Quality Seafood Market

Google
Coming from North Jersey, this place is a gem both taste and price-wise. The fish tacos were splendid, the fried flounder taste as hell, crab bites had a nice bite, but the fried oysters stole the show for me and were simply awesome! I had to go back on my trip through back to NJ. Service was A+.

Google
Good food. Reasonable prices

Miss D.

Google
I don’t understand how the food is cooked to order, but they serving cold fries, and hush puppies. I sent my food back three times, and it still wasn’t right. No apologies, just “we cook our hush puppies in batches.” Sydney must not be Food Handling Certified, like other members in the kitchen for that to be allowed. Not knowing how often batches are made, and when the next one would be. Look at the quality of my food in my picture, and this is way less food than what originally came out.

Google
Food was cooked as ordered and they have good customer service... Bru polite young lady at the window

Google
The food at Quality Seafood in Elizabeth City was really good — fresh, flavorful, and worth the visit. Unfortunately, the customer service was disappointing. A woman with short blond, frizzy, curly hair (possibly the manager) was openly rude in front of customers. She rolled her eyes when people walked away from the counter, talked badly about a coworker within earshot (thankfully the customers she was talking about didn’t hear — but I did), and shouted out orders impatiently without giving people a chance to respond. It honestly made me nervous to ask her for anything. The food was great, but the overall experience would be much better with improved professionalism and customer service.

Google
They were highly recommended when I was there visiting the VA medical clinic coming from Hampton VA hospital. The food was wonderful, Service was great and fast. You have to try their apple fritter, more like a pie, but it was delicious.

Google
I dine here every time I visit Elizabeth City. The food is exceptional, the staff are cordial and the prices are reasonable. If you like fried seafood then this is definitely the place for you. The picture is of their seafood sample platter (flounder, scallops, shrimp and oysters)

Google
The food is amazing! Not very much space to sit so dont bring a big family here order and take it home. They also have raw seafood to buy as well. I give 4 bc of limited space and seating. I. Believe they have a drive through

Yelp
Second time here was a bit disappointing as it was not near as good as the first. I ordered the Sampler which was fired fish, Shrimp, Scallops and Oysters with a side of onion rings. I really liked the Rings, and the scallops. The fish was OK and needed a bunch of tarter sauce. The shrimp was OK, but the oysters did not taste as fresh as I would have liked. The wife ordered the softshells, which she thought were OK, but enjoyed the fish sandwich she had the 1st time we were there. So overall an OK but not spectacular meal.

Yelp
If you're searching for the best seafood in town, look for the best seafood restaurant and store. Every visit here is a treat the food is absolutely awesome. The portions are incredibly generous, so you'll definitely leave satisfied and maybe with leftovers! Prices are reasonable and we ordered seafood sampler. It was delicious. The entire space is clean and well-kept, both in the dining area and the market. It's easy to see why so many people flock here there's always a lively crowd, which just adds to the great atmosphere. One of my favorite things is the attached store, which sells the freshest seafood around. Whether you're dining in or taking something home to cook, you can count on top-notch quality. Highly recommend Quality Seafood for anyone craving delicious, fresh seafood and a welcoming environment!

Yelp
Quality Seafood is always a great choice. Don't have a ton of seating inside, and they get busy around lunch and dinner. But you can't beat the quality and freshness of the seafood and the prices are incredible for the amount of food you get. Most plates/dinner are around $13 and include fries, hush puppies and Cole slaw along with tons of fish, shrimp or whatever you pick. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Quality Seafood is our "go to" in Elizabeth City if seafood is on our minds...... The fried food is lightly battered so you taste the seafood more than the batter. The quantity is enough to share or take home....we do both! Counter services are very friendly, professional and extremely accommodating. If you have a "hankering" for some good home cooking seafood, then this is a must! They have a seafood market attached that carries just about everything they serve, so all the food is fresh!
google avatar

Yelp
Fast service. Excellent food. Down home atmosphere. The servers are very knowledgeable about the seafood they serve.

Muriel B.

Yelp
Amazing fresh fried mix of oysters, scallops, catfish, shrimp, hush puppies and fries! All for the lunch price of $10!

Ernie B.

Yelp
This was our first and definatly last time we will give them our business. We ordered 2 different dinner plates, one was the shrimp, and the other was scallops. The dinner came with hush puppies, coleslaw and french fries. The shrimp were overcooked and simply just your typical frozen shrimp you can buy at Food Lion. Portion size was ok. French Fries were standard fare, coleslaw was good as were the hush puppies. The scallops are a totally different story. Scallops are my favorite seafood, I know my scallops. What was served to me was "surimi" which is minced fish with scallop flavoring. First bite, I knew immediatly! Do not give them your business ! The prepared food is NOT FRESH and some is immitation. RIP-OFFS !!!

