It's time to spice up things in 2026! If you're ready to expand your taste buds and try Latin flavors, then look no further than Que Rico Cuban Cafe! The vibe, ambiance, friendly & stellar service, and top notch food are muy excelente!!! First off, you must order the CAFE CON LECHE (coffee w/ milk)! The strong Cuban espresso will definitely caffeinate your world and you might even ask for a second cup to go! I might be a little biased, but it is the BEST cafe con leche that I've ever had on the Northshore. The cafe con tres leches is another good choice as well. You can enjoy and savor every sip of their coffees any time of year! Next, you must try the Havana Sampler (tostones- fried plantains, maduros- fried, caramelized sweet plantains, croquetas, fried yuca) with fried pork chunks. Yes, I know - everything FRIED makes the world go round! We have only one life to live so you might as well enjoy all the yummy foods from this diverse world of ours! Remember to dip everything in the homemade mojo sauce (it has a strong garlic flavor)! The Cuban sandwich is one of my favorite sandwiches and is a great lunch option. When I want to splurge, I have to get the special oxtail soup. The oxtail is fall-off-the-bone tender and full of flavor. The chef is very creative and offers special dishes throughout the month. Anytime is a good time for cocktails here! I have enjoyed many of their specialty mojitos - the mango and watermelon were both so refreshing to enjoy on a sunny day. They even have a mojito flight if you can't decide on one flavor. I also enjoyed the caipirinha (Brazilian national cocktail), which surely packs a punch (but in a good way!). Que Rico is a spacious, beautifully decorated restaurant and is the perfect place for a small or even larger group! On certain nights, they even have salsa dancing, which provides for a fun and more lively evening! Make plans to visit Que Rico for coffee, drinks, or enjoy a meal with family and friends ...it will be a fabulous fiesta FUN-day !!!

Que Rico Cuban Café is such a gem. The lechon is absolutely delicious, tender, flavorful, and seasoned perfectly. It is the kind of dish that makes you stop after the first bite and realize how good it really is. The ambiance is warm and inviting, with a cozy, home-style Cuban vibe that makes you want to sit and stay awhile. Even though I ordered my food to go, I could tell the dine-in atmosphere would be just as enjoyable. The service was amazing. The waiter who took my to go order was super nice, welcoming, and made the whole experience easy and pleasant. You can tell the staff cares about their customers. Portions are generous, prices are reasonable, and the food tastes fresh and authentic. I will definitely be going back and trying more from the menu. Highly recommend!

We had a great time. The flight of Mojito were so good. The place was very busy and fun. Im not familiar with cuban food but it was so good. I wish the service was a little quicker but they had a huge wedding party and the place was very busy.

Stopped by for some dinner on a road trip. I had the fried pork and it was phenomenal. Service was awesome. Highly recommend, would definitely be a regular if I was local.

I was visiting friends and family in Louisiana and one of our friends recommended this place. Funny story this place used to be my old place of employment years ago when it was Mi Patio. Walking in, very different, felt like they are still kinda renovating the place towards the back by the restrooms. I found it off that half of the dining space was empty, but I believe it's used as a dance floor at night. The staff is very friendly and colorfully dressed. Service overall was ok, they definitely were busy and the two guys were running around trying to get everything done. Our waiter was very nice, we ordered appetizers, coffee and food. But the order everything came out was off. My kids got their kids meals and we got half our appetizers first which I wasn't upset about. Our coffees came out then there was a big gap and we got our entrees before the rest of our appetizers came out. The waiter later told us they accidentally sent ours to another table. No biggie. Portions here are perfect, price point is really good and the presentation is decent. Flavors are very delicious. And the coffee is solid. I got the cortadito and a tres leches iced coffee. The kids meals were hefty but my kiddos didn't care for the bread they used. It wasn't normal sandwich bread and there wasn't enough cheese. We ordered the Havana sampler and a cheese and corn dip. The dip was amazing and the chips served with it were delicious. The sampler was pretty good, definitely found two things I didn't care for. My SIL got the Cuban sandwich and she said it was okay. I got the lechon pork platter and the pork chunk platter. The sauce on the pork chunk platter was amazing I added it to my lechon pork platter. The lechon pork was perfectly cooked and delicious. I wasn't a fan of the pork chunks, too dry for me. The tamal was delicious. Realized I really love lechon pork. We also ordered the flan and the coconut flan. They were both good in their own ways, however the texture of the coconut flan was what we preferred, but the taste of the regular. All in all we enjoyed our food, if you go during rush hour don't be in a rush. Glad Slidell has better restaurants.

