We absolutely adored our experience at the bathhouse. We did have to have persistence to call and call and call some more to reserve a private bath as their online booking service did not work. The persistence paid off. The private couples bath was well worth the time. Hot, jetted and peaceful we enjoyed 20+ minutes of serenity, energy and the healing waters in the bathhouse. I enjoyed a cool glass of champagne prior to our bath and that was absolutely lovely. The public baths looked wonderful and inviting as well. Highly suggest the private if you’re able to reserve it.

Relaxing Experience – But Check the Hours! The bathhouse spa was such an amazing and peaceful experience! The ambiance is calm and soothing, the staff is professional, and everything feels well-maintained and true to the historic charm of Hot Springs. It’s the perfect place to relax and unwind. Unfortunately, we didn’t realize it’s closed on Tuesdays, so we missed out on a full day of enjoying the spa. Definitely check the schedule ahead of time! Aside from that, everything else was perfect. Can’t wait to return on a day they’re open and enjoy the full experience.

I loved soaking in the different temperature pools! It was beautiful in there with the domed stained glass. All the employees I encountered were lovely and helpful! We entered as walk-ins and they accommodated us on the spot, told us exactly what to do, and made it a seamless process. Very relaxing!

Get a taste of the Hot Springs bathhouse with a 20- minute thermal bath. Tub with private room allows one to strip down and indulge. This bathhouse has modern features.

Me and my wife came to Hot Springs for the first time and were kind of hesitant about the bath houses. We ended up getting a private bath which was an aromatherapy the first day and it was amazing, so we scheduled another bath for the next day which we chose the microsilk hydrotherapy bath which was great also. We will definitely do it again if we came back. If you are wanting to do private bath make sure you call ahead and make reservations because they go fast. Quapaw is always busy but wonderful service.

Nice spa with different temperatures of hot tubs. Make sure to bring sandles or you will have to pay $7 for shoes. They also have couples packages

So glad I came here to celebrate my birthday with my sisters. We did the communal pools two separate days since Buckstaff was too crowded to get in. Pools were great. Also did aromatherapy session which was nice though we all enjoyed the pools more. Would definitely come back for the pools. Staff were very helpful.

Best time to go is first thing. After a while hair is just everywhere. It's gross. But there were workers there with nets. The flipflops they give you are awesome. Not comfortable but the fact you keep to keep them is a free souvenir. The workers were very knowledgeable when you had questions and if they didn't know it, they asked someone else who did. The bathrooms were clean. They had changing/locker/bathrooms that lead to the hot tubs. So you didn't have to leave. Because once you leave for like a smoke, you can't go back in but you can stay as long as you want. They have a place you can order food. Nothing fancy but just enough to keep people there. 98. 100. 102. 104. They say you should go to the lowest to the highest but if you are a Gemini like my mom, you can go straight to 104. They also supply the towels but you can't take those home with you like the flipflops The lines get very long too even in the morning. But most people only stay an hour. It really clears out fast. I don't remember prices but it's on their website. I will 100% recommend. I would go again!

Yelp
I visited hot springs and was looking for a bath house to enjoy the famous hot springs. I decided to go with Quapaw for several reasons. - for one low price you have access to all of their thermal pools. I think it was about $30 plus taxes for one adult admission to the public pool, no reservations needed. They have a total of 4 pools, one with a low temperature which they recommend you start off to get your body use to it. They have a medium heat and a hot heat pool. The 4th pool is a regular pool temperature that comes from a cold spring. Now you do have to wear proper swimsuit and rinse off before you jump in. - no appointment needed if you are doing the public pool, they stop admission to it 30 minutes before they close. Early in the morning you will see a line of people wrapped around the building waiting to get an appointment for a massage or a couples soak or something. I did not schedule any of those so I cannot speak on those. - The admission price comes with a locker where you can store your stuff in. Towels are included and you can stay there as long as you like. Other bath houses on the row charge slightly more for only a 25-30 minute soak. In the other bath houses if you purchase a private soak in a tub clothing is optional but like I mentioned before its only 30 min max. - once inside the pool area they do have water available for people to stay hydrated. They do not allow outside food or drinks here but they do have a cafe you can order light lunch and drinks. No phones are allowed here and I really appreciate that and noticed that people did follow these rules. - the staff was great and you could tell they really put in the work to keep the place running efficiently so big kudos to them - from what I seen, they do not have a gift shop where you can purchase swimsuits , so bring your own. They do require you to bring in slides or flipflops to wear inside. If you dont have one they have some for rent(?) maybe idk since I brought my own. -towards the end of the day the showers can get busy and the dressing room is a humid so its hard to get dressed comfortably. Some of the lockers were broken and it took me a while to find an available one. When I go back I will for sure visit them again and hopefully get one of the other spa treatments.

