Family-run since 1966, Quatman’s half‑pound cheeseburger with chips is Cincinnati nostalgia—and still a weeknight ritual for many. Praised by Cincinnati Magazine and CityBeat, the Norwood original remains the purest expression of the classic local tavern burger.

Very cute café w/ outdoor seating. Simple menu with bar favorites and the prices are great!!! Local staple since 1966. Definitely recommend for a yummy lunch. Fries were crispy and the chicken tenders were very juicy and tender. The sweet tea had a hint of lemon.

After hearing about Quatman burgers for many years, I finally stopped in for lunch to try one. The cheeseburger is very simple, like you might get at a friend's cookout. There was nothing really outstanding about it, and I thought it lacked a crispy char to bring out the beef flavor. Coke is served in cans, so no free pop refills. Our service was excellent: warm, friendly and efficient. You feel a bit like you're going back in time at this no-frills cafe. Maybe that's all you need here.

Google
While definitely being a no frills restaurant, the food and service did not reflect that. You can't beat the prices, and the servers were Johnny on the spot at all times. Their burgers are right up there with any in the city. Fry's came out hot and crispy. Check their website for daily specials, which make an inexpensive menu even cheaper. Do not expect fine china and gold plated silverware.

Burgers were ok. The buns were cold though. The kids meal was good.

I LOVE Quatman Cafe....and I have for years. Went for a Monday Cheeseburger Special....prob the best deal in the City...Giant burger, fries, a and drink (Draft beer Included!!). The thing is, no one was there...yes it was past lunchtime but I have never experienced that. Hope they are not losing popularity. At any rate...burgers were wonderful..,but it was so cold in there that I ate and took my meal home because it was so uncomfortable....must be known because a couple of guys came and one put on a sweater...it was easily 100 degrees outside.

Google
Wonderful establishment with a genuine commitment to the community! It was a pleasure partnering with them for the recent Swim Championships hosted in Norwood. Great food at reasonable prices, friendly staff, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere that keeps us coming back. I’ll definitely continue supporting them personally! Encourage you to give them a try and get hooked!

Google
This was our first time here. We had the cheeseburger special. The food was delicious and met all expectations. Our server was excellent, making us feel valued, answering our questions, bringing the food promptly, checking on us as necessary without bothering us, and just very professional. We left a personal item on the table and she brought it to us before we made it to our car. Even though we live on the east side of the Cincinnati area, we will be back.

When I walked in I was confused if it was a seat yourself situation or wait to be seated so I sat at the bar. I was greeted by a man and I asked him if there were any specials that day and he said "no". I asked if they had Mic Ultra on tap and he said "only in bottles". I got the Mic Ultra and a Pepsi and looked at the menu that I had to request. At that moment I seen they did have a Saturday special. I ordered the special for the day. Once my food was delivered they never came back to check on me, I was glad I ordered 2 beverages at that point. The food was really good, but the service was not. The cheeseburger was an excellent size for the price. It was full of flavor and juices. The fries were cooked perfectly and were shoestring style. At the time I was there it was not busy, maybe 25 all together (inside/outside). Since the food was a special that day it came with fries and a drink.

Yelp
This was such a unique experience. The absolute lack of a vibe was an awesome vibe. No music playing caught me off guard at first but allowed for great conversation between friends. Good service and really good burgers. They don't skimp on portions, the burgers were juicy and the bacon was crispy. A classic cheeseburger. You can't go wrong with that and crispy fries. Quatman Cafe doesn't try to reinvent the wheel. They know who they are and don't try to be anything they're not. What a delight.

Yelp
This place is OK. My daughter and I stopped in for lunch yesterday during her workday lunch break. While busy and hard to find parking - we were able to order, eat and get out in the hour she has for lunch. My daughter ordered the Fish Sandwich, a side of fries and a soft drink. I ordered the Cheeseburger, side of fries and soft drink. My daughter said the fish was fresh, fried nicely and she thought it was ok. She said that it lacked any seasoning or flavor but was ok. I'm really surprised that this burger was voted best in Cincinnati, honestly. That must of been some time ago with different meat. The burger that I had, while still a little pink inside (the way I like them) was incredibly dry and flavorless. It was perfectly round and the consistency of a frozen patty and lacked any salt and pepper when it was cooked. It definitely was not the burger I was expecting when seeing the tag of 'Best' for it. All the toppings tasted fresh and the fries were good. The burger is just not that great. We'd stop back and try more of their menu. The service was friendly and quick.