Lori J.

Yelp
Have eaten here several times and it is ALWAYS great food, hot, and reasonably priced! Service is fast and staff very friendly! Wish I didn't live an hour from them or I would eat here a lot!

Yelp
One of my favorite places to visit in the small city. I usually opt for the fried flounder sandwich or crab cake dinner. There could be better sides but the fries are usually my go to. I would call ahead if placing a drive thru order because the line is always long closer to closing and they close early. Very little parking in this area as well. No doubt some of the best fresh seafood in town.
google avatar

Yelp
We had lunch at Quality Seafood on the recommendation of several local folks. We weren't disappointed, the food was tasty, hot and crispy. We had the sampler platter with shrimp, oysters, scallops, trout, fries and coleslaw We'll go back for another lunch.

Cathy J.

Yelp
Food is usually good but be careful of portions. I normally get fish n shrimp dinner that has 2 pieces of fish and 8 shrimp for 12.99. Got shrimp dinner for same price and ONLY 12 shrimp. Go figure! I won't eat there any more. Then, to get onion rings which is only 50 cents more then fries you can't pay up charge of 50 cents to get onion rings in place of fries. I'm done with them.
google avatar

Elaine G.

Yelp
The service was quick inside although they had a tail going out the driveway of drive through orders. They easily added my requested lemons and service was very nice. I will need to try the fish next time!
google avatar

Yelp
One of my favorites!!! I frequent both sides of the establishment often. Love the scallops and shrimp. Seasoned perfectly. Family members love the oysters.
google avatar

Shanita F.

Yelp
I came on a Saturday around 2pm, so in time for the lunch special! The lunch special was the seafood platter with 1 trout, 2 oysters, shrimp, and 2 scallops. All specials and dinners are served with fries, coleslaw, and hush puppies but no drink for $7.79. Pretty good prices, with the exception of the sides. They start at about $3, and it's not a large portion (with the exception of the fries). There was nine people in my party. The restaurant is self seating, and they had a table that was large enough to fit all of us. It was semi busy, but most people didn't eat in. I ordered the catfish dinner. The food was ready in about 20 minutes--served hot! They offered plenty of condiments at the counter--tartar sauce, Texas Pete, ketchup, cocktail sauce etc. Everything was OK. Nothing too fancy, but also nothing to rave about. The coleslaw was my favorite.

Christopher W.

Yelp
Absolutely the best seafood restaurant in NC. The plates are cheap and the serving are huge of unbelievable fresh seafood. The oysters, shrimp, fish and scallops are all divine. I recommend the seafood platter. On Fridays the lines here are long inside and out but its a great place to get you seafood on in Liz City.

Rolanda T.

Yelp
Always have gotten their live crabs this time I got steamed they were good my wife decided to get their cooked foods she had the flounder shrimp hush slaw fry it was good however not cooked long enough the shrimp breading was coming off and not fried long enough and the fish the inside was not cooked long enough she took it home to put in the air fryer $15.00 and had to cook it again customer service is always great there btw we live 40 minutes away but frequent Elizabeth City

Yelp
This was a recommendation from a local saying it was the best seafood in town. That's probably because it's pretty much the only seafood in town besides Captain D's. I had crab cakes. No filler so it was pure crab, but it was also deep fried. New for me. Hush puppies good, the sweet type. French fries hot and crispy. Slaw...ehhh ok. Broiled flounder..ehh ok. Corn...ehhh ok. Packaged tartar sauce and cocktail sauce...ewww. Come on. It's not that hard to make good sauces for seafood. This place is also very reasonable price wise. Order your food, pay, sit down and wait for your number to be called. No frills. Entertainment provided by children being unmanaged by their parents. Other patrons also very comical. Outside entertainment provided by seagulls dive bombing man across the street. Had to see it to believe it. I ducked myself when I saw it happen. Bathrooms were clean and huge. The cake dessert in the case looked melty. My thoughts are there has to be a better place a little drive away, but maybe not. If only the crab cakes had not been deep fried I might have given them a 3 star, but have to hold on 2 stars.
google avatar

Mycla S.

Yelp
The seafood is fresh and very reasonably priced. I drive from Norfolk just to come get quality seafood. It's the best seafood. I always order the platter with fish, scallops, shrimp, oysters, fries, and slaw. The crab cakes are also good, no filler. You cannot go wrong with anything here. The Cole slaw is also very good.
google avatar

Janice W.

Yelp
The food was excellent and price was great. No frills for sure. If you are ok with paper plates and self serve you cannot beat it. The older lady taking orders could work on her people skills. Not friendly at all and very short.
google avatar

Barry K.

