"There are few pubs in London that you can take someone to for date night without them thinking that you intended to take them somewhere nicer around the corner, but forgot to make a booking. Unless, of course, you’re at a pub like The Queen Adelaide. It’s a retro pub on Uxbridge Road, with wood-panelled walls, a domed fireplace, 20s chandeliers, a giant painting of Queen Adelaide herself, and the kind of atmosphere that’s far more ‘charming date night’ than ‘hardcore boozer’. They serve proper gastropub fare with small plates like shin of beef croquette, but you really want one of their pies on your table." - Heidi Lauth Beasley

This pub was a good find for a pint and a feed. The food was fantastic as the 2 of us shared 3 small dishes plus fries and it was great.

I have been coming here for years. Just had a few pints and some food with friends and the staff were excellent. Despite how busy it was due to the football, all our food came out on time and we were well looked after.

Not happy with the service. Really disappointed with the new manager. Teachers in the local area used to get a teacher discount which was a really nice thing to do for local teachers. Unfortunately, the “new manager” was very rude when we enquired about the discount on our most recent visit and refused to give us the discount. Fair enough. However another much more amiable member of the bar staff gave my colleague a discount when he went for some drinks. The “new manager” was very rude and if this is the new management then maybe it’s time to find a new local.

Google
Very poor service and unhelpful staff. We ordered food to our table through the app as advertised in the menu. We could see our starters sitting at the kitchen window for ages with no bar staff coming to pick them up. When they finally did, they said we shouldn't order through the app when the bar is busy - but surely that is the reason to have an app! Having already had the issue once with our starters you would think service would improve, but the same thing happened all over again with our main courses, which were waiting so long that the chef waved across at us that we should come and pick them up ourselves. There were also issues with the mains because we cleary ordered chips with them on the app, but we're given mashed and a baked potatoe instead. When we complained about this, we were told there was no option to order chips with either dish on the menu. A blatant lie. As a result of waiting around the food was cold and sauces had developed a skin. We will never visit or order food here again. We would have asked for a refund given our experience, but the service was so awful that we knew trying to ask for this would achieve nothing so we cut our losses and left.

I haven't been here a while, due to it being a bit rubbish. I'm pleased to say that is is alot better than a year ago! Friendly staff and promote service at the bar. Didn't order any food on this occasion.

Yelp
Amazing food! We had the steak and ale pie. We are American. This was our first Brittish pub fare and loved it. The service was great and friendly. The atmosphere was just like we had hoped a Brittish pub would be-- friendly and fun! It was a very clean establishment, as well.

Yelp
Lovely pub for a quiet Sunday night drink, they also have a very good pub quiz on (I think!!! Monday). Good is fine for a pub. My only critisism would be the angry drunk old men standing at the bar which polute so many pubs in London. Why can't they just get chucked out.

Yelp
Delicious pints, good outdoor area, and friendly staff. Came here for a couple of pints with friends and found it easy to find seats and good atmosphere. Not sure I fitted in with the beards hipster types but had a nice enough time Food is really impressive for a pub

Yelp
A pub right around the corner from me and thank god for that! The Queen Adelaide is a the best, cozy pub with nice wooden tables, separate dining room and outside tables. I have been for both drinks, dinner and brunch and have never left disappointed. There is a full bar with beers, ciders and liquor options and a fantastic bloody mary for around £5. Most recently I had the burger and it was AWESOME. It was perfectly done, with bacon and delicious chips. I am a massive burger fan and this did not disappoint. My friend had the nut roast and as someone who is not a veggie it was also very good. The roast came with the biggest yorkshire pudding i have ever seen, and will be getting some variety of roast next time just because it was so nice. Think I may drop by this week for the pub quiz!

Yelp
The Queen Adelaide is a lovely, cozy and welcoming pub on Uxbridge Road in Shepherds Bush. From the outside it looks a bit spooky and haunted but the inside is nice, spacious, airy and inviting. They have a nice fireplace and loads of comfortable seating, definitely the type of pub you could lounge in for hours. They also have a nice collection of board games for entertainment. The staff is friendly and everything I have eaten there has been delicious! Most recently I had the sweet chili wings and the hummus with pita which made for a tasty and filling meal (both were from the bar snacks menu). Previously I had one of the best vegetarian meals I have ever had at a pub, their nut roast, which was very flavorful and incorporated lots of different veggies! I am always impressed with their food selection and am glad to have such a nice place close by.

