were VERY good so there shouldn't be a worry there. I got to my massage a little early and was seen right away. It started to go downhill from here. I laid on the table alone for about 10 minutes post-changing before my masseuse came back to begin the massage. Next, a man came into the salon and was very, very loud. Nobody in the establishment told him to quiet down using an inside voice given that he was 1) in a spa and 2) massages were in session. It was very disruptive and I wasn't able to relax from there. Then, a man came into my room while I was on the table getting massaged. My masseuse let me know that her manager and walked into the room and scared her. The massage itself was mediocre. It didn't feel good nor relaxing and I've had better. Not to mention that I didn't receive a full body massage because my 'time was up' but 10 more minutes would have sufficed that we used while I was laying on the table alone. I don't think I'll be coming back here again, unfortunately.

Yelp
After tweaking my back, I booked a last minute deep tissue massage over the weekend. I was a bit worried this would turn into a typical spa style massage - lots of rubbing and oil but no real knowledge of how to address injuries. My therapist Long, however, was fantastic and knowledgeable. He really targeted the areas I pointed out and used different techniques to help relieve the problem. The next morning, I woke up with almost no pain and little tension in my back. Thanks team at Qua!
google avatar

Jake B.

Yelp
Definitely a bit tougher than what I was looking for. I was hoping for a relaxing Swedish massage but it was quite painful. I asked for medium pressure but apparently that means very deep tissue level pressure. They were also quite late starting (if the staff starts opening ship at 11 I would advise against scheduling appointments for 11, especially if you ask clients to arrive 10 mins early). Not exactly a relaxing neighborhood either, overall would advise elsewhere.

Yelp
Don't go here if you're looking to drift off into a peaceful other world. You'll be getting your massage to the back drop of every noise imaginable. The good: - Massage was bang on time. Efficient check in. - My masseuse was good - polite, firm pressure and good technique. - Decor is ok. The meh: - No aromatherapy or scented oils used. Just basic oil. I'm used to being asked what scent I like. Or at least have some oils burning. It didn't feel like a massage experience without them. The massage was over $110 plus tip so I think it's a fair expectation. - The noise is insane. The rooms aren't even real rooms, they're just cubicles with partitions and sliding doors. You might as well have it right there in the reception area. The combo of the massage music and the background noise irritated me. I'd almost prefer one or the other. You can hear everything - people checking in, the manicurist and her customers, the massage customers next door. - There's no relaxation area after. If it's really a "spa" it should have one rather than walking right out from your massage to the waiting area :( Overall the massage loosened me up but I didn't get that zen relaxation I was really after. Made th experience feel clinical - like physical therapy - rather than a spa massage. :(

Yelp
Came in for two deep tissue massages on a Sunday. Let me start with the positive: - Both were on-time, friendly and professional. - We completed a questionnaire prior to the massage and both were mindful of our requests. - The "pressure" of a deep tissue is always difficult to gauge as it is subjective as to what is considered "light", "medium" or "firm" pressure, so I always start with medium and go from there. My masseuse applied the perfect level of pressure. - The spa itself is small, but cute, and the decoration is well balanced. - The customer service was great. We were immediately greeted, we were offered something to drink and given our questionnaires and we waited in the "waiting area". If this review was based on just the masseuse and customer service, I would have given either four or five stars. However, it is based on the overall experience and that is where things significantly change. The "waiting area" is almost directly across from the mani/pedi station and right next to (and I do mean right next to) the massage rooms. We were escorted to our rooms, and I realized after I got into the room that the rooms are not enclosed. This means that everything (and I do mean everything) that is going on in the spa you can hear. So, for the next 90 minutes as my bf and I both tried to relax and enjoy our massages, we instead listened to doors opening and closing, phones ringing, laughing, foot traffic and clients talking about their weekend and just consistent noise. I have never had a massage that wasn't in a quiet space so this was an entirely different experience for me and my bf, one that neither of us would choose to replicate. It is not that it is super loud, it's just consistent and at different levels and coming from different things. There is background music but it's not enough to drown out the other noises. I would suggest if you want to try this place for a massage (because the masseuses were great) that you bring ear buds or some other noise cancelling device. If I had known that it wasn't in an enclosed space, I would never have made an appointment, so I thought I should write this review for anyone else that may be seeking a serene experience. We won't be back simply because there are other places we can go for a massage where noise is not a concern. This may not be an issue for some, but for those that prefer the "typical" massage experience, you probably would not find the atmosphere enjoyable. In hindsight I probably should have said something before we left, because after I read the reviews more in-depth, I realized that this is a known issue. Again, customer service and masseuses ---- really good! Noise level ----bad.

