Dubai Travel Guide

"This unique property was once a working cruise ship that has been converted into a hotel, permanently docked in Dubai. The 13-deck ship features 447 refurbished hotel rooms and suites — including the Royal Suite with a large wood-lined private deck — restaurants, a spa, and a theater. History buffs can tour the ship's bridge and see what the cabins looked like in the 1960s before settling in for a leisurely afternoon tea complete with finger sandwiches, traditional cakes, and warm scones with clotted cream." - Travel + Leisure Editors

7 Underrated Places to Visit in Dubai

"An historic ocean liner permanently moored near the Gold Souk at Port Rashid that has been converted into a contemporary hotel and museum after a 2017 refurbishment. Visitors can explore the vessel’s past on an affordable Heritage Tour (around $23 USD), take in unobstructed sunset views over the Dubai skyline, and enjoy the novelty of staying aboard a famous ship—though its decks aren’t the filming location from certain Hollywood scenes, they remain atmospheric and crowd-friendly." - Travel + Leisure Editors

Queen Elizabeth 2 Cruise Ship is Dubai's Newest Luxury Hotel - AFAR

"A retired 963-foot transatlantic liner converted into a permanently moored hotel in Dubai, the ship arrived at Mina Rashid in 2008 and underwent an on-and-off, roughly decade-long renovation before a limited launch this year and a planned official grand opening in October. The property now features 224 thoroughly remodeled, modern yet nautically accented rooms and suites, extensive public amenities including more than a dozen bars and restaurants, a shopping promenade and a movie theater; five dining venues are currently open. In its heyday the vessel accommodated about 1,900 passengers and 1,000 crew, and standard rooms are being offered at under AED700 (about US$190), positioning the hotel as a relatively accessible, regal-feeling alternative among Dubai’s luxury properties." - Matthew Phenix

Queen Elizabeth 2 (QE2) Hotel | Best places to stay in Dubai

"Surprisingly under the radar for such an icon, the original QE2 cruise liner (now retired) sits quietly in Port Rashid. Permanently harboured in Dubai, it’s been transformed now into a luxury hotel. Her 215 rooms, spread over 13 decks, harken back to her life on the open seas, with interiors that still have a touch of the 1980s, original art pieces, quirky details and carpets from her heyday. Rooms range from cosy (i.e. tiny) to the Queen Elizabeth and Queen Mary Royal Suites, once reserved for members of the royal family, with a conservatory and private terrace. ‘Dubai’s oldest pub’, the Golden Lion, is also onboard, and sundowners at The Pavilion, on the aft deck, harkens back to the days of maritime glamour. While the QE2 may not have the facilities offered by many of Dubai’s beach resorts, you’re staying in an icon of maritime history. Guests can also join one of the excellent heritage tours, led by a former Cruise Director, who’ll regale you with stories from his time onboard. " - Nicola Chilton

I stayed at the Queen Elizabeth 2 Hotel for almost two weeks till now ,, im writing this review while im still there, and it is truly an unforgettable experience. The reception staff were incredibly kind and welcoming . special thanks to the reception team — they’ve been incredibly kind, helpful, and always make sure I’m comfortable. Especially Mary and aizada who once invited me for coffee — she’s truly one of the sweetest people I’ve met here. I always look forward to seeing her and Mary every morning; they both bring such warmth and kindness, and they always check on guests to make sure we’re comfortable and happy. Housekeeping was excellent, and every staff member I met was polite, friendly, and always ready to help. Once, I got lost inside the ship, and one of the staff kindly walked me all the way. When I thanked him, he smiled and said, “We’re here because of you.” Today, I was feeling down, but I was surprised by a call from room service offering me a complimentary sweet treat . it honestly made my day. The room rates are very reasonable, and I can’t even decide what I loved more , the staff, the place itself, or the whole experience. They truly respect guests’ privacy and do everything they can to make you comfortable. I’m genuinely grateful to everyone at this wonderful hotel — they made my stay so special.💛

We didn’t stay on the boat so this review is only for the Lido restaurant. Pleased we visited, slow service but tbh they were in between service. Still lovely food, good service, drinks are pricey, esp for bottled water but it was nice water. Great air con! Worth a visit but don’t expect to be blown away by the boat but the museum is worth a visit. Bear in mind, this is out of a the way not too far but tricky to get to by Uber.