Yelp
Located on the main thoroughfare of Hot Springs, Arkansas this was open and we really didn't want to go back home without experiencing the feeling of soaking in geothermal mineral water. We really wanted to try a bathhouse to experience the old school vibe just to go back in time but darn the one that was recommended to us by several people was closed on Wednesday, so the golden age of bathing went down the proverbial drain and we had to settle for the one for the masses, four pools ranging in temperature from 95 to 105 that you share with another 75 or so people When they opened there were already 25 people ahead of us, was ok but not what I wanted since I had heard so much about the private and individual nature of the next door bathhouse but like I said they close on Wednesdays for maintenance, I was willing to pay the 115 that included a 20 minute massage and a private bathtub rather than the pool you share with so many If I go back to this National Park I would try the one next door even if it is three times more money

Yelp
These guys are just generally unpleasant. I'd use a worse word but my review would get taken down. They're just not cool and the experience was very unpleasant, not to mention hugely overpriced for what you get I'd avoid if I were you, unless you like getting charged to have an unpleasant experience.

Yelp
There were 4 of us. We all opted for the co-ed pools. About $30 per person gains you access to the pools for as long as you want to stay. 4 pools with a varietiy of temperatures, from 98 to 104. There are wooden lounge chairs to sit on along the pools if you need a break and 2 cool showers to use if you desire. You start in the locker room where you leave everything except the bathing suit you are wearing, your towel and flip flops. The pools are easily accessible. There is a small cafe where you can get a sandwich, a drink, a fresh fruit smoothie and tables at the far end of the pools to eat. They offer other spa services as well, massages, foot scrubs, facials. It is clean, modern and very inviting. We all highly recommend. Two of our group had a spa package that included a Swedish massage, a foot scrub and a facial. They were very pleased with the service. My son in law saying it was one of his top 10 experiences of all time.

Yelp
Beautiful bath house, friendly staff and very attentive. We did the private couples soak and facial. Keisha did my facial and she was phenomenal!

Yelp
Go for the experience. We did the couples bath. It's only lasts for 20 minutes but that is long enough. It gets pretty warm so getting dressed in the same room is quite uncomfortable cause you just can't dry off. But the "cucumber water" and cool towel after is a nice touch. Everyone was pleasant but scheduling is very difficult because nobody answers the phone. We had to go on person to make an appointment for the next day.

Yelp
The mineral water really works wonders here ~ my friend and I did the public pool soak and i was impressed with how relaxed my muscles felt with just a while in the pools. We got there just before closing on a Saturday evening (5pm) and Michael was so helpful and kind to assist us in getting checked in just as he was bringing in the "open" sign and closing the doors to any additional guests. Bathrooms were clean, staff was accommodating, friendly and helpful. If you make it to Hot Springs, this is a must see for sure!

Yelp
First time at one of the historic bath houses and we had a wonderful experience at Quapaw. Booked a spa experience (private bath, mud wrap, facial and massage) and it was all amazing. From the first greeting with Rebekah overseeing the spa area to the private bath with personal attendant who made you feel immediately at ease to my massage therapist, Tracey, who was extraordinary. I'd drive 5 hours again to Hot Springs for another session at Quapaw!

Yelp
I have been here before and previously had a great experience but sadly this was nothing compared to what I had before. Even though I was on time, I was rushed out of my bath. A service worker BANGED on the door and yelled at me saying she needed to clean the tub. My magnetic door never shut all the way and my tub was dirty. I felt too uncomfortable to do anything there. There was one girl who was nice but the other girl with short hair rushed me and obviously did NOT clean the tub. The streak was disgusting and the jets were full of scum. As soon as my bath host turned on the jets, hair and black clumps of debris were circling around the bath. This was BEFORE I got in. Last time I came, they offered robes and this time I was not even offered one so I felt super uncomfortable putting my winter cloths on immediately after a hot bath when I was supposed to be going into my ten minutes "cool down" period. Will go to buck staff baths from now on.