Yelp
Yum Yum yum! Loved the fries and the sandwich! Definitely want to go back to try the cheeseburger. The place has a classic diner vibe, which I really appreciated, and all the service was delightful. Would def go back on the regular

Yelp
Long time Nowood tradition Xavier Hotspot for burgers for over 50 years. Can't beet the 10 dollar lunch special. Each day is a different sandwich: cheeseburger, pork bbq or ham and cheese. You get fries and a drink either a can of pop or a draft beer. I had a light yingling.

Rachael R.

Yelp
Been coming here since the 80's. Love the cheeseburger special and the cozy down home feel

Yelp
Our Y group went to Quatman's for lunch today. It is a no frills bar and cafe. Mondays special is burger, fry, and soda or draft beer for $10. The draft beer comes out in a frosted mug. The burger was great, and the shoestring fries, were hot and crispy. What wasn't no frills, was the service. The service was friendly and on point. The menu is limited, but with good food and great service. Give it a try.

Yelp
Quatman's Cafe is easy to get to, good food, great service. I go there every time I'm in the area. Lots of free parking. You will enjoy it.

Yelp
A really good spot. Simple. Great burger. Great drink selection. Had a buzz about it ona Thursday at lunch time. Need more places like it

Clinton E.

Yelp
This place has been here my whole life. It is consistent, delicious and cost effective . It's simple, you come in, you sit at the bar, you have a burger and an (always) ice cold mug of hudy. It really is that simple, but it is still one of the best burgers around. Specials for lunch almost every day. You just can't beat it.

Yelp
It's crazy to see that my last review was over ten years ago! While the price of the cheeseburger special has gone up (only by $2.50) and they've moved their location (just slightly) the food and experience is still the same no frills deliciousness. They have indoor and outdoor dining now and they let you order lettuce and tomato on your burger, but you still get your food on paper plate and the burger special still comes with fries and a drink of choice (including a beer if you want). The burger with onions and pickles is the way to go and it's delicious every time. I have never tried anything else here and I don't know if I ever will. It's exactly what I want and while I know people love the other items on the menu it's hard not to order the cheeseburger when I know it's perfection. If you've never been, they do have a parking lot along with street parking. The servers are friendly and helpful too. You'll see a lot of regulars here as well as families. This one of those old school, welcoming spots that feels like dining at a family member's place for a get together- especially now that they have the outdoor seating. It is no frills, but what they do they do well and at a great price. We stop by at least once every time we're in town.
google avatar

Yelp
Been going for 25 yrs but last 3 visits something has changed with the burger meat. Flavor not a fresh as before. Something has changed. Cheaper meat grind?
google avatar

Angela E.

Yelp
For what it is, it's a great spot. I love that you can get a burger, fries and beer for just $10. Super budget friendly for a quick meal. Good bar seating. Friendly service. Was not blasting music which made it good for conversation. I live nearby and know this will be an easy spot when I'm out of food.

Yelp
Quintessential neighborhood burger place with cold beer and great handmade everything with GREAT daily specials. You definitely feel like a local when in Norwood

Yelp
Started with the bean soup. It was Ok. The cheeseburger was very good. They were busy for a Tuesday afternoon.

Yelp
AMAZING burgers and fries at this little hole in the wall. Great place to hang out with friends and family and catch a Xavier game!

Yelp
My friends and I stopped in here after bowling on a Saturday night, as we were in the mood for a good burger. We were not disappointed! It was quiet in Quatman's for a Saturday, so we were seated and ordered right away. We all went with the classic burger and fries option. My friend was a bit disappointed to learn that they have discontinued their onion rings, which she said was a true staple there for a really long time. When my cheeseburger came out, it was great! It was your classic burger; came with all the toppings I chose and was a nice thick size. There were plenty of fries on the side with it as well. It was kind of fun to see our food on disposable plates--made it feel as though we were at an outdoor summer BBQ down at a neighbor's house! It is also priced very well. I think my meal and drink in total were under $15, so it's good food for a good price! Would recommend it if you're in the Norwood area!

Annie H.

Yelp
Burger fries and a drink (soda or draft beer) for $10! They do this special a few times a week and it's a bang for your buck, the food is DELICIOUS and fast! They give you your bill at your table and you walk up to pay, awesome you can leave whenever you want!
google avatar

Grace D.

