"A pier filled with knock-off t-shirt shops might not be the first place you’d look for an incredible seafood spot, but you’ll find one on the boardwalk in Redondo Beach. Quality Seafood is a completely chaotic fish market, where you select what you want from a case loaded with freshly caught fish on ice, and they cook it however you want. We usually opt for deep-fried red snapper and steamed Dungeness crab, but you really can’t go wrong." - brant cox, sylvio martins, garrett snyder, cathy park
"A popular pier-side seafood spot where locals line up for freshly steamed crabs, often served on spread paper with wooden mallets for cracking, delivering a nostalgic, hands-on dining experience." - Patricia Doherty Patricia Doherty Patricia Doherty is a writer who specializes in covering destinations, resorts, and cruises for Travel + Leisure and other publications. "As the name might imply, this spot on the Redondo Pier takes seafood very seriously. It’s basically a fish market with a huge, multi-level dining room, and when you want to order oysters, you grab a sheet of paper, mark what you want, and hand it over for them to shuck. They source their oysters from all over the globe, including both coasts of the US, New Zealand, and Scotland. If you really want to taste oysters from around the world, this is the best place to do it." - sylvio martins, nikko duren
"We don’t have hard evolutionary data, but we’re pretty sure humans were designed to eat seafood next to the water come summer. We’re very sure, however, that the spot to do it is Quality Seafood. Steamed clams, cold beer, and harbor views. Your post-beach lunch is settled." - brant cox, cathy park, sylvio martins, jess basser sanders
"One of Los Angeles’s oldest restaurants happens to serve some of the freshest seafood on the Redondo Beach boardwalk. Quality Seafood’s offerings provide something for all — think New England-style clam chowder, ceviches, salmon poke, fried and grilled fish tacos, fresh oysters, and a lobster clam bake for two. Pair seafood here with a beer on tap. With outdoor seating, it’s best to head to Quality Seafood when the weather is nice, or bring a sweatshirt for when the marine layer rolls in." - Mona Holmes