Yelp
I have been wanting to do a private bath with my husband at one of the bathhouses for years. We finally booked a trip to Hot Springs and I immediately call to make an appointment. As another reviewer has mentioned, they never answer the phones. It took about four attempts of playing phone tag with Quapaw for us to finally get an appointment. The day comes and we show up to the bathhouse 10 minutes before they open. There is already a huge line wrapped around the bathhouse onto the sidewalk. I started to panic because I knew the line would not die down before our appointment time. I ended up just walking to the front doors and telling the attendant we have an appointment and she let us in! We were greeted at the front desk and asked to choose a bath salt scent and paid. We were then walked to a cafe area to wait while they got our bath ready. Once our bath was ready, we were walked to this small room with a bathtub inside, a table with towels, and cucumber water. We were given directions on how to start the tub once we were ready. The room was really small, so changing into our bathing suits was a struggle. Once the bath was over, we were given cucumber water and a cool towel. We were able to sit in a mingling area where there were other people who had taken private baths. After about 10 minutes, my husband and I were ready to get dressed. I had asked our bath attendant if there was a bigger room for us to change. She allowed us to go into one of the other bath cubbies that was bigger. We had amazing customer service during our visit. The benefits of the thermal water on the other hand is still questionable, but as others have said, go for the experience!

Adam C.

Yelp
The Quapaw bathhouse was pleasant. Currently its 30$ per person and 7$ for bath-slippers unless you bring your own shower shoes. The service was nice and the cost is worth it if you stay for 3 hours atleast. They even offer small bags in the bathrooms to put your wet clothes in. Different water Temps in multiple pools.

Yelp
Historic, functional, and inviting. What a cool way to experience a natural hot spring. Consider this spa over a choice of others in the city. I spent two days here and glad for it. So much to say. Americans are form over function so you may over look this locale but you are in good hands. This area has a proud history of being a wellness spot over the centuries. Fast forward the current structures represent man's attempt to cement a time capsule of sorts of the once common institutional structure that provided natatorium like facilities (indoor swimming). And this building and its sister buildings are a part of the national register. Ownership and facilitation of the Quapaw space is leased by the Federal government and then privately operated. First Off: The limitations of leasing a historical structure confine and limit inclusion of form or familiar fenceposts to an individual in this century that this is indeed a place for wellness and not a throw back to Shelly Winters and Jack Nicholson movie, The Shinning nor One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. No nurse Crachett here. The spa functions well until it doesn't with a burgeoning crush of phone calls, voicemails that go to the sky with no communication loop closure, online booking does not exist. That being said, come anyway. You will be glad you did. This is a community space that allows locals at a discount to enjoy the public hot spring fed indoor pool. From a community standpoint and a thoughtful marketing strategy adding before opening hours with an option for water aerobics to support the community and increase space for wellness tourism would be a nice way to get community buy in & longevity of support. Three levels of experiences. The top floor hosts massage. The main lobby showcases the pools (staggered by water temperatures) and the basement floor is the facials space. All throughout the building are nooks and crannies of additional spa services such as make up, hair salon etc. There is a boutique as well if in case you forgot your bathing suit. Amazon.com is another option should you not find a suit to wear your size or your liking. Overall do drop in & dream, steam away!

Yelp
The facility was clean, and staff were nice and helpful. There are 4 different pools , with 4 different temperatures. You can switch between pools according to what temp you like. You can bring your own water bottle or they can provide you with a cup and free water. They also provide you with towels and sandels. There is also a hair dryer in the ladies room. You can stay as long as you want for the admittance fee. A little pricy but so worth it. Bring a book and sit and relax. My skin felt so soft afterwards.

Yelp
We wanted to do the private baths, however it was very popular and didn't fit into our schedule. We ended up in the public bath which was very pleasant! We stayed as long as we wanted and the staff was incredible! They were very kind and accommodating and friendly. Overall, everyone seemed to be having a good time and we relaxed! The only annoying thing is that they never answer the phone.

Yelp
Pumpkin Paradise package with my wife for her birthday! Awesome experience! From the private mineral bath to the massage, the foot scrub, and the facial! 5 stars for us!

Yelp
I chose the private bath with the micro bubbles. I was disappointed there was no robe offered but even more alarmed at black speckles floating in my water. I saw some grime on the jets. Upon returning home I came down with a horrible bladder infection. I went to urgent care and after the culture came back I found out it is Klebsiella Pneumoniae. This bacteria is from surfaces and usually found in hospital settings. I am on my 2nd week of antibiotics because after 1 week on Macrobid the infection was still present after going back to the urgent care. This bacteria can be antibiotic resistant. Please take my warning to stay in the pool with the chlorine for your own safety. The risk is high with a dirty tub you will go home with something you are not expecting with the private bath. The door to the bathroom would not close fully so it was also very uncomfortable and hard to relax with others just outside the room.

