We stopped by this tiny café and were pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere was welcoming, and the staff were friendly. We had a really nice meal—everything was fresh, tasty, and made with care. It’s a small place, but the food and experience were genuinely enjoyable. A great little spot if you’re looking for a relaxed and satisfying meal. Would definitely visit again!

Visited on the strength of online reviews and wasn't disappointed. We had the full breakfast and eggs benedict and they were both excellent. Cooked and presented to restaurant standard...and considering the quality it was served very quickly too. Prices were very reasonable and service was friendly with a smile 🙂 Very much recommended!👍

Used to actually rave about this place and hadn’t been for a little while. First off they’re charging extortionate prices for orange juice only to see Lidl/aldi orange juice piled in the back on the floor…not a snob but at least provide better quality to match the price. Menu lied about what was being served - double yolks eggs? Nope there was one yolk per poached egg, customers aren’t blind. Paid £9 for 2 small over cooked poached eggs and some bland haggis, the water/grease from the poached eggs or haggis made the bread all wet and soggy which was grim. Partner paid £8 for a breakfast wrap which couldn’t even be held as it looked like it wrapped by a confused child. Contents mushy and not a lot of taste. £3.45 for a small coffee, pricey and poor, rough experience here.

Such a lovely little cafe, we had a lovely waitress serve us who spoke to us like we were old friends! The full English was HUGEEE, and my eggs benedict was one of the best I’ve ever had, the sausage was a great addition too! A protein fruit smoothie, Diet Coke, full English with extra hash browns and beans and an eggs Benedict with avocado and sausage was £35 which was very very reasonable! Will be returning!

Paulicarus had the inspired idea to search YouTube for " Best breakfast in Newcastle." This came up and thus here we are for a full English (£9.95) and a breakfast stottie (£5.95). A small cosy cafe ( seats about 20 at most, plus a couple of pavement tables.) Set under the bridge and close to a number of pubs that Paulicarus has highlighted for a visit later. Good ambience. Super food. Proper butchers sausages and bacon. Toilet upstairs. Opens 9 am to 3 pm 7 days a week. Large black coffee £3.95.

100% Recommend! If you are in Newcastle and looking for breakfast I would definitely recommend you come to Quay Ingredient! The food and drinks are as amazing as the pub in the name! I had the vegan sausage and hash browns roll and my partner had poached eggs, both were honestly the best thing we have eaten whilst staying in Newcastle! Really good vegan/vegitarian options and the staff were so amazingly friendly and helpful (I especially loved the two Asian ladies who seemed to be running the show, they run a tight ship and are very good at it!). Thank you for one of the best breakfasts I've had! ❤️✨

Google
I originally saw this small restaurant on Tyneside Life's YouTube channel and couldn't wait to visit. What a lovely cafe on the quayside. It's a little hidden away but it's well worth visiting. The argument could be made that it's the best breakfast in Newcastle. I went for the brioche french toast with maple syrup, bacon and a side of hash browns. The bacon was cooked perfectly and the toast itself was to die for. My fiancé got a Cajun chicken stottie and left me half to my delight. The chicken was very succulent and the spices tasted fresh and very high quality. The coffee is also of a high quality, we got a cappuccino and Vietnamese style iced coffee and both were delicious. After sampling a Costa coffee later the same day we actually preferred Quay Ingredient's coffee. Compliments to the owner and chef as the place was very busy but the food arrived promptly and we were treated better than we would have been in most chains. Worth the visit for fantastic food and coffee. They're open 7 days a week until 3PM. Support a great local business!

Atmosphere; stressful. Unfortunately, it was very apparent to customers that the staff were stressed, unhappy and there was no system in place. The individual who appeared to be in charge appeared so harassed that they spoke rudely to the staff, leading to waitress’ rolling their eyes and presenting unhappy. You could tell some of the waitress’ were trying their best however, the atmosphere was strained. Service; chaotic. The staff did not appear to know who was doing what and there was a long wait for everything; whether that be for an apple juice or a coffee. Drinks appeared at all different times, some at least 10 minutes before others meaning some of our group had almost finished before others even got theirs. This was the same with the food. There was no explanation before ordering that food would arrive when it was ready, instead of all together. Food was ok however, one of the plates arrived with the food presented upside down. Throughout our visit, we continuously heard other people having to chase their drinks orders as their food had arrived and drinks, such as an orange juice, hadn’t. You have to go up to the service station to pay; this does not work. You end up standing over the drinks and food waiting to be served. The individual who appeared to be in charge is then dealing with customers, dealing with money, dealing with drink orders, speaking to staff about service and it is all chaotic. This could be a lovely little cafe however, unfortunately at our visit, the lack of structure and system in the team made it a poor experience and we would not recommend.

Yelp
Very friendly service, everyone greeted us. Although small, it is very welcoming. The food was absolutely spectacular. It was just so tasty and made with love. We will definitely be back and I can't wait!