Yelp
Generous parking, great patio, prompt service and great atmosphere! Seemed to have a lot of regulars there. That's always great to see! A friend of mine had heard about their mock turtle soup, a soup neither of us had ever heard of or tried before. We were intrigued and had to give it a go! I was thinking that the soup might be a little heartier but was runny and very sweet. But like I said, I have never had it before and have nothing else to compare it to. So overall, I thought the flavor was alright. It is a really nice place to frequent for a summer's day lunch!
google avatar

Kyle B.

Yelp
A Norwood staple and for a good reason. The burger is really good, with all of the fixings. The fries are thin and crispy, reminiscent of a McDonald's fry. I mean that as a compliment. The specials all seem really good. Had a fish sandwich and it was great. Drinks are nice and cold, nothing like a draft beer in a frosty mug. The prices, wow. Can't top that. The restaurant is super clean with lots of TVs for sports. Wait staff was quick and attentive. Loved this place and will frequent it.
google avatar

Jenni H.

Yelp
3 stars in 2018?! What was I thinking?! This place is a Norwood staple. I remember spending the night with my childhood friend and walking across the street to get her dad, Mr. Carmack, 2 cheeseburgers; came in a brown paper sack. They still do today. This place just feels like my Norwood childhood. The burgers are amazing. I NEVER order burgers when I'm out to eat but here, how can you not?!? If you're looking for diners and dives, you don't need Guy Fieri for this one. This is a MUST.
google avatar

Declan L.

Yelp
Bare bones, but good burgers. No frills, paper plates, canned sodas, and concise menu. Prices are alright, food is solid and quick. Person I went with walked in and said "this place has aura" if that helps you.

Margaret F.

Yelp
Disappointed in our check, ordered just the fish sandwich but charged for the special, guy at cashier could not have cared less that we were over charged

Yelp
When in Cincinnati we try to find some independent, classic, iconic neighborhood restaurants. Quatman Cafe fitthe bill. We were greeted upon arrival, daily special explained, and told that they're known for their cheeseburger...so of course that's what we ordered. A half pounder with lettuce, tomato, onion and pickle. Served with chips or $2.50 for upgrade to shoestring french fries. We also asked our waitress about another menu item, the "mock turtle soup", and she surprised us by dropping off a sample cup to try. Friendly place, great service, clientele looked like regulars!
google avatar

Tammy W.

Yelp
If I've said it once I've said it twenty, hands down my fave old school Cinci burger joint. The staff are the best and food is always hit and yummy.
google avatar

Marianne G.

Yelp
Had the cheeseburger special last Saturday, it was delicious. Service was great and prices very reasonable.
google avatar

Yelp
Another great way to end the day. Great food, great service, great tradition. A generational favorite for year. Oh, did I mention on Monday, Thursday, and Saturday, all this plus great service, $9.00
google avatar

Katie J.

Yelp
So, I felt like this place was a little hyped up. I ordered the Ham & Cheese sandwich which was large and delicious! But I ordered a side of vegetable soup, and it tasted like it came right out of a can. Our server was nice, and it's clearly a spot for regulars! It's a nice down to earth type diner that doesn't have overpriced food, so I appreciated that. They also have a parking lot and outside seating.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is awesome. I was super surprised when we walked in and it was not busy! We got the chicken tenders and cheeseburger to split and two beers. Around $20 which is a great deal. Everything was delicious (esp. their honey mustard!) and came out hot and fresh. Service was great and definitely will be returning.
google avatar

Mike G.

Yelp
I never knew this place existed in Norwood until some friends took me there. There claim to fame is a burger and fries. To be fair ir was good but not great and my soda came in a can. I think this place lives by word of mouth and the Ted Bundy phenomenon-"I scored 7 touchdowns and 700 rushing yards in one game in high school ". The next time you hear it, it will be 8 touchdowns etc... Same concept, good burger, someone says great and it rolls when in reality it is just that, a good burger not an "8th touchdown"touchdowns.
google avatar

Yelp
I've been wanting to try Quatman's forever. Finally I made it to Norwood and had the time to stop by. Quatman's is rated to have one of the best burgers in Cincinnati. After my experience, I would have to agree. I had a cheeseburger. Everything was prepared fresh as you can immediately tell. From the beef to the veggies to the bun. Friendly service topped my visit. Unfortunately I couldn't enjoy a ice cold beer with the burger but the next time I come I will. I'll highly advise you on your visit to get the mock turtle soup...it's absolutely delicious!
google avatar

Yelp
We have a Quatman Cafe in Mason, so I'd never been to the original. It's as you would expect - a "Mel's Diner" kind of feel to it. You can tell the regulars, and even though we weren't regulars, we were greeted warmly by both staff and some other customers. We all had the lunch specials, and there's just something about a Quatman burger, it just tastes so uniquely wonderful. Of course, I ordered Onion Rings and my wife ordered fries, just so we could trade them... Who can decide on one or the other?! Just a darned good burger and excellent fries/rings. Highly recommended!
google avatar

John C.