Yelp
Visited Hot Springs for the day (in July) and stopped here to sit in the pools. Bring plastic or rubber shoes - they are required (though they will sell you some.) The facilities are well kept, they provide towels, cold drinking water, and 4 different pool temps. There is even a small cafe with soft drinks and simple sandwiches/wraps/small snacks. Staff is friendly and helpful. Purchased the day pass. You'll feel soft as butter after a couple hours!

Yelp
We wanted to love this place and enjoy the mineral water. We booked a private bath, but when we walked in the lobby, the chlorine smell was so strong that it started burning my eyes. I can tolerate a pool or hot tub just fine, but this was more intense than anything I've experienced. We told them that we couldn't do it, and they would not give us a refund. Disappointing that they have such poor customer service.

Yelp
Wanted to try a bathhouse experience as thought it would be something neat to do. Our private bath was very relaxing, very soothing and calming. The time starts with a wait in their lounge area, where we waited with others who were given a number to get into the public pools. Our names were called and we were led into another lounge area and the moved to our private room where we were given an overview of how things worked. We were each given a cup of water, along with a bell to call our person if we needed more water, which we didn't do, being naked and all. After the bath, we were invited to another cup of water in the lounge area where we could cool off before we left. It was a great fun with lots of interesting history.

Yelp
We spent the entire day here. Got in line at 9:30 for the public pool and soaked until our 1:00 appointment for the all about me package plus micro-silk bath. The bath was ok, but didn't need it with all the soaking. I could have done without the paraffin hand treatment. The exfoliating and mud mask was so fantastic. Tracey has amazing hands. She also did my facial and massage, and it was fantastic. Totally amazing experience, and she was so nice.
google avatar

Patrick M.

Yelp
Greeting staff upstairs are unhappy people. A disappointment for people visiting Hot Springs. Downstairs staff are really nice and give great massages. You just need to ignore upstairs. Can't call in for an appointment.
google avatar

Yelp
I had the sportsman massage and I wasn't disappointed, every review I've read lived up to it! The spa is a bath house that is dates back to the 1800's.

Benjamin B.

Yelp
Worst time ever! We had our Quapaw special reserved for 12:30pm. We finally got in our bath and then waited 50 min after the bath. I realize that there is a cool down period but it was ridiculous. Then we are taken up stairs and wait another 20 minutes. We finally get up and say we want to leave and they say we've been looking for you. We were literally sitting right In front of the desk, and no one ever called our name or asked us who we were. They did give us a refund but we booked a hotel and attraction for the kids so we could have adult time. Wasted $400 and time to make the trip!!! If your appointment is at 12:30 and they tell you 2 hours for the appointment, you should not be starting your massage at 2:20. We needed to pick up the kids! Never coming back!

Yelp
Starting off... we had read about the Quapaw Baths online and were excited to give them a try, especially given the cooler weather. When we walked in, there were tables with disclaimer forms and pens, which I read then filled out. Granted, the same disclaimers had also been present online, which we had already reviewed. Upon walking to the front desk, one of the women just stared at us. No greeting, no smile. She then said that she saw us already filling out the form, "but did you actually read it?". I told her we had, and then she asked us again - "yeah, but did you ACTUALLY read it? do you know what was on it?". She then proceeded to (not quietly) ask us item by item - were we intoxicated? were we on drugs? was I pregnant? was I menstruating? (yes, you are not allowed into the pool if you're on your period). Would've been a completely different vibe if she said "hey, we just have to go through all of these items verbally to ensure the safety of our guests..." (etc etc) - and do so quietly instead of in the middle of the lobby. I then asked if the mineral salts on the table were available for purchase. She said no, and the other women at the front desk corrected her and told her they are available in the boutique. The actual public pool was as expected, with chlorine added in the past couple of years. No one had reviewed with us that the towels were to be hung by key number on the wall, but there is a depiction of the different pools and their respective temperatures just outside of the locker rooms. The pool attendants were very attentive and kind, giving out two different temperatures of water to drink.

Yelp
A lot of changes took place after Covid. And I know they are doing their best. But I do miss how things used to be prior. Anyway.... The steam cave is now closed to the public. :-( And that really stinks. It was really one of the main reasons I come here. But their spa services are still good. (Upstairs) Massages, facials and the personal hot soak is what I do now. I no longer soak in the Public pools due to the fact that it's pretty crowded and the lines are now first time first serve. I don't want to stress out by standing in line and hoping for a spot. So I just book the private soak now. The facials are ok. *The massage is great. But Don't expect deep pressure. Even though you want deep tissue. * Private Soak are $40 but I didn't really have a relaxing experience due to the way the rooms are set up.

