Dubai Travel Guide

"This unique property was once a working cruise ship that has been converted into a hotel, permanently docked in Dubai. The 13-deck ship features 447 refurbished hotel rooms and suites — including the Royal Suite with a large wood-lined private deck — restaurants, a spa, and a theater. History buffs can tour the ship's bridge and see what the cabins looked like in the 1960s before settling in for a leisurely afternoon tea complete with finger sandwiches, traditional cakes, and warm scones with clotted cream." - Travel + Leisure Editors

Queen Elizabeth 2 Cruise Ship is Dubai's Newest Luxury Hotel - AFAR

"A retired 963-foot transatlantic liner converted into a permanently moored hotel in Dubai, the ship arrived at Mina Rashid in 2008 and underwent an on-and-off, roughly decade-long renovation before a limited launch this year and a planned official grand opening in October. The property now features 224 thoroughly remodeled, modern yet nautically accented rooms and suites, extensive public amenities including more than a dozen bars and restaurants, a shopping promenade and a movie theater; five dining venues are currently open. In its heyday the vessel accommodated about 1,900 passengers and 1,000 crew, and standard rooms are being offered at under AED700 (about US$190), positioning the hotel as a relatively accessible, regal-feeling alternative among Dubai’s luxury properties." - Matthew Phenix

Queen Elizabeth 2 (QE2) Hotel | Best places to stay in Dubai

"Surprisingly under the radar for such an icon, the original QE2 cruise liner (now retired) sits quietly in Port Rashid. Permanently harboured in Dubai, it’s been transformed now into a luxury hotel. Her 215 rooms, spread over 13 decks, harken back to her life on the open seas, with interiors that still have a touch of the 1980s, original art pieces, quirky details and carpets from her heyday. Rooms range from cosy (i.e. tiny) to the Queen Elizabeth and Queen Mary Royal Suites, once reserved for members of the royal family, with a conservatory and private terrace. ‘Dubai’s oldest pub’, the Golden Lion, is also onboard, and sundowners at The Pavilion, on the aft deck, harkens back to the days of maritime glamour. While the QE2 may not have the facilities offered by many of Dubai’s beach resorts, you’re staying in an icon of maritime history. Guests can also join one of the excellent heritage tours, led by a former Cruise Director, who’ll regale you with stories from his time onboard. " - Nicola Chilton

This is a difficult review to write as the QE2 is a very famous passenger liner (not a cruise ship) converted into a hotel, which means that it is nothing like a normal hotel and cannot be judged as one. By necessity it is moored in the docks area far from the city and there is almost nothing nearby. However that is rapidly changing and the whole area is undergoing massive regeneration. The new reception building is first class as are the staff. We were made most welcome and shown to our room (cabin) by a consierge, who explained the layout of the ship to us. The cabins have been very successfully converted into modern hotel rooms with many of the original ship fittings retained, providing a nostalgic touch. The dining facilities were excellent. A massive buffet breakfast to start and an excellent evening meal with our half board package. This a full three courses from the a la carte menu, a touch of class. The downside of the dining is that it is at the rear of the hotel and if you have a room at the front then it is a long walk. If you are expecting a modern conversion then you will be disappointed as the hotel has retained many of the ship's fixtures and fittings, which, although very high quality are now a bit dated. Each day there is a Heritage Tour of the hotel where the history of the ship is explained. We thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay and would highly recommend it It is an experience not to be missed, not a hotel stay.

The place was good and somewhat amazing, since it’s a real ship being transformed into a hotel. The experience was great too. The rooms are clean. The employees are friendly and accommodating. Thanks to Putri who assisted us and arranged our check in, it was hassle free and fast. Breakfast was good too, thanks to Varun who assisted us. Location wise on the way to the hotel was confusing tho, since there are constructions going on. There should be signages so that guest won’t be lost in going and coming out from the hotel. However the overall experience was great.

I stayed on the Queen Elizabeth 2 for one night and it was a unique experience. The ship itself is full of history, beautifully preserved with a touch of modern comfort. My cabin was cozy, clean, and had everything I needed. The staff were very welcoming and made the stay feel special. Walking through the ship felt like stepping back in time while still enjoying today’s hospitality. It’s definitely more than just a hotel—it’s an experience. Perfect for anyone looking for something different in Dubai. Glad I stayed, even if just for one night!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the iconic Queen Elizabeth 2, the legendary ship-turned-hotel docked at Mina Rashid in Dubai. It’s not just a hotel; it’s a journey through maritime history, blending timeless elegance with stunning views of the city’s skyline. But what truly made my dinner at the Queens Grill an extraordinary evening was Varun, our exceptional server. From the moment we sat down, Varun greeted us with a warm, radiant smile and an infectious energy that instantly put us at ease. Passionate and attentive, he knew the menu inside out—from modern takes on classic British dishes to international specialties tailored to discerning palates. He recommended a South African red wine that paired perfectly with my beef fillet, and he effortlessly accommodated my vegetarian companion’s preferences without us even asking. His subtle humor and fascinating anecdotes about the ship’s history turned a simple meal into a lively, memorable conversation. Varun isn’t just efficient; he anticipates your needs with a professional discretion that makes the service seamless and personalized. In a venue as iconic as the QE2, where the spirit of grand ocean liners still lingers, he brings a contemporary warmth that elevates the entire experience. If you dine here, request Varun specifically—he deserves all the praise and a generous tip! Thanks to Varun, our evening was the highlight of our Dubai getaway. I’d return just for his service. A huge thank you to the Queen Elizabeth 2 team for nurturing such a talent!

Staying on the QE2 is more than just a hotel stay—it’s a step into history. The location at Port Rashid is ideal, giving easy access to both old and new Dubai. The ship has been beautifully restored, keeping its maritime charm while offering modern comfort.|Rooms are spotless, spacious, and full of character, with lovely water views. The whole ship is maintained to a very high standard, and despite being lively in the social areas, the rooms are peaceful and quiet.||What really makes the QE2 stand out is the service. Staff are warm, professional, and genuinely proud to work here. Special thanks to Mohsin for his brilliant service, |Analyn - who truly deserves a management role she is really a tresure for QE2, and the afternoon tea team in the Chart Room, who made our experience exceptional.||Amenities are excellent, with plenty of dining options, bars, a theatre, exhibitions, and even guided ship tours. Breakfast in the Lido is a must.||Overall, this is far more than a hotel—it’s an unforgettable experience. Highly recommended.

We recently stayed at your property to celebrate our baby’s 1st birthday on 29th Sep (Room 1046). During check-in, the front office kindly offered a complimentary cake for the celebration, which we had not requested but truly appreciated. We were informed that it would be delivered by 8:00 pm. However, despite multiple follow-ups and calls, the cake was never delivered. Each time, we were only told that the team would “check and get back,” but no update was given. If we had been informed in advance that it was not possible, we could have arranged for a cake earlier ourselves. Unfortunately, this resulted in us cutting the cake much later than planned, and it was quite disappointing for such a special occasion. We truly value the effort of offering a complimentary gesture, but the lack of communication and follow-through led to a poor experience. I wanted to share this feedback so that future guests celebrating special moments do not face similar inconvenience.