First off, LOVED our server....the food wasn't the best. but the cafe con leche WAS!!! Rice tasted live bad rice a roni.

I was looking for a lunch spot on a Saturday and decided to try Que Rico. We were quickly seated and the server was very attentive. I ordered the Lechon Asado (add a fried egg) and it tasted okay. The other guest had the Palomilla Cuban Steak. The steak was a bit overcooked unfortunately. The serving sizes were pretty large and I had enough to eat later. We shared an order of the Garlic Buttered Cuban Bread. It was a large portion also but didn't really taste that great. My Mojito Mocktail had bad mint leaves in it so that was disappointing. If I'm ever in the area, I'd probably pick up the Lechon Asado to go. I just wouldn't go out of the way to eat there.

Good food but the service is terrible. My friend and I waited 1 hour for our food. The waiter delivered the appetizer together with the entree for me and my friend. Throughout this ordeal, the waiter had a terrible attitude like we were bothering him. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant due to the horrible attitude of the server and 1 hour wait for food. The last straw was the server attempting to walk away with the tablet before we completed the tip selection part of paying. I'm sure he was going to tip himself well after the 1 hour wait. That's sneaky, underhanded and wrong. We won't be back. Hard pass on this place.

This is one of my favorite stops in Slidell. I get the fried pork chops... phew. Fire. Their plantains are out of this world and their black beans?! Would be hard to replicate. Super authentic, great vibes, great service. Must stop in if you're passing through.

Que Rico Cuban Cafe has been serving the Slidell area for many years! Historically they were located by a coin-operated laundry in Old Downtown. I ate there many times over the years, so I was glad to see they had reopened west of town. They are in a strip mall with lots of parking. The interior space is open and has plenty of seating. The wait staff is prompt and attentive. It's a great place to enjoy Cuban Cuisine! What is good about Cuban Cuisine? Lots of things! One aspect of Cuban food that is great to try are the plantains! These banana-like fruit are both starchy and sweet depending on their state of ripeness. The riper they are the sweeter they are. These are served both ways in the Havana Sampler, along with some yucca frites and ham croquets. This is a great appetizer to try! Moving on to entrees, there are chicken, beef, and stews that are all excellent. These tend to be cooked down to an extremely tender state. Sides often include rice and beans. Cuban Cuisine relies on black beans as their primary legume. These are spicy and great, but not too spicy. Another great Cuban food to try is their sandwiches! One of these that's popular is the Midnight Sandwich. This is reportedly popular for late night meals in Cuba, but is enjoyable at any time! Another great pork-based sandwich is the Cubano! Cuban sandwiches tend to be pressed, and made with great bread that is crispy on the outside but rich and chewy on the inside. Some other Cuban things to try are Cuban coffee and dessert. For the latter, don't miss the Flan which is a great caramel-covered custard.

The food is so freaking good! We always have great service and the atmosphere is a total vibe. One of our favorite places to go in Slidell. Also-it's important to note that the owners are amazing people and fed people for free after a major hurricane!

My second time visiting. Service was great! The watermelon mojito was excellent! I got the pork and my son got the sea bass. Both so flavorful and excellent! Do yourself a favor and try it!