Yelp
Wanted to check out and experience Quapaw Bathhouse. I read the material ahead of time, so I understood it is more of a modern experience. I do like the offering of the community pool for $25 if you want the healing properties of the mineral water. They do have to put a little chlorine in there and you must wear a bathing suit. They also have a store where you can purchase their products. I chose the couples' aromatherapy option. You can also get a single private bath. Relaxing and somewhat romantic. We chose the muscle bathsalts, which were eucalyptus. We were in a double whirlpool in a private room. The tub is on a timer. When done, we git dressed and went into the main room to cool off and drink cucumber mineral water. It's worth the money and the time.
google avatar

Emily M.

Yelp
This was not at all what I expected! It looks so much nicer on their website in pictures and I was very disappointed. First we paid for a couples private bath. All the baths are right next to each other in a row but divided by very thin walls and you can still hear everything going on through the bath house rooms. Second and my biggest issue, it was very dirty!!! I expected much cleaner. Just look at the old mildew in my pics from the tub. The whole bath I was thinking of how I wanted to clean it and I wonder when the last time the did a proper cleaning was. This was not day old mildew from that day. It was caked on and on the walls too. Third, you pay $$$ to take a take spa bath and it literally was worse than a bath I could make myself at home. The lady filled the tub with water and poured some epsom salt in. That's it!! Not even any bubbles. I make better salt baths with bubbles at home. The only reason I gave two instead of one stars was the smoothie at the end was very very good lol. There's a smoothie shop near the entrance and she uses fresh fruit and they are amazing. (Not included in the bath price). But if you come here for a dirty bath, at least get a smoothie after.

Yelp
Recommend soaking in all the "pools" of various temperatures and cooling off on the one in the back. The staff explains everything you need to know to enjoy your time there. There is also a small cafe that also sells alcoholic beverages, coffees and snacks.
google avatar

Carolyn B.

Yelp
The staff were very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. I went to the public part (not the private baths) and did not do additional services. The facilities are clean. You must have a bathing suit, no streetwear clothing, and sandals. Upon entry you must shower from the neck down with soap. Then they have 4 pools with different temperatures. They have chilled spring water available to guests. While you may have your phone in the pool area you can not have it while IN the pools. They also have a little cafe in the main bath area. After I finished my time in the hot spring baths I used the cold shower to cool down. They have swimsuit dryers that spin the water out of your suit leaving it lightly damp.

Kierra A.

Yelp
Wasn't really the greatest experience. Got there there was a pretty decent line outside My crew and I got in line behind the last group and asked is this where you wait for appointments the people in line ahead of us say yes. The signs on the door say they don't open until 10am. We thought this was odd since they told us to arrive at 9:30 for our appointments, but we thought nothing of it. Eventually, we made our way to the front desk to check in for our appointments and once there were scolded and told that 10 minutes we're going to be removed from our appointment service time because we were late for check in. There was no clear indication that we were supposed to jump the line in front of all the other people who are already there waiting. After this exchange of words, we proceeded with our massages, which were great. After that, there was no clear direction on where to go next. Our crew had paid for the thermal pools so three out of the four of us proceeded downstairs roaming around to figure out where exactly we were supposed to go what exactly we had to do to gain entrance since no one told us directly where to go. We made our way in and some of the staff inside the thermal pool area scolded us for having our phones out mind you we didn't have them out, actively on them. They were merely in our hands because we came downstairs in our robes after massages so we obviously know we're going to put our phones in our pockets because they're not getting in the water with us. Here my issue is not what was said, but definitely how it was said we are grown grown we don't need to be lectured on what to do and what not to do around water with electronics. We are then scolded until we need to go rinse off before we get in the pools so we go ahead and do that. We come back and see our towels on the beach chair in our again immediately scolded it that you can't leave your towels on the chairs they must go on the hooks on the wall, which again no one ever told us. A couple who was sitting nearby was kind enough to tell us that the numbers on our locker keys correspond to the color-coded numbers above the hooks on the wall. What we did not know is that there are obviously lockers with keys inside the locker rooms, and those are the key numbers that correspond with the color-coded numbers on the wall. We have keys from upstairs in the massage spa area. After that we finally decided to go ahead and get into the thermal pools despite feeling a bit uncomfortable and like we were being picked on, we got in and felt like all eyes were on us. The four black girls in the room, the four black girls in the entire bathhouse is what it seems. We just felt out of place or like we didn't belong, which was unfortunate and uncomfortable. Overall, I feel like they need to do way better, have clear posted signs, and directions on what you should do and where you should go so that guests (especially those from out of state or have never been there before ) aren't left to feel as though they're being picked on the entire time that they're spending their hard earned money to enjoy your services.