Yelp
While queen Adelaide is clearly buzzing with its cute yet antiquated interior, its food is a let down. The burger tasted like rubber and the kimchee bowl ended up being deep fried. The friendliness of the staff and the atmosphere made up for it, but were unlikely to return for a meal.

Yelp
... And we're back... again. Can't really fault this place, food's great, service is great. This time we had the pork belly - banging! Moules as a main and apple and berry crumble with custard for dessert. Yum! Happy diners

Yelp
I think this place is great! A kid friendly pub full of board games, and good food, with great ambiance. A nice selection of wines, for us non-beer lovers (I know, I know, what kind of pub-goer am I?) is another asset. Plus, it's less than a block from my sister's house, so proximity counts, too :-) In terms of food, they have fantastic french fries, and the chicken and leek pot pie is super-delicious, although I swear they must use at least a stick of butter. They have some specials on various nights of the week (I think you can bring your own wine without corkage on Wednesdays, if you eat dinner there) that you might want to check out. If you find yourself in Shepherd's Bush, this is a great pub to visit!

Yelp
Sunday afternoon saw us bravely going in a new direction. We headed west down the Uxbridge Road rather than east, to find a spot of lunch. We hardly went 100 yards before being embroiled with choice. The Adelaide Cafe looked like a promising classic greasy spoon but we walked in and were told it was closed. So much for their 'all day' breakfast. Opposite stood proudly the Queen Adelaide. A bit of googling has informed me that 'Queen' Adelaide was William IV's Queen Consort. So she was an early 19th Century Camilla. Of sorts. I can't ever imagine either ladies frequenting the Queen Adelaide. It is a bit of a classic London boozer, with the locals drinking from a fairly early time and looking miserable through much of the day while staring bitterly into their pint. It might be a bit more lively in the evenings - the notice board above the bar proclaims weekly delights like karaoke, a quiz, darts competitions and the like. We went for lunch. One round of two beers was over a fiver, so it's not cheap. The menu is Wetherspoonsy - burgers and pasta for around a fiver a dish. We both had the Texas BBQ steak burger. Mine was a huge disappointment. I don't expect alot of £5.25 but a shrivelled chunk of fatty sinew is never what I would describe as "steak". Additionally it took over 30 minutes and nobody else was eating so the kitchen couldn't have been busy. Might be worth another look at a different time and without food as it's quite a nice building with large windows, fireplaces and that sort of stuff.

Yelp
Recently refurbed, and so a number of reviews below don't entirely do it justice. No more is it TexMex Burgers and terrifying QPR fans: it's been sympathetically done-up to expose the wood flooring, add some artistically frayed leather sofas, lovely lighting, and an outside smoking area fenced off from the Uxbridge Road madness by some nicely maintained hedging. The food when we visited was great, if pricey. I ate a roasted squash stuffed with other roast winter veg - my partner's sunday roast chicken was colossal. Really chilled out bar staff and a nice vibe - it could have been a pretentious disaster but it's actually a really pleasant place to hang out.

Yelp
Has a great atmosphere that defines the classic London pub, but also fantastic food that puts this place securely in the gastro pub category. I had the salad to start, which was crispy fresh, well dressed & beautifully presented. Then the lamb in filo pastry with risi e bisi. I was a little unsure about the pairing but it really worked, the risi e bisi complemented the delicious lamb perfectly. That was followed by a sublime bannoffee pie to finish. If the pub was a little quieter I would have licked the plate clean. Every plate was a modern presentation, clean & tasty - I'd be more than happy to order any of the courses again. In fact, the food is of the quality where each mouthful should be cherished & eaten slowly. With that said, we were in a rush to get to a gig & the whole team went out of their way to accommodate us. A shame as we both wanted to stay on but time didn't allow. The service was friendly & warm without ever being over-bearing. The menu is changed often & the food is always cooked fresh & well in the open kitchen that takes up one corner of the pub. The price is more than reasonable for this standard of food. Three courses, drinks & tip for less than £65 in London can't be a bad thing.

Yelp
Love it there !! Unique place in the neighborhood! Great staff and cool terrace. Nice selection of wines and the only time I ate there the food was good. Bit pricey hence the no 5 *.

Yelp
Not a bad pub at all the food is good, it's an impressive space, they have lots of comfy seating, nice decor, and a reasonable selection of drinks. You can also make Sock Monkey's on Sunday's here. However for some reason I really can't get enthusiastic about this place. As it's very open with high ceilings, when it's busy it can get a little noisy, and I feel uncomfortable as the window's are so big without any curtains or drapes, so it's hard to feel homely. I just keep getting the feeling (not dissimilar to when you've just have moved to a new house and you haven't unpacked yet), that people outside can stare in at me and I'm not settled, and with this feeling I just can't relax here. Although this pub is closer to where we live, and although I have to get a bus to get there, we tend to go that extra distance and go to the Duchess of Cambridge, which has a much more laid back feel. Not a bad place, people are friendly, It's just not my cup of tea.