Absolutely incredible. Que Rico has the best food in Slidell, the best vibes on the planet and the best habanero sauce you will ever taste. It is in a league of its own and if you don't believe me, PLEASE go see for yourself. I have long been a fan of this amazing family restaurant. When I first discovered it years ago it was in a little strip mall in Olde Towne Slidell next to a sketchy looking Washateria and maybe had 4...or 5...(at the most) parking spots. I don't even know how I first heard about it, but I know had to have been word of mouth because looking at it from the outside I would've never went in there willingly. After that first visit I was hooked and never wanted to go anywhere else. Everything about it was perfect. The music playing, the family serving the food, the amazing food!! Sadly, they lost their lease and moved to New Orleans where they were successful and popular as well, because, of course they were! Slidell felt that loss, I can assure you. I'm happy to say that they are now back home where they belong in Slidell! The new location is amazing because the space is so much larger so they can introduce more people to their food. The only thing that's changed is the space though-they are still the best Cuban food you will find for hundreds of miles around with the same wonderful owners. They actually care about this city and its wellbeing and are passionate about serving them wonderful food. And it shows. You can feel it in every single inch of this restaurant. Amazing.

Delicious! Out shipping and we just happened upon this place. What a great find! Everything we ate was delicious, but the appetizer tamal with roast pork topping was our absolute favorite and a bargain at only $8. Service was good, servings plentiful, and price was extremely reasonable. We will be back!

I am from Puerto Rico where we eat a lot of Cuban food. This is some of the best. Great food and service.

So good! Was hard to choose but Donna steered us straight and we had great black bean Bowl with pork and I added a seasoned fried egg. Nice people cooking fresh tasty meals in an open high ceiling space with lovely art and a loop of Havana playing on a super Hi-Def 4K screen. Please stop in and enjoy the great food and wonderful hospitality!

Service was fast and pleasant The pictures don't do the food Justice. The rice and beans smelled delicious and tasted even better Thw music and decor was lovely. If you are in Slidell please stop by. You won't b disappointed.

The food and drinks are amazing! We get really good service when we are there. Make you feel like you are the most important person in the whole place.

Amazing food and atmosphere! Wish I knew it was here sooner. We had the Mojo chicken and the Cuban steak which both had so much flavor. Great bartenders and music as well. Will definitely be back

The food was authentic, delicious and plentiful! The pork melted in your mouth and was very flavorful. The yuca was tender. The sandwiches were tasty. Everything was reasonably priced. The service was attentive, helpful and kind. The restaurant was very clean and had a nice Cuban flare about it! If you like Cuban food, you will enjoy this great little cafe.

After hearing so many good things about Que Rico I finally got to check it out for myself. The restaurant decor is super cute & I was definitely feeling Havana vibes. Our server (Mary V I believe) was friendly. My husband & I split an order of the chicken croquetas appetizer & lunch special half Cuban sandwich with fried plantains & rice on the side. Everything tasted great. Even the ladies restroom had a night club atmosphere to it with the neon pink floor length mirror. I would absolutely go back again because they have an extensive menu of some really delicious sounding food. Check them out whenever you're in Slidell.

This restaurant was great. I have nothing negative to say about anything from this restaurant. I was surprised that they had ramen , but it was actually some of the best that I've had. The server was great and offered recommendations for what to have there as well as other places in the city. The table layout was a little meh, but it could accommodate plenty of people. They also have a sitting area and dancing on certain nights. I would definitely go here again.

First of all, as soon as you enter the place you feel like you are in the best place, the music and atmosphere is so great. Then the service is so spectacular. Very attentive and gives wonderful recommendations. Had the cubano sandwich with sweet plantains and it was delicious. And then the churros were so scrumptious. Will definitely be back!!

So sad they left New Orleans for Slidell. I live in Metairie. A little too far for me.

This place deserves a standing ovation... the food, the people, the atmosphere are all on point. We found this place randomly and decided to give it a shot... we will have to drive all the way from home to Slidell because it is worth it. We had a Havana Sampler as an appetizer, it comes with 4 different foods and all of these are delicious. We also had a Cuban Tamal with rice, beans and maduros. Everything tasted amazing. The Cuban Espresso is a MUST too.