Yelp
Absolutely great experience if your staying in the area. Water felt amazing and my skin feels great after a swim. However when I went back to the changing room to change my clothes they were covered in ants. I left with ants biting me.

Yelp
Historically charming and easily my favorite house. Quapaw Baths offered a rejuvenating retreat steeped in history and relaxation(google where the water comes from). In gorgeous Arkansas, this oasis of tranquility transported me to a bygone era while delivering a blissful escape from the hustle and bustle of modern life. Great escape from the city and tucked deep into nature. One of the highlights of Quapaw Baths is its steam room, where you can immerse yourself in scorching hot temperatures that leave muscles feeling deeply relaxed and rejuvenated. The intense heat creates a detoxifying experience, leaving visitors left me feeling so cleansed. Another must-visit part is the ancient water bath, a testament to the rich history of Quapaw Baths. Stepping into the soothing waters is like stepping back in time, offering a glimpse into the healing traditions of generations past. Rejuvenates the body, mind, and spirit. Highly recommend!!!

Yelp
I reserved for my husband and me 20' of the private bath to soak in minerals and other good stuff, it was very nice. We had reservations already but I noticed that the public pools were quite full the day we went. The people who work there were very friendly and kindly guided us. When we arrived they gave us white comfortable robes and slippers. After the bath, Allan (who was my massage therapist and esthetician) guide me to the massage room. I had a Swedish massage with aromatherapy and hot stones. The service was pampering. My husband and I returned to our hotel relaxed. The building is old and needs some improvements. But it's a beautiful building full of history. We will surely return.

Yelp
Private bath was relaxing in a nice size jet tub. Spring feed, 25min. Appears that they may be short staffed as we waited for our next service to begin for over 1/2 hour. They provide slippers & robe & lockers with pkg. Ryan is excellent and hold great conversation as well. So was so relaxed i fell asleep during massage and separate foot message :) For price this was definitely worth it after two days of hiking 11 miles.

Yelp
Friendly Staff and wonder place to relax. Spent 2 hours in the pools and enjoyed every minute.

Yelp
Cool experience. The baths were probably a little over hyped and over priced but glad we gave it a try. Not something I have to do again.

Yelp
Loved being so pampered here on my mother daughter trip. I can't say anything but to go, splurge on the works and enjoy yourself! It's so fabulous!!

Yelp
A had a very wonderful and relaxing massage by Rachel G! And the best massage I've ever had and I have had many. I am a little old lady and have many aches and pains, and she outdid herself! I am from out of town and drove very far to this area and was very very pleased. If I ever come back, I will hope that she is still there! Thank you, Rachel , you made my trip!

Yelp
It was a fun experience overall, but while we were on the waitlist, one of the staff members came over and told us we couldn't sit inside. The couple sitting across from us mentioned they were just waiting for their daughter to finish at the bathhouse, yet they weren't asked to move. It felt like an awkward double standard--while we were told the inside seating was reserved for those with reservations, they were allowed to stay without being asked to leave.

Yelp
Looking for relaxation? Maybe a brief history lesson or even an interesting story? Then this is NOT the place for you. I'll bullet point my issues/concerns: - called back 15 minutes after reservation times, 45 minutes of waiting in total. - private bath tubs are old with mismatched tile, simple hot tubs, and drains that don't work properly - water in tub was only half-filled and didn't seem clean, as I had black gunk floating in my water. - bath attendants offer zero information or history, even after they ask if it's a first visit and yet there are tip jars/envelopes everywhere. - $40 for 20 minutes to sit like a dope in a tub half-full. One cannot submerge there body without lying back entirely. It's no wonder there are only 2 bath houses left. If this is a typical bath house experience, there's no need to return. Do yourself a favor, save your money and soak in the hot tub at your hotel.

Yelp
Really enjoyed the public bath experience. The attendants explained the process well and were very kind. We were not rushed and were able to experience all of the heated pools. It was not overcrowded and the pools were clean.