Yelp
Lovely food, came out quickly and was very tasty. I ordered the Avocado and Roasted Tomato Eggs Benedict + Parma Ham and Hashbrowns. It looked and tasted amazing. Service was great.

Yelp
This place is another reason why I am slowly converting to the indie coffee cult. We popped in for some breakfast right after we got off our train yesterday and honestly, I am so glad we did. We got the last table which I felt pretty smug about. There are about 8 tables in the whole place and it seems to fill up really quickly when the breakfast rush hour crowds are out. I had the Trio Stottie and it was delicious! Freshly cooked and nicely seasoned. The orange juice I had to drink was chilled and freshly squeezed, which was a nice touch. The lady who runs it is friendly and helpful - just what I like to see! She explained how the menu worked and what the wifi password was. One thing I think they could work on is the WC. It is a bit of an obstacle course to get to it. You have to manoeuvre around a ladder and go up some stairs. Once you get there, it is a tiny little cupboard space. But apart from this, I think I will definitely be returning to Quay Ingredient! It has now become one of my favourite haunts in town. And it is a 10 minute walk from the station - convenient!

Yelp
Every time I find myself in Newcastle, Quay Ingredient is a must visit. A good selection of teas, bagged and leaf, great coffees and a wonderful array of brunch items and sweet treats means there's something for everyone, every time. Although its small interior does limit group sizes and could mean a wait for a table, it's never too long and the staff are very friendly and attendant so any delay flies by. On my recent visits for breakfast, I've opted for the Eggs Hebridian. Essentially Eggs Benedict with the ham replaced by good ol' black pudding. The black pudding is tasty, with plenty of pepper and has a great texture with good chunks of fat too; the hollandaise tastes homemade, and I'd be surprised if it wasn't. I've also had the kippers on toast. Truly heavenly. Grilled to perfection, with some crispy edges and that buttery like smoothness that makes kippers a fantastic, if underrated, way to break one's fast. If your down by the quayside and need a bite to eat, I cannot recommend here highly enough.

Yelp
I came here with a friend to have brunch and the food was pretty good. The stuff is nice and the place is cosy. There aren't many seats but I think that's what makes this place cool. 9/10 would recommend

Yelp
Great breakfast in Newcastle near quayside, the station and the city centre. I had the stottie trio breakfast sandwich, really delicious! with great sausage and the local stottie bread made a perfect bun. The coffee was really good and the fruit smoothie and fruit scone were really good as well. Staff was very friendly and attentive, with a very experienced waitress/owner training a brand new employee.

Yelp
I really enjoy a good breakfast out, it's rare that I find people who are happy to get up as early as I do, so when someone suggests a breakfast meet up I'm yet to refuse the offer. I've tried to get here a couple of times in the past, maybe about four spread across the last three or four years or so and finally got a chance without anything getting in the way. I don't drink coffee, but the smell is lovely and fills the little cozy place. I'm an eggs benedict addict, and my inner hipster wantedto order the one with the avocado, but it would have beeen very easy to order one of the particularly good looking full English plates. The staff are lovely, and everything is home made and perfectly cooked.

Yelp
Exquisite local business! Delicious homemade food in cosy and intimate surroundings. Friendly and efficient service guaranteed. Having sampled most things off the menu now I can honestly say I have never been disappointed. Personal favourites include the cinnamon pancakes and the breakfast sandwiches accompanied with a lovely cup of coffee to fuel me for the day. Food is fresh and made to order so there can be a small delay but well worth the wait. Not suitable for larger groups as this is a small venue with tables seating a maximum of 4 people. You also can't book a table so it can get quite busy at weekends......but please note this is because a visit to Quay Ingredient is a must and its reputation is now very well known amongst locals and tourists!

Yelp
People really do rave about this little place! We certainly enjoyed our Sunday brunch here, although I think I found mine more special than my husband found his. Be prepared to wait, although they do turn tables over as quickly as possible - it isn't a place to linger. I'd always thought this place would be generic, but it isn't at all - everything is home cooked, they do have some unique offerings, and the hot drinks are served in beautiful, rustic mugs. Apparently the coffee is good, as my husband reports! The orange juice didn't taste fresh squeezed - more like the posh kind you'd find in the store. I had the asparagus and avocado benedict which was lovely. The asparagus was perfectly cooked, with a bit of a bite and not mushy at all. The generous portion of avocado was buttery. The eggs were perfectly poached, and the hollandaise sauce was delicious and not laid on too thick. Great stuff. My husband enjoyed his full English, but didn't feel there was anything special about it. Maybe the offerings that sound a bit more interesting end up being the best choices here? The prices are certainly good, and I suggest going for one of the benedicts.

Yelp
I love cozy spots for breakfast and Quay is perfect! Great coffee and breakfast was tasty. I had eggs and toast, simple enough, but the ingredients were obviously fresh and the meal was more than enough. My husband had the pancakes which were more like crepes. I had a taste and would have enjoyed more but he managed to eat them too fast... It's a small place so don't plan to bring a large group but breakfast for 2 to 4 would work well. Everything is made to order but the wait isn't long. Heading back to Newcastle this month and Quay will be on my must-do list.