Yelp
I've gone to Qua for nearly two years and have only stopped because I moved all the way across the country. In the last month since I've moved to Boston, I still have yet to find a place I love as much as Qua. Everyone at Qua is so so so pleasant and nice and friendly. My is such a chill lady and Sabrina at the front desk is also fun to chat with while I get my manicure with Tina. I pretty much went to Tina every week and it was always like going to a friends house. My also had some fun waxing my eyebrows on one occasion and although I complained like a baby while I was there I got to admire my brows for a few weeks after that so overall I'd say it was worth it. One of my favorite things about Qua is that there isn't a bunch of chaos like one would typically see at nail salons - it's just Tina and it's so peaceful and quiet. The location is pretty small but it's got a real homey-yet-chic feel and definitely has a very private atmosphere. Prices are fair and it didn't hurt that it was right across the street from where I worked. There's always a few spots open for street parking as well (metered). Making appointments is also fast and easy online. Now that I'm in Boston I miss everyone at Qua so much and I can't wait to visit them again when I come home for the holidays!

Yelp
Went here with a friend for our birthdays. We scheduled them at the same time. I scheduled a 60 min massage/60 min facial combo and she scheduled a 90 minute massage and a manicure. When we arrived, I noticed that they scheduled my facial before my massage and had me waiting 30 minutes in between my facial and my massage. The facial was average at best. I have a beard and they completely avoided the lower half of my face. After the massage, I had to lay in the room for 45 minutes waiting for my massage to start. The massage was also average at best. It's the next day and my skin is sore on my back, which is a first. My friend got her massage first and when she was finished, they told her there was no one available to do her manicure and apologized for the confusion. Not sure I know where the confusion is. We made an appointment and it was confirmed. Sounds like confusion in their part. So my friend then had to wait for an hour and 15 minutes for me to get done. We both agreed the face rests during the massage were borderline painful. Neither one of us will ever go back and I don't recommend you go here either.

Yelp
Beware, if you received a gift certificate for this location before they changed their name from Qua Foot Spa, to Qua Spa (same location, same phone #, same everything), it won't be honored. The receptionist was illusive at best in explaining this policy and refused to connect me to anyone capable of discussing it further. - - - Update: No request to send the certificate was made on the call, though in a private Yelp message I've been told that gift certificates with the old business website on them are not honored. Still unclear what the relationship is between these businesses.

Yelp
Great facial. My skin felt so clean for days. I had smaller pores and a glowing face. My esthician was lovely. I'll go back.

Yelp
I had a very good experience here! Great customer service, skilled staff, and reasonable prices. I got a 60 minute massage, oxygen facial, and signature mani pedi and was happy with all my treatments. As long as you're not looking for a "full service spa experience" (they don't have a steam room, jacuzzi, showers, etc.), you'll be pleased. My spa day at Qua started with a 60 minute massage from Gary - he was attentive, thorough, made sure the pressure was to my satisfaction, and wasn't too chatty, which I appreciated. There was a very minor snafu at the end of my massage - my masseuse didn't know I had a facial scheduled right after, so he told me I could get dressed when the massage ended. It was only when I mentioned the facial that he brought me a robe and told me the basket with my belongings would be moved to my next treatment room. My facial with My also went well. She did a great job with my extractions - the discomfort was definitely worth it! She was a little too chatty at first, but quickly picked up on the fact that I wasn't in a talkative mood and reduced the amount of conversation. I loved the fact that My didn't try to sell me on various products during my facial (this is something the folks at Bliss do a lot, and it can be annoying!). Tina did my mani pedi, and I was very happy with it. She was very thorough and did a good job shaping my nails. The scrub was great as well. The front desk staff was great - Sabrina was very polite and friendly. It's a small spa and I felt well taken care of (they made sure I got plenty of water, and the cookie and chocolate square I was served during my mani pedi was a very nice touch). The only drawback to this spa is that it doesn't have the typical spa "extras" (you're not given a robe and slippers upon check in, there's no steam room or showers, etc.) Given the very reasonable prices (my massage, facial, and mani pedi combo was $240 before tip), this is not a big deal - just something to be aware of. Also, the waiting area is not very private and faces the nail salon area. Overall, this is a great spot to get some quality R&R at decent prices!

Yelp
Not the best. I'm not sure if the ownership or staff changed recently, but my massage was very soft despite a deep tissue add on and the facial was very sparse and my skin has been red for a day and a half since the facial, despite noting my sensitivity on the intake form. Also, I'm breaking out more than before I went in. Overall, I was underwhelmed and disappointed. I would browse other options if you're looking for a day of pampering. Note that parking is not validated in the garage right next to the entrance and, as expected in the city, it is upwards of $20.

Yelp
This review is for a gel manicure I received as a gift, so no comment about pricing, but she did a pristine job. She was very thorough with cuticle trimming and the nails look great! A little stingy on the hand massage for my taste- I love a good hand/arm massage, but that's ok. The place is pretty small. They have one chair for hands, and one chair for pedicures at the front by the desk, and then a few rooms in the back for massages/facials. I would come back, I'll just have to check pricing :)

Yelp
I received the best massage of my life from David. This massage changed my life and he taught me how to help manage my stress better as well. He has extensive experience with both western and eastern massage techniques and incorporates all of his knowledge and experience based on what the client needs, of which he can primarily detect intuitively. He asks questions to get to know what the main pain points are, if you have any pain in other areas of your body, will help you to identify blockages and better understand your body and how it works in conjunction with the mind, the soul, our environment, etc. I feel so empowered, I can't wait to come back and learn more and receive more massages which definitely transcend beyond your standard Swedish massage!
