19 of Montreal’s Best Bars for Live Music | Eater Montreal

"A neighbourhood bar in the Plateau that’s just as good for a beer as it is for live shows, this place has turned into one of the more trendy places to see a live show since it first opened over 30 years ago. While it hosts French literary events and art shows as well, those looking to check out who’s taking to their stage should check out the website." - JP Karwacki

I go once a month 5-7pm on the first Wed to see PianoBunker and his guest play. Always a great time.

This place always amaze me, always they host different event, and those event will not disappoint you ever. Though i don't understand or speak Spanish, I enjoyed those events from beginning to end.

It's such a lovely place to catch a live show, local music, and talented people. Although the bar is small, the audience is very respectful of the artist, all driven by the same interest of enjoying great music and a beer :))

I recently had the pleasure of going to a bar that had an incredible live Latin music band called <Cumbia Control> playing. The atmosphere was absolutely amazing, with good vibes all around. The drinks were also very affordable which made it even better. I would highly recommend this bar to anyone looking for a great night out with great music and drinks at an affordable price.

Google
Decent bar, not an ideal live venue due to the awkward positioning of the stage next to the front door - every new person coming in is taking the audience's attention away from the stage and the performer can be likewise distracted from the flurry of activity that may arise from people coming and going right next to them

Great live music bar. Friendly and helpful service. Very good sound.

Google
13 bucks for a small glass of negroni, that is not even full. Then the girl at the bar ask tips for every drink because they have a bad salary. After some minutes a guy asking for 15 dollars if we wanted to stay to hear the band. It felt like a ripoff.

Yelp
I've only been here to check out musicians I know, I don't think I ever would've visited otherwise. I like the drink selection, it's small but still has something for everyone. I've never gotten food but I think they do have some. I think the side tables and high chairs aren't too comfortable but unless you show up early, you won't get the prime tables in front of the stage. It does get a bit hot inside and sometimes there is a cover charge so keep that in mind. I think the location is great for live music, the sound is clear and you see clearly.

Yelp
If I could give 0 stars I would. This place was terrible, $10 cover to not be able to breath it was so hot and Smokey. It was easily the worst $10 to get into a place I've ever spent. We left almost immediately. I don't know who's writing these good reviews, but it's not worth your time.

Yelp
Located on St Denis off of Blvd Mont Royal, this bar is located in the hip neighborhood of Le Plateau. My friend and I knew nothing of this bar, we just happened to walk by on a Friday night and it looked fun and unintimidating. It's a long bar with a D shaped bar in the way back. Plenty of high and low top seating and a stage next to the entrance. We ordered a cidre and Pinot Noir, then grabbed a seat. Half way through our first drink the bouncer came around collecting $10 for the live music. Two bands played. Both very different, but both entertaining in their own way. We continued to drink into the night and had a great time. FYI, If you're not Canadian and run out of cash, use a credit card with a chip. Apparently this bar wasn't allowed to accept cards wo one. Lots of ATMs in the vicinity, so it wasn't a prob.

Yelp
Love this beautiful mellow bar with it's stained glass and thick deco wood and high white ceilings and gorgeous old moldings everywhere. There are small cozy corner booths, and the bar is a v-shaped point in the back. There is a small raised stage at the front that works for smaller bands, and the sound in the room is quite warm and great. Pints are affordable, service comes to the tables or you can work your way in to the bar. I've seen some great shows here over the years, the folks doing the booking are doing lots right. All in all a wonderful room on St Denis.

Yelp
This place was so rad! I came in on a whim and caught an awesome show from a couple of bands from LA and Austin... The atmosphere was cool and the bar tenders were super nice!

Yelp
Went here for a fantastic show a week ago (Head Honcho et al. @ Pop MTL). Pretty little space, especially the sign. Beers are about average priced, when you consider the strip it's on, and they have a good selection besides. I know bars are supposed to be dark, but QDB is maybe a little too much so. Cozy, though. Probably my favorite in the area.

Yelp
Stopped at place because we saw live music. Music was great but this was the most I accommodating to american's bar I've been too. Very limited mixed drinks, no credit cards, no American cash, no American debit cards and no ATM. Had to leave and go to bank to get cash to pay. Two stars for music and vibe solely.

Yelp
A nice looking place that appears welcoming - then you encounter the staff. Rude and dismissive. Too bad, I was looking forward to visiting this place. Never again
