8 Best Hot Dog Spots in Durham, North Carolina | Eater Carolinas

"Earlier this year Que Dogs upgraded from a humble hot dog cart to a brick-and-mortar. Though in true hot dog spirit, it’s a walk-up window tucked in the middle of the Lakewood Shopping Center parking lot. Que Dogs isn’t shy about its raison d’etre, the hot dog topped with smoky, tender pulled pork barbecue. Que Dogs is pricier than other vendors, with the signature Que Dog set at $9, and toppings are available at an additional cost. But the indulgent combination of bold flavors makes every cent and every bite worthwhile." - Gabi Mendick

So glad I was in the mood for a hot dog and was in the area. Don't let the small size of the establishment fool you. There is some big flavor in this place! I got the #2 combo that came with the ATW dog & bbq sandwich w/ a side and drink. Also picked up a blondie for dessert. Everything was AMAZING. The hot dog was juicy and piled high with all the classics. I really like that they use red onions and not white. They taste less bitter imo. The bbq sandwich was seasoned so well it didn't even need sauce, even though that was also delicious. And whoever's granny made that potato salad must be protected at all costs. Add to that the stellar customer service (he walked my order out to my car) and this spot easily gets 10/10, will visit again. *s/n - No cash, card only

Enjoyed their signature dogs and blondie on grand opening weekend. 10 out of 10 would recommend 😄 Glad to have them in the neighborhood! (El Futuro garden across the way makes for a nice picnic spot, too.)

I was really craving a chili cheese hotdog, and boy did it hit the spot. I know I’ll be back for sure for the barbecue dog. Very friendly and welcoming service.

I ordered for the 1st time on Saturday 5/3/25. Since one of my favorite food is a Awesome hot dog, I didn't know what to expect but I must say I was Not Disappointed. Someone made a great tasting hot dog!!!. Just as I would have for myself. Fresh toppings, warn bun, plump juicy dog. Was perfect best I've had in a long time. Now please add fries to the menu!!!!!!

I stopped in at the spur of the moment because my wife wanted a hotdog and I'm glad that we did. The service was pleasant and on point. I enjoyed a hotdog and went back to try the BAR-B-Q sandwich, both were on point and I will definitely be a returning customer.

Sometimes food is so good that it evokes anger from me because I get mad that food doesn’t always taste this good. QueDogs put me in a rage and I will likely stay enraged for the rest of the day because I wish I was eating more. The BBQ is great and the dog is top quality. I cannot wait until I hit this place up again. Do yourself a favor and eat one right now!

The ATW beef hot dog is awesome but the potato salad is out of this world! This is a great family-owned and operated small business. The folks are super friendly. The food is delicious. The prices are very reasonable, especially since you're getting fresh home cooked food. It's conveniently located in a shopping center with a variety of retail and services.

Yelp
Delicious hotdogs! The chili is great and slaw is ok. They do not take cash- which I personally don't like. I like to pay cash for a quick little snack. Will be back for another dog one day if I'm ever on this side of town. However it will be my special treat kinda hotdog cause they are really expensive. For 2 hotdogs- $19.59 $16.00 for hotdogs- $1.20 tax- $1.00 tip- $1.39 processing fee = a whopping $19.59. I wasn't aware of a processing fee- and feel I shouldn't be held responsible for a processing fee- especially since I wanted to pay cash and had no choice. There is no ambiance- it's a little doghouse stand alone building with a little window to order thru. Dogs were a solid 4 star but honestly not worth what I paid. The undisclosed processing fee, no cash rule and expense of the dogs themselves is the reason for 3 stars. Sorry... really am. But hey! If you have money to spend the dogs are solid.