Yelp
Their seafood is extraordinarily fresh especially those from NC waters. That applies to their uncooked market stuff as well as their restaurant. You get plenty for your money. Downside, much of their offerings are deep fried ( but tasty). Atmosphere is "down-home".
google avatar

Yelp
Love love love this place! Drove all the way from NY for some more of their delicious seafood. Off the boat fresh seafood Wide variety menu Cooked to perfection Welcoming staff Pricing is amazing balue YUM! And the seafood store right there is the cherry on top of awesomeness! Go enjoy a great meal and support local!
google avatar

Randy J.

Yelp
My favorite order is the Sampler.. hands down... you can't go wrong with fresh fish ... fried scallops... fried shrimp and fried oysters.
google avatar

Shaun A.

Yelp
This place is out of the way for me and I've tried them 3 times. Good was very consistent and very tasty worth the drive. And ... large portions for the price.
google avatar

Alex H.

Yelp
More like lack of quality seafood. I decided to eat here because many locals recommended this place to me. I'm not one to complain much about food, but this experience was awful. The flounder extremely fishy and literally tasted like dirt with a rubbery texture. I spit it out because it was so salty. I doubt they cleaned it properly, was frozen, and probably sat out too long to be thawed. The breading of the fish was mediocre at best. Definitely could've been fried a little longer. The fries and hush puppies were soggy. I would give this place zero stars if I could, but the wings were good and flavorful enough to bump this review up to a 1 star. I would eat at Captain D's over this, and I really dislike Captain D's.
google avatar

John B.

Yelp
Excellent food and service. So very happy we found this place on our trip and could support small local business.
google avatar

Rick M.

Yelp
Great place for both fresh and cooked seafood. Wait time is always minimal especially with call ahead orders, if they say 15 minutes it's ready in 15 minutes. Fresh seafood area has very knowledgeable staff working and their recommendations have been spot on!
google avatar

Barbie S.

Yelp
EVERY time I come to visit this part of North Carolina I stop at Quality Seafood. The seafood is SO fresh, seasoned and consistent every visit. Even if I'm not that hungry, I won't leave town without eating here at least once each visit. PROS: Fried scallops Oysters Flounder Shrimp Sweet tea Coleslaw The PRICE. CONS: No locations in Las Vegas. Can't take any with me to Las Vegas
google avatar

Deane H.

Yelp
good food busy take home restaurant with decent prices
google avatar

Yelp
Someone recommended this place to me and it's been a gem in this small town. The broiled shrimp and scallops platter is a small portion, but the seafood tasted fresh. I also went back and got the sampler (fried)- good amount of food including shrimp, oyster and hush puppies. I saw a lot of locals coming in and out during dinner time. Make sure you go early, it closes at 8:30PM and they run out of items toward the end of the night!

Yelp
Came in town for a wrestling tournament and the highlight of the day was eating here. Super friendly folks working here and absolutely delicious seafood. Had the fried platter with flounder, scallops, shrimp and oysters. My wife had the crab cake sandwich. 10 stars if I could!

Shirley G.

Yelp
Food and people good on restaurant side. Market side needs training in customer service.

Heather J.

Yelp
Awesome food!! The cashier was very pleasant. Quick service. Unbelievable how big the shrimp was on my plate. My husband got the shrimp and oysters. Oysters were great. Coming back.

Yelp
Stopped by to try out the seafood for lunch Parking was plentiful. There is also a drive thru pick up window, that I'm guessing you have to call ahead and pick your food up at the window. Seating on the inside was plentiful also. Two friendly cashiers taking orders and there is also a fresh seafood market attached to the restaurant. For a Monday there was a quite a few people inside enjoying the food. I went with the fish and shrimp dinner, along with an order of corn puffs(corn fritters in Virginia). It came with two pieces of trout, maybe 8 fried shrimp, fries, hush puppies and coleslaw. My meal was awesome! I loved the fish and shrimp, kind of reminded me of a place I frequent in Virginia! The fries could have been fried a little harder and I'm not the biggest coleslaw fan so I didn't taste it. The crown puffs were pretty good also. If the food will be this good every time, I will definitely become a regular patron!

Yelp
After reading the reviews, I decided to try this place out as I am a newbie to Elizabeth City. When you walk in depending on what time of day, be prepared for a long line. This is one of the hole in the wall places with a small dining area and a fresh seafood market attached. Food was hot and delicious. I ordered the catfish and it was AMAZING. I want to try the scallops next. The price is not to bad for quality and quantity of your food. The coleslaw was gross though (please keep in mind I am not a coleslaw type of girl lol). Would highly recommend this place!

Yelp
We drove all the way to Elizabeth city to check out a Flea market that wasn't even open.. but decided to hit the Quality seafood company again being we were there many moons ago. Not very impressed this time around. The fish sandwich tasted too fishy..as if they used the fish from the market that didn't sell, the fries were soggy which is sad because they could have been awesome, Onion rings were Perfect but that's the only highlight I can come up with Oh ...and the fish/seafood in the market aspect of the business looked disgusting...No way...never... I'd drive on over to Wanchese on Roanoke Island and get the fresh seafood right off the boat !!!! Sorry Quality.. I think we'll stick to the local spots in the OBX for fish/seafood.