Yelp
This is the latest of a few gastro-furbs in the area, and one that has definitely worked. The Adelaide has a great interior, that is not so posh as to be 'hotel bar' and still has a bit of spit and sawdust. Great fireplace feature, nice ramshackle mix of furnishings and the hallowed dining area which is thankfully quite small and unimposing. The staff are great, really unpretentious bunch, and the bar food is excellent: cheese plates for not-too-stupid money, massive prawns and bread for a fiver and home made scotch eggs. More relaxed option than the Princess Victoria and more chilled than Defectors - look forward to some other nights in here, and more of those lovely prawns. yum.

Yelp
This is quite a fun place to enjoy a heary meal. Not only is the food good, the atmosphere is really brilliant. You can be entertained with music on weekends or even make your own sweet (or not so sweet) music on a thursday karaoke night! Great place to bring your friends and have a laugh!

Yelp
YUM!! Just yum. We've eaten here quite a few times and it never disappoints. The food is fresh and the servings are a good size. Last night we had bread and oil to start with, I had cajun chicken (who know a humble piece of chicken could taste so delicious!) and OH tried onglet steak for the first time...he wasn't sure what it was but asked our server (who I think is also the manageress) and she explained about the cut of meat and how they cook it etc and he was sold on the idea. I think we literally inhaled our food! Both were served with a bowls of hot crispy fries and coleslaw. Add in a bottle of very good red wine and a bill of just £55 suffice to say we were still happy as ever with this place. It has a great atmosphere and the staff are really friendly. We walk past another gastro pub to get to this one as it's less pretentious and pricey, it's well worth it.

Yelp
Went on BYO Wednesday, so saved on drinks. Had an amazing burger, atmosphere was good and waiters were friendly: despite being rushed off their feet. Definitely recommend.

Yelp
We just wandered in here and were pleasantly rewarded by really good pub food. The staff was very friendly. Our waitress was attentive and sweet. Most of us had fish and chips, which were consumed by all in record time. I was reluctantly offered a crust of fish(by my husband) and it was delicious. The mushy peas were unreal-who knew that mushy peas were even edible. They were green and tasty. The Tatar sauce worked. My sister had lamb koftas, which were good, (but nothing like Naama's down the street). I had the corn fed chicken with chimichurri and empanadas. It was really good. The sweet potato in the empanada was a surprise. The chimichurri didn't seem as bright as it could have been, but it was tasty. Supposedly, it came with cucumbers, but they were late to dinner. The Queen Adelaide is quite loud, but that can be overcome by the quality of the food, the staff, and by yelling.

Yelp
My other half and I popped down here for a Sunday evening meal to cheer us up as it was cold at home! Plus we hadn't had a chance to try it out since it was done up as a gastropub, even though it's less than a mile from our house. But after our experience, no matter how close it is, we're not going back again. The place has been nicely done up, with lots of wood and a range of vintage lampshades hanging around the bar. The place was half full, so we sat down straight away with menus. There were only two waitresses for the whole pub, so it took a while (20 minutes?) till one was able to come over and take our order. My OH had the duck, and he got the better end of the deal: It was decently cooked, as were the vegetables, with the cavolo nero especially good. But it was nothing special - the combination with the sweet potato accompaniment was a bit weird - and a bit overpriced at 12:50. My Scottish sirloin roast dinner was even worse value at 13:50. The meat was tough and badly carved, the carrots and parsnips were leathery and the roast potatoes like superballs. None of the promised horseradish, though the waitress did offer to go to the store to get some for me. All of which might be forgivable at normal pub meal prices - but if you have pretensions to being a gastropub, you've got to deliver. On the way out, we noticed a pile of roast potatoes and veg sitting under the heat lamps, looking like they'd been there a while - maybe since lunchtime? - which explained why they'd been so awful. Here are the pluses: the service was affable, the room was pleasant and the tables aren't too close together, so you can talk and hear each other, but not hear our neighbours. But all of that isn't enough to get me there again.

Yelp
This was one of the best pub meals I have had in years and the service was great I would definately recommend it!

Yelp
A great local pub, good crowd, friendly staff. I've had brunch, lunch and dinner here and would recommend it. Have weekly quiz night, book club and byo wine nights.
