Was in the area after a visit to Lake Shrine and decided to grab a bite at Que Padre. My girlfriend and I walked in and were immediately greeted by the host, possibly owner. Since we hadn’t eating there before we asked what was popular and what he would recommend, the host articulately described both the preparation for the carnitas and chicken mole tacos. We are sold and ordered those, along with a fish taco and a side of guacamole, chips and their habanero salsa. I couldn’t helps to notice their agave bar, a shelve crowded with top notch tequila’s and mezcal’s - I checked my watch and it was only 12 so we opted for waters. The outdoor seating was very pleasant and the server friendly and attentive. Food was brought out shortly after ordering. The food went above and beyond exceeding all my expectations. The carnitas was balanced and perfectly marinated, the meat was tender. The mole and chicken was amazing, reminded me of my trips to Oaxaca - genuine, flavorful and authentic. I did not get to try the fish taco - it was halibut though, my girlfriend was set on devouring her taco once it was put in front of her and said it was too good to share with an empty plate. Another standout are their tortillas- they are made on premise and have a really nice texture and flavor. The guacamole was excellent and the portion generous. After our meal the host brought out complimentary churros, the dish came with 2 dipping sauces, a chocolate fondue and a sweet and spicy dip. Both hella good! We’ll need to come back for dinner, looking forward to sampling more dishes and their mezcal’s! If you find yourself in the neighborhood - I highly recommend a visit to Que Padre