Yelp
Didn't pick this place as the others I was with are local to the area said they have the best burgers. So we gave it a try and the burger wasn't bad, no different than any other burger joint. The homemade chili was excellent though, I liked that a lot. The sour cream and cheese made it all the more better. Service was great even when they were super busy with indoor and outdoor tables all full. They did have a weird item on the menu "Mock Turtle Soup" which I am not too sure what that is all about and was too scared to try it. :-)
google avatar

Gary L.

Yelp
It was my first time coming to eat at Quatman's after years of passing by on my drive to work. I came with my two friends and we were very surprised in a good way. The staff was friendly and helpful. I had the corned beef and it was excellent. I am picky about my deli meat and this was high quality. My one friend had the turkey and really liked it. The other had a ham sandwich and the bean soup and enjoyed his. For the price it is the best deal in town! Will return soon
google avatar

Luis S.

Yelp
This is definitely one of those great local places. They have been doing it right since 1966! Thursday's special is their cheeseburger, fries & drink combo. Their burger is a nice thick piece of delicious beef, topped with lettuces, tomatoes, onions and pickles (if you're into that). I added the bacon to it, and was not disappointed. Fries are a little bigger than the steak n' shake ones. I also ordered a half bowl of chili, which was pretty good too, meaty and tasty. They have a few beers on tap, and all their pop is either in cans or bottles. I guess keeping with the old school theme they don't do refills. The staff and very friendly and happy to help. I've been to the one in Mason, which was good too, but to think this one is way better. Will have to make another trip down here
google avatar

Eric M.

Yelp
Solid lunch while traveling in the area. I had the chicken salad sandwich with chips. My wife had the chicken tenders with a side of fries. We both went went ice tea. Very reasonably priced and quite a bit of a selection. Seemed like a popular local place. Service was good and waitress was friendly. I won't hesitate to come back. Nice patio space, should have sat outside on the day we were there. Maybe next time.
google avatar

Yelp
Sometimes, you just want a simple all-American cheeseburger or deli sandwich, fast, and at a good price. Well, Quatman is definitely the place to get that fix. They do simple right and at a great price. My lady and I have been here a few times (especially since it's a mere six minute walk for us), and each time, we've really enjoyed it. The menu isn't huge but features all sorts of sandwiches from deli style to grilled and fried. Have 'em with shoestring fries, potato chips, or onion rings (caution, may be out currently due to an onion ring shortage). They also have great daily specials. They don't have a full bar but do offer a very nice selection of brews on tap and in bottles/cans. My lady and I went on a Friday recently when they had their fish sandwich on special (comes with fries and a drink or regular draft beer for $8.50). I had that with a pint of Westside Amber Ale (drink local ) while my lady had a cheeseburger and fries. Our order came out SUPER fast, in about ten minutes, even though the place was a bit busy. My fish sandwich was nice, crunchy, and flaky and paired very well with my beer. My lady definitely enjoyed her cheeseburger too. As for the price? We didn't even spend $20 for the whole meal. Can't beat that! Quatman does simplicity right! Just good all-American sandwiches served fast at great prices. It doesn't have to be extravagant and huge to be a good sandwich or burger. Absolutely worth the trip, and not just a six minute walk.
google avatar

Yelp
Not sure why it took me so long to review Quatman Cafe, but I've been a regular for about a decade and think they've got the best burger in town. Where most restaurants look to cast their net as wide as possible, QC works to do a few things really well. They also price their product fairly. Service is fast, friendly and their restaurant is clean. I almost always order the special (even on the days when it's not the burger) and it never takes more than 5 minutes for my food to arrive. Specials also include a drink, which is nice. Hope QC is around for a long time!
google avatar

Jaccard W.

Yelp
The only thing that isn't straight chill and kicked back out this place is parking (sometimes), and the local sports games on TV easily watched at the bar. They are not a craft beer bar, but they do offer a few drafts served in a frosted glass. What's better than a beer in a frosted glass with a $7.50 burger & fry combo. They offers a lunch special each day of the week, Thursday being my favorite. The burgers are made in-house and cooked still plump, offered with all the fixings. Casual dinning room, but it can game tight. Even if you go early (11:30) because everyone else was thinking the same. Oh, and they are an XU shop!
google avatar

Jose F.