Yelp
I was in town visiting just after Christmas and wanted to have a seafood dinner. We placed a to go order and our food was ready just 15 minutes later. I ordered a sampler platter-chock full of all the fried seafood one could want-fish, oysters, scallops, shrimp (and hush puppies, fries and coleslaw), and ate like a piglet. For $10, it could not have been a better bargain! Not too greasy, not too spicy, just right. ( I HATED the prepackaged tarter and cocktail sauces, though!)
google avatar

Brent I.

Yelp
Quality Seafood has a price that cant be beat. Heres the break down on my favorite bottom feeder, the oyster: Bag (One dozen): $5.99 Peck (15lbs.): $16.99 1/2 Bushel: $24.99 Bushel: $49.99 When you get up into the bushel range, that is an absurd amount of oyster for the price. So GOOD! All seafood is locally purchased, so its always fresh. A+.
google avatar

Liz J.

Yelp
They were really busy. Long pick up line around 7 on a Friday. We went inside and ordered some delicious catfish and flounder dinner! Must try! Friendly service! We are new to town, but we'll definitely be back!
google avatar

Shannon K.

Yelp
Local joint for (mostly fried) seafood but it was excellent. Everything was really perfectly seasoned and cooked. Several items are available steamed or broiled for those not up for fried food. Everything we sampled we loved to include: Fried oysters Steamed Snow crab legs Soft shell crab Broiled scallops and shrimp Fried okra Coleslaw Ok, the corn on the cob was a touch mushy BUT this was made up for by a heavenly roll which is like a cross between a roll and lightly crispy on the outside not sweet donut. I don't know the proper name but I have had these before in upscale restaurants. no beer or wine, no fuss- just Quality Seafood as the name suggests.
google avatar

Karen M.

Yelp
Always excellent! Shared the fried oyster dinner & fried scallop dinner with my dad. Oysters were perfect! Nice batter but not too heavy. Scallops were lightly battered. Good fries. Cole slaw very good! Love the hush puppies! Friendly service in the drive thru!
google avatar

Krystal J.

Yelp
Great seafood. Period. I'm an Elizabeth City native so I love it. Whenever I'm in town I must come here. Many of my friends who attended college here also make it a point to come here whenever they are in town. My family are sticklers and they love the taste, freshness and value. I usually get the sampler. I recently tried their soft shell and fried crabs. They were both tasty but I do prefer the fried over the soft shell. They serve clam chowder when it's cold. Very good and full of clams. Great value, IMO.
google avatar

Diane P.

Yelp
My husband and I had the sampler. This was the best seafood we have in a long time. This is where the locals go.

Nj B.

Yelp
Wonderful service. Great fresh food. Wonderful menu selection. Great price. Came here on recommendation of friend. They were spot on. Bring your appetites!

Yelp
Had the fried flounder & shrimp dinner w fries, hush puppies & cole slaw. If you like fried seafood , this is the place to go. Litely dusted & fried , no batter. Been here about 4 times & same good quality every time. Not healthy eating but delicious. Comes out nice & hot w big portions & reasonably priced. It's always crowded w regular local diners.

Yelp
Lady at register was super rude. There was a line behind me and she told me that I needed to wait for my drinks while she helped everyone else. Then proceeded to give everyone else their drinks. When I asked her if she could get ours, she snapped at me and told me 'your going to have to wait.' Then she left our food on counter and gave everyone else theirs while making us wait
google avatar

Dale F.

Yelp
Local fish market, local flavor, fresh seafood not bad for the area. Decent quality seafood, reasonable prices, good selection of cooked seafood for eat in or take away. They also a fresh seafood counter for your home seafood needs. This is one Busy place inside and at the drive up window too. We loved the corn puffs and soft shell crabs, yum.......... Can't wait to try some more items on the menu.

Elizabeth W.

Yelp
DAMNNNN!! That seafood is good!!!!! I drove 5 hours just for that food. If that dosent say good idk what does!

Mark K.

Yelp
I went there about 3-4 months ago and ordered lunch with my friend. I ordered first and he ordered after me. He got his meal first and finished it and mine for whatever reason never came out. I spoke with the manager and asked for a refund because it was taking so long. So she gave me the refund and insisted that I take a free to go meal. I told them it was not necessary but they insisted. I took the meal home and after eating it got sick as hell puking for several hours. My first time there was my last time there.

Yelp
Best fried oysters and shrimp I've ever had, at a great price! The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is very chill. Quality food at a fast food pace.