Yelp
It's kinda the main attraction in Hot Springs, unless you prefer the outdoorsy stuff. But, Quapaw could do so much to make what they offer a better experience, without sacrificing their commitment to their own history. The bathhouses are the main draw to Hot Springs. Marketing materials tout the history and health benefits of the spring water baths and the historic customers who enjoyed them, which include celebrities and mobsters all the way back to the early 20th century. Sounds great. But, if you've ever visited a large spa (like Kingspa in Dallas) the services and facilities seem limited. And while the building is "historic", it really just seems old. We watched some youtube reviews from travel vloggers to get up to speed on what to expect. Overall they were correct, and could not have accounted for Quapaw's inability to handle an unexpected surge in customers during the holidays. Here's how it works: 1) make a reservation and you get "on the list" of 40 people who are allowed in the spa PER DAY for $20/person, 2) walk up and get added after those 40, or 3) book a private pool 20 minutes for a couple for $60 total. They open at 9:30 and apparently people were lined up at 7:30 waiting to get in. When we arrived at 11 am, they were announcing that most people waiting were not going to get in. And what are all those people waiting to do? Four pools inside of varying degrees from 140 degrees F and down await. Once in, you can stay the whole day if you want to. Most don't, thus space opens up for walk-ins. But, it's only four pools. We decided to pony up the $20 more for the private pool and save the headache of waiting. With some luck a spot opened up the following day. The private pool was quite warm, much like a hot tub in design. The privacy was nice. At 20 minutes we'd had plenty and got out feeling satisfied. There is a sitting area outside with cucumber water and cold towels. We stayed ten minutes and left feeling very chill. Overall a positive experience once we fought through the process. My suggestions would be to automate their wait list, either through the web or at least make it text-message based. Integrating that with an online schedule would reduce the frustration we and others felt at showing up and being turned away. It would also reduce the need for people to crowd around their desk, which seemed risky under pandemic conditions. And I suspect this is something that only bothers me, but I think they could update the building without losing the historicity and make it a nicer experience that preserved the impact that early customers felt coming here. Just one guy's opinion!

Yelp
If you are visiting Hot Springs, then a trip to Bath Row is a must! The are two historic bath houses still in operation and Quapaw is by far my favorite. They have exceptional packages and the staff is extremely professional. My husband and I go here twice a year to get out of the DFW area and have a couples weekend.

Yelp
We could have done the public pools, which are just smaller swimming pools with a bunch of people in them. We opted for the private couple bath. Not sure what I thought it would be like, but my husband and me sharing a spa hot-tub (like you might have in your bathroom) was NOT it! Everything seemed old, even the shared hot-tub; and, it just felt very dingy (to me). The hot spring experience is something we can say we have done now, but the tubs are not something I would want to do again. With that said, the massage was wonderful, and I would recommend.

Yelp
Their Massage therapist are always on point. I've visited Quapaw 2 times and both times my husband and I have had the most amazing experience. Their therapist seem to figure out exactly what the issues are within your muscles and work it out for you. It's rare to find a massage therapist that's a 10 and they have an entire staff of great therapist. I highly recommend them, you can thank me later.

Yelp
This was certainly an interesting experience. I did a private bath and a sportsman massage package. The bath wasn't my favorite. It's the original bath and kind of walled off with thin walls. Didn't bother me but you can hear everyone around you...which isn't the most relaxing. The baths were just whirlpool tubs, nothing added to the bath, water was lukewarm and only half filled. I added more hot water and it was good. The baths weren't very clean though, there was definitely mildew and they def hadn't been scrubbed well. The massage experience was completely different. I had Alan as my massage therapist and it was a terrific massage. Great pressure, very attentive and relaxing. I would definitely recommend him.

