The Best Food Trucks & Carts In NYC - New York - The Infatuation

"Shúkos serves Guatemalan food that will make you forget all of the other lunches you ate in the same week. Most of the menu is made up of sandwiches (called Shúkos), but our favorite order here consists of the papas shúkas with steak, which comes with a pile of fries topped with mayo, grilled meat, and salsa dulce on top. Shúkos bounces around from the Bronx to Midtown East, but lately they’ve been posted up at East 75th Street and 2nd Avenue on the UES." - hannah albertine

Where To Get Lunch In Midtown East - New York - The Infatuation

"Shukos is a Guatemalan food truck that’s especially good to know about if you want to work cut-up hot dogs on homemade corn tortillas into your lunch routine. It lives on the corner of 41st and 3rd Avenue, and you can get a ton of food for under $10 - including the mixtas tortilla and a pile of fries with steak and mayo on them." - hannah albertine, bryan kim, matt tervooren

Very clean area, especially considering all the traffic from the main ave they’re on. Fast, friendly and knowledgeable staff that took the time to tell me what was in the traditional dishes i was interested in. The Pulique I had just now already tells me I will be here lots during the winter for all those delicious broths. Super soft yet help together chuchitos “tamales”. Flavor all throughout each dish, looking forward to trying out rest of the menu. I had to come back and tell you about the appetizer-Dobladitos and typical dish called Hilachas must try. I don’t understand why this place isn’t flooded with people ordering. The beef in that Hilachas was super tender n full of flavor, the price was also very surprising cause I stuffed my face with what I normally pay for one dish.

This place is a hidden gem. My friends and I ended up here after having a bad experience at a nearby place. We were a large group and they took us in right away. The service was excellent as he made sure to answer all our questions as this was all our 1st time at the restaurant and was very attentive. The place is small but it feels like you are visiting family. It was very clean as well. Everything we ordered was fresh and delicious. Thank you for turning a bad night into a great one! I highly recommend this place.

Very clean. Is the only place around where you can get shucos and real tortillas. The waitresses usually serve your order pretty quick and accurate. The owners are usually on top of everything. If it feels pack is because is not a big place but if feels cozy. If I could change something would be just the music

Great Guatemalan food. It’s my second time here and it’s a bit small that’s why it gets busy faster but the food is why I keep coming back.

This restaurant has been on my Google Maps for places to go for quite sometime. My fiancé is from Guatemala and when we visited the country together, he introduced me to Shukos. They are one of my favorite Guatemalan foods. So when I searched and found a place that makes and sells shukos, we were both very excited. We finally had an opportunity to try it yesterday on our way back to the city. The restaurant looked very nice. They even sold Sarita ice cream! We ordered El Cuate, Super Shukos, and a steak mixta. Overall the food tasted good, the homemade Tortilla was delicious, and the shukos were okay, not as delicious as the ones in Guatemala but solid enough. The sausage was a bit questionable. Unfortunately by the time we got home we both got very sick. My fiancé thought it might have been the cabbage. I think it was everything because it all came out. We were vomiting all evening. I'm still so sick today. Definitely food poisoning 😫. Be careful what you order there. We had leftovers and we threw it out. Scared to eat it and be more sick. Unfortunately we will not be returning.

Used to like the restaurant, until they began to over salt their fish & food in general. To top it off if you ask for tap water(that is free in all other restaurants), be careful because they will try to charge you $2 for it on the bill. They have been called on it several times, and they continue to try to charge $2 for it.
