Sazón Review - Huntington Park - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"One of the Eastside’s hottest places for brunch is Sazon, a Huntington Park restaurant specializing in Mexican street food. Things here get turned up to a 10 on the weekends, which is when you’ll witness queer Latinx DJs spinning soul tracks, tropical dance hall day parties, and Selena sing-alongs. So grab your most colorful outfit and a comfortable pair of shoes, then get ready to dance while enjoying pozole verde, chilaquiles, and chorizo-stuffed breakfast burritos. " - Kat Hong

Perfect Quick Snack Stop – Street-Style Mexican! This tiny spot (less than 10 seats!) is perfect when you’re craving something quick, flavorful, and satisfying. I stopped by for a snack and ended up blown away by how good everything tasted. It’s exactly what you’d hope for in street-style Mexican — fresh, bold flavors, no fuss. Just like the other reviews say, the food here is consistently great. You can grab a quick bite, enjoy it on the spot, and keep going with your day. I only had room to try a couple of things this time, but I already want to come back and work my way through the whole menu. If my stomach wasn’t full, I’d still be eating! Definitely a must-try if you’re nearby. Don’t expect fancy — just seriously good food in a small, no-frills setup.

Google
Tucked away from the big crowds, this cosy and friendly spot was a great find. I had the chicken torta: tasty meat, fresh veggies, and just the right kick of spiciness. Really satisfying overall!

Shiva Daryani

Google
We got one chicken and one lomo(pork) tortas. They were yummy and very filling. Size was gigantic. One could be enough for two of us. Also they were cut in half already. I recommend you to order one for two ppl unless you are really starving.

Google
Small hole in the wall making amazing food!! The Fresca was amazing. Tried the pineapple and Jamaican… both so fresh tasting. Jamaican was made from fresh hibiscus flowers. Ordered a Mexican Hotdog and Torta.. both were amazing. The staff are so nice and the prices are fair. Don’t miss out, try this place today if you want a hotdog, torts, quesadilla tostado or nachos!!

Google

Google
Great family run place for a quick lunch. Staff was very friendly and the food was awesome for the price. I got the large watermelon water and the shrimp/mango ceviche torta for $12. Has a small shaded place to sit in front (limited to ~5 seats), with mobile orders possible.

Google
I ordered the fruit cup which had lots of mango and watermelon and also pineapple and cucumber. It was very affordable and absolutely delicious and refreshing. There's a cozy sitting area which maybe 6 people can sit. The lady was very friendly and seemed to really enjoy taking care of the customers. I'm glad I stopped by.

Google
Que Sazon is a very small Mexican Torta restaurant which is perfect for takeaway or a quick snack. They have a very small patio area with just 5 seats so unless you get lucky plan on takeaway. I had the Mango Tostada with fish which was a reasonable size, lots of mango chunk, very tasty but a little to spicy for a lightweight like me. The Agua Fresca was very tasty and refreshing and helped counter the spicy serrano sauce.

Yelp
Simple, fresh, delicious. Torta was really toasted. Good sized -- I'm a big eater. Cute outdoor bar to scarf down a quick bite.

Yelp
I had the best Mexican food here! This family restaurant is small but cute! You can easily find it near old town San Diego. We ordered the turkey sandwich, classic nachos and Aguamichis ( the drink). Everything is perfect, yummy and authentic. The size is huge, to be honest, we should only order one food for 2 person....The service is great too, the owner let us know how long do we need to wait and give recommendations. You have to check this restaurant out if you love Mexican food!

Jennie J.

Yelp
The food is great and fairly priced. I really enjoyed the shrimp tostada. It was very yummy.

Yelp
Popped by after exploring Old Town San Diego and capturing some Pokémon! Easy to miss since it's tucked away as a snack stand but the street sign makes it easy to locate. Service was fast and friendly and I opted for the chicken Torta and classic hot dog (hot dog for my hungover friend) and the portions were huge and delicious! For $20 easily could've fed two people. The chicken Torta wasn't really a Torta and was a tasty sandwich packed with fresh produce, chicken and onions and jalapenos. The bread was fantastic here as well though not the telera bread I'm used to. People also got the agua frescas and fresh cut fruit here so there's something for everyone to enjoy!