Decided to try the Seafood Ramen! It was not disappointed. Also, be sure to try the Pork Tamal.

OH MY GOODNESS this place was ahhhhmazing. First the decor is adorable. Next the service was top notch. Our waiter was so personable, told us about the area, was very knowledgeable about the menu, and made fantastic suggestions. I had the ramen....I know RAMEN at a Cuban place???? It was THE BEST ramen I've ever had. It was so fresh and the spice was perfect. I'm only here for a few days for work, but if I lived here I'd be here weekly!! My first and only 5 star review!

This was my first and definitely not my last visit. Had to go with the Cuban and it was the best I have had. The bread was thinner and so soft inside but pressed/toasted crunchy. Service was great as we sat in the dining room. Prompt and friendly. Now let's talk decor. Such a cute vibe in here. Tastefully decorated and sets the vibe of the space. Will be back time and time again for sure!

Soy cubana y cada vez que viajo busco siempre un Restaurante Cubano pues tengo mis raíces bien arraigadas.He almorzado aquí en Que Rico Cuban Café y desde que entramos un joven llamado OVIEL cubano también nos recibió con una sonrisa sin saber quiénes éramos o sea de su tierra.La comida súper deliciosa se parece mucho a la que cocina mi Madre y eso nos hizo sentir que estábamos en casa.Los platos fueron Lechón Asado acompañado de frijoles negros,arroz blanco y maduros.Tome una sopa de pollo con vianda y tostones dentro espectacular.Y mi plato fue camarones con arroz blanco,frijoles negros y maduros.Al final de postre pedí flan He salido de @Que Rico!Cuban Café con una sonrisa de satisfacción.Si pasas por Louisiana y te gusta la comida CUBANA te recomiendo los visites

The ambiance and service was good. My Cuban sandwich was very tasty and hot. The lavender lemon drop was spot on.

We went for our anniversary last year for the first time and it was excellent. We have eaten there a few times since and enjoyed every time. The decor is great, the food is awesome, and the people are wonderful.

We have been dying to try this place!! The decor is the cutest, perfect place for a stop off for drinks with the friends. Food was great, we will definitely return. True Cuban coffee was exceptional, but so not get it at night if you plan on sleeping at all . . . Lol. I was warned by my waitress and did it anyway but it was so worth it!

I been eating here for over 8 years everything is on point this grill cheese so good one thing about this place family own and it one few restaurants in the north shore that cook everything fresh nothing from a bag or processed so please go check them out place amazing and we need to support our local restaurants

The atmosphere is great with some nice Cuban music. I've also found very good food and they feed you plenty. The waitresses are very friendly. I look forward to go in again.

Ate here a few Saturdays ago the food was fresh, hot and tasty. Amazing service fast and friendly.

The croquetas were not too great, and the Cuban sandwich had a very strange flavor. Both featured ham, and the ham that was in them just didn't taste right. Maybe I'm spoiled as I eat Cuban food in south Florida all the time, but it just didn't do it for me.

Tried the oxtail - my goodness. Totally out of the world. The Ise of clear frying oil that is not reused to avoid sugar is perfect for making all the fried foods. The flavor just stood out for the plantains, the pork, the meats and the veggies. The coffee was amazing, of course! Viejo and Pollo were both outstandingly done. What I admired in the cuisine was the way the flavor for each ingredient was brought out by the cooking without the need for extra spices. The spice added was always as a side dish and that allowed for the pallete to sample each dish and the combination!!! Mind blowing. Strongly recommend this cuisine if you want yo try something new!!!!

Delicious. I had the lunch bowl of pork roast with black beans and rice, fried plantain and a fried egg. Well-seasoned, but not too spicy at all. Big portion. Spacious dining room. Waiter was very helpful and friendly. I can't believe this is my first time trying this place. I'll be back.