Yelp
The boss comes from China,it's amazing. Her husband is friendly. The food is delicious !!!!! I hope I can join it every day

Yelp
My wife and I are mostly vegan but sometimes eat fish (call it pescagan). This place was more than happy to completely customize a vegan breakfast for us. In fact, the waitress specifically said, "We'll make whatever you want... Vegan, gluten-free, whatever it is, we'll customize if for you." We ultimately ended up going with an avocado toast with grilled asparagus and smoked salmon, but it was nice to know that we could always return for a vegan version of the traditional English breakfast if we'd like. Thank you, Quay Ingredient, for the great service, food, and accommodations!

Yelp
This quaint breakfast stop was just what I needed when I arrived in Newcastle. I had just gotten off a 3 hour train ride that left Glasgow at 5am and I was starving! The restaurants location is incredible. It is under a bridge in one of the prettiest parts of Newcastle in my opinion. Inside it is a small place that maybe seats 10-12 people. I ordered the avocado and poached egg toast. The eggs were perfectly runny however the avocado was a bit to salty for my taste. All in all it is a great spot and really started my day in Newcastle off right !

Yelp
Cool breakfast spot. Good food good coffee. i ordered the avocado, poached eggs and toast. Was very happy with what I ordered. Service was quick and very polite. The restaurant is located under a bridge for a added plus.

Yelp
Stopped off here both mornings when I was in Newcastle for the weekend. Both mornings it was packed and my friend and I had to wait for tables. You are invited to sit at the bar and given a drink and the menu to sample. All the food sounded and looked amazing. I opted for the full English breakfast the first time and had the asparagus, poached egg and Parma ham the second time. Both were amazing, plentiful and of quality ingredients. The coffee was also very enjoyable. Waiting times weren't too bad for sure a small and busy place! The layout is fresh and modern with tables, chairs and two sofa's. Sofa's were comfy but a bit awkward for me and my mate who are both big lads. Would definitely recommend and will visit again next time I'm in town!

Yelp
Excellent small cafe in Newcastle quayside. Lovely tasty food and great prices. Particularly recommended are the liver & onion sandwich and the goats cheese baguette.

Yelp
Based on the recommendations seen on Yelp, we tried this breakfast place for the first time today. The experience exceeded our already high expectations. Everything about it was great. The service was excellent despite the small space being packed and with a queue of hungry diners snaking out the door. We didn't have to wait long and were offered to sit at the counter for coffee until a table became available and to peruse the temptations on the menu. This also gave us a chance to observe the busy kitchen and serving staff - multi-tasking, unflustered and slick. Very impressed. Upon seating, our order was taken quickly and with helpful recommendations. Our warmed croissants arrived quickly - this 'oven fresh' presentation makes all the difference. Buttery and fresh, these were hoovered up with jam and butter. Soon after, the main events were delivered to our table: Full English (with some customisation accommodated for) and the avocado / poached egg combo. Both delicious and with obviously very good quality & fresh ingredients, which is quay! (pun intended). I had to have another coffee as the first one was so good. Feeling very satisfied and set up for the day, we settled the bill - good value - and stepped out into the handsome streets of Newcastle to explore. Can't wait 'till next time to try something else.

Yelp
Really nice breakfast spot! Very delicious ingredients and fresh coffee. The staff are really lovely! Very nice. The queue can get big. They offer bulletproof coffee also! The location is small. Great local art. Steps from the quayside. Worth a stop by!

Yelp
Best coffee I've had in England! Huge cappuccino served in a mug/bowl. Delicious Eggs Benedict with Parma ham and could've eaten more. Had to wait for a table as there aren't many but friendly staff and good price.

Yelp
Excellent excellent excellent!! This is the second time I have thought the hollandaise sauce to be exceptional. Their Egg Benedict with spinach was heavenly. They eggs were perfectly poached, the spinach perfectly wilted, and the hollandaise perfectly smooth and buttery. The Danish pastries were fresh and crispy and soft. The service was impeccable and the cozy little place perfect for lazy Sunday brunches or tea/coffee outings. Highly recommended!!

Yelp
Wow. Great place for breakfast! Varied menu and they cheerfully coped with my dairy allergy, offering to make scrambled eggs for me with soya milk and no dairy! Wonderful freshly cooked food, generous portions, couldn't fault them.

Yelp
Six months on and we returned to our favourite brekky haunt in Newcastle - astonished that the lady who served us back in February remembered us! She is very welcoming and makes you feel like a special customer. The food was as delicious as ever and the service was really fast, despite the place being busier than ever. Highly recommended.

Yelp
The BulletProof Coffee was the best coffee I have ever had! I'm going to have to fly back from Australia to have another!

Yelp
Best coffeeshop in Newcastle! I've tried a lot of different coffeeshops in Newcastle and this is definitely my favorite. It's in a great location, has comfortable seats, and free wifi.