Yelp
If you're looking for a snack or take away within Old Town, Que Sazón is an option although lunch time could get busy and you might have to wait awhile since it's a two-person shop. Went there around 12:30pm and shared the Pierna Nachos and a watermelon drink. Tried to order an Horchata but the rice was not ready for grinding yet. Good to know that they make it on site. The nachos were just ok and not knock your socks off. Suggest the tortas or tostadas. Not inexpensive as we spent $18+ for two items. Also don't expect your food to come out fast even though there's nothing hot, remember it's a small shop.

Yelp
Best tortas in San Diego! They're always nice and friendly! Fresh bread too! It's nice that they're fast too, you don't have to wait long for your food.

Yelp
This was the perfect spot for a quick lunch while walking through Old Downtown San Diego. The service was friendly and the food was good. The tortal with pollo was so yummy and the Mexican hot was really good too. It was reasonably priced for the area and we love to support small businesses. I highly recommend eating here.

Yelp
Love the Torta of pierna ahumada. Its a cute place to order and take home. They have a variety of items to order. Definitely if you are looking for a fast food to eat or to take home.

Yelp
I got the chicken torta: great portion and flavor. Awesome for a quick bite! Id definitely go again

Yelp
Beautiful and delicious food with plenty of bang for your $$!!! Hidden gem in a touristy area.

Gail L.

Yelp
A small restaurant that has a wonderful selection of classic food items like hot dogs to a really tasty Aguachile. The agua Fresca comes in a huge plastic cup (at least 4 cups worth). Give it a try when you are in Old Town and want to try a place away from all the typical restaurants that are crowded. There aren't many places to sit down so be aware of that. Just 2 small tables on the sidewalk for 2 people each, and a small counter that seats around 4-6. You may have to stand up.
google avatar

Yelp
Small little shop with a variety of stuff and with great taste. Aguachiles tostada was so tasty and the agua fresca was good not too sweet. The ladies were friendly.

Yelp
This food stand is just off a side street in Old Town and we are so glad we found it thanks to Yelp! We shared a torta de pierna adobada which was tasty and plentiful, vaso elote (muy bueno!), and vaso loco an interesting fruit cup topped with chamoy, peanuts, and Mexican candy. It was a great stopover for a quick snack before continuing on our way.
google avatar

Yelp
Very small, mom and pop hole in the wall. Quick snack of fruita and it hit the spot! Prices were reasonable. Would come again!
google avatar

Yelp
A gem! I recently ordered their Mexican hotdog with bacon and paired it with their refreshing cucumber & lemon aguasmichis. Let me tell you, the flavors were exactly what I was looking for. Chamoy dripping down the rim of my cup. The hotdog was perfectly cooked and the bacon perfectly done as well. I appreciated the freshness - everything was cooked up fresh. Plus, their selection of aguas frescas is a delightful bonus. They have a cute little outdoor seating area. I came here middle of the day on a Thursday and there was no wait with open seating. Que Sazon easily earns a stellar 5 out of 5 stars from me. Can't wait to go back for more!

Yelp
This place is absolutely amazing. I was attracted to it because of the tostilocos but got excited cuz they have Tortas too. Then I noticed the ceviche. Mango ceviche. That was the one. The Mango Ceviche Tostada is soooo bomb! Absolutely amazing, 10/10 great portion and flavor was perfect. Soo savory and the fish and shrimp combo was great. The shrimp was flayed and so meaty. The fish gave a nice softness to the meatyness of the shrimp. And basically got a whole half of an avocado on top. You know how much avocados be costing! So worth it. Also got the pepino limón drink. Super refreshing and extremely tasty. I want to come back and try the tortas soon. It was so good I ate it before taking a photo! Lol I was hungry that's how you know I was really hungry.