The front desk team was excellent. We arrived at 2AM in the morning and they took care of us immediately. Also, the breakfast was absolutely delicious and amazing. The service and the quality and variety of the food was excellent. I did get lost trying to find my way around the boat a few times, but it was part of the experience. My room was surprisingly spacious, clean and comfortable and the room extras such as robe, shampoo etc... were very good. The gym was good but a few of the machines needed repairs but there was plenty of other ones to do. I did not use the pool, but it looked very cleaned, small and well-kept and also, it had a lifeguard. I did not mind the location because it is very easy to get an Uber but definitely far from the Dubai action. Also, I like the quiet in the morning's decks and reading areas. I found this hotel very unique, interesting and all around comfortable. Overall, I will definitely stay again at QE2 and I am recommending it to my friends.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Amazing Service at QE2 – Thank You Bilal! Had a wonderful stay at the Queen Elizabeth 2 Hotel. The ship is beautiful, but the highlight of my experience was the excellent service from Bilal. He was extremely polite, helpful, and always attentive. His professionalism and friendly attitude made my stay even more comfortable. Truly impressed — thank you, Bilal! Highly recommended.

The tour was well worth it!||The guide was very informative, the right mix of humor and with very good information. ||Having been to the Queen Mary tour (twice!) in Long Beach (this was during the golden era of the 30s liner), i wish that more of the spaces would be revived. One perfect example in the ship would be the The Chart Room Bar, it looked very authentic and almost felt as if the space was how it was crossing the Atlantic! ||The tour focused on the mini museums set up around the ship as well as photographic references set up around each area of the ship, the bridge, radio room, a tourist class cabin, a small cinema. I wished we had seen the Grand Lounge (which was used as an event space at that time), the shopping arcade (I think is gone) and the Theater. It would also be nice to make mention of some of the design of the spaces.|Its good to see Princess Grill, the Lido, the Golden Lion Pub utilized as restaurants. ||Everyone was encouraged to explore the ship afterwards. One can easily get lost in the labyrinth of passageways and doorways..and some deck access was closed off so I had to go back and find another way around. ||The ship also offers a good panorama of downtown Dubai from afar. Overall, the 1.5 hour tour is highly recommended for all ages...I would definitely go back i they open up and revive more of the public spaces...similar to the Queen Mary in Long Beach.

Yesterday we went to Lido resturant to celebrate my daughter in law's birthday. It was a surprise for me from my son and daughter in law, because it was my first. I was so excited as we drove towards the ship. I had goosebumps. The service was excellent, staff was very welcoming, my grandson's needs were taken care of. The spread of food was excellent. We got to see all the important places on the ship. Thank you Dubai for your excellent service and maintenance at it's best.

An unexpected surprise 3 night stay for my birthday and what a fabulous experience ! Ship is looking a little bit tired from the outside due to the relentless sun but is soon to have a new paint job. We had four rooms and all were clean and beautiful , modern but with a lovely period feel. The rest of the ship was awesome !! It's a work in progress so some areas are off limits ( I would have liked to see the engines ! ) but the ship is so big you will get lost wandering around on your own , there's so much to see and so many original period features and decor why would anyone want to stay in a boring concrete hotel ? Food on board was superb , great selection and quality ! If you are lucky enough to stay here you must take the organised tour , we were taken around by Brendan and Megan who were both humourous and friendly , Brendan was incredibly knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the ship.

Staying at the Queen Elizabeth 2 Hotel (QE2) was a truly unique and memorable experience. It’s not every day you get to stay inside a floating hotel that was once a legendary ocean liner! The moment you step aboard, you can feel the sense of history and elegance that surrounds this iconic ship, now beautifully transformed into a luxury stay. The rooms were on the smaller side, which is expected on a ship, but they were immaculately clean, hygienic, and well-maintained. Everything was neatly arranged, and the design kept much of the original ship’s charm. It gave that cozy, vintage cruise feel while still offering modern comfort — definitely something different from your usual hotel experience on land. One of the best parts of the stay was the food. The hotel has multiple dining options, and we were pleasantly surprised by the variety of cuisines available. From Arabic and Indian dishes to continental and international favorites, there’s something for every palate. The quality of food was excellent, and the service staff were polite, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. Walking around the decks after dinner was another highlight — the calm water views, the classic maritime details, and the quiet hum of the ship make you feel like you’ve stepped back in time to an era of grand voyages. Overall, the Queen Elizabeth 2 Hotel offers more than just accommodation; it’s an experience. Perfect for those who love history, ships, and a bit of nostalgia mixed with comfort. If you’re visiting Dubai and want to stay somewhere out of the ordinary, this is definitely worth trying at least once. Just be ready for smaller rooms — but big memories!