Yelp
The idea of having a bathhouse in Hot Springs is great! But there are so many things that could have been done better to provide the best experience. First, Fordyce does not answer their phones, so any question you have must be submitted by a form on their website, so plan ahead! These take 2-5 days to answer! We did the couples basic tub experience with the thought of going back again. We stopped in a day early and made reservations for the next day. My grocery store clerk is warmer and friendlier. These people were tired, and didn't give the impression that they wanted to be there. Line markings are not clear so people hanging all over lobby. NO information was provided even though we were newcomers other than to wear flip flops. I asked about towels and robes. Towels were provided but not robes. So we packed our swimsuits just in case they were needed. They were not. We got there early. We asked a very simple straight forward question: We are here early can we check in and go to our appt early? The answer should have been a simple, no, but it was like pulling teeth to get the answer! Maybe it was because of the chlorine they breathe all day? They were going to check us in and we could pay to go to the open pool. Then they were going to check us in and send us to the cafe. Then to a waiting area. An hour later, we came back, checked in and went to a waiting area until our bath room was ready. We were then ushered to our bath. The tub was already filled. We were told to push a button when we were ready, and the jets and 20 min timer would start. 20 min was long enough by the way! Only two cups of water were provided so we asked for two more before we started. Here is where the fun begins. The room which was mostly stall dividers, not walls, was only large enough to accommodate the tub. There were no places to sit. There was one hook to hang items that could only be reached by one person. There were no bins to put clothes in. There was a very narrow shelf at one end of the tub. The floor had WET black mats with holes. It was awful! Now keep in mind that the rooms are incredibly steamy hot. So we struggled to remove our street clothes without getting them soaked on the wet floor. Already in the steamy room I was imagining what it would be like after the hot tub to put these clothes back on in the tiny room!! Oh my oh my! So then we climbed in and tried to find "the" button! My husband said there were several buttons on the side of the tub, but once in, he couldn't read the labels! Finally the tub jets started. Ah, this part was indeed wonderful! The tub itself was a fun experience! My skin was so soft afterwards. When it ended, putting clothes back on was actually worse than I had imagined. So here are my Quapaw bathhouse tips: 1. Make reservations online. 2. Ask questions in person a day ahead. 3. Be prepared for the chlorine vapors! 4. If possible, don't wear street clothes! Wear a mu-mu, wear a sundress, wear a robe, wear a trench coat- and go commando! One garment to simply remove and put back on when done! 5. Bring a hair bonnet thing if you don't want your hair to get wet. It's a roomy tub and your head will slide under. 6. Ask for extra waters to drink 7. Ask to be shown the exact button to start er up! 8. Don't pack a towel or bathing suit for this particular experience. 9. Don't expect a changing area or dressing area.

Yelp
This is a review for my experience with the thermal baths/pools: it was wonderful! Here are all the things I wanted to find out before I came (and couldn't find anywhere). *The entire experience is super body-positive. We are big girls. 70% of the people here are also bigger, including the staff. Absolutely zero body-shaming at the desk, in the locker rooms, or in the pools. 100% would recommend it plus size folks, men and women. *The thermal pools are $25 + tax. If you don't have rubber shoes (flip flops or crocs) they will sell them to you at the desk for $7ish. *The total for two of us to visit the thermal pools including two sandal rentals was exactly $70. *You could easily tell the folks that have been here before because they came in their bathing suits. Saves time. After you check in at the desk, they'll send you to the dressing rooms to shower. *Everyone must shower before entering the pools. The purpose is to wash sweat off your body. Just shower in your bathing suit. There's soap in each shower, and a chair. I was done in 45 seconds. You walk from the locker room right into the pool room. *Yes you have to wear a bathing suit. No shorts. Some women had bathing suit tops on and biker shorts on bottom. They frown on shorts because they don't want colors to bleed into the pools, but they did allow it. *There is a little cafe IN the thermal pool area with a few tables. Dip in the pools for maybe 15 minutes each, then grab something from the cafe, then do it all over again! There is no time limit. Stay as long as you like. *They hand you a towel when you walk in. No need to bring one. *There are lockers for your things, and plenty of them. They'll hand you a key (no charge for this) on arrival. Return it when you leave. *No need to be nude in front of anyone if you aren't comfortable with it. Some ladies changed out in the open. I changed in the shower stall behind a curtain on arrival, and when I was finished I changed back into my regular clothes in the restroom. *All of the pools have jets. There are corners that have multiple jets and this feels really great on aching ankles or knees. *The locker rooms have lockers, showers, restrooms, a counter with large mirrors, and a blow dryer available for use (no extra charge). *They open at 10am. We arrived at 9:15am and there were four people waiting in line. There were about 25 by the time they opened the doors. Half the people waiting with you have spa appointments, and the other half are going to the pools. Once they open the doors, they'll split you into two lines. Easy peasy. And fast. No one waited more than 10 minutes. *We spent roughly 2 hours in the pools. When we got out there was no line on a Sunday around brunch time. Anyone that walked up could've walked right in the pools. I think all the freak-out about the line in other folks' reviews might be from rural folks who aren't used to lines. It was *not a big deal* for this city girl. I'm used to short lines. They move quickly. *There is free ice water in the pool area. Grab a cup before you hit the pools. Every time you get out, refill your cup. Stay hydrated. I drank about 10 glasses and it allowed me to stay in a lot longer. *Wear your rubber shoes to the pools. They ask you to wear them when you're walking around and place them next to the pool stairs each time you're going in and out. *We took our sweet time. I laid on the lounge chairs for a while then went back in (there are maybe 15 of them - everyone throws their towels down. Most folks don't seem to lay in the loungers. We did - it was lovely.) I hope this helps someone wanting to experience this! It was wonderful and we'll definitely do it again when we come back!