Yelp
Fresh and affordable with an interesting menu. Great place to check out just a block from Old Town Park. We had fresh fruit with Tajin, an elote tamale, and turkey sandwich.
google avatar

Yelp
Great little find in Old Town. Just a few outdoor tables and a window to order from, and it's exactly what we wanted for a quick bite while strolling around the area. The nachos with carne asada were fantastic.
google avatar

Yelp
There are so many things I would like to try here; I cannot get past the fruit cup with Chamoy. If you are walking around Old Town and need something refreshing, give this spot a try. Reasonable prices, limited patio seating, main entrees as well as treats. @SturdyGirlStyle #sturdygirlstyle

Yelp
Looking for Authentic Mexican snacks and drinks? This is seriously your place. I had passed by the little stands that are open here on Sundays for a chamango but they had closed. Lucky for me, this little place was right there! It took a bit for them to prepare the chamango but it's definitely worth the wait. They give you a big cup and it's filled with yummy spice. The smoothie was perfect! It had the right portions of sugar so it wasn't too sweet and the spice was such a great blend that it complemented the mango. Definitely give this place a try! You won't be disappointed!

Yelp
We had a little girl's trip at the Whaley House this weekend and noticed that there was a little craft/street fair going on. My daughter & I love seeing the beautiful things people create so of course we headed over there after our daytime tour. I used Google Maps to find a place to eat because we were all starved & found Que Sazon. There were definitely other places that we considered, but I kept going back to them when looking through places, so that is what we decided on. We ordered a ham torta, a Chicago dog [no mustard], shrimp mango seviche, a pineapple juice & a watermelon juice. NO REGRETS. Everything was so good and everything we ate had a little kick to it. I'm not huge on spicy, but none of the food was overpowering with too much of anything. I highly recommend & cannot wait to take the rest of my family back there! I know they will love it! Family owned & family run. Don't forget to tip well!!!! -heart monitor girl.

Yelp
Sweet little secret in Old Town! Get the mayo - always add the mayo! Ceviche with mango tostada was super fresh and chicken torta fab too. Did not try the hotdog but definitely going back. Horchata was yummy too. They were nice to put chairs and table out for us - freshly made so expect to wait! Worth it.
google avatar

Yelp
We ordered the super nachos and the mango shrimp tostada's. It did not disappoint. We on a whim googled food near us while we wrapped up our day in Old Town and this place pulled up with 4.9 stars. It was a two minute walk from the moly trolley stop and was delicious. I went with the mango shrimp ceviche and it was so fresh and full of flavor. Just the right amount of heat and so full of flavor. My husband did the super nachos with pork and he let me help some, thank goodness, it was full of richness and hit all the right points. It was a great surprise and we are so glad we stopped.
google avatar

Yelp
Absolutely delicious! I have probably returned more than a handful of times and don't plan on stopping. I always have the torta de lomo which is pork shoulder (typically roasted) and it's the best torta I have ever eaten anywhere! Their agua de lemon and pipino is so good. The service is the best! Super friendly. They have definitely made me a forever customer!! also love the seating area small but open and clean.
google avatar

Matthew G.

Yelp
Very small place. It's a nice local gem in a very touristy place. I loved the chicken torta. My wife loved her OG ceviche tostada. My toddler ate a hot dog... will go back if we ever visit old town during lunch.
google avatar

Kurt C.

Yelp
Man was this amazing. Aguachile con pescado in Old Town San Diego. Mamacita made it for me at this little place. Authentic and so friendly. I am a new local regular customer for sure. Local gem you have to try!
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped by this small shop for a quick bite and let me tell you.. IT DELIVERED! This is the best ceviche I've tried. We also had the agua miche with Cucumber lime water. It was very refreshing I will definitely be back!

Amy D.

Yelp
This snack bar is a real hidden treasure in Old Town. This has got to be the best ceviche I've ever had. I love the mango tostada with shrimp. Everything is so fresh and delicious and beautiful and make with love and care. I feel like I'm being handed food made by a friend. I was so excited for my tostada that i forgot to take a picture! But wow the colors, truly fresh food.

Amber A.

Yelp
I just wanted a quick snack and didn't expect it to be my new favorite place... Loved it!!
google avatar

Ryan A.