Yelp
Very simple and tasty burgers. The lunch combos are very popular, and inexpensive, with the locals.
google avatar

Robert P.

Yelp
This is definitely a 5 star "joint." Everything is good and affordable. Special yesterday was a handmade 1/2 lb. cheeseburger, w/fries and a draft beer for $9. Who does that?? This special is in place 3 days a week. Many craft beers on tap for $3.75. Service was great and the customers were all having a great time. Nice TV's for sports.
google avatar

Rusty H.

Yelp
The staff was super friendly, and the food was pretty good! I ended up getting their burger and fries. The burger was filling and pretty cheap. And the fries were crispy and hot. They have different specials throughout the week so stop by and see what they have!

Robert S.

Yelp
Good food and good service at a reasonable price in the heart of Mason, Ohio. Outstanding cheeseburgers and all the other food items are great as well.
google avatar

Michael C.

Yelp
Pros: I love the fact the patties were hand made. The temperature and texture of the burger was excellent as well as the fixings! The cost compared to the size of the burger was also a good surprise. It was overall a solid lunch option. I ordered fries and a cookie and it was less than $10. Cons: I didn't like that the fries cost a separate price. Burgers should automatically come with fries (or chips) and an upcharge should only be made if you order onion rings or some other non-fry item. Also the biggest failure in my opinion was that the burger was NOT SEASONED...at all. Tasted like a hunk o' meat. I'm going to need the Quatman's to step up the seasoning game. It took a star away from an otherwise 5-star burger experience. Not so humbly submitted, Michael C.
google avatar

Rose K.

Yelp
Had a basic burger for 6.99 and it was really good plus the staff was super friendly and made a lot of eye contact even when they were not waiting me which was at first weird but then I realized they were just nice people who liked their job and you could tell so definitely will be going back. I felt very welcomed and wasn't rush out either. The place appeared very clean and had a lot of cool stuff to look at. It's small so space is limited but worth the visit.
google avatar

Lauren R.

Yelp
I love it here. One of the top 5 "best of" burgers (and arguably bars) in Cincy. Local, friendly lil place. Their specials cannot be beat. Food is always out fast and always yummy. Call ahead for large or to go orders. The burgers are pretty thick, so come hungry. No "gourmet" topping options, just a solid basic delicious burger. They serve amazing onion rings - protip: get the bbq for dipping them in! They also have shoestring (thin) fries which are my fav.
google avatar

Stacey V.

Yelp
Best burger in Cincinnati!!! Don't get me Wrong Cincinnati has a lot of Good burger spots but quatmans takes it a step further with 0.5lbs burger pattie and all the fixings. Tonight we ordered takeout from quatmans. (Don't judge but a nice burger and fries are sure fire ways to help cure a hangover and Christmas in quarantine got a little carried away). Anyway the ordering process is easy, give them a call and pick up in 15 min. quatmans in Norwood is a neighborhood bar. It's even located on quatman street. You know it's going to be good because it's always full of locals devouring delicious burgers and drinking cheap beer. They have daily specials on their web site. Defiantly check because they are always on point. Saturday is a cheeseburger, fries, and a drink for 8.50 doesn't get any better then that. After picking up our food, we headed home, they wrap everything up nicely and had plenty of condiments in the bag in case that is your thing. Everything was hot, tasty, and delicious. There is a reason their burgers are the best.. they are huge! We are talking .5lb patty on a tasty bun and all the fixings it's high quality too not too greasy. It was so good that I didn't even snap a picture to share.might have to grab another next week you know just to take pictures... take one for the team... So if you like burgers...tasty fries.. and supporting a local establishment do yourself a favor call quatmans and get some take out. You won't regret it!
google avatar

Brigid S.

Yelp
Very friendly service and the burgers are fantastic! Heard good things about this place for years but this was my first time there. They did not disappoint! They do have patio seating but it was a little chilly so we sat at a booth inside. I will definitely go again!

Deborah B.

Yelp
Just got back from doing the burger special burger fries and a cold beer, who can go wrg with that,Always friendly and great food.

Yelp
It is official. I have had a Quatman' burger!! The guys at work are regulars here and have told me for over a year to try one of their burgers. It took a while but I am so glad I finally made it. The burger is simple and it's simply tasty! I went ahead and had a cherry coke and the fries are awesome!! This is definitely a great burger spot and they menu showed more interesting options to try at a later visit. You will be full when you leave so come with an appetite.