Yelp
I went here once with my gf, and i got a torta with ham. Good flavor, good portion size, and fast and friendly service, i would definitely come back here if i was in the area and didn't want to overpay for non-authentic Mexican food. And just fyi i grew up in Chula Vista and probably eaten at more than 50 different Mexican places in my life. So i would like to think i have a good idea what's good and what isn't.
google avatar

Javier G.

Yelp
A little hole in the wall at Harney st. in Old town. It's a good choice if you're hungry and on the go. I tried their nachos and a mexican hotdog with bacon. The services is fast and the prices are cheap for what get. Definitely trying the fruit smoothies next time I come to old town.
google avatar

Sarina R.

Yelp
Ordered the Michi Agua de Pina and man oh man it was so refreshing! The rim dip was perfect, the pineapple could've been a bit sweeter but I think in the drink it made it mix well with the flavoring perfect blend of sweet & savory. Probably could share with your significant other, friend, sibling, or parent because everyone will want a taste. As we walked out someone even stopped us and asked what we ordered, that's how enticing the drink is :)
google avatar

Tony A.

Yelp
A nice little lunch pit stop kinda place, it has out door seating and has a tiny outdoor cafe feelZ I got the torta with pork, crazy good, as well as a watermelon Aqua Fresca. The food really stood out as being 'fresh' with veggies and a nice warm toasted bread. I hope I'm in the area to get it again! Perfect place to meet friends for a quick bite!
google avatar

Veronica R.

Yelp
My new favorite spot to eat in Old Town. The agua chile tostada was delicious. I filled it up with a vaso loca which was also delicious. Now I'm excited to go back and try all the other items

Jackie R.

Yelp

Yelp
Wow what a pleasant surprise! I was just looking for a quick sandwich or snack because my breakfast at hash house a go go sucked, so I was hungry. This place had a REALLY tasty tuna salad sandwich and their elote cup was great! Also great horchata, and friendly staff. This food tastes so good and fresh. If it were a full restaurant, would have stayed and ordered more.
google avatar

Holly K.

Yelp
Delicious, quick, inexpensive, and delicious again. A great place to grab a bite in Old Town.
google avatar

Jennie B.

Yelp
Amazing, super fresh and huge servings. So delicious!!! The tostada was my favorite w a huge serving of fish ceviche on top.

Lryan R.

Yelp
This place is a home run! Price, quality, service 10. Women family owned business. These ladies work so hard and always have a smile on their faces. Ceviche tostada 5 star Mangochile smoithie...5 star Auqya frescas 5 stars And jalapeño quesadilla ...yum! enough delicious food for two for $35. The only thing I'd do diff is use raw jalapeños in the quesadilla, prefer the bite and kick still amazing.
google avatar

Susana M.

Yelp
We enjoyed our food so much. This place offers authentic tortas and tostadas, and more. We tried the lomo and chicken tortas. Super good! If you're in Old Town you got to stop by and try it out. They also have the famous chamango and aguas frescas.
google avatar

Juan I.

Yelp
Loved the place! Friendly workers. I got to see the lady making the tortas and was amazed. My girlfriend loved the hot dog. And the fruit and churrito locos were great snacks.

Yelp
This was the best meal we had on our weekend getaway in San Diego for Valentine's Weekend. It was my boyfriends first time and he saw the amazing reviews and said he had to have it. No regrets. He wants to go back just for this shrimp/ mango tostada. Oh and the água fresca is so delicious, I had the cucumber water! Great service, amazing SAZÓN, and made my me and boyfriend happy.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is a little hole in the wall and I am so glad I found them! They are new to the area and oh boy am I glad they're here! I've had their ceviche and let me tell you, the flavors are AMAZING!!!!! I grew up eating fresh ceviche as my father was an avid fisherman, so I know quality! This is sooo good! I will definitely be going Back. I also had their agua fresca and their mango loco! Sooo yummy
google avatar

Eric X.

Yelp
A very small place but very good food, not a tourist trap, saw many locals come by for pickup.
google avatar

R T.

Yelp
They have a very limited menu options. $10 nachos should be bigger &/or have more goodies in them. They just use the super cheap round chips that you can buy in a huge box from the bulk stores. Nothing special. Extra charge if you use a card. Lame.
